Upgrading a p6510f Pavilion with a new power supply, graphics card and RAM work?

Well, here's the deal that I go back to Japan for about 3 months and during this time I will borrow my laptop Cousins (in Exchange for my office) for Skype etc.. No problem their the thing is that he is a player and this p6510f has a few bad specifications when it comes to this, so I thought that I could let him borrow some cake rather than dirt, if you catch my drift ha... As well, when I get back gamer I ~ ('voice of Yoda"aka How Japanese works...)

So I looked on Newegg / Amazon read comments and planned my purchase but the question is can this case and the Board of Directors manage what I use? lazy to measure everything out / busy.

So first thing, I would like to replace:

Replace the 2 x 2 GB ram cards default with:

4 x Corsair blue Vengeance 4 GB (2 X 4 GB) 1600 mHz PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM of 240 pins

For a total of ram 16 GB with my x 64 bit PC of course

Link: http://AMZN.to/KtMt9m (note that I buy two)

Replacing power 250w with an overkill rather one but it is the same price as a 550w then why not eh? After all the future upgrade/ability to use it in future builds?

1 x Corsair Enthusiast Series 650 watts 80 Plus Bronze Certified Power Supply Compatible with Intel Core i3, i5, i7 and AMD platforms

For the graphics card + overclocking.

Link: http://AMZN.to/IkLTdp

Finally no more ATI integrated BS... Please for the love of the creator (will it work?)

1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 580 1536 MB GDDR5 PCI-Express 2.0 2DVI/Mini-HDMI SLI

If my PC can adapt to this card, and it works with power above that will make me happy enough. (Regarding the cooling if it becomes a problem, I can upgrade fans me but first comes this material.)

Link: http://AMZN.to/IFiEa2

I checked the slot for graphics card, RAM and power supply power and it seems to me that this will work out I want just a professional opinion...

Hello

According to Corsair, the DIMMs that you chose is detected only at 1600 mhz, which is not in the specifications published by HP.

You can roll the dice on the DIMMs that you chose, but I wouldn't recommend that buy you them until you contact Corsair and get a confirmation.  Computers HP can be very finicky with DIMMs, especially if you try to mix them with other DIMM modules.  If you do buy these bars and want to be them mixed with the existing DIMMs, then make sure the timings of latency CASE corresponding information validated HP. Also mix DIMM sizes will cause the memory function in unbalanced mode that adversely affect the performance of the memory.

You should be able to make your own decision on whether to roll the dice.

    Hello!

So, I won money to buy (hopefully) a new video card!

    However, I have a problem.

I don't know which one to get!

SO, someone please, please recommend a video card for intermediate level games.

(My budget is less than $280)

    My PC has stock everything.

Thus, it was purchased as it was when you would get everything first he.

Yes, I need also a new power supply that is included with my budget.

    Thank you!

    Revionion, welcome to the forum.

I'd be happy to help you in your choice.  The main problem is, recent video cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS to legacy.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  The latest maps not requiring UEFI were the series GTX 640.  However, MSI has made a card that has a VBIOS hybrid which can operate with a BIOS.  The best thing to do is to choose a video card you like and contact Technical Support from the manufacturer to ensure that it will work on your computer as it is almost 7 years old.  This will save you problems.  They are the experts on their cards.

I like Corsair power supply units (PSU).  I suggest at least 500W.  This will give you plenty of power for any card that works in your computer.

If you have any other questions, let me know.  I'll be happy to help you.

  • Dimension 4600 doesn't work with the new power supply

    Hi all

I replaced the power supply in my 4600 today so he would welcome a Nvidia Geforce 7950GT AGP.

The model is an integrator of Aerocool 500W 80 Plus Bronze. http://www.Amazon.co.UK/GP/product/B00JKVHKSU?

The 4600 has two sockets on the motherboard. A 20 pin and 4 pin. The new power supply had a 24pin cable that I shared, so it became 20 + 4.

It is not working properly. With all the connected cables (2 cables for the mobo) and 2 connectors molex to drive HARD and CD - R, there is a flashing orange light on the front of the computer and a green light on the motherboard. Some discs don't look, no noise. Nothing is on. If I remove the power cable from motherboard 4 pin POWER supply lights up and the fan from the CPU. There is no problem when I connect the old Dell 250w PSU back up.

Some of the reviews on Amazon have said that some cable has been connected to wrong and only he re-wiring to work. I don't know if this applies to me? I took some pictures of the connectors. http://imgur.com/a/6m9pu

Have you used the connector 4 pins, which was part of the 20 + 4 P1 12v connector, connect to the P2 4 motherboard connector pins 12v?

  • Dimension E510: Power supply, video cards and fans...

    Howdy Dell Community!

About 2 years ago I bought a Dell Dimension E510 desktop to game and machinima. It has served me pretty well until about a week ago lightning hit a tree outside my window while I tried to shut down my system. The storm came pretty quick and I didn't know that it was there only a rumble of Thunder, so I started to stop, but it was too late: smileysad:. The motherboard was virtually unusable. I took it to a local computer repair shop and the machine lights up and works just fine except for the card NETWORK does not work on the map AND if you did a RAM test that it would fail, but not one stick of RAM could be found with a problem. They ordered a replacement for my Dell motherboard.

So I was thinking the other day, 'now would be a great time to make updates!". I put a 250 GB Seagate Barracuda HARD drive to replace the old 80 GB Hitachi. I also thought to improve cooling, the power supply and the video card. I have a lot of questions so here Let's go!

    (1) can I replace the fan inside the shrowd of cpu with a spare fan fan, and if so what are the dimensions of the fan?

    (2) can / should I strap in a 80 mm fan / 120 mm at the rear of the case to increase the flow of air from the case?

    (3) I heard that put a spare PSU is FRY your motherboard. I don't want that, but Dell doesn't provide upgrades of power supply (isn't that Nice of them?). A power PC Power & Cooling 500W Dell will work with the motherboard and the case?

    (4) after installing a new power supply, something like an ATI Radeon HD 3870 would work well? (compatibility with the motherboard)

    (5) I read something about being owner or something in this sense (like my e510) Dell systems. What is c?

Well, that's all for now. I hope that there will can help me!
    Thanks for your time.

  • CPU limitation with the new power supply

    Hello

    I have a W510 with 135W POWER supply. Or to be more precise: A 6.75 @ 20V.

I work at two locations, so I bought a generic 150W PSU with an adapter to mount the Thinkpad. The PSU is labeled 7. 5A @ 20V, so there should be no problems running the laptop.

Yet, when starting, I get the "this power supply is too low for something something something battery charge" and strangled my i7 at 1.2 GHz, and not the 3.06 there are usually.

If I boot from the battery and connect the connector of the power supply after Windows is in place, it works at full speed. And to charge the battery very well. Then of course, there is nothing wrong with the juice from the PSU.

Thus, I suspect that the BIOS does something stupid. Can I override this somehow?

    Friendly,.

    A guy

Maybe what the ThinkPad does not does not correctly detect the generic adapter. The central axis of the generic adapter does not give the right signal to the laptop power management firmware.

Check in the ThinkVantage power manager what to say under the generic adapter 150 watts? He said 90 watts?

  • Power supply, graphics card

Hi people, I have a model of HP Desktop 6755F, 6 GB of memory, at AMD phenom x 4 9550 Quad-core processor, with integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200. My problem is that I bought a new game recently Silent hunter 5, I have to have all options graphic, turned down in order to just play the game and even in this case is slow. I want to do two things if possible.

    1. put upgraded the PSU, it seems that all decent to high end cards require more than 300w than my current diet is.

    2. update my graphics card. thought an ATI Radeon HD 5000 seriesor maybe Nividia GTX 200 series. I have a pci e slot available, and what the devil does ATI cross fire x technology built into the average of motherboard. (which seems to be a requirement for some ATI cards.

I called technical support for questions about upgrading, and they were as much use as a third * beep *, no. help what so ever. Keep telling me to ask someone who sells cards, or check with manufacturers of FOOD etc. block (passing the ball)

Can someone tell me if I can update these items, none of the suggestions of product, budget is not really a problem, but to say under$ 400 - thanks in advance for any help.

Assassin, I suggest the OCZ or Corsair PSU.  Either will give you the clean power and stable necessary for execution of the card of the 5700 series.

  • Pavilion g6 2230tx: can I update my driver graphic card and RAM

I had HP g6 2230tx with dedicated 4 GB of ram and raedon graphics card... I want to know if I can update my graphics card with nvidia cards... And if yes what cards are compatible with my camera... And if I can improve my 8 GB RAM...
I aould want also know is what are the raedon cards and nvidia would be compatible with 8 GB RAM or RAM have nothing to do with the graphics please help...

Upgrading the video card is a non-starter. The video chip is soldered to the motherboard and not something that can be removed and replaced.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    See p. 47

For 8 GB, the max you need 2 of them:

    4 GB (PC3 12800, 1600 MHz) 641369-001

    http://www.Amazon.com/HP-641369-001-1600Mhz-PC3-12800-memory/DP/B008L325TW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&QID=1461333553&SR=8-2&keywords=641369-001

More memory will help the video a bit. Not a lot. You say you have 4 gigs which is not bad, so an upgrade to 8 will do any type of work only a little better and video games a little bit better. Don't expect significant increase in the frequency of images of the games, for example.

If it's 'the Answer' please click on 'Accept as Solution' to help others find it.

  • Shift of the computer; It seems that my laptop is lagging when it is connected to the power supply (AC adapter) and it works perfectly fine when it is NOT connected to the power adapter. Can someone help or diagnose the problem?

This shift of computer thing had never happened before until about a week ago. The shift comes every 30 seconds or more and it occurs also when I switch between applications.

    Hello

I saw this kinds of problems occur with the power strips and even UPS systems. And some similar questions have
been solved using them actually, especially the UPS. If the power strip has important circuit protection
He'll probably bad or you have very low power at first on this AC circuit.

Solution is not to use the tape and maybe get a UPS with brown-out solution.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP Pavilion p6-2: problems on blocking down after I installed the new power supply on a p6-2207ep

    Hi all

B4 explaining my problem, I really don't know if I should post this in office, or material in this section of the freezes/crashes/locks but since I posted in freezing section and no results I decided to try here.

    My pc: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03382032

I bought a new PSU: XFX TS 550W 80PLUS BRONZE for the GPU upgrade 380 R9 I was planning to do.

Is there some BIOS I get HP for this cause of power supply from what I read, if I not only one of the things like manufacturer reset to the factory settings may stop working... Currently, my Bios version is 7.11...

Problems with the new power supply:

When I closed windows 7, the first problem, the picture freezes on the screen that says "blocking windows down", I waited a bit and nothing, tried to turn off the machine while keeping down the power button but nothing to disable directly in the rear switch of the PSU...

Second time happened a little different soomething, seconds after freezing again on the screen that says "blocking windows down" windows actually turned off and the screen is off but everything inside the computer case continues to flow fans in light of the power button / stop and was also able to close by keeping pressed power button...

When I restart the computer, to which some time stops, and only after a few seconds, it turns...

Also tried the GPU with the new PSU fans worked but no entry in the screen that I guess just a power supply problem.

ATM, I'm RMA waiting to know if it is a power supply defective or not...

Problems after the reinstallation of the original material:

Some of the same problems when I got the new PSU remained namely:

Windows actually stop and the screen is off, but everything inside the computer case continues to flow fans in the light of the button on / off and was also able to close by keeping the power button...

When I restart the computer, to which some time stops, and only after a few seconds, it turns...

What I've done so far to try to fix the problem:

Restore windows 7 to a b4 point the hardware installation.

    Reset the BIOS

    Hard reset

    Clean boot

Do you have a full checkdisk which means 0 KB in bad sectors...

A complete hardware checked all tests with the HP software

A system file check everything beautiful

What I fear most is a faulty PSU that may have caused damage to my equipment mainly the motherboard, but could be something else entirely.

Maybe I need a specific BIOS for that motherboard / PSU combo, but after returning to the source material, the problems remained.

What I can do because I can only make the software tests since I don't have an extra PC to test the parts...

    Hello

Disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse when you try to solve the problem.

Disconnect the PC and removed the CMOS battery.  Press and hold the power for 30 seconds.  Now, replace the CMOS battery and plug the PC give a TI a go.

Your PC is not stable enough to make a BIOS update. Do not attempt to use the graphics card XFX until your PC is stable enough to make a BIOS update.

  • My new power supply work with my motherboard?

    Hello

I reasontly bourght a few upgrades for my PC.

    I bourght an i7 870 and an AMD 5670 + a new power supply

So my question, what ive in doubt, my new PSU(CX-500) work with my motherboad (MS-7613(Lona-GL8E)?

    Thanks in advance

    René Tyrsted

    Thank you.

    Yes. It will work.

However you will probably find a little tight because of remaining unused cable bundles. My preference for the PC ATX Mid-size boxes are of the modular power supply. With a modular power supply connect only s connector as much as you want.

Do the upgrades one at a time.  Start with the power SUPPLY and any other origin. Check that it works and then close.  Then go to the graphics card.

    Happy update.

  • Pavilion 500-516na: HP Pavilion 500-516NA 180w power supply

Hi, I have a Hp Pavilion 500-516na, I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card Radeon x 360 r7 just to give you a little extra boost, but on the specifications for the graphics card it says need a 500w power supply.

Looking at the specifications of power supply in my machine it says he only 180w?

It would be really too low to run the entire machine and if so I think I would need food also upgrade?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    You good to go.

You must coordinate the power requirements of the graphic replacement card with the power output on the new power supply (PS).

Also check the measures of PS existing when buying a new PS

A final exam is UEFI BIOS vs. You have UEFI. So the new graphics card must support UEFI, or have the ability to switch between each protocol.

im going to be upgrading my diet so I can update my graphics card. the vehicle currently has a 250w power supply and I want to go between 450-600w. I need to know what brands will certainly adapt to my case. I have a processor intel dual core and im on vista sp1. also the new power supply will require an update of fan? any help will be greatly appreciated.

Given that this case is an office of size, or it seems, you should be able to use a standard ATX power supply box.  To be sure, take it with you for the purpose of comparison or get the dimensions.  The fan is usually part of the diet, unless you want to say the "fan" which will probably still be OK, too.

I was very happy of the journal online CORSAIR TX650, but here is a problem: he's going to slip into my computer case, which is a t HPE-350? I would like to get a new power supply as soon as possible and please help me

    Hello

Open your PC and measure the distance between the optical drive and power.  The power supply you want to install is by 3.4 by 6.3 5.9 and standard HP POWER supply is by 3.4 by 5.5 5.9 (inches). It might been very tight.

Corsair HX650 is 5.9 by 3.4 by 5.9 and modular.  You will find may be easier to install.

TIP: Remove the front panel and the side as the optical drives to the front so you give a little more space for help with the installation of the power supply.

So I had some problems with my computer randomly power loss and to make a long story short, I need a new power supply. I have currently a 485w some brand power supply dell PSU happens to come up with, and I'm looking to upgrade to 500w. Any experience/suggestions for a PSU recommended for a Dell 435 t/9000? I fear that the pin connections are not compatible with the card mother dell, so I thought I would ask someone more experienced that I am to suggest a good 500w PSU that will work. Very much appreciated.

Generic ATX power supply can be installed, in the Studio XPS 9000/435 t with a power 24 pin or 20 + 4 pin main motherboard and EPS/ATX12V 8-pin, with or without the on/off switch.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Note: A power supply with 5 SATA connectors, is necessary.

Suggest you use the Corsair and Antec brands:
