Upgrading my Mac

Hey everybody,

I thought about the upgrade of my Macbook Pro rather than buy a new one, since it has been late in developing/running much slower over the years but work still perfectly fine.

My current Macbook Pro Info:

Mid 2009 Macbook Pro 15 ", 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GM RAM & HDD 320, El Capitan 10,11 and bought the Hitman

My questions (sorry if it's too):
It would be best to first put the RAM or RAM and HARD for one SSD drive?

I know I'll be getting a Crucial 8 GB of RAM, but for the SSD, I saw brands Samsung, Crucial and OWC, but what would be the best option and get SATA III would be nice or just stick with SATA II (Link Speed: 3 GB/negotiating link speed: 1.5 GB)?

Also would it be reasonable to share my HARD for one SSD drive if I only used about half of my HARD drive?

For programs like Word (already on my mac when I got it) if it is saved in my time machine I would still be able to recover or do I have to have the drive?

Finally, for those who have used an SSD, how long they usually last and there was no problem with them?

Note: I went through this thread: Re: SSD 2009 Macbook Pro replacement . I wanted to just a few details on the SSD.

Thank you

Mamfe

If you have the funds by all means to upgrade the RAM and SSD.

You can get everything you need at OWC. Their link will tell if SATAll or SATAlll for details.

They guarantee their SSD for 3 to 5 years depending on what you buy.

After upgrading to Mac OS Sierra, I'm not able to save the scans when you send 'folder '. I need to print to PDF and then save.

    Hello
The HP scanning application is not compatible with Sierra, so you may experience problems.
Remove the HP scanning by moving it to the trash, then empty the trash.

Instead install HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed in the Applications folder:
    http://FTP.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/OSX/installations/Essentials/HP-easy-scan-1_7_0.pkg

If you experience additional problems, ensure that the latest version of the software is installed by following HP Easy Start below:
    http://FTP.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/OSX/applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

Finally, make sure that your drivers are up-to-date by clicking the Apple icon, select about this Mac and then press on software update.
Click on the Bank on the menu bar, click Reload Page, click all update if an update is available.

  • I need to upgrade my Mac (MacBook white unibody mid 2010) with a SSD (and iMac mid-2010) and the RAM and SSD

I need to upgrade my Mac (white unibody MacBook mid-2010) with a SSD (and iMac mid-2010) and the RAM and SSD: I look to buy upgrades site Crucial and OWC site and there is a little difference, in terms of money: it's better to buy the Crucial site or OWC site.

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

    < re-titled by host >

They have good tools to find compatible parts for your Mac models.  The OWC took is here

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/MyOWC/

OWC tends to have the most detailed information on the Mac.  If I look to the top of the part to OWC and review specifications.  OWC offers often information based on the Mac-specific tests.  If Crucial offer something similar for a substantially lower price, buy it from Crucial.  I'm sure they have a refund is not political, if a part they say is compatible.  I bought the RAM and SSD both Crucial and OWC.  From my experience, be it high quality.

For the 2010 iMac, OWC also offers a "kit" (with the tools and support) to replace the hard drive of 3.5 inches with a 2.5-inch SSD.  Eventually, if it's a 27-inch iMac, I think that you can Add the SSD instead of replace the hard drive.  And they have self-produced how-to videos on the process, related to many of their lists of products.  OWC provides a lot of information with added value and service for Mac users.

OWC also offers kits to replace the optical drive on some Macs (including MacBooks) with an SSD (as a secondary internal drive).

  • 120 all-in-One desire: analysis of the problems with envy 120 all-in-One after upgrading to Mac OS 10.12 (Sierra)?

    Hello world

My operating system is Mac OS Sierra 10.12, but the drop of HP does not include yet - that's why the "other" operating system.

I just upgraded my Mac to 10.12 Sierra, and I've also updated software from my desire to 120. I have also reinstalled the HP utility software on my Mac. And Yes, I restarted my Mac several times too.

    Now, the challenges:

1 120 feel like in his screen it does not find my computer when I try to scan to the computer. As if he cannot see it, even if the two computers and 120 are on the same network. This problem is new and was held just after the upgrade from Mac OS.

    2. Furthermore, when I try to activate the scan on my Mac computer, an error message appears telling me to update my software HP (see screenshot), although I've done.

If someone had the same problem, and if you have, how you go about it?

    Thank you.

    Hello

HP software full functionality is not yet available for Sierra, as you mentioned the ysstem functioning is not yet.

You can scan with the application of ICA Apple (Image Capture or sweepers & Scanners), as well as thorugh HP Easy Scan you will experience, however, some issues you described, as this behavior with the scanning of the façade, this is a known issue with the software that should be fully updated for Sierra soon, it should be available soon, assuming that during the next weeks to come...

You can insall HP Easy Scan 1.6.1 below and check if you are able to scan from it:

Note: If there is already a HP Easy Scan of a previous version icon in the Applications folder, remove and empty the tash first.

    http://FTP.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/OSX/installations/Essentials/HP-easy-scan-1_6_1.pkg

Then, try to scan using HP Easy Scan and check if it works.

If the front panel can now list your Mac, it probably, work if not to use the Scan on your Mac software for now.

    Kind regards

Because I upgraded my Mac OS Yosemite, the scanner on my MX920 no longer works. I just get a question mark in my garden of Image. It was working fine before the upgrade.

    Hi lalyc,

    2. then please click the red arrow next to the "RECOMMENDED FOR YOU" section and click on the CUPS driver file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Once you have downloaded and installed the driver of CUPS on the site file, please install also all other elements of the section RECOMMENDED for YOU and the DRIVERS from the Web site.  To install the rest of the software which comes with the printer, please follow the steps above, except for step 2, you can click the red arrow next to the 'SOFTWARE' section instead of the RECOMMENDED section to locate and download the software.

Once all items have been downloaded, please double-click on each of the items on your Mac to install. If you plan to use the printer wireless, please make sure to install the Canon IJ Network Tool changed after installation of all other software; It should be the last item installed.  Once all items have been installed, please restart your Mac and try to scan.

  • After upgrading to MAC Mountain Lion, the drivers for my HP C4680 were removed (accidentlly)

After upgrading to MAC Mountain Lion, the drivers for my HP C4680 have been deleted (accidentally). I downloaded the drivers from HP, but my Macbook it not install because the drivers are not available on Mac Store. How can I get the printer installed?

    Hello

First of all, make sure you restart your Mac, and then try to add the printer again.

If it persists, ensure that the USB port directly connected to your Mac and not via a USB hub or extention.

Ensure that the USB is not longer than 2 m and check to see if that can help you.

Also, if you have an iMac, be sure to plug the USB in the port at the back of the Mac and not in the Apple keyboard, which is not powered.

Also, try to reset the printing system, then try to add the printer and check any changes:

    * Be aware that reset the printer system will eliminate any existing queue and reset all custom settings driver.

Click on the Apple menu and then click on System Preferences.
    Select Print & Scan.
Right click (or Ctrl + click) your product with the Printers list in the left panel and then click on reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user name and password.
Click OK. The printing system resets.

Now, click on the Plus sign and try to re-adding the printer.

If none of the steps above does not lead to any progress, go to the library and place the HP folder to the trash.

Enter PPD\Contents\Resources, search for C4600 and move the files to the trash, then try to add the printer again.

    Hope that helps,

    Shlomi

  • I just bought a version of lightroom upgrade 6 (mac, upgrade from lightroom 4) and began the process of installation, but when I entered the serial number of the previous version, I got the message "the serial number you entered is not valid. Please try

I just bought a version of lightroom upgrade 6 (mac, upgrade from lightroom 4) and began the process of installation, but when I entered the serial number of the previous version, I got the message "the serial number you entered is not valid. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact customer service. The number I entered is correct - I checked against the original package and on the products of my adobe account page, and I get the error message even if I try to enter the serial number of the version of lightroom 3 I had before. I am at a loss to understand what I can do: I paid for this product, but I can't install it. The only thing I can think is that the lightroom 4A was purchased from an old computer, but it has migrated successfully to my current imac, as surely, it should work.

Problem is resolved now - it's due to my misunderstanding of what was required, and enter the serial number of the previous version (as an upgrade) instead of the serial number of the version I had to buy). My apologies for my mistake and thank you for your time.
