Upgrading processor on Compaq Presario 7 rpm 11

I would just like to know what size processor I can install in this unit so that I can run Windows 7 a bit better on this PC. I know that it is possible to put a different processor in this 1.5 Ghz Pentium 4 PC. I have already installed the max for memory, I wonder if I can do the same for the speed of the processor. Thanks for any help you can give!

geeman58 wrote: the video card requires a 300 Watt including the PC a. power supply I decided to not upgrade the processor and I'll take your advice. It's just that I would go to the bottom of what I have before moving on to my next PC. In order to do that I went on the Intel site to study this and although I got what seems to be valid information from him, I came to realize that, while their products, maybe in my PC, they are not original they are OEM. So I went to the Web of HP/Compaq site to try to identify just what I have and what a mess it is! I even went to the online chat support, what a joke it is as well. Nobody seems to know where we can go to refer to what is simply in their product! You get reference to their online support site that gives no answer to what motherboard you have, or how to determine if you can update the BIOS. Yet once, I will do what at this point I'm just trying to determine if it could be done. If there is a problem in the age of the manipulation of data, I'm sorry, but why should I buy a HP product? Is another manufacturer no better with the PC component specification? Or is there a resource that I don't know, do you?  I want to say how do you get your information on the HP products which are supposed to be so old that even the guru online chat have no information? If you can answer all these questions I really would appreciate it. As always, have a great day! Thanks for the time!

Hello geeman58, it seems that all OEMs work well even. There is no way they can keep to the top with all of their systems for ten years, when systems are deemed have reached their service life after 5 years.

When these systems are at the end of their useful life, as your East, no OEM will have information about the system you need. They switched to newer systems. This is how it is. This is the case with almost any manufactured product you buy. What is the main factor to be considered here, it is that a home computer system is considered as obsolete after 5 years and a business system after 3 years.

You work with a ten year old system. In the world of computers, a system which is six months, it looked dated, since technology is changing so quickly.

I suggest you go to learn more about the latest systems and technology, since the old technology is no longer relevant.  That's all just a waste of time and effort to continue along this path.

You mentioned the video card requires a 300 Watt power supply, but you must also consider more the requirments of power of the video card, the support for this card into the slot in the motherboard. There is a maximum power that can be delivered from the motherboard to the video card. If the card requires more power that the motherboard has been designed to offer, the result will be a motherboard or video card failure.

It seems you are experimenting the very old hardware and try to get this very old equipment to function as the latest accesoriess, and that is impossible.

The HP's Support Forum is not an official site of Hewlett Packard Support. It is a peer Forum, with members trying to help others to solve some of their problems with their HP/Compaq computers to. I don't know any Member here who considers himself a "guru". There are a lot of Members here who know a lot about computers in general and the HP/Compaq computers specifically, but they don't know what should I know about all HP/Compaq computers ever built.

Since it seems that this question cannot be resolved to your satisfaction, I consider that it is resolved to my point of view, because I can't give any other information that may be useful.

Your laptop has two DIMM slots. The maximum amount of memory, others have upgraded to 4 GB is. The maximum recommended by HP is 2 GB. The memory of replacement should be PC2-5300 667 Mhz, 1.8V

Here is a link to the memory at Crucial.com.  Only use the modules of replacement by major memory creators who produce guaranteed compatible memory modules to avoid the risk of buying incompatible modules.

  • the upgrade of processor in compaq presario cq4010f

I have a desktop Compaq Presario CQ4010F running Windows 7 Home premium 64 with AMD sempiron chip factory, and I want to improve. I checked page plug product and learned that the motherboard is the manufacturer name: Pegatron M2N68 - LA (5 NARRATED), and HP/Compaq name: NARRA6 GL6. Then I checked the processor upgrade information and learned that it supports the image of socket AM2 + AMD Phenom II chip. I bought the AMD Phenom II X 4 940 3.0 GHz true quad design 8.0 MB total cache chip core. I've installed the chip, and while I was there, I added 1 GB of ram (leading to 3 GB total) just to be on the safe side. When I turned on the computer it tells me "unsupported processor' and turns off. I cursed loudly and ran things. Then I put the old chip in the back and it works fine. I checked the BIOS (the BIOS basic version: 6.0 BIOS revision: 5.54).  The new memory appears, so it's true.  I called a local computer repairman who did work for my mother in the past, and he told me that I have to upgrade the BIOS. I went to HP's download page, but there is no update of the BIOS for my machine. Then, I called 1 800 HP customer/tech support number, but had difficulty in communicating my problem because nobody speaks English as a first language. I cursed even louder and expelled more than things. My cat is still in hiding.

My question: How can I get this chip to work? I really need to upgrade the BIOS? If Yes, where can I get the said upgrade? If this is not the case, how can I get the current BIOS to recognize the new CPU? How to coax my cat (grey and white tiger striped, 2 years, version 4.5) out of hiding?

Help, please! I want to play Skyrim.

    Thank you!

You can post a screenshot of what you mean. ?
There should not be a difference between the two.

Computers HP don't require processors HP. The processors are manufactured by AMD and Intel.

Just compare the specifications of each against what you read in the text of presentation upgrade CPU on the portal of the web HP supported on your motherboard.

  • Issue of upgrade CPU laptop (Compaq Presario)

    Hello

Can someone please confirm that my Compaq Presario B1223TU, who has a processor Intel T5250 CPU can be upgraded to the Intel T9500 (Penryn) 2.6 GHhz.

I already installed the latest version of BIOS 68MSU f.0Une on my computer.

After checking the site Web of Compaq to my computer here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-57986-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&...

In the correction and improvement of article he States: "adds support for new Intel processors.

What exactly are these new Intel processors because it is not clear? It's the BIOS version 68MSU ROM. F05

I guess that means it supports the new Penryn T9500, T8100, T8300 and T9300 processor, but I'm not sure.

I also found this site selling retail who says that it is supported as well for my particular laptop but it does not include the Intel T9500: http://www.ambry.com/page/modelnu/GS111PA/463050-001.html

Can someone please confirm that the T9500 is a possible upgrade for me. Thank you.

  • Presario sg-3320il: upgrade of RAM Compaq presario sg-3320IL

    Hello

My office - compaq presario sg3320il originally supplied with 1 GB ddr2 RAM (2 x 512 MB sticks). I bought a 2 GB Transcend DDR2 800 Mhz RAM stick (model number: JM800QLU - 2G). It worked perfectly when I removed the old sticks pre-installed and added this new RAM stick only (IE, with a total of 2 GB of memory). I bought another stick of 2 GB of RAM - same brand, same frequency, same model number too and now when that is added with the older 2 GB of RAM, it does not work properly. Some weird appears on the start screen for half the time and sometimes when I restart the system, he gets up to system boot and then hangs or restarts.

The two 2 GB RAM when used only work perfectly. Product specifications are here as well as the news of upgrade memory - http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/Compaq-Presario-SG3320IL-Desktop-PC/3697170/model/3707607/docume...

    Help, please

    Hello again @kau_shik_51094,

In the case of 2 RAM sticks not even work together, I suspect that the slot on your motherboard is damaged.

Really, there may be another explanation that your computer works with both sticks independently of each other, but not together and since they are the exact same it leaves only the motherboard as the problem.

I hope this helps. Thanks again for your post on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

So I plan to upgrade my processor computers for the delay I get (it's a single core Celeron 585 clocked at 2.16 ghz)

Now I want to upgrade to an Intel Core 2 Duo clocked @ 2.00ghz (7300), that would be defienitly thrust my performance. It has the same socket but I'm not sure what bios go or if its going to work.

I heard that this laptop supports this series 7xxx and nothing below or above. This is false.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

Because your laptop with a celeron processor, it has the Intel GL40 chipset.

This means that the best processor you can install is the Pentium T3400, because the GL 40 chipset can run than processors with front side bus to 667 MHz.

  • Upgrading power SUPPLY Compaq Presario SR1403WM block

I know this is an old computer and everything, but I'm always wanting to do some updates for her because I'm not getting rid of it for a while.

So I was wondering what would be a compatible power supply for this computer. I'm looking for at least a 350 watts so that I could run easily 3 hard drives, a dvd burner and a Radeon X 1300 XT.

If you know if this card will work with the 250 that is in this computer with my other updates please tell so I don't have to worry about this.

Since the computers original specifications I already changed to 3 320 WD HDD, 2 GB of RAM and an ATI Radeon 9550, while also removing the modem 56 k the 9 in 1 card reader and the original hard drive, CD burner and stick of RAM.

The 9550 is just a little weak for me and the x 1300 will be able to hit the sweet spot. That is why I wonder about upgrading the PSU or the card will work with the current.

Anyway thanks for the help in advance.

Ok. Good ATX PSU brand will do. (Corsair / OCZ / Fortron / shut up!) Your motherboard uses an ATX PSU specification. With what you already have in your system, you should get a decent at least 450 Watts and ATX12V 2.2 EPS12V, modular, 80 more specs. Care like these will allow you to use it in a motherboard upgrade when you are ready

    relate only to the:

The question is what the CPU can be used as a possible substitute for a performance on the T4200 gain?

The following text appears to be very similar to the T4200, but roll up a gear clock spec. None of them would be viable and of course even wouldn't she do on such an older machine now? The BIOS would support a higher clocked CPU speed?

Yes, there is a point in going more slowly so that your pc supports dual channel.
You have 800 MHz if you hace two-channel memory will clock at 533 Mhz and then multiplied twice which is 1066 Mhz
It is a parameter which allocates memory of your cpu (long story)
and as I can see, your PCH supports 1066 Mhz which will make it intresting.

  • Compaq presario cq61: change the boot sequence

I have 10 Windows upgrade on my compaq Presario cq61 free. I want to do a clean install of Windows 10. I downloaded the tool of Microsoft Media, made a key USB and DVD containing the clean install. I am told that the use of the flash player, I have to change the boot sequence in the bios. I tried everything from ESC, all numbers F and LED to try to enter the bios and all have failed. Told me that all I had to do with the DVD was just put it in and start the computer and the laptop would boot from the DVD and I could make my own installation from there. Which also failed. The only thing I have not tried is downgrade to Windows 7, affecting Windows 7 back to factory settings, then reinstall the free update of Windows 10. I would not have to go through all if I mostly because I bought the laptop from a friend and it was installed at the factory of Windows 7 and I don't got no disc software to the computer so I don't want to screw up and drop windows 7 without the appropriate software reinstall to match the product key.

Any help to enter in the bios or advice that could help me reach my goal would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

    Here are some other suggestions.

    1. start the machine in Windows 10.

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close any open windows and stop the laptop by right clicking on the icon from the Start Menu, then select prompt (Admin) and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Type (or copy and paste) the following command (including spaces) and click Enter.

    Shutdown /s /t 0

Tap on the ESC key as soon as you turn it on and see if it will now access the Start Menu.

2 try to connect a keyboard external usb and see if this will allow you to access the Start Menu.
