Upgrading RAM on my Satellite C660 - 15G

My laptop specs:
Processor type: Intel® Pentium® Processor T4500
Clock speed: 2.30 GHz
FSB: 800 MHz
level 2: 1 MB cache
Operating system
No operating system pre-installed

Design of color color: textured black finish and black keyboard
Standard system memory: 2 048 MB
maximum extension: 4 096 MB
technology: DDR3 RAM (800 MHz)

I'm confused, can't find any DDR3 800 Hz anywhere... and I am using a 64-bit windows 7... I recognize that other portable series C660 can pass at 8 GB, but only with 64 bit systems...

is the ram bus only limited by the processor bus?
is it possible that I can add up to 8 GB and info on the not entirely explained site because this laptop does not come with any OS...

last. given that I can't find 800 Hz ddr3 memories... He never questions if I added the memories of different bus but both executed on a lower bus?

I'm waiting for thank you for your kind response.

The speed of the RAM is controlled by the FSB (front side bus). This means that if the FSB is limited to 800 Mhz, the modules would go at the same speed even if they are faster

So for example you can buy modules that support 1066 Mhz or more fast (i.e. 1333 Mhz), the modules would go to 800 Mhz and may be clogged down.

    HY,

Stayes manual that I can improve my video memory dedicated, up to 4 GB, but I can't find this option in Advanced Option or in the Bios, I have a Satellite C660/C660D.

Furthermore, my CPU is supporting 16 GB and my motherboard also, why can't I put on 16?, because in the manual it says that 8!

I don't know what model you have exactly, but video Ram cannot be upgraded directly. All you can do is upgrade RAM. With more RAM, more memory will be used for graphical operations.

  • Increase the video RAM on a Satellite C660-1N6

I tried to run a software for video editing (Cyberlink PowerDirector 8) on my Satellite C660-1N6, but it does not start.

I was informed that 64 MB of ram of the laptop is not enough. My old laptop had a shared ram of with256Mb card SIS Mirage 3 and the program worked fine.
I told myself I must increase the video ram 256 MB, but I don't know how this will affect the operation of the excellent laptop.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

    Hello

I found some info that your laptop has graphics UMA (Unified Memory Architecture). This means that the GPU uses system RAM instead of having there own dedicated RAM. They are fine for the use of the web, watching movies and so forth, but don't not to play or using video graphics performance of publishing applications.

As I know there is no way to manually set. Everything works automatically and depends on the RAM used in Notepad.

  • Upgrading RAM on toshiba satellite pro l650

I have 2 toshiba satellite pro l650. first of all an i did a RAM upgrade 8 GB (2 x 4 GB DDR3 1066 MHz Kingston) 1 year ago and work. Now, I would like to upgrade to the other laptop. I bought 'Impact HyperX HX316LS9IBK2/8 2 x 4 GB 1600 MHz CL9 SODIMM 1.35v DDR3L' but do not work! I thought that they were defective and I branch "QUMOX 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) 204 pins DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM" but also these don't work on my toshiba! Why not work? What can I do?

I presume that there is compatibility problem. Best thing you can do is to use two identical RAM modules.
Can you please put name of full model of your laptop so that we can check what RAM modules are 100% compatible.

  • Problem upgrading RAM on old Satellite 4600

    Hi guys

I wonder if anyone can help me? I have an old Satellite 4600 (not sure what series that is!). It has 128 MB of RAM. I added an another 128 MB of RAM, but it records still only 128 meg. I spent the round modules, always only 128 MEG. I tried even to each module right in the slot A, and then just to location B. Whenever he recorded 128 Meg, so I know that the two slots are working and two modules work, but it will not record together as 256!

I checked in the BIOS and only 128 in there too. Help, please

  • Want to upgrade RAM HDD & on Satellite P10 - 304

    Help, please

I have a Satellite P10-304. There is only a tiny 256 RAM and 30 GB hard drive.
    Can I put both?

I was looking to upgrade to 2 GB ram at least and 120 to 160 GB of hard drive.
Looked at the pc world, I know not which is compatible with mine.

    Thank you

    Hello

Of course you can upgrade this P10.

The RAM can be upgraded up to 2 GB and you use PC2100 DDR - RAM modules.

I think that the laptop supports the HDD IDE ATA-5 and in my opinion, you would be able to update with 100 GB or 120 GB HDD

  • Upgrading RAM in the Satellite A200-1WR

    Hello!

    My laptop is a Satellite A200-1WR, code PSAE3E-05J01CCE, including 2.048 (1,024 + 1,024) MB RAM memory.
I wonder if it is possible to upgrade to 4 GB memory
In the specifications, it is said that the maximum expansion is 2 GB.

However, I don't know if 2 GB is the maximum expansion for each slot, it is possible to have two modules of 2 GB each, or the motherboard was held 2 GB total.

    Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, this model of laptop can handle with 2 GB of RAM only.
Sorry, but move to 4 GB is not possible.

  • Upgrading RAM on the Satellite 2450 S203

Recently upgraded from 2 x 256 to 2 x 512 MB memory RAM. Put new memory in the laptop could not start. Replaced by the original memory still fails to start.

    All solutions?

    Hello

Try switching the modules in the memory locations. Sometimes, this might help.
If possible, try to access the BIOS and to set default settings.

But if the laptop will not start in the original and compatible memory modules, then you damage something during the memory upgrade procedure.

    Just for info:
Is that you must use the PC2700 200 pin SODIMM (333 Mhz) DDR modules. These modules are compatible

  • Question about upgrading Ram on a Satellite A200

    Hi friends,

I have a Satellite A200-13O with 120 GB HDD, 1.8 GHz Intel Centrino Duo, 1 GB of ram, but there 2 512 chips installed.

If I upgrad 2 1 GB ram is it possible to improve performance...?

and what happens if I switch to 2 GB dual channel...?

    It has Windows Vista Ultimate...!

    Thank you
    Nagal

Do you mean that you would use a single module of ram of 1 GB?

Well, you would still have 1 GB of RAM, but the dual channel cannot be used due to lack of second module.
So, if you can, try to use exactly the same 2 modules for best performance of the memory.

The laptop supports two memory locations so you can't do anything wrong insert 2 modules in slots 2 to run dual channel modules

    Welcome them

  • Upgrading RAM on the Satellite L30 - 11 d

My brother has a Satellite L30 - 11 d and he bought an extra 2 GB upgrade from 512 MB RAM.
HE sent me an email - excerpt below, but does not have regular access to the Internet and so not the time of this post.

My laptop has 512 MB of ram and Toshiba etc. told me that it could be upgraded to 2 GB. I got 2 x 1 GB cards installed.
The problem is that if I remove the 512 MB card, the laptop does not see the Go cards at all, so I put the card 512 back in and it was OK, so I put a 1 GB card in and it worked OK, thinking it might be a loser card I have triedthe other cards plus the works of 512 and this.

Also, if I put one of the GB cards on their own that work.
According to Toshiba, the computer can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM - so what I am doing wrong.

Any ideas would be appreciated. »

    Hello

I googled and found this page of specification of Satellite L30 - 11 d:
    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 128130

According to this page, the satellite L30 - 11 d can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM (2 x 1 GB)
You must use the RAM (533 MHz) DDR2 200pin modules.

I think that the laptop doesn't recognize the 2 GB of RAM due to compatibility issues you should try the modules of RAM from another manufacturer. Maybe Kingston would be ok.

  • Upgrade RAM & HDD on Satellite L30-115

    Hello

I have a Toshiba L30 - 115 and I want to update the default value to 1 GB / 2 GB of RAM and 160GB / 250GB hard drive is it possible and if so can you provide me with the item number of the modules and the capacity of each. I would like to know if the system would support any upgrade, as I wish?

    Hello

Response to upgrade of RAM is very easy. This Satellite phone can handle with 2 GB RAM max and compatible DDR2 400/533 1 GB memory module except the number PA3411U-1M1G. You can use two modules of 1 GB and maximally improve.

On HARD drive, upgrade is not easy to provide accurate information because I know that Toshiba s specification states that the HARD drive can be upgraded up to 80 GB. Unfortunately I didn't find any public documents on the exact list of compatible drives but I think you can improve it with 120 GB of HARD drive.

Boyfriend sorry but I didn't find more information. Perhaps someone with L30 will post here on the upgrade of the HARD drive.

  • You can install DDR3 1066 mhz Ram in the Satellite C660-116

You can install RAM DDR3 1066 mhz in this laptop?

    (C660-116)
1 GB of Ram DDR3 at 800 mhz
at 800 mhz front side bus

    Thank you

    Post edited by: jim155

You can, but it will not help you because the FSB is clocked at 800 Mhz and 1066 Mhz how fast would be clocked at 800 Mhz.

For example; you ve got a Ferrari but can't drive at full speed due to the alley. So why buy a Ferrari if you cannot drive faster ;)

  • Upgrading RAM on the Satellite X 200

    Hello

    I have a Satellite x 200-15 k. Since a few days I have installed RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB.
Questions I noticed that the system can read only 3 GB and note of graphic card get bigger as its support turbo cache. No idea why?

    The Web from Toshiba site master > standard system memory: 2 048 (1 024 + 1 024) MB
    Maximum extension: 4 096 MB
    Technology: DDR2 RAM (667 MHz)

    The graphic card manufacturer: NVIDIAî
Type: NVIDIAî Geforcea? ¢ 8700 M GT supports Turbocachea? ¢ technology
Memory: 256 MB of VRAM dedicated (up to 2047 MB of total available graphics memory using Turbocachea? ¢ technology with 4 GB of system memory)
Memory type: DDR video RAM (resp. video RAM DDR and DDR system memory combined)
Connected bus: PCI Express 16 x

    Hi mate,

I think that the problem might be in the configuration of the shared memory of the chipset, because the system takes 1 GB shared memory.
Unfortunately you have no influence since the chipset is automatically assign memory depending on how you install.

This is no design flaw rather it s (unfortunately) a decision to Intel/Nvidia.

In this case won´t you have a bit of luck but since Don t work you with CAD applications (which I suppose :)) or similar applications of "memory-hungry" won´t recognize you any show change if it would be different (if you have 4 GB available and not 3Gig))

  • Question about upgrading RAM for a Satellite A110-133

The following ram would work on the laptop mentioned above?

    Kingston KVR533D2S4 / 2 G 2048 mb so-dimm, 200 pin

    Thank you.
    Any input would be appreciated

    Hello

This page might be useful for you:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=24868&ft=m&St=3

    You need DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM barrettes.

But I doubt that the Kingston KVR533D2S4 / 2G 2048 mb would be fine because the A110 can be upgraded up to 2 GB, and in this case, you can only use 2 x 1 GB RAM modules

  • Upgrading RAM on the Satellite 1400-253 s

    Hi all

I have problems with some memory I bought for the computer above. Memory is purchased from Crucial, it's a 512 MB PC133 144pin sodimm (CT64M64S4W75.16FDY) stick
The problem I have is when I install it I get 3 beeps error (looks like 1 LNG 2 sheets), I tried to install it in different locations, by itself and with the old 128 MB memory stick, but I always impossible he can begin. I know that I have the right type of memory, but still this 'thing' will beep at me... What did I do wrong?

BTW, laptop working again if I am in the old 2 x 128 MB sticks

Of course, you bought not compatible RAM modules. I recommend to buy tested and recommended products manufacturer.

You have two options to do this. Initially, you can use the RAM memory modules recommended by Toshiba 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51) PC133 and PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25) or you can order high-quality Kingston modules.

Please visit http://www.kingston.com/products/default.asp and you will find the memory Configurator. This will help you find links to compatible memory for your laptop satellite.

    Bye and good luck!
