Upgrading to Windows 7 laptop HP Pavilion DV8380US
Hello world
I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV8380US #: EZ698UA #ABA. I want to upgrade this notebook to Windows 7 if possible.
The specifications are the following:
Windows Media Center operating system
Microprocessor 1.83 GHz Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology with Intel Core™ Duo T2400 processor
Microprocessor Cache 2 MB L2 Cache
Memory 2048 MB 667 MHz DDR2 memory (2 Dimm) system
Max memory 2048 MB
Video Graphics NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400
Discrete video memory 128 MB + 128 MB shared memory
Hard drive from 240 GB at 5400 RPM dual HDD (120 GB x 2)
Display 17.0 "WXGA + high-definition Ultra BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
Sound: Altec Lansing
Both hard drives are bad, so I plan to replace them with the largest possible size and a faster (7200 RPM).
Can you advise me:
a. the maximum hard disk size possible
b. If I go up to 7200 RPM
c. how much I need memory
d. other changes I need to do.
Thanks for the help
Ken
Hello
Here are my answers:
a & b: Yes, you can go to the (larger) 2.5 "9.5 mm on the market today and can be 7200 rpm or above.
c: up to the limit of the machine that is 2 GB, not more
d: you have to do it by yourself since HP support (no drivers for Windows 7 on HP websites). This forum can help you, but it is a pain.
You may be able to put the CPU. My suggestion: with the current market, why update an old machine when you can buy a much better new laptop and can be cheaper?
Kind regards.

Pavilion G4-2111TX: HP Windows 7 unable to upgrade to Windows 10 laptop
Have a HP Pavilion G4-2111TX laptop, running on Windows 7.
When trying to upgrade to Windows 10 to get this prompt:
"Air Display (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1).
The manufacturer of the screen did not your screen compatible with Windows 10.
Check with the manufacturer for support. "
Y at - it software or hardware, I can change to allow upgrading to W10?
What are my options?
Thank you.
Sorry, but HP did not Win10 driver for your device, and if you improve not to Win10, it is likely that you will be blocked from using the graphics card base - that would actually work.
HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for devices manufactured after August 2013.
It is not unusual for a Win7 machine NOT to be expandable to Win10 because the material, at the time, was not designed for compatibility Win10.

HP Windows 7 unable to upgrade to Windows 10 laptop
I trust HP for years since we got the first programmable HP hand-helds to JK Gill in 1976.
To find out that HP laptop I paid a lot for in 2010 is going to be completely obsolete is too sad for words. Is there SOLUTION No. at all for my computer? It's a HP dv7-3060us Entertainment Notebook. I bought with my money of colonization when I disabled for cancer. It has been a lifeline so far but now it is going to be obsolete? Is there nothing to do? There is no way to upgrade to windows 10? I happen to love windows 7 but I understand that it is a lost OS also.
Someone at - it answers?
Thank you very much
SissyBeans
@SissyBeans:
It is often better to have a laptop computer running an OS more old where everything works, only faced with a new operating system where things are 'broken. As long as it works OK for you, it is not "obsolete".
The problem, that you are facing is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific material found in laptops - and unfortunately, there is no HP Win10 laptop driver. HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for machines manufactured after August 2013. HP is not no matter what timetable indicating when, or IF, they will produce drivers for older machines.
So that you CAN update to Win10, I would personally recommend against him. I tried to update two portable Win7 on Win10 and upgrading two of them ransacked. Construction machinery 5 years ago only were not with Win10 in mind.
As for Win7 being a 'lost' BONE - if it is true that MS has ended mainstream support for Win7, MS don't end updates to security for your Windows 7 PC until January 14, 2020. So, there's lifes in Win7 for years to come.
As for not having Win10, I was a beta tester for Windows products and was one of the first initiates Windows test Win10 - and over the years of this, I have never been also disappointed by the total lack of improvements I have with Win10. Without new hardware and a touch screen, Win10 is a little more than Win8.2 - with a bunch of stuff that was moving and a new half-baked Start Menu, for which there are better alternative third-party. He misses you very much.

HP laptop purchased with Win Vista later upgraded to Windows 7 - laptop damaged
Hello
I bought a laptop HP with Win Vista later upgraded to Windows 7. Now, the laptop is damaged for the 2nd time. I would go for a locally assembled desktop computer with Intel, last configuration chipset.
Can I use Win Vista / Win 7 license key on my desktop? What installer I use (Win Vista or Win 7)? and how do I get the installer?
Thanks in advance
Best regards
PAL
Hello
You cannot transfer the license of Vista.
If Windows 7 Upgrade was not part of this upgrade offering free back then, you can transfer, but you need an operating system to be installed to upgrade.
Read this information and you will understand what I mean:
If the computer/laptop comes with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) or is licensed to OEM System Builders, that the product key that came with the computer/laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.
OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) and the license OEM System Builders are related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when machine who dies.
Only retail Operating System license that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.
And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.
See you soon.

Pavilion DM1: Problems upgrading to Windows 10 on HP Pavilion DM1 Notebook
The portable computer is currently running Windows 7 Professional, and I ran the upgrade of Windows 10. It goes through the first installation and re - start and then on the second phase, when it is installing the drivers, it gets to 71% and restarts with a blue screen, I think that showing as TENT RUN OF No. EXECUTE MEMORY, but it is not very long, so I do not know and rolls to Windows 7. I tried to disconnect external devices, try a clean boot, tried to update all the drivers, disable wifi and leaving on a single connection to the local network without success. I managed to last updated desktop for Windows 10 with only a little difficulty even if Windows has decided the display driver is not compatible, so it is a real headache.
Thank you. No, Kaspersky has not been installed, and I never installed it. Is used by McAfee, as sometimes it comes with Acrobat Reader? I installed once in an update and it removed immediately. Anyway, I found this file registered twice in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers and in a subfolder, it was not related to any existing process so I removed it, tried the upgrade again and he completed this time. If for any other person having this problem find the name of the file after ATTEMPTED RUN OF No. EXECUTE the MEMORY when the blue screen appears, which is very short and then delete this file. In my case it was kl1.sys. It was not however reflected in the report which appeared after system restored to Windows 7. Problem solved.

Where to download free Windows XP to upgrade a Windows 98 laptop?
I heard that you can download windows xp sp1 for free but I can't seem to find the properwebsite to download on an old laptop which still has windows 98 on it. Tell me where I can find if you know where to get in and download it for free. PLEASE?
Hello
There is no XP free download available from Microsoft.
If you can't find a free download on the Net it is hacked and probably infected by malicious software.
See you soon.

Very happy with this laptop HP bought 8 years ago. This computer never gave up although I use it a lot and do not stop it. the RAM memory is seriously too small for the work I do and I'm looking forward to develop as much as I can. From my research, I realized I can update up to 4 RAM. I need more but you want to continue to use this computer. Please confirm to me that I can do for this laptop, where can I find (live ram) memory to buy and how to do it myself. Thank you
From the Manual:
Supports up to 4 GB of RAM
PC2-5300 (667 MHz) DDRII
Supports the following configurations: 4096 (2048 × 2)
See p. 53 of the manual here for installation instructions:

Pavilion 15 laptop: as the Windows 10 laptop upgrade will not close or wake
Hello
Since the upgrade to Windows 10 my 15 Pavilion has acquired two new problems:
- It will not wake from sleep and requires a hard reboot to get it going again.
- When stopped down, the lights of the power and wifi stay and a hard stop via the power button is necessary.
I tried various fixes suggested in the Microsoft forum without success. HP Support says there is no update for my laptop. This issue is driving me crazy and I am very disappointed that HP seem so little to help.
The details of my machine are:
Product number: F8S59EA #ABU
BIOS: F.67-11/26/2014
Can someone please help?
- Download version 9 or 10 of the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) driver.
- Navigate to HP Software and Driver Downloads site (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html) to find the last pilot approved for your model. Filtrer filter by version, select Microsoft Windows 8.1 on the menu drop-down. Find the download in the category 'Driver-Chipset' If a pilot of MEI with a version from 9 or 10 number is listed, download. [9.5.24.1790 version 1.5 M (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe) works for most models.]
- If a pilot of MEI with a version from 9 or 10 number is NOT listed, download the driver appropriate directly from Intel (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=intel+management+engine). [9.5.24.1790 version 1.5 M (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23091/Intel-ME-9-Management-Engine-Driver-for-Intel-NUC) works for most models.]
- Download the Package of troubleshooting Windows 10 "show or hide updates" (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F22D5FDB-59CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab).
- Change the Windows Update Services automatic (delayed start) parameter to the manual.
- In Control Panel, select administrative tools, and open Services.
- Go to Windows Update and double-click it to view its properties.
- Click on stop to stop the service to run.
- Change the Startup Type to manual, and then click OK.
- Install version 9 or 10 of the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) driver. If you receive a warning dialog box about the replacement of a newer version of the software, accept it.
- NOTE: You have NO need to uninstall version 11 before installing version 9 or 10. The presence of a version of the driver is required to 'upgrade' (or demote in this case).
- Run the Windows 10 Troubleshooting Package 'Show or hide updates' and hide the updates of the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) driver. (This will block your system automatically reinstall or display of updates for version 11 of the pilot).
- Change back the setting of Windows Update Services to manual automatic (delayed start).
- Restart your computer.
- Rejoice! You can finally sleep and stop again.

HP 15-r078tu Notebook PC: problem of brightness after upgrade to Windows 10 - r078tu
I use HP 15-r078tu Notebook PC. After the upgrade to windows 10 laptop brightness was awkward. I always work with a minimum brightness. But after the upgrade of the brightness of the screen is high, even when I set minimum height in power options. When I keep up it is brighter than before. And after the upgrade, the brightness control buttons work abnormally. Reduce the brightness button is increases the slide of the brightness and the brightness button increase it decreases. After a reboot, it works fine, but only after a reboot whenever you turn on the laptop. I checked all updates in assistant hp support and updated all the drivers. I also checked the online solutions for
1. change the display adapters in Device Manager
2. check updates
3 go back to the previous driver and even after change to basic brightness microsoft display adapter is the same (he doesn't) even fit in (buttons) hardware / software (power options).
Nothing has worked. Any solution please?
This driver is listed under the W10 drivers section, even if it's for W8.1 and more.
You might want to try this one.
This package provides the driver that allows graphics Intel high definition (HD) in the notebook models that are running an operating system supported. If the video output high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.
File name: sp69589.exe
If this one doesn't work either, unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Laptop HP Pavilion G6 audio problem
Windows of laptop HP Pavilion G6 8. .i brought this laptop last year but now audio is not working properly, all the time I need to restart the laptop to play sounds... and its very frustrating... Please help me to understand the problem and the solution for the same.
Thank you in advance.
Hello
Try the following.
Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.
Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall. Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates". You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".
After that, you may or may not need to remove and reload the Audio driver (probably IDT) - If you do, how to use the Recovery Manager to reinstall the software and drivers is detailed in the document at the link below.
Kind regards
