URL to hyperlink issues

I'm running into some problems with some usual URLS which have been converted into hyperlinks by using the

Convert URLS in Hyperlinks command

You can see the URL in this example page.

https://INDD.Adobe.com/view/7f971813-85c8-4B6D-9054-36a0e3d12284?ref=IDE

They all contain the word "file:" in the URL.

Two questions

1. the convert command... split the URL into two hyperlinks:

one for the party to file:
the second for the start of the game with the file:

I used the hyperlink Panel to restore the hyperlinks and encountered the following problem

2. I manually entered the full URL as a hyperlink, just Edit the hypertext links created by the URL to convert to the order of hyperlinks.

The results are links in rows, 2.3 4 in the link above.

ONLY the first part of the URL is online!  Until the: after file

But when I manually create the hyperlink (row 1) everything works as expected.

Issues related to the:

This is a bug in the convert all URLS in hyperlinks or there is a problem with the current version to publish online.

Is there a better solution than the manual creation of 20-30 hyperlnks. Not a huge problem, but it would be good to know.

Jim

It looks more like a bug to me. You can report it here: feature request/Bug Report Form. I can't think of one solution other than what you do.

    It works very well.  Use the screening of high printing quality, but think about what resolution for your graphics card.  In fact if you have higher res images online versions, you can hot link to them from the PDF file.  I used to publish a magazine of the club until a couple of years, and while I've used InDesign, output to PDF format was exactly the same process

  • Convert URLS into hyperlink fails with long links

    Using InDesign CS5, I have a document with thousands of URLs, some of them very long.  Weeks, I used convert URLS into hyperlink in the hyperlinks Panel menu. I used all convert. After exporting to ePub, I discovered that about 10% of all URLS were detected wrong by InDesign CS5.

    For example, this URL:

    http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2011/2/24/gap-achievement-Ferguson-students/#

    has been converted into a hyperlink to:

    http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2011/2/24/gap

    I have hundreds of examples. It is not always a dashboard that has caused the problem.

    This URL has been split into two hyperlinks to text conteract Hypertext in the middle.

    Original text: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0, 9171,1647452,00.html

    After using convert URLS into hyperlink, I have now:

    First hyperlink: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article

    text in the Middle without a hyperlink:, 9171,1647452,

    Second hyperlink: 00.primeras html

    Apparently, there are a lot of characters that are valid inside a hyperlink that trick InDesign into thinking that the URL is complete.

    I suspect that there is a solution to this problem, other than do not use to convert URLS into hyperlink. At present, I'm manually editing each of the hyperlinks in the .xhtml file that I unzipped from the ePub screwed in place.

  • Missing http after convert URLS into hyperlink in CS5.5

    I add hyperlinks to a long document using "Convert URLS into hyperlinks" of InDesign CS5.5

    This works pretty well, but I'm having a problem with URLS that do not begin with http or www as part of the text (IE with example.com not www.example.com). Product from those hyperlinks don't get not one http:// inserted. So when you produce an interactive PDF, these links act as links and are preceded by the path of the file to the PDF file

    Example:

    In the text is a website example.com/details. When you run "Convert of URL in hyperlink", this becomes a hyperlink created with a URL to example.com/details. I then export to interactive PDF file on my drive jobs/project123/PDF. When you click on this link in Acrobat, it tries to open

    file:///volumes/jobs/project123/PDFs/example.com/details

    Instead of

    http://example.com/details

    Is there a way to make InDesign automatically inserts the necessary http:// in the destination of the hyperlink to this absolute link, or I have to edit each destination by hand?

    Oops!

    Some sort of error to copy - paste internal brain here, I think. I tested more of it than this, but I made a mistake in keeping it writing.

    The problem is that, as imagine you, a hyperLinkURLDestination is not a string. The string inside what matters is the property of destinationURL , then use it, as well in the test and change:

        if (!hls[i].destinationURL.match('://')) {
            hls[i].destinationURL = 'http://' + hls[i].destinationURL;

  • URL of hyperlinks in Acrobat (and InDesign) open in new tab/window

    I don't really understand why this feature is not yet implemented. I tried to google a workaround solution and found hundreds of messages around this problem. People asking how they could do this since 2002 (the oldest post I could find) maybe earlier.

    Please make sure that Acrobat - and also InDesign - get this feature in the next version - because people want to have!

    What I speak?

    The following functionality:

    I understand a textlink or and Image-link in a PDF file.

    Because Standard browser settings, most of the people who download a PDF file see the PDF in a browser tab. Now, if they hit one of the links (included in the PDF) the link opens in the same window/tab. The PDF is closed. The only way to get back to the PDF document is to hit the back button on the browser or reload the PDF file. Normally, I like to open these links in a new tab or window. But there is no function in Acrobat, or InDesign to open the link in a new TAB/window.

    I know there is a possibillity using JavaScript (app.launchURL ("http://www.MySampleURL.com/someFolder/somePage.html", true) ;))

    and it worked. But now because of the security settings for Acrobat X and later it only works if the user changes the settings. Thus, it is therefore more useful because most users do not know how the links work.

    So for the moment, there is NO WAY to make the link open in a new tab.

    I know not if I link to another file, he askes me where the open - new window, or the same. Why can't you implement it for URL too?

    Sorry, I tried all day to fix this. And I don't understand why Adobe doesn't look like a customer there needs (since 2002 or an earlier version).

    Since no one has posted a response within two years - I think it would be good for someone to do.

    I hate to say this... but is not problem from Adobe to solve simply because Adobe has more the PDF specification.  I suggest that join you the Association of PDF (pdfa.org) on how to submit suggestions to have the amended specification.  As PDF 2.0 is nearing completion, this will most likely not even be watched until the next set of changes.

    As a stop-gap measure a compliant reader may have some sort of setting to support some kind of default behavior (PDF open links in a new tab).

    Remember, the purpose of a link (or button as a link), is to take you to an external destination.  Currently, there are no facilities within the PDF specification to bring it to manipulate the local user interface.  Open a new window or a new tab?  If a new windows, what size, position, zoom, rotation, etc. do I? I do it in the foreground or background?  How this metadata will be stored in the PDF file? What kind of impact that will have on PDF files and the tools existing?  What happens if the local user does not want any of this to happen? Who gets the last word in this matter?

    Now, one day, there are many more PDF readers only existed in 2013.  Beyond Adobe Reader and FoxIT, pretty much all browsers has one. With OS / X Preview and a bunch of other visualization tools.  Not only do you need get the specifications to be changed, but these tools need to support change.  And how they implemented it may or may not be what you're asking.

    I'm not saying what you ask is impossible, or even offline.  Honestly, it looks like a good idea.  I just make you aware that the details are in the implementation. A lot of players here must be involved and goes in the same direction.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

  • Create hyperlinks for all URLS in the text... possible?

    Hi all

    I'm starting to learn how to make books ePub files I put on the page and I have developed with a very annoying problem. In the notes or bibliography, he has often URLS in the text. I need have related them on the site, they refer to in the ePub. I wish that there is really a sort of way automated to do, because if it is not possible, I do not see do me it manually for a book in full...

    Then, well, you guys help me with this? I'm really bad in script so I don't know if it's possible, but... Thanks anyway!

    Annabelle

    If you are using CS5 or CS5.5 (the latter is strongly recommended for all things EPub), "Convert URL into hyperlinks" is a hyperlink palette menu command:

    Hello
    When using Firefox on a Windows system, I can get a url (no hyperlink) open in a new tab by dragging the address bar while pressing the Alt key on the keyboard.
    Now I use Firefox (latest version) on a Linux system (Linux Mint 14, specifically), but I can't do the same thing. is there a solution of reproduc this behavior?

    Dragging the URL/text next to a tab should open in a new tab. It does not?

    You should be drag text to the area shown on this screenshot.

  • Android Viewer cannot open a pdf hyperlink

    Hi all, we have just launched an Android phone app (we already do a lot of iOS ones) and for some reason any URL of hyperlink to a pdf file does not open on the android phone. It seems that the display of web pages in android won't open a pdf file. Is this the case? And there at - it another way to do this?

    Graham

    If you create a hyperlink to a PDF file on a Web site, it should open in the web browser external and then downloaded. Android isn't a web view control developers can use that offers a rendering directly a PDF file as we can use it on iOS.

  • Presenter URL usage

    Anyone know how to add a link to a URL in the sidebar? It would be nice to use the email button that is part of the anchor properties, but what I see that can be an email address invalid. In Articulate, you can use an e-mail or URL and change the text on the button for what you want. Is it possible to do something similar to Adobe Presenter?

    Thank you!

    Katherine

    Hello Katherine,

    In Adobe Presenter, we can provide a URL in a presentation, but not to the sidebar. Here are steps to include a URL:-

    1) go to Adobe Presenter > settings > attachments

    2) click on the ' Add ' button.

    (3) select menu 'Type' to the bottom and select the option 'links '.

    (4) enter "URL" in the location field.

    (5) publishes the presentation

    (6) at the output of published button right playback bar have icon "seizure". Click on this to open a URL.

    If you want to just mention information of URL without hyperlink to this URL (though not a good idea). Then, you can do this in the biography or Notes section.

    Kind regards

  • navigateTo URL

    Currently I'm building a CD ROM where flash animations and files are divided into sections and each section has its own web page.

    Swf files are loaded into web pages according to the nomal, so they can be transferred to the internet at a later date. When an animation plays at the end of the timeline the user is automatically transferred to the page html index section. I used the following code, taken from the manual to perform this redirection at the end of the timeline.

    var targetURL: request URL = new URLRequest("chrome/start.html");

    navigateToURL (targetURL, "_self");

    The addresses of the file are correct. It works on my machine. I used the relative URL to resolve issues on a CD-ROM.  I can't find anyway to make this work on a CD-ROM I have get the active content warnings in IE7 and don't know how to get around this problem. There is a link on Adobe somewhere on the use of one different object in another URL request for a workaround. Can someone on this forum or solutions to this problem or where to find them. I am currently using AS3 and Actionscript 3. No doubt there is something that I missed.

    Thank you.

    RB

    You want to look in the ExternalInterface class.

    This method is the standard solution.  Rather than call navigateToURL (or getURL for AS2 users), you call a function javascript on the page and Javascript code causes the redirection page.

  • Audit of permissions is caused a late start the Application

    Hello

    In my application, I register the Application with HttpFilter registry. So if I open a particular link, I go to the browser and back again to the application. Now, to do this, I created an entry point. And I take some permissions. Now the question is, I write permission in the Main method of the Application. So every time it is check approval and launch the application. So, there are a few seconds(5-6) delay in the launch of the application.   Here is the code for the permissions:

     /** @return true if the user has accepted permissions requests */
        public static boolean hasPermissions() {
           ApplicationPermissionsManager apm = ApplicationPermissionsManager.getInstance();
           ApplicationPermissions original = apm.getApplicationPermissions();

           if(original.getPermission(ApplicationPermissions.PERMISSION_BROWSER_FILTER) == ApplicationPermissions.VALUE_ALLOW)
           {
              return true;
           } else {
              return false;
           }
        }

        /** @return true if the user has accepted / granted permissions */
        public static boolean checkPermissions() {
           if (!hasPermissions()) {
              ApplicationPermissions permRequest = new ApplicationPermissions();
              permRequest.addPermission(ApplicationPermissions.PERMISSION_BROWSER_FILTER);
              return ApplicationPermissionsManager.getInstance().invokePermissionsRequest(permRequest);
           } else {
              return true;
           }
        }

    And here I check in the main method:

    public static void main(String args[])
        {
            if(checkPermissions());
            {
                try {
                    if((args != null) && (args.length > 0) && (args[0].equals("background")))
                    {

                        Logger.out("AppLaunch", "in the alternate entry point");
                        HttpFilterRegistry.registerFilter("URL", "packagename");
                    }
                    else if(args != null)
                    {
                        Logger.out("AppLaunch", "Inside the Applaunch");
                        theApp = new ArcotOtpApp();
                        Logger.out("AppLaunch", "created the app launch object");
                        theApp.enterEventDispatcher();
                    }
                } catch (Exception e) {
                    // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                    Logger.out("AppLaunch", "Exception::::::11111111" +e);
                }
            }

        }

    Can you please tell me where I am doing wrong or what is the right way so that the time will not be there.

    Thank you very much Peter. I check out on your way. It was not the issue of the authorization. There was another object instantiations are pass while going to the main screen. Which are at the origin of the slower launch.

    Thanks again.

  • Linking to a project on a website - unanswered question

    Hi guys

    I posted the question below on the forum last week and have not received response - can anyone help please today?

    Hi guys

    I wonder if this issue is so obvious, because I have not found an answer on this forum, but I thought I should ask him to be totally sure that:

    I'm developing a series of projects of reactive nature, links to which I want to publish a Web site to be accessed from a computer, laptop, mobile or tablet. The way I imagine it could work it is that when I post a link will appear on this site where students can click on a laptop or a mobile/tablet device that would then play the relevant project in a separate window.

    AM I correct in this understanding and are there restrictions / traps I need to take into account. I am running with version 8

    Thanks for your help

    Hamada

    No worries, no worries. It is good to ask questions about the basic assumptions, especially if you are about to embark on a major project. What you have described is quite feasible. If you are having problems, it'll be because of server or hyperlinks issues (rather than anything intrinsic to Captivate).

  • AppleScript to create the thumbnail of the file selected with hyperlink to the URL of the file

    Hello

    I need an AppleScript script to copy to the Clipboard a thumbnail of a selected file (s. picture 1 below) with a hyperlink to the URL of the selected file.

    I have a script that allows me to get the URL of the file and copy it to the Clipboard. But then I have to paste the URL into my Document, back to the finder, make a screenshot of the thumbnail of the file, paste this screenshot and enter the URL (manually copy) of the file (choose the context menu of the image) (s. image 2 below):

    Is there a way to automate this?

    I could do the screenshot manually, this is actually no problem, but then I would need to attribute this screenshot on a Clipboard 1, go back and get the URL of the file and attribute it to Clipboard 2 and then go to my document and paste Clipboard 1 first, chose the menu popup "hyperlink" and the Clipboard paste 2.

    I would be grateful for the help!

    Kind regards

    Kai - Uwe

    Kai - Uwe,

    OpenOffice or LibreOffice aren't outwardly scriptable with AppleScript or Automator, as to exclude these two applications that support. They are inwardly Python scriptable via their respective SDK.

    I became aware of a solution of AppleScript that invites for the input file, then uses a custom (port) application that uses QuickLook to generate an image thumbnail jpg to your specified output destination. I added a line of AppleScript that sends the URL of the file to the Clipboard.

    After running the script, I can paste the URL of the document in LibreOffice and follow by drag and drop the jpg thumbnail afterwards.

    Do you want me to post the directions for this solution. In its current form, it is not written for processing batch.
