USB malfunction

I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but a month or two ago I got a Hauppauge HD PVR, and it ran perfectly on my computer and have no issues. I come home from school early May and it stops working saying "USB malfunction" I had it replaced and it still says a malfunction USB. The new replacement worked for a good two or three minutes before screwing on me. Any suggestions?

I have several things connected to my USB ports, keyboard, mouse, IPOD, everything works perfectly, but the PVR will not work.

  • Toshiba Satellite A305 - S6898 USB malfunction

    Greetings and Salutations,

I have an interesting dilemma with my Satellite laptop. Whenever I try to use the USB ports for devices in addition to my hub, keyboard and mouse, I get the error "USB device not recognized" infamous. Of course, this means that the unit does not operate. This happens on any of the three USB ports on my computer, but NOT with my keyboard, the mouse, or the hub they are connected.

Now, lets hit some suggestions out of water before I give myself, because so far, I tried pretty much everything that has been suggested for this problem.

I tried to uninstall the ports and allowing Windows to reinstall the drivers after reboot. That did not correct the error.

I tried formatting the computer completely and put on a new installation of Windows. That did not correct the error.

I tried the fix 'disconnect the computer's power. I left said computer turned off and disconnected from any source of energy for more than twenty-four hours. That did not correct the error.

I updated the BIOS OF THE system to the latest version. That did not correct the error.

There is no virus or malware in the system that can cause this error, as I indicated above, I formatted the system entirely, and he failed to correct the problem.

I went into Device Manager with devices hidden showing and removed all USB devices hidden, disconnected from the past. This did not correct the error either.

Essentially, I tried just about everything has proposed as a possible solution and come up with nothing. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's either BIOS or related material, but it is meaningless for me something associated material would allow SOME devices (keyboard, mouse and Hub) to function, while others do not.

If anyone has a solution I've tried there, please let me know. Specifications system and operating system to follow.

Given that you re-installed Windows pointing to a hardware problem, however there may be a required chipset or

  • Peripheral USB malfunctioned after fashion "Eve" laptop computer in Vista

If I turn off my cell during the night and then open it in the morning, it works very well for a while and then this happens. The sound begins to become an anachid. USB devices don't work. I can't connect the printer, a USB key or CDMA cell phone through which I connect to the internet. Even the bluetooth connection does not work. This works for two or three hours if he rested all night. If I let it sit for an hour in the afternoon, and then open the computer it works for only about half an hour or so when the problem is recurring.

Either your laptop is overheating and/or your equipment is faulty when it's hot. Since it is a laptop, the question is on the motherboard. If the laptop is still under warranty, contact technical support of the portable mftr.. If this isn't the case, then you must decide whether to spend rather a lot of money on the replacement of the motherboard based on age and the initial cost of the laptop. • USB MALFUNCTION. EVERY SECOND, PLUG UNPLUG ANY USB NOT CONNECTED SOUND. BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

I also wanted to put this up as a background for my laptop.

WAAAAY before this problem started my webcam stopped working and when I close my laptop, then open it again (pulling on my screen down and closing laptop then pull the screen up) the computer refuses to start and just flashes, forcing me to remove and replace the battery to restart. I don't know if it is a symptom that lead to my problem, but could you give me some advice on this? Like, it would be something that lead to the problem or should I start individual questions for specific help on each problem?

From what you describe, it looks like there may be a hardware problem with the webcam.

Can you try disabling the webcam in Device Manager, restart the computer and then see if the blue stop screen error.

    His salvation,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    1. What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?
    2. If it works much earlier? If so, did you do changes on the computer before this problem?
    3. What type of USB device you are using?

As you mentioned that the USB device does not work when plugged into a WinXP machine, it may be a problem with the device itself. In addition, the question may also arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows.

Therefore, I suggest you try the following methods (skip the ones that you already tried) and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
    5. Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

If the problem persists, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

This method will install the latest drivers from device to your USB device.

    1. Click the Start button, type Windows Update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the results pane.
    2. Click find updates. When the scan finished, click optional review updates.
    3. Click the check box next to the update, and then click install updates.
    4. If you are prompted, read the license agreement, then click I agree.
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install updates.
    6. If you are prompted, restart your computer.

If the device fails after updating the driver, you can try to roll back the driver with its previous version.

So I was pretty stupid and while trying to solve a problem of small equipment (who did get fixed), updated the BIOS from the support section. Now I'm in my ears with a lot of other small problems (USBs malfunction every 10 minutes, forcing a reset. • Sansa e280 not recognized by the pc

Hi all! I'm new here and I recently had a problem with my sansa 280. I know that for my sansa display in the pc I need to put it on the usb mtp mode. But when I put it on the pc, it does not recognize my computer and he says: "usb malfunctioned or not recognized by the pc. When my sandisk is out of the computer works perfectly. How can I get my computer to recognize the sandisk card? I want to put more music on this subject, and I can't! I use windows vista. Please help me, I would appreciate your help a lot!

I had your exact the same problem. You can read in the thread I started. I pasted the answer that worked for me here.

Download Windows Media Player 10 or 11 from www.microsoft.com and reinstall it. This usually fixes things. Next step, but only if this does not work, is to get the "MTP Porting Kit" from Microsoft and install it.

  • My Live View would not start or start...

Had this problem until I saw all of a sudden screen cleared and I could not start no matter how hard I pressed the buttons. In order to reset I took it to the store I bought. The display took the piece and after almost 2 days he returned saying that COMTEL would not cover up for accessories. I called the service center and asked how when offers a limited warranty, they are supported. This gentleman had no answer, but that he would accept neither of my room. Instead he suggested me to get a replacement from the store, I bought. As we were talking about the issue, the display has tried to load my mode live view and the red light on to my great surprise, which indicates that it worked. Then he started to initiate and work. When I got home, I got to know the mode Live View has had an update, I did. 2 months after there was no question too... But still today, after a full charge, it would not start again. I tried to plug into my laptop to update the software, but my laptop indicates that the USB malfunction, indicating that the Live View mode is a.

I don't know what to do... I love my Live View... Its great use while driving, on a session and in places outside, where the silent noise your cell phone ringing...

But, I think that the problem starts, if we have to charge the unit. Which could be considered if you are developing a software update for the same.

Sorry to be too eloborate... Thank you for your time.

First of all - welcome to the forum!

Where are you from and how old is your LiveView? All the accessories are getting 12 months warranty on most of the markets (6 months in some markets).

It might be that the service contracted by your dealer Center isn't HVC (high volume Center). They should, however, help and if so send the LiveView to a service center that allows to fix it.

You can try to contact local support Office and ask for a service center that can fix your LiveView.

  • Microsoft Arc Touch radio stopped working

Microsoft Arc Mouse transceiver does not work; Windows says that "peripheral USB malfunctioned." The mouse can not enter! The lights of the mouse still light up, but the transmitter/receiver simply doesn't work. Was working fine a few days ago, but now it's broken. Also does not work on my chromebook. Any ideas on how to fix? Already tried to uninstall the driver and Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Center, reinstall, uninstall driver from Device Manager and reboot, but does not work...

    Zephyrean salvation,

First of all, I suggest you to test the Microsoft Arc Touch transmitter on another computer. If it doesn't, then it may be a problem with the hardware.

If it does not work, follow these methods to solve the problem:

    Method 1:

Try to plug the Microsoft Arc Touch mouse on another USB (Universal Serial Bus) port and check if it works:

    Method 2:

As you have already tried to uninstall the drivers for the device and put it back, I suggest you to disable and re-enable the USB controllers:

    a. right click on Startand then click run.

    b. type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. Device Manager opens.

    c. expand Bus USB controllers.
Note: You need to scroll the list to find this point.

    d. right-click the first USB controller under USB Bus controllersand then click Uninstall to remove it.

    e. Repeat step 4 for each USB controller is listed under Bus USB controllers.

Note: restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically check for changes on the hardware and reinstall all USB controllers that you uninstalled.

  • Device USB not recognized - device connected USB has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it

I have a HP Pavilion dv4 laptop running Windows 7 Home Edition Premium and the USB ports worked well for a HP deskjet printer and an older Casio digital camera. Then one day, the laptop decided not to recognize the Casio digital camera and gave the error message "USB device not recognized" and also indicated that the device connected to the computer has malfunctioned. This prompted me to buy a new digital camera Canon. Well, a new camera has not fixed the problem. Now, anything that is connected to one of the 2 ports USB will not be recognized by my laptop. Help!  I am at a loss to understand this.  I tried using Microsoft suggested below:

Suggestion 1: the problem with USB devices, uninstall and reinstall all USB controllers. This allows controllers to recover the port USB of his condition does not respond.
USB controllers represent the USB ports in Device Manager.

    a. Click Start, type Manager of devices in the search box of start and press ENTER.
    b. expand Bus USB controllers.
Note: you may scroll through the list to find this point.
    c. the first USB controller under Bus USB controllers right click and then click on uninstall to remove it.
    d. Repeat steps above for each controller USB is listed under Bus USB controllers.
    e. restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically check for changes on the hardware and reinstall all USB controllers that you uninstalled.
    f. check the USB device to see if it works.

This has not fixed the problem.  Then the Device Manager, I tried to update the drivers on all the USB controllers and root hubs. While some may have received software updates downloaded, it still has not corrected the problem of unrecognized USB device after the computer is restarted.  I hope that someone knows the solution to this situation and can pass it on to me. Thanks for reading and any help display.

Read previous messages revealed the solution for USB devices not recognized on my HP Pavilion as well as several other laptop models.  Shut down the computer and remove the battery and wait for about 15 minutes. Reinstall the battery and restart the computer.  USB ports are working to download pictures from my digital camera from Canon and charging a cell phone, etc...   I hope it helps others with this problem!
