I have two USB mass storage devices.  The sizes are 320 GB and a to.  I had problems at the start to automatically detect a storage device.  After reaching the Office I can usually unplugg the 320 device, reconnect, Windows detects the device.

August 10, I bought an an external HDD TB to start the backup of my entire C: drive operations.  I rebooted automatically while watching a DVD tonight.  I rebooted the PC and hanged when executing start-up procedure notice of automatic detection procedures.  I held the Start button to shut off the PC. I unplugged the external hard drive, PC rebooted. Start continued without external devices.  I reconnected it the external hard drive upon arriving at the office.

The purchase of an external hard drive, see the same issue using the smallest disk, tells me that the error is in the operating system.

    Hi Troy382438,

    1. is this startup crashes before windows loads?

    2. you have SP2 installed on your computer?

If windows hangs at the POST (Power-on-self-test), you may need to update the drivers from the motherboard.

If windows crashes after windows loads, you can try the following steps.

    Step 1

Install SP2 if it is not installed.

    Step 2

Run a SFC (System File Checker) scan.

  • "This USB mass storage device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a USB 3.0 port Superspeed ' when the device is already connected to a USB 3.0 port.

I just bought and installed a USB 3.0 card. It is the Startech PEXUSB3S2 PCIe card. I installed the card in a PCIe 2.0 X 1 slot. The manual says it's exactly the slot, that it supports.

The Manager device displays NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller and NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Root Hub are installed and are working correctly. I have a Thermaltake BLACX5G 5 G USB 3.0 hard drive caddy. The transfer rate is only 35 MB/s using the HDTune benchmark. It is a USB 2.0 speed.

When the player is turned on, windows displays the message "this USB mass storage device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a Super speed USB 3.0 port»

For some reason, the system doesn't see the caddy to drive USB 3.0 as being plugged into a USB 3.0 port, when it actually is.

I remember having this same problem with Windows XP, when I bought a USB 2.0 card. The only thing that fixed it at the time was upgraded to XP SP2.

This should not be a problem because I know that Windows 7 pro 64-bit supports USB 3.0.

My motherboard is an ASUS P5QL-EM support an Intel Core 2 Quad and 4 GB of DDR2 memory. According to the manual owner the PCIe x 1 slots support architecture 1.0 and 2.0.

Edit: I just tested the external hard drive and expansion card USB 3.0 on my motherboard Gigabyte of friends running Windows XP. Everything worked perfectly, no problems at all.

Here, there is a problem with Windows 7 or the motherboard. Still unresolved, currently installs a floppy drive so I can update the firmware of my motherboard.

I checked the implementation of the card several times, removed and installed in another motherboard to test, then removed and reinstalled again in my motherboard ASUS check several times for a fit course.  It still does not work. I have just completed update the firmware of the motherboard with the latest version, and I also did a new install of Windows 7, install the drivers USB 3.0 immediately after installing Windows over. None of this solves the problem.

I'm running out of ideas on how to fix this without doing something drastic as a replacement for my motherboard. I don't want the speed of USB 3.0, but I don't think I'm ready for an another two or three hundred dollars to get it.

I've been all over the ' net trying to find a solution and read tons about USB USB 3.0 specifically and in general. I can find no reason why the drivers would install and report that they are working correctly, but fail to connect to 3.0 speeds. I think that this would generate a certain type of error instead of such a strange symptom.

    EDIT:

Here go us. I knew that is was a bad idea to buy one main (ASUS P5QL-EM) card that had to be overclocked to 1066 MHz for DRAM memory. I did all this work, and every time I reset my BIOS or updated it would always be the frequency DRAM back to where it should be (1066). After a reset of the computer was the starter and I just let it start instead of setting the DRAM frequency and, suddenly, USB 3.0 card worked perfectly. I confirmed this by setting the frequency to 1066 and looking at the USB 3.0 card fail again. I guess it must have something to do with the clock being sent to the PCIe bus.

In any case, the USB 3.0 card works perfectly and gives me a transfer rate HD Tune to 99 MB/s on a drive from WD SATA 7200 RPM and 86.1 Mbps on a Samsung drive hard 5400 RPM / MIN 3,5 "SATA. These are the same reference points I get when these drives are connected to my internal SATA connectors. I'd say USB 3.o works perfectly now and maxing out the hard drives performance.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Removed USB mass storage?

    Dear Sony,

Is there a reason that you have removed the USB Mass Storage of the Z5 and whatever it is running the latest firmware?

No no no MSC makes very difficult synchronization and backup of the phone using 3rd party applications.  I wouldn't mind if there was an easy way to do it using the Sony PC Companion.  IE just sync the photos (and a few other folders) from the phone to a folder on the connected PC.

Please add this feature to the rear.  The reason that many users choose Android rather than the other option is they like to have a choice and not all decisions made for them.

I always liked Sony phones for relative of installed Android Vanilla flavor.

ANY device Android 4.0 and higher use of PSG...  It was removed by Google and you need to bring it up with them the reasons for the removal.

  • USB Mass Storage Device problem

I have the HP Pavilion Elite E9120f desktop computer. Whenever I start the computer, it shows that I have USB mass storage drives, G, H, I and J. However, there is no attached USB mass storage device. No one knows why this happens? I just usually click on the removal of the safety equipment and remove false devices. • Problem ejecting USB Mass Storage Device [Unlocker doesn't work]

    Hey everybody,

Just like everyone else, I get a pop-up message when trying to eject my external hard drive WD: "problem ejecting USB Mass Storage Device. Windows can't stop... "and so on." This does not work when I've only sailed on the disk, but it does, for example, when I made a mistake - check or make a backup. I already checked the forums, but unlike everyone else, third-party programs do not work for me.
    I did the following:

    -closed open task

    -disabled virus scanner

-used Unlocker and Process Explorer, but he can't find any process that locks my drive. What happens here?

    -rebooted in safe mode

    -disabled indexing

It makes me crazy that I have to restart whenever I want my drive to eject.

Oh, and I use Windows 7.

Can someone help me solve this problem?

    Hello

    (1) is limited to any specific USB device?

    (2) did you try to connect the device to a different USB port and check if you are facing a similar question?

This problem may occur if there are handles open with all the files in the USB (Universal Serial Bus) mass storage device are in use by another program. Follow these methods and check if that helps.

    Method 1:

I suggest you run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter to check if it helps.

Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

    Method 2:

I suggest you to check and clean the boot if any third-party program is causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista and Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Warning: After you used the clean boot in order to solve your problem follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual.

    Connecting and disconnecting USB devices:

Most USB devices can be removed and disconnected at will. When you unplug the devices of storage, such as USB flash drives, you should be sure that the computer has finished saving all the information on the device before removing it. If the device has an activity light, wait a few seconds after the light has finished flashing before unplugging.

If you see the icon remove the device safely in to the far right of the taskbar notification area, you can use this to ensure that devices have finished all operations in progress and are ready to remove. Click the icon and you will see a list of devices. Click the device you want to remove.

You can use any USB port when you plug in a device you have installed beforehand. However, the first time you connect a device to a particular port, Windows will install the driver for this device again.

  • USB mass storage driver update

I have three USB keys from various manufacturers, none of which can be mounted by Windows 7.  When I Plug one in, Device Manager it shows under "Other devices" with the yellow exclamation point.  I right-click, select Properties, the error message "Code 28", click on "Update Driver", and after some research, I get this error:

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error trying to install it.
    USB mass storage device
The system cannot find the specified file.

I also three are "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" that I can't fix it for the same reasons, but I am happy to have solved the problem of USB.

I watched all my points of system restore to see if all drivers could be affected by the restoration, but saw nothing.

All forums 'remedy', I found say "get the driver from the manufacturer", but all the manufacturers say "Microsoft Update".  Does anyone have a suggestion?

A final report on this issue.  I bit the bullet and made a "in-place upgrade", which I think was called a 'repair installation '.  In addition to the hopelessly long time that this process took, the more interesting I noticed the thing was towards the end of the installation, I got a report that the .NET framework version 4 has been damaged.  Sure, I have no idea how it was damaged, but that could go a long way to explain the variety of issues that were beginning to annoy me.

If I seem to be well again; at least, I can mount the USB keys, which is what prompted all.  Thanks for your help; I hope that I have does not work in this new.

What series of notebook or laptop model do you have?
Could you please put the whole number? It would be very useful for further study.

All the installation driver Toshiba must be made in the right order.
In most cases, you would find a txt file of installation instruction on the Toshiba driver page.
You must follow these instructions to ensure that all drivers would be executed correctly.
