• Is contribute CS 6.5 still a viable and useful software in 2016?

  I'm considering the purchase of contribute CS 6.5 but wonder if this is a mistake.

  Here's my concern:

  In 2016, I have some customers who want to use it for "event listings" simple HTML "landing page" mobile sites (compared to reactive complete Web sites).   I was wondering if contribute 6.5 CS was still useful to let customers make their own changes.  BUT I NOTICED CS 6.5 Contribute is 3 or 4 years old... and pretty much a legacy without hope for future software updates (right?).

  Anyway.  Here's my question:

  In 2016, contributing 6.5 CS is useful for editing on simple HTML mobile site?

  Or is too obsolete to be of great use more Contribute?

  I have to give you a resounding "no". Contribute is beyond end of life and will not be updated or no longer supported by Adobe. It does not work on Windows 10 (not sure about 8 but it runs at 7).

  I would look for another Content Management System or WYSIWYG editor if this is what you need. Be advised, if it's a CMS you need (what contribute), you have several choices, but you'll want to look around before you build the site. Some of them require that the site is created for use with this tool.

  If you do not work with the code, you should not use Dreamweaver.  The learning curve can be quite steep.  My advice is to continue to use Contribute or learn HTML & CSS first.

  I'm looking into using Adobe Contribute as a CMS for our intranet. Each Department has their own section, which they would like to publish and modify as needed. My guess is 'Yes', but to confirm, if anyone knows - what I have to buy copies of Adobe Contribute for each user who will be granted these permissions? If there are 6 departments - are talking us about to buy 6 copies of Contribute to be installed on their computer? Please advice... Thank you!

  I wish to inform you that a contribute license can be installed on both machines max, but executed on one machine at a time.

  In your case if 6 users will work to contribute entered then you will need to buy 6 licenses of Adobe Contribute. But if only three users will work on this topic at a time then 3 licenses of contribute would be sufficient for you.

• CS6 Dreamweaver and contribute

  I spoke with several representatives of Adobe customer care and technical support. None of them could not even answer the most fundamental questions about the new cloud of Creative Adobe and web designer/developers who have web projects that are sent to customers the latest impact software (including Muse).

  Here's the question:

  I create websites in Dreamweaver and have formed my clients to use Adobe Contribute to manage the content of their sites. It has worked very well for a long time.

  I recently signed with creative cloud and begins to use the new CS6 products (Dreamweaver CS6, etc.). But there is no CS6 contribute.

  When I called to ask, I was told that "Contribute has been ignored and will be replaced by Muse. I was also told that any NEW sites that I create with Dreamweaver CS6 will not work with customers using Contribute CS5 (or 4 / 3). So now what?

  A tech support person suggested that I "gives new customers your login/password to your cloud account" so that they will be able to use the MUSE to update their sites. I asked about safety, and if my credentials, they would have access to ALL my content in the cloud, including the other work of the client, they said YES. (What about the stupidest suggestion you heard?)

  It's confusing, at best, and here's why:

  • My clients pay between $10-$20 / month to pay for hosting on their existing sites. new customers will probably pay the same.
  • Previously, they would simply * purchase * Contribute that would allow them to edit the content on sites that I created for them based on locked with designated models "editable regions" to give them access to.
  • So if Contribute is abandoned, how customers keep their site content?
  • If they subscribe to the MUSE of cloud, it will cost them a $15 / month extra. (as much as their accommodation costs!)

  Of the questions that I have not yet of answers for (since no one at Adobe seems to have a clue!)

  1. If I create the site with contribute CS6, customers will be able to change in the defined areas "editable" of their site using MUSE pages?
  2. Where will they host their site?
  3. A monthly subscription to MUSE includes accommodation? or is this yet another separate charge for hosting through Adobe Business Catalyst? and what is this handset cost?
  4. All these seems very cumbersome and not in the interests of my clients or to me as a web developer using Adobe Creative Suite products?  and finally...
  5. HOW can I get answers to my questions? (I spent 5 hours talking to staff support tech overseas with "Adobe" read from a script that cannot answer ALL these questions in total)
  6. Customer service is unable to answer ALL of these questions is

  1. no Muse is not a substitute for Contribute, Business Catalyst is what Adobe hopes to hold this role.  It is their hosted CMS solution.  I compare Muse what is in a logic of Photoshop.  It is for non-professionals to set up a Web site without coding.  It is not a content manager.

  5. not a strength of Adobe and one of my complaints about the 'cloud' that no support is included, so you don't pay for a higher level of support.  There was an open letter from Adobe VP Lambert Walsh ( http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/08/open_letter_to_our_customers_o.html ), which, incidentally, is still with the company by his ( http://www.linkedin.com/pub/lambert-walsh/2/b8b/123 ) LinkedIn profile.  You could perhaps reach out and let him know that there is always a problem.

  Contribute has been missed by Adobe experience because it needed to have your customers making an investment not only hosting but the tool as well.  Since Contribute was released, many developers have gone to systems like Drupal CMS, Joomla, Wordpress, pole, PyroCMS, etc.  Then there are solutions like the BC of the solutions that give you a platform for resale and hosted solution in one, so you don't have to get your own hosting as many of us have done in any case.

  Muse is not and will not be a replacement for Contribute.  In addition, DW CS6 always has the option in the configuration of the Site for Contribute compatibility, but I guess one CS5 compatibility, which was the latest version of Contribute will be released.

  Try the following steps:

  (1) administer the site, and then select the role in which you have faced this problem.

  (2) click on change settings for role...

  (3) select the editing category in the left panel.

  (4) in the right panel, choose the option "two lines, as in (uses standard web page editors '.

  We use broad Contribute campuses here at Smith College, but have just started using more comprehensive base css style sheets. Thus, while the Department can be found at www.smith.edu/department/english/index.html, the style sheet is at www.smith.edu/css/global.css

  An idea is to pop a kind of generic css file in each Web site location of the Department with a @import or something like that to get the global css and point contribute to this file. Would this work?

  What you have to do is set up a style sheet for each group of users and that attach style sheets to your pages.

  Then in Contribute, you go to > Edit > Adminsiter websites > users and roles > change role settings > fonts and Styles.
  Now, check "Show only CSS styles included in this CSS file" and choose the appropriate file.

• Start Contribute problem

  I use CS3 for a few months, but only now have found use in Contribute. While ALL the other CS3 applications beginning *, when I click on Contribute it not start. (Click only once and I get a C++ runtime error, so clearly my first click got something.)
  
  I just reinstalled CS3 and the problem persists. Can someone explain why and offer a solution?

  * I noticed two other strange behaviors with the CS3 version. Illustrator often will not close properly and I noticed once or twice an application does not appear on the taskbar, but I can {Ctrl} {Tab} to find running date at which it appears on the taskbar - this is NOT the case with Contribute, however, and I have not seen these two issues with reinstall it because I don't reinstall it.

  Uninstalled, reinstalled. Works now.

  My Organization strives to put our descriptions of ~ 400 posts online in PDF format. How can I make a list of 400 names more user-friendly by using 4 help? Can I add research opportunities? Y at - it a way to allow users to sort the documents (by Department, title of work, union, etc.) using 4 help? I am able to edit our site Web using 4 contribute, but all other types of development must go through our COMPUTER service (which I prefer to avoid). Any suggestions are appreciated.

• Re: Need to format an internal hard drive in FAT32, how?

  OK, this is no playstation forum but bear with me.

  I bought a new samsung 1 TB drive HARD internal to my playstation 3 but it can't recognize him, probably because it is not formatted in FAT32. I need to format this drive. I tried to put in an old laptop and do it, but the connections are different. I put in my Satellite A500-12W and thought using an old windows XP cd and find a 'format' instead of the installation option. However, the computer would not boot from the CD with the new drive in. I got the error message:

  "PXE - E61: media test failure, check cable for.
  "PXE - MOF: exit Pxe rom.

  The drive is new and should not be defective. I had created satellite before recovery discs so I put the number 1 and then I reached the installation process, but it seemed that I had no choice but to install all of the thing which is 4 DVD and when I did it before that I remember it being a working day (formatting often is with all OK that must be pressed) and I work a lot these days , I would like to avoid making a complete installation just to be able to felete it again and format it to FAT32. Since we are talking about the internal drive I can't do it just Windows because there is no windows on it...

  The user manual has nothing useful to contribute, I looked through the installer looking for a 'format' option but does.

  Can someone help me? For example can I enter in MS-DOS without an OS istalled and do it from there? What I want is a FAT32 HDD is empty...

  If possible, connect the new HARD drive to a computer as a external HARD drive and try to change it to FAT 32.

  Googling around you will find NTFS to FAT32 converter. Something like Aomei NTFS to FAT32 Converter. Check it out.

• 15 - f162dx: virtualization technology

  OK, so it's not my computer... but I wish it were! I have a quick survey on the computer laptop 15-f162dx HP. My first is this computer has virtualization technology? I would like to run the latest Windows 10 VMs as well as some older VMs to experiment! Also, I'm asuming this laptop has an x 64 processor, am I correct? Thanks in advance.   Yes to both.

  WOODS must have an option to turn on hardware Virtualization, activate it and you'll be fine running the VM player.

• Subvi event management

  Hi all

  I register an event (change in value of a boolean array) in a Subvi.  I connect the refnum with connector dynamic event (event loop) the in the top-level VI.  If the loop is triggered when the Subvi Boolean change table.

  It works well if the Subvi front is open.  I don't want the Subvi running with the open front.  Can someone help me understand what needs to be done?

  This is the expected behavior. I would recommend that instead of using the value change event, create your own user event. Then have your Subvi raises this event when it changes the table. The structure of the event in the calling VI will receive your user event and take appropriate action. Based on a value change event is not the best way to do this kind of things. An event using user contributes, to separate the user interface from the processing tasks. It is a good design preferred because it is more flexible and easier to change one side or the other. As long as the event data are composed, you are free to change or put in work.

  We will deploy a cluster with hybrid and a cluster with all the Flash under the same vCenter.

  Guests contribute by using the network of 10 gbe, hybrid hosts connect to 10 gbe (A logic) and the flash to 10 gbe guests too (logic B). Switch with logic a logical connection b with 1 gbe (between switch)

  Blog I found, when to use not contribute hosts, make sure that the we even create a vmkernel who could connect to vSAN.

  But for my scenario above, a vmkernel would be used for hosts contribute and also not contribute hosts (ie: when you use the vsan datastore in hybrid hosts flash)

  Any advice for us, when we want to use the flash in the hosts hybrid or hybrid in welcoming all the flash? (vice versa)

  The goal is to create the storage layer (hybrid and all the flash)

  Hybrid and all cluster flash will be more that 4 welcomes everyone.
