  To my knowledge, it is not possible to have all groups collapsed in the table of contents when it opens. There is a missing feature, and it would be a good idea to introduce a feature request (link can be found in the homepage of these forums) have introduced.

  However, I know that's not possible. The button table of contents is generated only generated at run time and has not yet been exposed to the Skin Editor TOC UI. If like me you want to it see the ability to customize it in a future version of Captivate so please add your voice by presenting this as a feature request.

• Find/change the question numbers and create the Table of contents

  Hello! I need help to find all my item numbers and apply a paragraph style so I can use them to create a Table of contents page.

  I tried to enter #^? ^ ? ^ ? ^ ? ^ ? in the search/replace and but it is exactly 5 characters after the sign #. I wonder if you can find all characters starting by # and up until the last characters.

  Once I found all item numbers, how can I apply the paragraph style to have these characters after the sign #? Because I only want to show item numbers without the # sign on the Table of contents/Index page.

  In addition, I have InDesign CS2, which have no function GREP maybe I can do this without the GREP?

  Are your numbers by themselves in a separate paragraph? OTHERWISE you can not USE the table of contents feature to list all the numbers.

  If are, then just look at # in find/replace, then set it to change formatting a new paragraph style (you must create this style in CS2) that you want to include in the table of contents, then as you say, you can use find/replace once more on the history of the TOC to remove the # of all numbers.

• How can I get the action to hide the table of contents to work as part of a conditional Action?

  GOAL: when a user takes the Quiz and fails, I wish they were able to get back underway and reviewing the materials before taking the quiz. As noted in other discussions, I have created actions advanced conditional and standard to achieve this:

  • Quiz results Slide Property executes the standard action "ResultsSlideVisitedAction", affecting a variable (AssessmentVisited) to 1, an indicator that the result slide has been visited.

  

  • If a user clicks the Retake Quiz button, instead of going to a "knowledge management", a quiz question classified early in the race with zero points, it goes to the first real quiz question. The slide to check knowledge runs the 'ExcludeKCAction', a conditional, looking to see if the result slide has been visited, which means that the quiz taken. If so, he jumps at the 1st question of the quiz slide.

  

  • I changed my Quiz message fail to tell the user to click the button Retake (which works fine) or navigate using the table of contents to review topics and then resume the quiz. The problem with this is that if a user uses the table of contents and gets to go to the slide to verify the knowledge to conditional action, they are sent directly to the Quiz.

  Action Rod pointing to that is to assign the value 1 to the system variables cpLockTOC. Its default value is 0. It is not even necessary to have a tip action, at least if you're on a later version of Captivate because the system variable is not in the drop-down list of the accordion to Actions in the slide properties. A simple action on enter to the first question slide will do. Don't forget to switch it to 0 when you enter backstage after the quiz to allow access again. And the linear?

  It is also possible to hide the table of contents with another variable of system but only if you use the table of contents in overlay mode.

• Content filtering to display in the table of contents with Actions (possibly using ActionScript?)

  I have 7 Captivate and would like to know if it is possible to filter some slides of OCD.

  The point here is that they may not be static, but change the slides to show transparently based on the choice of the user.

  In my view, that's not possible with only using Captivate and research to achieve anyway. (for example. Load the captivate through Flash and control the captivate Flash with AS3 file).

  You have no control of this type on the default TOC THAT included with Captivate. You can have this control, if you create a custom table of contents and use advanced/variables actions. Advanced actions are converted on the duration of AS3 (for SWF) or JS (for HTML5). Since you talk about Flash, I assume you want SWF-output. I know a lot about system variables supplied, there may be some hidden variables that you can solve with AS3 or (better IMO) with JS, but only system variables for the table of contents is to lock or hide/show it (if in overlay).

  Captivate 7.0.1 contains a rocking action that allows you to enable a Boolean variable (for example the system variable that displays or hides the table of contents), and shutdown.  Use this action.

  Hello is it possible to increase the size of the video in the table of contents, it automatically resizes it to 144 of the height and width 196 and I wish it was larger than the original size is greater. Or I can't do and I need to use another method?

  No, I'm sorry, you won't be able to increase the size of this table of contents video.

  You could insert the video on each slide or, if you do not use Captivate 5, insert it on a master slide that you apply to all slides?

  I was wondering if it is possible to insert a topic more than once in the Table of contents? This is probably a strange request, but the problem occurred because I imported a manual written in Word, but the part of it contains information already in the RoboHelp project. I was wondering if I could erase the information duplicated in favor of a link to what was already there?

  Stone of right: the table of contents will be get synchronized with the trial (up and down) that he meets. However, you can use redirect pages to work around this problem.

  1 create a new topic (and name it target_topic_name_redirect.htm as a visual cue for yourself). The title is the same in the topic title target (which is the name that will appear in the table of contents).

  2 remove all text in the topic in WYSIWYG mode (leaving a blank page).

  3 al ' TrueCode, add this line to the other META tags (in any place).
  

  4 drag and drop the redirection page to where you want the TOC.

  Note: A value of 0 (zero) is the duration time (none) and this topic will be displayed before the redirection to the topic target. If you prefer to make this available to the viewer redirection, you can increase it to, say, 8 or 10 and provide a text like "pick up this section of the"Configuration"section.   My project contains voice narration with the support of chips. Start-up option "find" in the table of contents looks only bullets of text on each slide to specific words. Is there a place I can insert the full script (rather than the abbreviated chips) spoken by the narrator in my class so that the option "find" search in these words?

  Hello!

  Captivate, in fact the finding of OCD to retrieve and search for the text content of slide and slide labels usage.

  What you can do to get your full script to work.

  (1) add a text caption slide.

  (2) paste is your complete script. (From slide notes)

  3) go to properties of legend text-[disable] option which does not show in the output.

  In this way, you would have all your content on the slide to search for in the table of contents, but still not visbile to users, they would continue to see the short balls.

• Themes of the table of contents

  I have 7 positions in my FrameMaker document. When I import in RoboHelp, I selected securities to create new topics from 1 to 5. Each title 1 is correct in the TOC and display in book form. I guess if a title contains of sub-headings, i.e., there are 3 position under a heading 2, then the first item would be a book in the table of contents. I find that this is not the case. My OCD does not look good, I have 2 position showing like a topic instead of one book and securities are of the same level.

  First of all, you should check the TOC in FrameMaker, make sure that the table of contents are indented, heading 2 is "BOLD" or the size of police higher than entries for titre3.

  Second, you should map your framemaker to different styles to RoboHelp styles, don't map Title2 both titre3 to Title2, in correspondence with Title2 and heading 3 (with the same style if necessary).

  Do a forced update. Which should solve this problem.

  If none of the options work, you can delete the project file .cpd file and restart RoboHelp opne this project again, do a forced update. Otherwise, try to create a new project.

• Why the names of my chapters are not displayed in the table of contents?

  Hello. I use Indesign & DPS simple editing to make an application. In Indesign, I created several different documents that I used to make items that I put together in a Folio.  I saw it using the tool preview Adobe & on the iPad using Adobe Content Viewer. When I select the button table of contents I see thumbnail screenshots of the first page of each chapter, but no text chapter name.  For each of the documents that I used to make items that I named them after the chapter they represent, which is what I thought each chapter name defined.

  The strange thing is that before I did a couple of test folios and they do not have the name of chapter text. So what can I do to display the chapter name in the table of contents?

  Also, is there a way to change change the thumbnail used by the table of contents?

  The answer to both questions is in the Article Properties dialog box. Select the item in the Folio Builder Panel and choose Properties from the context menu. Specify the name of the chapter of "Title" - which is probably empty now. (There is a difference between an article name and a title of the article. The name is used for internal purposes, such as the binding, and the title appears in the application).

  At the bottom of this dialog box, you see a preview of the Table of contents. Click the folder icon and specify a PNG of 70 x 70 that you design.

• Conditional User Defined Variable in the table of contents to RH10

  I have a unique project created with tags of conditional compilation for a product in several countries. The name of the company was the same in all three countries, but now the name of the company in a country is about to change. I created UDVs with conditional compilation of tags to apply the appropriate name when aid is produced (Yay for RoboHelp 10 for allowing this).

  There are 58 topics in the table of contents that include the name of the company in the title of the topic. My problem is, if I include the UDV to the title of a page in the table of contents, conditional text is ignored.

  I guess that's because the table of contents allowing in conditional constructions apply to the page or the book itself and no text in the name of the page or the book.

  Please can someone confirm that this is the case? If so, I'll make a suggestion to Adobe.

  I hope that Willam won't mind my expand a little on the issue.

  I note that you already seemed to be aware that the UDVs are possible in the text of the table of contents. And if I understand correctly, your problem here is that you want to condition the UDV in the table of contents, right?

  Certainly a way to do that would be to have two different TOC entries. And apply tags to each, so that one or the other would be excluded. But to be honest, I always avoided tagging the elements of the table of contents that I saw myself mixed results.

  The thought here for me is that I wonder why you feel the need to apply a condition to a variable? Why not use a different version of the variable? Of course, you create variables and insert them, but you can actually create different sets of variables that have different values, then when you create your output you simply choose the Variable you want to use.
