Using a MAC

All-in-one printer, HP Officejet Pro L7780 range Pilot 3.3.1 MAC OSX Lion

After crossing the MacbookPro (wireless network connection), I installed L7780 but 2 features do not appear or are not available when I'm ready to print: 2 Facer printing and using the second tray of the printer.  How can I use these features?  HP does not support the diagnosis of Mac.  Also, I should mention that I don't have a PC that is physically connected to the printer, which has worked well for years.

Hello

Both features should be available by driver:

Here are the steps for automatic duplex printing:

  1. Check that duplex printing accessory has been installed correctly. To check this open system preferences and go to Print & Fax. Open the print to your printer queue. Click Printer Setup and in the tab menu choose driver. Make sure that the box next to HP printing accessory two-sided (duplexer) is checked.
  2. On the file menu, select print. The print window is displayed.

NOTE:

The print window might be minimized. Click the Blue down arrow next to the product model to display all available parameters.

3. in the print window expanded, you will find, next to the copy , the check box for Two-Sided. Select the check box.

NOTE:

If the check box does not appear in the specific application print dialog box, skip this step.

4. to select the connection type click the selection box below, listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.

5. Select the menu drop down.

6. set the duplex option connection Long Edge (Portrait) or binding Long Edge (landscape).

You can save the settings for later use by clicking preset > save current settings as preset.

And here are the steps to select the paper tray:

1. check that the secomd tray has been installed correctly. To check this open system preferences and go to Print & Fax. Open the print to your printer queue. Click Printer Setup and in the tab menu choose driver. Make sure the box next to the entry optional feeder is checked.
2. on the file menu, select print. The print window is displayed.
NOTE: The print window might be minimized. Click the blue down arrow next to the product model to see all available parameters.
3. to select the input tray, click the selection box below, listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
4. Select Paper Type/quality in the menu dropdown.
5. adjust the Source option as the desired input tray.

You can save the settings for later use by clicking preset > save current settings as preset.

  • Using a Mac as a media server

I would use a Mac Mini as the entrance to multimedia server of my sound system.

I need to make the Mac Mini iTunes DLNA server that can connect to the device that acquires different sources and distributes the sound for different areas of households and their wired speakers.

Did someone familiar with the different DLNA servers available?

I ripped my CD collection in MP3s a while back so I could listen to them on mobile devices, especially in the car.  But I would be re-rip them in WAV or AIFF to produce quality music CD to the home entertainment system.  So I would like to ensure that the DLNA server is not only reliable, but high enough quality that I wouldn't have problems streaming music in real time and without abandonment or loss.

I'd be happy to expertise and recommendations in this area.

    Thank you.

Some DLNA aka software. UPnP software includes the ability to "transcode" files video or audio from one format to another. So if you have a mix of DLNA clients that does support all the same format, it can convert the files for those in need. You can take this into consideration when choosing a package DNLA for your Mac.

Before I get to DLNA, I would say that the DNLA is old, poorly supported, behaved badly and I advise you if possible to avoid. There are other approaches that you can choose from are better for you but if not, then go to the answers below DNLA.

First of all, the other non-DNLA approach. To do the audio multi-room, the Prime Minister is to buy a Sonos system. With this you buy either pregnant Sonos e.g. Play: 3 or you buy a Sonos Connect which allows you to connect an existing amplifier. Sonos supports all audio formats supported by iTunes, including Apple Lossless, that will be the best format to use if possible. While Sonos is the market leader there are other brands offer similar solutions. Other systems similar to Sonos examples of Logitech Squeezebox, Roku SoundBridge (interrupted), an Apple TV3 or TV4, etc.. All these support Apple Lossless and all different rooms playing different titles at the same time.

A second approach is to use the standard Apple's AirPlay, many AV receivers now support AirPlay if you have a network interface on your AV receiver which these days is standard or an option on most. iTunes would then broadcast directly to the AV receiver using the standard of airtime.

A third similar approach is to get one or more AirPort Express WiFi-base stations, they have an audio connector, you AirPlay from iTunes to the AirPort Express and it outputs via its audio connector of the connected audio equipment that could be pregnant or audio/video receiver.

Now there is a limitation with AirPlay, only iTunes can only produce airplay the same content to one or more destinations AirPlay, if you want to play several different songs at the same time, so that's where the Sonos and similar solutions win. The iTunes can however be a Mac, or Windows, or an iPhone or an iPad.

Go to the DLNA. You'll probably find many DNLA for Mac servers are abandoned or semi abandoned in that they have not had a recent update and so may have problems with versions of Mac OS X or only work with certain customers or do not transcode well or at all. In other words like DLNA as a whole, it is rather a mess. You will find that you have to buy a package commercial DNLA although it will always be cheaper that buying a Sonos multi-room installation. I advise to test trial versions, be sure to remove each before trying the next.

    Hello joebat,

It seems that some of your plugins (Shockwave Flash 10.1 r102) might be buggy or obsolete. To check for updates, please visit the plugincheck page. If this does not resolve the problem, try to start Firefox with the disabled modules and see if it helps at all. If so, delete the Shockwave Flash plugin and maybe reinstall or uninstall Firefox and do a new clean install.
If that is not yet solved the problem, try the following troubleshooting steps: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-mac.html

Thank you for your patience and please let me know how it goes.

You can use my Mac with iOS

    Hello ifixer2,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

No, you need two or more Mac computers that meet the following requirements to use Back to My Mac:

    What you'll need

To configure and use Back to My Mac, you need these things:

    • Two or more Mac computers that use the same account iCloud on OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later version.
    • A Terminal supported access AirPort (AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express or AirPort Time Capsule) or other Internet router that supports UPnP or NAT - PMP protocol, with the latest firmware available. AirPort base stations require version of firmware 7.6.1 or later for Back to My Mac.
    • Utility airPort 6.3 or later.
    • For screen sharing, a 300 Kbits/s-or-more rapid, bidirectional (high-low) Internet connection between computers. You may be able to use with slower connections to share files. If file sharing doesn't work as you think, check your settings and connections.
    • A firewall that allows remote connections. Some firewalls may prevent some back to my Mac connections. For example, when you're at home, don't maybe not able to connect you to your Mac at work. But when you're at work, you might be able to connect to your Mac at home. If you are not sure if the firewall will allow the back to my Mac connections, check with the network administrator for your organization.

If you want to use an AirPort Extreme or airport Time Capsule to access files on a hard drive external, you need a Mac OS extended (journaled) formatted USB hard drive. When you use with Back to My Mac, your hard drive is displayed as the base under shared in the sidebar station Finder.

Set up and use Back to My Mac

    Take care.

Why Firefox has disabled the only version of Flash (10.1.53.64) my computer can use? (Mac PowerPC G5) Help!

Your computer hardware has arrived at the stage where most of the software needs resources your machine cannot provide because it's too old. You have a few choices.

    1. Get new hardware that can handle the latest software
    2. Use a different operating system, like Linux (which is free)

I rehabilitated an old G5 recently and it runs very well in the latest Firefox. I put Lubuntu on the machine instead the MacOS. Lubuntu (pronounced Loo-boon-two) is sort of a Ubuntu lite - a user-friendly version of Linux. There are many applications of your choice, and everything is free.

You can also use the Ubuntu greediest in resources and a little more user-friendly, also free, but you can be more pleased with the performance of Lubuntu instead.

The PowerPC, I did this on was one of the old blue Bondi ones. Firefox 8 had no problem to start on it at all and has all necessary plug-ins for video, audio, etc... I gave him a church and it works well for them.

You can download older versions of Firefox, but you'll just open to security problems if you do.

FYI: The Mac operating system is based on Linux.

I used to write in two languages (English and Italan). When I use my Mac, it's easy: I just change the language, and my keyboard is the same (i.e., International English). What I use my iPad pro, instead, he also spends my physical keyboard, so that for example if I type [keyboard I get an e. It is very annoying and makes the keyboard quite useless. Keeping fixed language I would get bad suggested words.

You will need to define your physical layout being the same for English and Italian in settings > general > keyboard > keyboard > keyboard material
