Using disks SAS for R710 PERC 6 / i controller

I have a server R710 with PERC 6 / i controller, which originally had two 136 GB SATA disks and I want to replace it with two drives of 500 GB SAS (Dell Constellation SED). I put the SAS disks in slots 0 and 1, turn on the server and the BIOS OF THE controller reports both as having failed. the top lit flashes yellow two disks. The firmware of the controller is v6.3.1 - 0003, A14, such as reported by the BIOS, set up the screen. While these drives are not new, I wonder if they didn't in fact or there is something else I have to do on the server to allow these disks to use. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

Thank you, Daniel

I even try to replace old disks together rather than "grow" one at a time. I don't think I can anyway because they are of different types of readers - SATA vs SAS.

No, you can't... that's why I asked.

How can I disable encryption on the drive? I want to just use it as a "regular" readers I don't think I've seen all the options on the PD MGMT screen. The drive came as failed and most of the options are grayed out.

You can not turn it off.  PERC 6 can't stand NOT of SED - he has no knowledge of this feature, so it is impossible to turn off or manage otherwise.  There is no real 'options' on the PD MGMT screen... If they are displayed as foreign, then you must first clear the foreign configuration on the screen, VD MGMT (control of brightness, F2, foreign, Clear).

If you do not have these options - no way to clear the foreign configuration or configure the drives in a RAID array, you probably cannot use these only disks on PERC 6 in all.  The H700 is supported on your server and supports the SED discs, although I don't know what are the requirements exist for them.

Where can I find a list of 'disks recommended' for printing or do I need to see a list?

    I usually use the Verbatim.

    Hi jailbee,

If you want to print on disks with your PIXMA MX922, use only printable discs.

A "printable disc" differs from normal disc (BD/DVD/CD, etc.) because the surface of the label has been specially treated to be printed on an inkjet printer.

Do not print on printable disks which are not compatible with inkjet printing. Ink not dry not and can cause problems with the disc itself or devices which the disc is loaded on.

    Gaara_2k6,
Welcome to the responses of the Forums.  The short answer to your questions are Yes and no and no.

Depends on how you format the drive, it will delete everything on the drive.  Now, it may still be recoverable with a software specialist or moving to a data recovery company.

If you formatted your hard drive you would not be able to start to do anything, because there would be nothing on the startup disk.  With the Windows XP CD or with the recovery media provided by the manufacturer of the PC is the only way to reinstall Windows. • extract the windows disk drivers for use in 10 windows 7

I would like to extract generic epson printer to my windows disk drivers for use in 10 windows 7. I've seen a web page that tells how to a disk of vista, but the directory and the file structure is completely different on the disc of windows 7.  A search at random through the disc gave no results.  One of you have directions on how to do it?

How did the 24-pin generic Epson driver described in the list of Windows 7?

I do not see a pilot "generic 24 pin" in the list of Epson drivers on my Windows 7 system, but I don't see a driver for the GENERAL-3500 Epson ESC/P 2 ver 2.0.  The GENERAL-3500 is a flatbed printer 24 pin.  Is this the driver you used?

I ask because this driver - considered to be for "Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and later" - is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions in the Microsoft Update Catalog-->

No, you can not install after Windows 8 in a dual-boot configuration. He recommends first you have Windows 7 installed, and then create a partition and install Windows 8. See the following topics:

Help, please!  Jan

If you are certain that you have the correct number of series, there are really not much that we can help you here. You can try to download and install the latest version of Lightroom 2. This will be the trial version, but when the trial screen there is an option to indicate that you have a serial number. Either way, Lightroom serial numbers start with the four first digits being 1160.

  • 3 physical disks in 1 TB in RAID 5 with only its 1 TB usable space incorrectly? Using a Dell PERC 6 / i controller.

We have a server Dell PowerEdge with a PERC 6 / i controller. There are three physical disks for 1 TB. I created a RAID 5 array, but it seems that there is only 1 TB of usable space after you initialize the virtual disk RAID 5.

What is wrong? I Googled what should be the size, and I think we should not 1 TB, 2 TB of usable space?

Too bad. It looks like the physical disks are 500 GB in size, which makes sense.

  • Installing OS on Hyper V says - we have found all disks. For a storage driver, click on load a driver.

    Hello team,

    Dell PowerEdge R610 - hardware

Reference DELL PERC 6/1 SCSI Disk Device, think that these SAS disks.

Question: Installed Hyper-V on the server, but when trying to install the operating system on the virtual machine, it is said: we have found all the disks. For a storage driver, click on load a driver.

Could someone please suggest the correct load drive or where to download it.

    Kind regards

    Binu Kumar

    Hello boby

Your question is not related to the material. Unless you use a form any direct IO to enable communication of the VM with material then the virtual machine communicates with the hypervisor.

I suggest that you are looking for guides on the Microsoft Web site to learn how to configure a virtual machine. It seems that you did not create a data store, VHD, assigned to a virtual storage controller or one thing other storage in relation to the virtual machine.

The problem you are experiencing is virtual.

    Thank you

  • RESOLVED: Loop of reboot after installing new disks in RAID of PERC S100

A customer has a Dell T110 (with a PERC S100 RAID controller) running Windows 2008 R2. The system has two disks: a reader not RAID (C :) running the operating system and a RAID1 drive (E :) sharing data with network folders.) We need to install again, larger disks for the RAID.

I thought I could backup the data on the RAID drive existing (e), install new disks, built a new table in the S100 (VDM) virtual disk boot manager, boot into the operating system, create the new partition for the data replaced E: drive and copy the data back. This was not the case. After installing the new disks and the new array of construction (which is reported as "READY (R/W)" when starting, Windows starts all the way in "press CTRL-ALT-DEL to log". After two or three seconds, the system reboots. The same thing happens when I try to start safe mode. The system IS NOT automatically booted to the Recovery Console. He never seems to know that an error occurred and the system was not shut down normally.

I booted into the Recovery Console, installed the drivers for the PERC S100 and run recovery to start without success. Also in the Recovery Console, I ran 'chkdsk /f E:\. ' (remarkably, the drive letter for the data drive remained the same), and no error has been reported. I also reinstalled drivers S100 of the recovery using DISM Console, but that changed nothing.

I started to 8.1 Windows PE, installed drivers S100, formatted the virtual disk, copied the data which he, and everything works fine. The only problem is when I try to boot from the system drive (which has no problem) with the new installed disks.

When I put the old records, the system boots normally with no reconfiguration required. The VDM to start automatically remembers the discs and the table. Nothing shows up in the logs event indicating that there was an error during startup. (Ntbtlog.txt) start-up newspaper, after several boots with the new drives in place, indicates that the system restarts at various times during loading drivers. There is nothing coherent in the startup log to indicate what the problem is.

The only clue I have is that, during the startup, the VDM reports the virtual drive of origin as 'NORMAL (R/W)' and the new virtual disk as "READY (R/W)", but I'm not sure of the significance of this difference or if it suggests a solution.

I can't find clues in all the newspapers about what may be the problem. If anyone has any suggestions, I will be grateful. I'll be especially grateful for the wacky suggestions.

I ran it. Nothing appeared unusual. However, I does not solve the problem.

I connect the new readers to the same SATA ports as the old records. When I connect one of them to the SATA port that had not been used as part of the original painting, the VDM S100 reported the original failed array, because readers were is more connected and showed the new table as a LOAN. The operating system then started normally.

The trick, it seems that you should remove the old virtual disk before connecting the new disks on the same ports.

  • Disks hard SAS and SATA in mixture with controller H730 R730

I try to set up a new server for our SMEs and wanted to know if I could use say hard 2 SAS drives in raid 1 configuration for hyper-v (r2 2012) host then use 6-2 TB of SATA drives in pass-through mode for use with storage for 2 VMs.

    Bobc007,

The rule with the help of SAS and SATA drives is that you CAN mix the two in the same controller. You not CAN NOT mix SAS and SATA in the same virtual disks well. The configuration you are looking for is a supported configuration.

Let me know if this helps answer your questions.
