Using icloud extra storage!

What is the storage of extra walking for? I've updated to have more space for my applications, but it is not used!     .  So, basically the question is, the purpose in buying additional storage is to have more space to install more applications or not?

iCloud-storage has no relationship with the space on your phone for the applications.

  • How the practice is to use iCloud for storage with a new MacBook Air documents

I currently have almost 500gig in documents on my macbookpro 2012.  Thinking of getting a new MacBook Air. For storage, I need to iCloud or a external hard drive. Don't want to carry a second piece of equipment, so I think almost any movement to the cloud. It's convenient.  Safe?

Simply store your 500 GB of documents in iCloud is a space-saving convenience and sharing between or on your Mac (s). It is not a backup strategy because Apple does not archive the user data stored in iCloud. External, 2 TB USB3 drive will fit in the Palm of your hand, weighs almost nothing and ensures that Time Machine is to backup your user data wherever you are. It is the solution that I use with my MacBook Air to 2014, even when sitting in a coffee shop (and using VPN for security). Time Machine also captures Users/yourname/Library/Mobile Documents, which is your application compatible iCloud files and documents.

As well as a Time Machine backup of this 500 GB of documents, I would like to put them on another external drive that goes on the plateau to ensure the guard. Sometimes external drives completely fail without warning, including two Time Machine disks that happened to me over the past four years.

If you choose to use another non-Apple Cloud service, read the fine print on this autonomy of providers to transfer data between international servers, and your rights under foreign laws and safety distance will always give you access to your data.

    Hi cyspider,

I understand that you have purchased storage additional iCloud and your credit card has been charged, but you do not see that the storage has been added.  Have you received an email from Apple regarding this purchase?

The first thing I would say is to restart your iPhone.  Then tap general > storage & use of iCloud.  In the iCloud section, the amount of 'Storage' has changed?

If the Total storage has not been updated, the link below will put you in touch with the assistance of the iTunes store team.  They will review your account with you and take measures to solve the problem.

  • Using iCloud for other files storage

    Hello

I bought an extra storage in the hope that I can save files other than those created by Apple applications. In particular, I want to back up all my photos that are currently managed by Photoshop, as I am a passionate photographer. I fight to see how I can use iCloud for anything other than files created by Apple apps.

Anyone know if this is possible?

    Thank you very much.

No, it is not possible. You can use iCloud for storing photos using the Photos app and iCloud photo library:

  • storage used iCloud inconsistency.

    Hello

I have 1 to plan storage iCloud. I downloaded pictures 100 GB and 400 GB of videos in the Photos app iCloud. There is no file in the items removed from iCloud. In the Photos on my MacBook Pro when I right click on all the pictures, select Get Info system reports 500 GB. However the use of storage iCloud this system reported 700 GB. I can see 700 used Go looking through system preference/iCloud/manage on my laptop and the web browser button.

Note: Before you create the library currently used iCloud I had created a front in which I downloaded the right amount of photos/videos (hard to say how much, but could have been a couple of hundred GBs). I then deleted the first library and created a new one that I use now.

I contacted Apple support, spoke to one of their senior advisers and after weeks of investigation, they weren't able to tell me why is this and how to solve it. They suggested to transform my library iCloud mode engineer/recovery or smth like that (I may be the wrong term) for further investigation, but then your content is no longer encrypted so I refused.

    Has anyone came across this?

Do you know why it was such a big difference in the storage you use? And if so how to solve?

I plan to download the entire library to a hard drive external (I have only 256 GB on my laptop), deleting the photos in iCloud and re - download the library back. I did a lot of changes (modification and deletion) in the photos / videos and added some new ones (not over 20GB) since I originally loaded them so I'm really reluctant to import all the data on the library from scratch.

What is the library status on each device to iCloud

in the iCLoud preferences Mac == > managing storage is show all this storage for photo library or some of them are things like iCloud Drive, backups, etc.?

Since you have a lot of storage rather than try again I'd give him 45 days to see if things solve

  • I can't use iCloud for backup of data from third-party applications

I use an iPod touch 6th generation and I wanted to use iCloud for backup of Twitter, IG, Pinterest etc. I've tried searching steps. So far I've been finding the same set of instructions:

Settings > iCloud > storage > select your iDevice > turn on apps you want to iCloud to save

But after clicking on the storage, I don't see that 'manage storage' and below, the option 'change of Plan '. Why does my iPod not not the option choose iDevice? I can see the option to save the data of integrated applications, but not applications, third-party. My iCloud that unit is on but my Photos under icloud is disabled. I really need the extra space. What seems to be the problem?

Click Manage store (settings > iCloud > storage > Storage manage and you see what moves backup iCloud storage.)

  • Should I Photostream if I use iCloud photo library

Hi, I use iCloud library on my MBP, two iPhones and iPad and I still active Photostream.

I'll try to find our knowledge if I need Photostream as well as use iCloud.  I have more than enough storage for the moment in the cloud then from what I can tell Photostream is not something that would fail me if I turned it off.  At the same time, I can't find a definitive answer anywhere!

Grateful that if ever I decide to stop using the cloud, I can turn Photostream for my last few thousand photos.

I also try to work if there is anyway that I can reduce the amount of space on my iPhone which currently takes about 13 GB of photo library.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thank you

    Matt

If you do not use my Photo Stream, turn off all devices.

You need my photo only, stream if you also use older devices with iOS 7 or more, which can not support iCloud photo library. But if all your devices are set to synchronize with iCloud photo library, you don't need my photo stream. It might even cause problems.

  • Can I use iCloud for storing photo backup?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if it is possible to use iCloud as photo backup storage. I have a lot of pictures on my OS 10.7.5 and save them on the cloud. Is this possible? is it possible even with an older version of iPhoto?

    Thank you friends mac colleagues.

    Ana

No iCloud by itself. You can save the images on iCloud drive, but then they are just images randomly without structure, unless save you them in a kind of files that will help you organize them in the drive.

If you want to archive and save photos, you should be import on your computer, or you must use a Cloud service of archiving such as Dropbox or Google Photos. It is the only way to store your photos.

    Good luck

  • I need to backup iphone on itunes if I use icloud

Hello I'm out of disk space hard and currently use icloud for our two phones and two ipads. I have backups on my Mac iTunes which is about 90 GB. What I always have these backups to local hard drive iTunes if I am using iCloud. Would like to have the extra space back.

    Thank you!

I only use iCloud for backup, but there are some differences between the 2 methods that may or may not be of interest to you. See the sections "iCloud backups" and "iTunes" in the link below for the differences: on safeguards for iOS - Apple Support devices

  • If I use iCloud photo library to share photos on my Mac, make the stay of the files full original size on my Mac or they stored in the cloud?

If I use iCloud photo library to share photos on my Mac, make the stay of the files full original size on my Mac or they stored in the cloud?

    Thank you!

The photos full size will always go to the cloud. They also remain on (or download) your Mac depends on if 'Download this Mac originals' or 'Optimize Mac storage' is ticked in Photos > Preferences > iCloud. If it is enabled, it also depends on how much storage is available on your Mac.

  • ICloud photo storage

    Hello

I will be backpacking for a month or two and probably will not have enough room on my phone to store all of the photos I take. I intend to upload them to iClould whenever I had the chance to connect to the Internet. I would ask if I wanted to delete the photos on my photo automatically deletes the photos on iCloud (I don't want it)?

    Thank you.

With iCloud library enabled, you cannot delete a photo on a device (or iCloud.com) without deleting each device which uses iCloud photo library (iCloud.com). In order to save space on your mobile devices (and indeed your Mac if you want to) turn on the optimization of the pictures on these devices (settings > photos & camera > optimize storage on your mobile device and Photo preferences > optimize storage on your Mac)

Dynamic optimization, it reduces the resolution of your photos, if necessary, so that you don't notice it occurring initially. However, when necessary, it is very effective, and users have reported libraries being optimized for much less than 10% of their original size in some cases. My own library is about 9% of its original on my phone size.
