Using ink OfficePro 8500

Nine months ago, I bought a new Pro 8500 office because I needed a reliable machine that would fax also and I am very happy with it in general. Its main purpose is to print accounts and I have the settings on the computer to print only in black. Despite this, the color cartridges, blue one in particular are now running for the second time. Since the purchase of the machine, I replaced the black cartridge 3 times, that is fair, given the use and color cartridges have been replaced once. I agree than those that the machine came with maybe wasn't a high performance but I do not understand why the color cartridges walk down when I do not print in color. Am I missing something obvious or is - this normal?

Thank you, Bob, for your response.

I would have liked it much better had been able to say otherwise. I don't like having to use my color cartridges to print in black. I'll use my print option much more often "regular paper, project fast, black and white. I use twice more yellow cyan or magenta, and yellow is my favorite color. If I have a choice of color (other than black) in which print it will be and has always been, blue.

If you have any info on the question if this 'plain paper' choice, project fast, black and white will always use my yellow cartridge, I would be grateful this info.

Thank you

Calli

Quick adjustment project will use generally about half of the ink for printing as best or normal modes. Your driver offering a setting for "print in grayscale" and "use black only? Graphics are usually printed with the color cartridge (even in grayscale mode) the choice unless "use black only" is done. [The Conspiricy theories aside, there are good reasons for this. The black print head is designed to print the text and has relatively larger droplets of ink. [A higher end graphics can be done using an appropriate mix of the smallest drops of color.]

Even when printing in "black only" mode some color ink is used to keep the semi-permanent printhead without clogging. See the page here for more information on how the ink is used.

    Welcome to the @Wm_Dailey forums

I read your post about the question of impression you have with your Officejet 8500. The good news is that if the printer copies, scans or faxes, the printer itself works fine, and the problem is more in the software, the driver or the operating system.

I will do my best to help you with this. In order to find the best info, I would need to know if you are working with Windows Vista or Windows 7 and what 8500 model you have.

Let me know and I will check it for you.

In the meantime, try to restart the print spooler:

I have 5 HP printers and still actively using 3 models of all-in-One: 1510xi; 5610xi; and J6480. Reloaded 1510xi black cartridges (6) 92 (1) color cartridge 93 and 92 all will not work after update to install HP all-in-One. HP updates may have put an end to refill these cartridges. I had no problem before and refills limited to 4 or 5 max before you buy new cartridges.

All cartridges except for the color display the error and won't print. I replaced these cartridges with those who have not refilled and error warning does not, so it seems to be updated.

Has anyone encounter this type of problem? Or know a solution apart from buying new in the use of reloaded cartridges?

The only solution I know is using new genuine HP ink cartridges. Using ink filled or rebuilt is bad for the printer. If you have printers that are still under warranty, filled or rebuilt ink using the warranty of ink systems. The rest of the printer is still under warranty, but the print head and of any other part of the system of ink will not.

Hi there, your printer model uses individual ink cartridge technology (IIC) and uses little color ink when printing in black and white or grayscale. Black ink consumption must not exceed but some color ink will be consumed. • Laptop XP to Windows 7 OfficePro 8500 connect problem

I searched this problem without success and I hope Im not presenting a topic previously. I recently bought the OfficePro 8500 and it had set up correctly on my laptop XP Home network of Office XP wireless connected to the computer bureau/printer. Since then, I've replaced the office with a unit of Windows 7 and everything works very well from the desktop to the printer. I'm sure that I've updated the printer drivers for Windows 7 in the new office (looks like they are 12 Rev and it seems to Rev 13 is the last?). My XP laptop recognizes the right printer by default, but it ends there-no communication or printing. I diddled with "setting up the printer" on both ends and can not print from wireless laptop. Don't know if this binding is to the desktop (Windows 7 end) or the computer laptop (XP software). I would be very grateful for any help/suggestions. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Problem solved! Thanks for your help. The ultimate solution was to reinstall the HP driver in Windows XP machine. Don't know not how/why it was working before but reinstall the driver did the trick. Thanks for your help.

  • 8500 printer using ink because of the constant print alignment

Did someone had problems with a printer HP 8500 constantly try to align the print heads? It's the printer of the worst I have ever owned, not quite 2 years old and the ink is extremely expensive, it would be more profitable to the trash, and by a new printer.

Hi there Katcora, welcome to the forums!

I saw your post on your Officejet 8500 constantly running an alignment. It is usually a sign of the failure of print heads. I have a suggestion that might help, that is to clean the printhead manually.

Check out this guide for the correct instructions: print head issues

If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.

  • more than 8600: adjust using ink

I just bought and installed an OfficeJet Pro 8600, replace a 8500. On the 8500, in addition to selecting the modes project, normal or better, there were sliders to adjust the amount of ink and the drying time ('less' to 'plus'). In 'normal' mode, the 8600 is put so much ink on the page that the paper is wet and heavy. I can not find a method to reduce the amount of ink in the preferences of 8600. A deleted HP client's ability to change the use of ink?

No, it's the quality only (normal best project), not an amount of adjustment of ink like the 8500. I received an email from HP support... "Sorry, this feature is not available on the 8600." The 8600 will drink the ink, so it's going back to Staples.

  • HP Photosmart C4280 all-in-one: what hp printers use ink 74 & 75? Buy new ink if my C4280 always says 'no cartridge detected ink?

This printer has worked well in the past. It is a bit old. I used one that has a fax for a while, but after I have does not need that 1, I put this 1 upward again... maybe a year ago? Recently, it does not recognize the ink as being installed. I think I bought cartridges 74 & 75 maybe 2 months ago so that they are fairly new. I looked at the help on this forum and tried from the back and then pull the plug out for 15 seconds and connect again... no help. I read how to remove the cartridges and where the cartridges go in... no help. I even unplugged from the rear and the plug for 20 minutes... no help.

I read somewhere on this forum without other printers use 74 & 75 ink (or was this one of them?). So if I had to buy new ink and is not the problem...?

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you!

Yes, you can. But what do you want? I dropped my 5530 printer all-in-one so I bought a new. I installed the ink cartridges I had just installed in the old printer, the new printer and got an error message saying that the cartridges are usable in the printer being installed origanally in, is there a way around this? Do you have Protection enabled in the old printer cartridge? If so, these cartridges can only be used in the old printer. You must use the new cartridge of the INSTALLATION in the new printer anyway.
