  I have a Time Machine backup of emails from a POP account, I just carelessly deleted when editing an IMAP account.  I've seen responses in this forum to variations on this question, but not my specific.  I'm running OS X on a MacBook Air 10.9.5.  I figured out where the files are on the external hard drive backup (using the trick to see the hidden library).  I need to create a fake POP account temporarily?  I can recreate the old account and import sort emails in?

  Have you tried to use the import mail option? Choose you the first alternative for Apple Mail account, and then locate the folder that contains your old data of POP e-mail, search, and select the mailboxes folder that contains what to restore and click the Open/Select button. Data are restored in an import file in the Mail folder list in the sidebar.

  I have a Surface with RT I've used Outlook (Windows 7) on my old laptop to receive all my mail. I have a Comcast.net email account and I read that the Surface will not accept POP accounts for e-mail. I don't want to change my email address and Comcast uses that POP. So, with my Surface, I have to go to Xfinity site to get my emails. I can't transfer my address book outlook to Comcast because the Surface will not run the Plaxo software I downloaded because I do not have it from the Microsoft App store. It is not yet available. I can't believe that Microsoft did not understand Outlook on this computer. Very frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

  This is my web mail from GoDaddy account POP all of a sudden, I get the error message that my account login is not recognized. This only effects radio. I can send emails without problem. I tried with the support of GoDaddy, but they could not understand, this isn't a server problem on their end.

  I have the same problems as well. I called GoDaddy support. They say they have been making a lot of calls in this the last two days. I was told that there is a problem with the captain El security and mac mail can't pop. The solution was to create a new Mac with IMAP e-mail account and simply wants to another POP account for the search.

  I've also found that some people have unchecked "automatically detect and manage account settings" in the Advanced section of the preferences mail for pop e-mail.  Save the changes when you close the Mail preferences, and everything should be good.

  I have not tried yet, as I have always been with IMAP and Windows and Android. But all my colleagues are using Mac.

  If you used the mail IMAP service provider then they should always be on the server. Add your account info to your new installation of Thunderbird and verify the server.

  If you used the e-mail POP then messages were on your computer and are in the center of recycling with your old computer.

  Please do not use e-mail in storage long term of what you are looking. As you can see it does not work so well. At least make backups of your email.
