Using PLX9054 PCI resource conflict

We use a PLX9054 PCI chip in our designs PXI. We found that for some computers, only four modules can be used by PCI bus segment - the fifth module indicates a resource conflict. Looking at the use of detailed resources, it seems not be conflict in the address range or range of i/o addresses. On some computers, all five (or more) modules work fine.

The problem may be in which addresses are assigned to modules - debugging indicates that module in conflict has been awarded addresses reserved for the ISA bus and are not transported on the PCI bridge we use to run unions PXI.

Has anyone else seen elsewhere? Technical support PLX gave no indication.

I agree that the problem is the BIOS, not the operating system.  The resources requested, however, I suspect that the problem is space e/s.  You can change resource requests to eliminate the need for I/O space?  It is a scarce resource which is likely to cause problems, and I recommend not to use it even if it isn't the cause of this particular problem.

Minimum allocation of I/O bridge is 4 KB, and there are only 16 assignments available (64 KB).  While that sounds like a lot of what you do, it's complicated by folding mode ISA, which essentially limits you to 256 bytes of each 1024 bytes.  And the BIOS could not allocate space to IO well (I've seen before).

For your requests for memory space, you might as well make them the two 4 KB.  The minimum increment for a bridge is 1 MB, so all the tips in your chassis can use up to 128 KB without using more system resources.

Let me know if using space memory suits him.

    Hello

The error indicates that certain devices that are directly connected to the mobo are in conflict and try to share the same resources. This happens usually when the BIOS has been incorrectly installed or the motherboard is a failure.

In case you would recommend I affecting the default BIOS. But for that you need access to the BIOS, but it seems that it's not possible.

It seems to be a motherboard problem. You said that the USB ports do not work. Perhaps this is the reason for the error message and question PCI Serial Bus Controller.
You have USB devices connected to the laptop?
If so, just unplug the laptop and check again.

But what to say; If this does not help, I see a lot of options here. In my opinion the mobo must be replaced if it s really a motherboard problem

If I choose to resume, boot Windows XP starts but stucks in the process. I can boot Windows Mode safe mode without network only. I tried to reinstall the NIC drivers and restore the system, but it had no effect.

How can I solve this problem?

    Hello

The resource conflict appears generally if any 3rd device is already using the same resources of laptops.
The installed Windows operating system must control everything and it is not necessary to assign resources manually. After installing the driver everything should run automatically

I don't know why it happens, but in such case, the new OS installation m would be desirable.
Try to back up all your important data and reinstall the OS with all the important drivers Toshiba.

    Hello

    > I read in the forums that this error is tipycal in some toshiba models and the only solution is to change the motherboard.
I doubt s typical error for Toshiba laptop.
According to this error message, there is something wrong with PCI devices on the motherboard, and this error may happen to any laptops from different manufacturers it typical error of s which is related to the question of the motherboard.

According to me, there is no much to do you'll need a new motherboard.

    Hi athe43,

Below I've listed the details of error Code 12 and the article with additional information:

    Code 12

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12)

    Cause

This error can occur if two devices that are installed on your computer received the same i/o ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct memory access channel (whether through BIOS, the operating system, or both). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources for the device.

    Recommended resolution

You can use the Troubleshooting Wizard in Device Manager to determine where the conflict is, and then disable the device in conflict.

Turn off the device in conflict

    1. In the device properties dialog box, click the general tab.
    2. Click troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. The wizard will ask a few simple questions and provides a solution to your problem, based on the answers you provide.
    3. Follow the resolution steps provided by the wizard to resolve the problem.

    > Is there something more I could try o or is it the failure of the motherboard?

Well, if you have already tried to restore the system using the disk recovery Toshiba (your written you already tried this procedure) and this did not help to resolve the issue, the problem could be linked to the fault of the motherboard.

The resource conflict error message indicates that certain devices (part of the motherboard) causing the problem.
In your case, it s PCI Serial Bus controller.

From my point of view of the few there are not many options for repair.
I think that the motherboard must be replaced. :(

  • Timestamp of the external Signal triggered using the PCIe-6351

    Hello

I use a PCIe-6351 to acquire externally triggered data.  My block diagram looks almost exactly at this link in the section A. Posttriggered Acquisition with a digital start triggering:

    http://www.NI.com/white-paper/4329/en

As you can see he is a straightforward acquisition.  My trigger signal is on PFI0 and it is supposed to occur at regular intervals.  However, I started to suspect that it varies in time.  For example, if this is supposed to happen every 2 milliseconds it can range from 1.9 to 2.1 milliseconds.  Is it possible for DAQmx record the time at which each trigger occurs?  I realize that it will not be synchronized with the time on the PC, but as long as I can have a time stamp of each trigger I can subtract each time individual time of the first condition for the time between triggers.

    Thank you!

    Steve

    MR. O,.

Thanks for the reply. My system is set up to acquire many points of data at a relatively fast pace, so I their stamp on the data acquisition card and only download on the PC once the acquisition is completed. My understanding is that writing to file measure vi set a timestamp whenever he writes to the file - not for each individual data point. Is this correct?

  • some computers cannot acquire images using the PCI-1410

I have a big problem in the acquisition of the images using the PCI-1410.

It was a standard camera (SONY XC-ES). The test of the device is OK with my computer.

I can not get a correct image via MAX. Also, I try to use the file of the camera for that camera.

But it did not work properly.

I consulted it toward the Korea of NEITHER and they discover THAT PCI-1410 worked properly with different computers.

So, I try to change PC. Most of my computers cannot acquire the image even if the unit is OK of MAX.

However, only a few computer works properly. (Work computers are from SAMSUNG. The other

computers that did not work propely, were assembled in the lab.) (I have tested almost 6 computers for this purpose.)

The problem is that there are at least 3-4 PCI ports for our applications. The work computer (SAMSUN) only has 2 ports PCI.

What should I do to select the right computers? I can't buy dozens of computers to test the PCI-1410.

Why is this kind of problem occurs?

Thanks in advance for your advice. (Email: [email protected])

    Hello

We also had a lot of problems in the past with different PCs and the problem came from the motherboard. Since that time, we only use motherboards with intel because we know that labview works very well with them.

It was 2 or 3 years ago, and I thought that the problem has been resolved since then... you know the type of motherboards you use?
