using usb for file backup flash drives

When I bought my HP Notebook PC about a year ago I made both of the system recovery discs and disc repair system for windows 7, 64-bit operating system.  My first question is what can I transfer the DVR recovery discs to a USB flash drive and if yes what size GB do I need?  The same question for the repair disk.  Are readers flash reading and writing?

Also, I have a large number of CD with photo and DVD with slideshow and vidios and music.  I want to transfer them from flash drives for the primary purpose of the ease of storage and portability.

Any suggestions would be apprieciated. TIA

Again, during a support request, please provide the model name and product number complete (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

Having the above information allows us to provide you with the best possible answers.

I don't think you can use a USB Flash drive with Windows System Image backup tool. A NTFS formatted external hard drive USB 60 GB or more should work. Any USB 2.0 / 3.0 about 500 GB to 1 TB external hard drive would work for your object. Yes, I know it's more you want, but it is what will work.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • How to get windows xp re - install for installing the flash drive to the computer error portable "windows\system32\config\system".

My Acer Aspire One has error "windows\system32\config\system" How can I get a copy of windows xp original usb? When I bought the

computer laptop windows xp made & paid for. Product key is on the back. Can I download & reinstall using a flash drive?

C:\Windows\system32\config\system is one of the files that make up the system registry.  Backups of the system registry files are kept in the 'C:\System Volume Information' folder under the system restore program.  Probably all you need to do is copy of registry backups in the Windows\system32\config folder.  A reinstall of windows may not be necessary.

To do this is to start your machine from a free "Live Linux" thumb drive.  You can create a startup disk Ubuntu here:

Follow the instructions of "Try me" and you should be able to copy backups of registry in place.  Windows has "Hidden doubling" the System Volume Information folder, but Linux doesn't seem to have any problems with it.  After starting from the Thumb Drive Linux, follow the instructions in the following article from part 2, step 6, using the graphical interface of Linux to copy files (right click copy, make a right click Paste) instead of the lines of command in the article.  With a little patience, you can restore the registry from a backup, and be back in operation

  • USB Cruzer 128 GB Flash drive

I bought the drive Flash USB Cruzer 128 GB in July 2013.  It seems that it is a product of USB 2.0.

Today, I plugged the Cruzer USB port of my laptop HP Probook 4540 s (Win7 SP1) 3.0 and was copy several files for a total of approximately 100 GB.

The copy took about six hours.  File transfer speed is very slow.

How to get the best speed of file copy please?

    "It's the"rapid withdrawal"by default.

The default value is not intended for readers of 128 GB with 100 GB downloads.

"As for format NTFS, I read probably somewhere years pendrives work faster if they are NTFS"

You certainly know that not everything you read on the Internet is correct.  Think about it, if this were true you don't think that flash drive manufacturers would manufacturer their drives with him so they would run faster?  Readers begin as the super floppy format FAT32 for some reason.  No MBR, no table partition, no record of the IO, any backup fat.

There are 3 ways to format a NTFS-formatted flash drive; Quick format, full-sized, cnvrt format.  I saw where the full format is faster than a cnvrt format.  If faster than a quick format, I don't know, but a cnvrt doesn't take long.

  • USB ports not recognize flash drives

I was just given a Gateway Performance 550 windows 98-based computer. It is plug-and-play, have two USB ports. Printer and scanner included work on plug-and-play. The computer will not see even a device plugged in when you insert a flash drive. Should readers flash works with Windows 98, or should I switch to XP for the software to recognize? I read that some parts used USB 1 format and taking the computer earlier. It is supposed to be dimensionally identical to the USB 2, but run a little slow, but always interchangeable. Maybe the USB 2 flash drives are not interchangeable.

I'm not the best expert on all this, but I don't think that Flash drives were even invented where 98 was around.

The 98 machine would not have the drivers for a Flash drive.

You can visit the web site of the manufacturer of the USB and see if there are 98 compatible drivers there.

  • usb Cruzer 2.0 flash drive

I've never used one of these devices before so I'm completely lost. I put the flash drive in my computer and he went through a series of screens. I put a password on it and then tried to download my music from windows media player on it. he copied the 2 files to the flash drive. both are just as macfee virus protection offers. None of this is music. I tried to drag and copy the files, copy and paste the files not only music player of windows, but also real player which has the same content inside. nothing works. what I am doing wrong. is there a way to erase everything and start over, or do I still have to do that? Help, please

Why not just drag & drop (copy & paste) the files that you want to start in Windows Explorer (my computer)? I don't think you can do it from WMP or RealPlayer.

  • Using tape for RMAN backup concerns

    Dear all,

I use the library of networker for rman backup. I have some problem/question about what I don't use catalog db. Here it goes:

    1. think you that automatic backup controlfile should set to strip? or better to keep in the disc.

    2. How can I configure autoback controlfile format on TAPE?

    3. If I need to restore control to another HOST file, how can we do this?

    4. I've read a few books we can't CATALOG element of tape backup. If it's the fact that, after the disaster, how do I Catalog backup piece and restore this backup piece in another host?

    Kind regards

    Hello

1 when RMAN channel tape is allocated when running RMAN backup, autobackup controlfile will be created in the Ribbon to place on the disc. If structural change to the database is made, for example by adding a new data file, then the controlfile autobackup will be created in the disk, regardless of the device type of the default RMAN configuration.

Control file autobackup after structural changes of data and the Type of device SBT_TAPE (Doc ID 1190354.1)

    2. set below:

    RMAN > CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' TO '%F ';

    3. If the automatic backup location is not the default location and then set the location first.

Use this command to set the location:

    RMAN > SET FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE SBT_TAPE AUTOBACKUP CONTROLFILE to '< auto="" backup="" format="">';

    Then use the command

    RMAN > restore controlfile on "" automatic backup;

    4. starting with 10 g, it is possible to use the rman CATALOG command to add backuppieces stored in the disc to the rman repository. But it is not possible to use the order CATALOG for items stored on TAPE backup, but note below explains undocumented commands to add backuppieces stored in the RIBBON for the repository.

HOW TO CATALOG the TAPE BACKUP ITEMS (Doc ID 550082.1)

  • Using ESXi for file shares

    Hi all

    OS: Windows 2003 STD 32-bit

Currently our DC FSMO is also a file server with many shares and printers that are running on a DELL PE2650

We bought a Dell PowerEdge 2950, 8 GB of RAM, 1.5 to RAID5 to move the FSMO domain controller, but the upgrade of the OS has not been approved, given that Windows 2003 STD may not use more than 4 GB of RAM, we divide the 2 Server 1 server just for the DC, DNS, and WINS and 1 server host the file share and can accommodate 2 servers on the Dell PE2950 ESXi

question 1 and our main concern: ESXi is suitable for file sharing host 200 users have mapped drives and running applications from?

2 given that the Dell PE2950 2 NIC can we dedicate a NIC to server file sharing?

    TIA

    1: Yes, it's not a problem.

2: Yes, you will need to create a vSwich separate the file with separate uplink NIC server and use the second NETWORK card on a second vSwitch for management and other virtual machines.

    Kind regards

You should be able to use it. However, according to the Oracle docs support is to clone the main node and add more nodes by cloning the context files.

  • Can anyone recommend a good for a MacBook Pro USB flash drive?

I have just implemented a new of the retina end 2015 13 "MacBook Pro and you are looking for a 128 GB + good for fast backups flash drive while looking around a hard drive for use with Time Machine or SuperDuper.

I'm particularly interested in: (1) A flash drive that is pre-formatted for a platform of Mac OS X for recent models. (Couldn't find it from what I saw on Amazon.)  (2) I believe that the current MacBook Pro USB 3.0, but yet there seems to be a lot of disc memory flash USB 2.0 autour.  Anyone found a good 3.0 flash drive Mac compatible in size 128 - or 200 GB? (3) If you happen to have one, it would be swell to find a drive lean enough to fit comfortably in a port USB of the MacBook, even if something is next to him.

    Thanks - much appreciated suggestions!

  • How to use a flash drive for HP Pavilion p6331 with Windows Vista for backup worki?

    Hello

While I have a master's degree, my know-how is written the text, does not not with the computer functions that are new to me.  Whenever I try to my backup job, the default setting of my Media Smart desktop assumes that my files will be sent to some separate, newly purchased drive, drive E.  However, I don't have any drive E!  I bought some DVDs but they keep rejected and cannot be written above.  Seems cheaper solution was to buy a flash drive.  I tried to save, but the menu showed that drive new E or "insert DVD."  What I need to know where/how is insert (front of the back of the Tower?) flash player and the "selection" of this option.  Do I need to buy a special cable to connect this small Lexar Flash drive, 16 GB?

Thanks for all the words of wisdom.

Hello leathergirl. I checked the model number on the HP website and did not find a system with this model you listed.

You can see the card reader in the E: drive when you try to back up your data.

You should be able to navigate to any location (by car) which is able to accept data during backups. I don't recommend that you use the backup but just Windows copy and paste all data, such as documents, pictures, music, etc..

Unless you use DVD +/-RW disc, the DVD disc can have that data written (burned) to them once. DVD +/-RW can be rewritten several times before becoming defective.

The Lexar 16 GB Flash drive USB should be inserted into the USB port on the front and then recognized by the operating system and drivers must be installed by the operating system.

You should be able to copy and paste your data to the Lexar FlashDrive using Windows Explorer. Lexar Flash drive must be placed in the list of drives on the left side of the screen when using Windows Explorer.
