Hola bskatz,

You can use the same license para los servidores very, is that van has funcionar of forma independiente al ser her license sin coste. If estos were administrados por vCenter is if tendrias problemas... pero none are el caso porque vCenter no host can administrar don't con license sin coste.

Saludos.

  • Issue of license VMWare ESXi 3.5

    Hi guys,.

I was wondering if someone could help me with the best course of action here.  About 4 months ago, I ordered a Dell with ESXi server on it (internal on a USB key).  I want just the basic... now for free... features of ESXi.  However, it came pre-installed with what I think, it is licensed to the company.  I have no idea even how to say to look at anything, if this is still true.  However, since I'm busy and I have come back to this project, I learned earlier that I can no longer starm of the BONES of my comments.  He tells me I don't have enough licenses.  The license that has been already entered under 'Configuration' was previously registered with Dell.  I registered and got a new one on the site here and it before but I have the same problem.  Should I reinstall from a new image to fix this?  Is it possible to just go back to the basic edition?  I didn't need all the extra features, I guess it is.  I just want to run the OS indepened most of the time.

    Thank you

    Steven

Ok. I would have noticed it in the first place. We will try this.

I don't know if you have enabled ssh on your ESXi. Otherwise try to get the following steps on the server console or remote access (such as the DRAC, ILO or what have you), after you set the ESX Server in evaluation mode using the VI Client.

Connect to the ESXi box as root.

    Go to/etc/vmware.

Delete the license.cfg and vmware.lic files, you can make a backup copy if you want in the first place.

    Restart the service mgmt-vmware.

Return to the VI client and activate the license of the ESX Server with the key you have for the site.

Let me know if it helps.

  • Impossible to apply license in VMWare ESXi 5.5.0 after the expiration of the evaluation period

Hello. I recorded and downloaded VMWare ESXi and VSphere about 2 months ago and got it running on our server.

Today when I logged with VSphere, he said the trial period is over and I need to get a license.

I connected to VMWare and checked the download link of VSphere with the binaries for 5.5.0 ESXI and VSphere 5.5.0 and told me that I had not registered for the product.

I signed up for the product and the files were available and I also saw the license key at the top of the download area.

I copied the license key and went to VSphere, connected to my ESXi and click on Configuration, feature under license and change.

I Clicked New Assign will authorize and pasted the license key in the box and click ok.

Then I clicked OK to close the "assign license Dialog", but it came with and error "an error occurred during the license specified key assignment: license is not valid for this product".

I tried several times and have not been able to apply the license.

    Help, please!

Check if you used the appropriate license key. Make sure that you do not vcenter licenses for Esxi host. Error message clearly indicates that the license key is not valid for this product...

    Kind regards

  • Cannot assign a license to VMware ESXi 5.0 hosts

    Dear all,

I installed vCenter Server 5.0 standard IBM x 3550 M4 and VMware ESXi 5.0 Standard for two M4 IBM 3650 x servers. I can attribute vCenter Server Standard 5 license to vCenter Server 5.0 but I can't affect VMware vSphere 5 Standard licenses for both ESXi 5.0 servers. Each server has 2x6Cores 2.3 GHz CPU (12 cores total). VMware vSphere 5 licenses that we purchase are VMware vSphere 5 Standard for 1 processor (VS5-STD-C) x 12, which is unlimited cores per processor. Can someone tell me what is the problem here and the reason why I still can't assign license to two 5.0 ESXi hosts.

    Rgds,

    Syairus

If I understand correctly you have 12 licenses for 1 CPU each! In order to assign a license to a host of the CPU, the license capacity must be equal to or greater than the number of the host CPU. You can combine licenses in the portal My VMware.

BTW. for two host with 2 CPU each, you need only 4 licenses of CPU (not 12), as processors/sockets are allowed, not carrots.

  • License of VMware ESXi

    Hi all

I want to know if the VMware ESXi can be used situation?

Hi William - Welcome in the community.

    The answer is Yes.

The free version of ESX, I can be uised in production - although you won't get any agreement with her support - so you don't have to rely on VMware etc. communities for support (not ideal for production)

There are a series of oif types of licenses that can be puyrchased - according to your needs.

I think VMWare are happy with thismodel, because once most companies see the benefits of VMware virtualization and save on hardware, etc., most go to buy licenses that include additional features such as vCenter, support, vMotion and so on.

ESXi (free version) has not built DR (like HA), or the distribution of resources (DRS) - If you are quite limited.

In short, although that - Yes is the answer to your question.

PS - Your first install ESXi will give you access to all the functions for a limited time - but once this period runs out, you will be limited to a limited ESXi installation. ESXi is the complete functionility of normal ESX, when it is fully licensed.

But on the vsphere client, I receive the message "your evaluation license will expire in X days. I don't have a key that I applied when installing ESXi.

My understanding of the license is accurate.

You should have received your license key in an email from vmware or you can find it by logging in and going to the ESXi download page.

  • VMware ESXi 5.0 Update 1 breaks AutoStartManager (free license ONLY, waiting for patch/fix)

    Hello

Today I updated to version 515841 to 623860, apparently, the update was successful.

However, I noticed something very annoying - the host is no longer automatically starts or stops invited as configured. I tried to turn the feature on and outside, moved to guests to "Manual start" then back to "Auto-start" - with various combinations of these parameters, also restarted host between changes. But, alas, no luck.

In the list of "Recent tasks" appears in vSphere Client, the Auto Power On tasks as completed, launched by root, with 'Start Time' and 'End time' with the same timestamp. The server log reports the following error (3rd line below):

    2012-03-16 T 07: 08:27.296Z [6DE40B90 info "TaskManager"] created task: haTask - vim.host.AutoStartManager.autoPowerOn - 97171136

RestrictedVersion? Something was happening to the license free ESXi features?

Someone else with the same problem/a solution?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's a bug.  It only affects people running the free hypervisor.  Not aware of a fix/workaround yet...

  • Free license for Esxi 6.0 Cisco custom ISO

    Dear all,

Is it possible to get the free license for Esxi 6.0 custom cisco ISO? or what can I use standard 6.0 for Cisco 6.0installation custom Esxi Esxi free license key?

I could find the free license only for Esxi 6.0 standard image customized Cisco.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the community,

Cisco and other hardware providers offer ESXi images customized to support their equipment. However, the customization is made by adding/replacement drivers and tools. The base is still the same original VMware image. There is no specific license provider.

You can find all downloads for VMwre to https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/downloads. What you might want to look for are the links "Download trial" to "VMware Workstation" and "VMware vSphere. BTW. is there a reason you ask for older versions?

For Windows Server, see download Windows Server 2008 R2 Evaluation (180 days) from the official Microsoft Download Center

PS: In the past VMware has provided a free license of VMware Workstation after you have completed the requirements to become a VCP - DCV (i.e. necessary training, more exam). I'm sure they'll continue to do that.

  • VMWare ESXi under Virtual Box tests

    Hi all

Just installed VMWare ESXi under VirtualBox with a free license to evaluate it before you consider moving my XCP it based VMs. However, after installation I can't pull up a single VM.

I just create a 32-bit VM Debian base and fixed the Debian netinstall ISO on the CD player. However, when I try to turn on the virtual machine, it runs for a few seconds before turning off.

I have attached the log file.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Andy

The vmmcores.gz file shows that the EFER. The SCE bit is clear.  What explains the illegal opcode exception.  However, I don't see how EFER. CES has got to be clear.  What version of VirtualBox do you use?

  • How to get the license to esxi 4.1 will be accepted on newly reinstalled host (OEM HP Proliant)

I just spent the day of two failed disks in two tables on an old HP proliant ml350 g5

It seems that it has been deployed with HP installed esxi 3.x (based on the packaging of HP where the USB was) and later put upgraded to 4.1.  It is a very low installation - the esxi is running stand-alone.

As part of the recovery process the berries, I deleted (accidentally) the USB in the box that hosts the esxi installation.  So I took out the CD and HP instead of the brand HP esxi 3.x (like on the box label), there was a serious esxi 4.1-labelled CD (which corresponded to which will be executed on the box before the problem).  I therefore installed from the CD, got all VM rerun, ghettoVCB (re) - on-demand via crontab and then to apply the license.

The box of HP brand has a certificate (with bar code) showing that I have "permission to use" esxi, but no key.  4.1 key I used elsewhere is not accepted in the dialogue to "transfer license".

-Where am I going to solve this problem?  Do I need a key for HP? If so, what should I go for?  My experience with HP for something like this are less favourable one that treats the monopoly of electricity, so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

(aka http://tinyurl.com/ma9m7kz) is a pdf file that brings me to the vmware website, which, when I log in, shows me my license key 4.1 esxi - which is not accepted by the process of "transfer license".
So in desperation I decided to type it in again, after a good night sleep and PRESTO, it worked.
Which is weird, because yesterday I was cut and paste from the website - and paste it into Notepad first to remove any characters dog wandering or unacceptable, and someone had read back to me.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Is VMWare ESXi 5.5 free?

I installed VMWare ESXi 5.5 and vSphere cleint test lab and what I see is a 60 day trial, how can I get a free version?

As mentioned André you missed the stand-alone host licenses section.

If you are too confusing, here are the steps

To allow a standalone ESXi 5.x (vSphere Hypervisor):

    1. Connect to the ESXi host with vSphere Client.
    2. Click the Configuration tab.
    3. Click licensed features in software.
    4. Click change in the appearance under the license tab.
    5. Select assign a new license key at this host.
    6. Press enter and enter the license key.
    7. Click OK.

Unless you already have a license key, register to Download VMware vSphere Hypervisor for free to get a free key. Then follow the steps mentioned in the article knowledge base you will have to enter the license key on the ESXi host.

  • VCenter Server with VMWare ESXi free 5 5

    Hi all

Test the VCenter Server 5 Evaluation (60 day trial) to management all my 5 of VMWare ESXi (free license). It works with restrictions. These restrictions aren´t a problem for me. I need only to move (power off of virtual machines), clone, create templates for and organize my servers in a single interface VSphere Client. So, I would like to know what type of license of VCenter Server 5 woks if VMWare ESXi 5 free. Buy the VCenter Server 5 Standard?

Another doubt is if VStorage works with VMWare ESXi free license I.

    Best regards

    Fabio Sobral

Unfortunately the free ESXi hosts in vCenter management is not possible (except for the eval). The hosts of ESXi need a vCenter Server Agent license that is only available in editions 'paid' of ESXi.
