UTF8 National characters in the reports of the APEX
Hello
We have a table of type NVARCHAR2 column (200), which contains characters russion (utf8).
It is stored and displayed correctly in our development tools.
However, in the reports of the APEX (Classic and IR), the values are truncated. It's the same thing when you make a SELECTION in the SQL workshop.
Once the setting (SELECT * FROM NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS):
PARAMETER | VALUE |
---|---|
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET | AL16UTF16 |
NLS_LANGUAGE | AMERICAN |
NLS_TERRITORY | AMERICA |
NLS_CURRENCY | $ |
NLS_ISO_CURRENCY | AMERICA |
NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS | ., |
NLS_CHARACTERSET | WE8ISO8859P1 |
NLS_CALENDAR | GREGORIAN |
NLS_DATE_FORMAT | DD-MON-RR |
NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE | AMERICAN |
APEX Application is created by default, no globalization setting is changed.
Any ideas?
Best regards
Martin

Download the vcard with national characters in the name
How can I download a vCard with national characters (UTF-8) in the name?
Download site is Windows with ASP.NET 4.0
I tried with ContentType: "text/x-vcard;" and "text/x-vcard; charset = utf-8; »
Click on the download link Mitelcmg.omnigate.se/vcard?id=rousk_bjorn_raksmorgas
Download the file on iPhone
When I opened this file in the Contacts, the name of the characters special aao are all looking 'strange '.
Works very well on Android.
I think you need to open the map with a text editor and resave as perhaps utf-16 or utf-8 with BOM.

How to handle special characters in the Apex
Hello
In my application, I have two regions - region report (interactive report) and other is region HTML with text elements two - Empno and name
My report has two columns Empno (varchar2) and Ename (varchar2).
When I click on the link change in the column of the report, the empno should be a read-only value EMPNO and ename is a text with the value of the ENAME field.
When I run my application, I have encountered the following problems:
1. If my empno has special characters such as "#", the characters after that is not posting
2. If my empno has special characters such as "," characters after the decimal point is considered to be a value of next texitem
Here is my authentication information,

Published by: David on August 13, 2010 03:05Do not pass the data values in the URL. If it is possible to escape values to make URL - and APEX parameter-safe, it is much better to avoid the problem completely.
Create a primary key of the substitution on the table which is an immutable discreet digital identifier and use it only as a URL parameter. In pages/target areas, use this value of PK to extract the data from the table.

Clipboard - Insert Utf8/Unicode characters to the Clipboard
I wonder how to add support for unicode to the Clipboard method? Because when am copy my app textarea text, he turns to? (Arabic letters).
Here are my codes which are related only to the Clipboard (added to these files):
. Pro
LIBS += -lbbsystem
all
Q_INVOKABLE void CopyText(QByteArray text);
.cpp
#include
#include using namespace bb::system; qml->setContextProperty("_app", this); void ApplicationUI::CopyText(QByteArray text) { bb::system::Clipboard clipboard; clipboard.clear(); clipboard.insert("text/plain", text); bb::system::SystemToast *toast = new SystemToast(this); toast->setBody("Copied!"); toast->show(); } The function is called. QML
import bb.system 1.0 ActionItem { title: qsTr("Copy Text") onTriggered: { _app.CopyText(txtf1.text) } imageSource: "asset:///images/ic_copy.png" }
I read a lot of forum messages and all API Tunis and I lost! as the use of tr() or QString::toUtf8 etc... !
How can I solve this?
Hello
Please try changing the QString type parameter:
void ApplicationUI::CopyText(const QString &text)
In the function convert the text to UTF-8 byte array:
void Application::CopyText(const QString &text) { bb::system::Clipboard clipboard; clipboard.clear(); clipboard.insert("text/plain", text.toUtf8()); bb::system::SystemToast *toast = new SystemToast(this); toast->setBody("Copied!"); toast->show(); }
I think it was not working before because the function was already taking a QByteArray and implicit conversion (default) converted the ASCII instead of UTF8 encoding string.
BTW, in function of the names Qt applications usually start lowercase letters, but this should not affect anything.

Inserting special characters in the APEX 4.0.2
Hello
I am building an application for use in the Brazil.
I am facing a problem on inserting data with special characters.
For example:
FRANCE in Portuguese is FRANCA. There is a special character-> C
I use a report form.
On the form I type Franca and when I click on create, it refers to the report and shows me French.
c is replaced to a§
If I connect to the database.
I run a select statement and it shows me French.
I have the update Franca and it shows me Franca correctly on the selection.
Back to APEX, it shows me correctly Franca.
I guess the question is on Insertion in the database.
Can someone help me?
Thank you
LeoGood to know. If it please report the answer as being correct, so more people can benefit, in future research.

Special characters in the classic report
Hello
I'm unable to display special characters in the classic report.
"For example""" is coming as ' '.
Is there a way to fix this?
It seems that use characterset "WE8ISO8859P15" is causing this issue, which is a single-byte character set and so unable to encode these characters.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The maximum size of a column report CLOB value is 32 KB. However, the maximum size for the content of the line of the full report is also 32 KB (including the HTML markup), so you can be hitting this limit because of the size of your 10 K CLOB data + the rest of the line.
According to the database character set and the characters which that contains data, the character encoding may use more than one byte to represent a character.

How to see the Greek characters inside a report PDF (made with XML Publisher)
Hello
I just patched my e Business Suite (ver. 11.5.9) in order to use XML Publisher 5.6.3.
It works fine, but I have a big problem when I want to see Greek characters inside my report; rather than see the Greek characters, I see only "?"
I tried to add some fonts under the responsibility of the administrator of the XML Publisher after the Doc ID: 373377.1 'How to install a font using XML Publisher administrator', but my problem remains intact: I do not see my Greek characters
Do I need to add all the other fonts on the file system? and where? (under what path), or I put something at the level of responsibility XML Publisher administrator (under the Administration link)?
Any help will be appreciated, because it is very urgent to know how to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance
AlexAlex,
Check the value of the variable $AF_CLASSPATH, then make sure that JRE_TOP/lib/fonts belongs to this variable env (in addition to $CLASSPATH).

I stopped using Firefox when I became aware of a worm that had been prevalent. Recently, I used new Firefox instead of Internet Explorer or GoogleChrome, but now, I'm afraid that my computer may have been compromised because of China looking for characters in the address bar of Firefox, after that I registered on my gmail account.
This has happened
Just once or twice
Is see above story
If you see CJK (Chinese/Japanese) characters on the title bar of Firefox or Windows task bar, then that can happen if Firefox go to encoding UTF-16 for some reason any.
The extension Plugin RealPlayer browser Record (Tools > Modules > Extensions) has reported that causes this problem.
Be sure not to be confused with the RealPlayer plugin (Tools > Modules > Plugins) that plays media files.
The expansion adds some extra features like save multimedia files.You can disable/remove the extension Plugin RealPlayer browser Record in RealPlayer preferences (RealPlayer: Tools > Preferences > recording and download)

Cannot store Greek characters in the NVARCHAR2 columns
Can someone please.
I have a TEST table with a column of type NVARCHAR2 (20) and when I try to insert the Greek character Ω (Omega) - gets stored as O instead.
I am inserting using SQL Developer, using the prefix "n" and my environment is as follows:
Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64 bit Production
NLS_CHARACTERSET = WE8MSWIN1252
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET = AL16UTF16
NLS_LANG setting client-side is ENGLISH_UNITED KINGDOM. WE8MSWIN1252.
Why can I not enter the Greek characters with the above configuration, and what do I need to do or change in order to include Greek characters in a database by using the national character set to store unicode data?In this case, found on the same chapter of the doc, you may need to set ORA_NCHAR_LITERAL_REPLACE and make sure your app OIC (no jdbc) picks up as a result.

I'm developing some custom reports I need in PDF format. My client has no BI Publisher so I do some custom xsl to generate the reports. I test that I develop using a simple web page that publishes on the apex_fop.jsp. Then I also test by registering the XML and XSL for the database and then query apex_util.download_print_document them and using, passing the XML and XSL as a blob or clob object respectively.
The question I have is an ampersand. The following line
works very well when mailed web page at apex_fop.jsp. However when the same exact file is saved in the database and cross apex_util.download_print_document and open with Adobe Reader, he says the file has been damaged and the fop oc4j application errors log wrote<td>this & that</td>
Oracle.Xml.Parser.v2.XMLParseException: Unexpected EOF
What is the difference between the two methods of appeal and how do I get this symbol in the data using apex_util.download_print_document.
Thank you.Larry,
When you submit your application to apex_fop.jsp via a simple web page and include escaped characters such as '&', your web browser then handles the coding & in your channel. At the TOP, you have a number of different ways to generate your PDF documents. You can use report queries, conventional reports, interactive reports, or call the API to print directly. When using the built-in reports (classic, interactive queries, report), the APEX motor generates the XML document containing your data for you. APEX engine also handles to escape your data, so when you have a value like "this & that" in one of your columns in queries, engine this escape 'as '. The engine also encode the characters such as &, which gets encoded in 26%. And after that, treatment is given an interface between the APEX and the print rendering engine. This interface simply takes the incoming XML data and the style sheet / model and makes an HTTP request to the rendering engine (for example BI Publisher, apex_fop.jsp, etc.). He doesn't no matter what encoding, as had been done in a previous step. The impression APEX API calls this interface directly, which means, that incoming XML data must already be encoded before the call to the EPA. So, if you change your channel 'this & that' to 'the % 26amp; This", it should work as expected. We will have to consider whether we need to improve printing API that allows the encoding of the XML data that is provided by the developer.
Hope this helps,
Kind regards

I bought a new computer. When I try to send an e-mail to multiple recipients, now, I get this message: "there are non-ASCII characters in the local part of the address of the recipient. It is not yet supported. If please change this address and try again. "I don't know what are the non-ASCII characters, so I don't know what to do. I never had this problem on my old computer. Please explain in simple language.
The 'local' part in the context of email addresses, the part to the left of the symbol @. The warning is a bit of a surprise, because in general the owner of a mail server is relatively free to specify the address format. There is a movement to allow the games to other characters to be used in the fields, so I'm a little disappointed to see that, apparently, e-mail does not support the latter in the local part yet or it can be your SMTP server that generates this message.
ASCII characters ("American Standard Code for Information Interchange") are, on the whole, the English alphabet, uppercase and lowercase, as well as figures, common punctuation and case of things like the asterisks, obliques and media bars, but not of accented characters. But even apparently simple things like spaces and dashes have cousins who, at first glance, appear to be identical, but are not represented in the ASCII system. I am thinking especially nonbreaking spaces, dash and half-quadratin.
But I don't know why your new computer must have caused these warnings.

Number of characters in the title and description standard?
This may seem like a strange question, but I want to learn how to write better titles and view descriptions. I want as little of the title and description to be as truncated as possible.
Currently, most of my episodes watch only about 17 characters in the title, but some shows were up to 40 characters showing their title until it is truncated.
No idea why there is a difference and what I can do to get as many characters / words showing as other shows?
My show is Let's Talk Tech and an example of one with longer titles is stuff you need to know.
Thank you.
In the iTunes Store there seems to be plenty of room for the main title. However, the episode titles get truncated if you reduce the width of the window. The column 'Description' (filled by the tag "itunes:subtitle") does not have a lot of space and you must keep the captions as short as possible. 'itunes:summary' tags can be quite long because the secondary window that opens to show them scrolls if necessary.
When you subscribe in iTunes, the user can adjust the widths of the title and descriptions based on himself, so there is no prediction on the size. Once again, the content of the "itunes" Summary "tag can be quite long.
It is best to keep the short titles - I have seen podcasts with a title that includes what is actually a sub-title, and it seems a bit ridiculous. people tend to write the tags "itunes:subtitle" long enough and is not a good idea because they will definitely get truncated.

Firefox cannot display normal characters after the second run
After loading windows, I can run firefox normally, but after the closing and opening of firefox, it shows normal characters in the menu and the text in web pages, in the form of rectangle.
I have try shift + open and turns off modules and selected the check all box and restarted firefox, but the problem exists. even the most recent version completely uninstalled, and installed, but no income.
the only solution is lunching without failure or restart windows.
This problem is started after a system full scan with avira antivirus.
