VAIO tap 11 (issues)

I just wanted to share my thoughts...

I just bought a new Sony Vaio Tap 11 in Malaysia last month. Model number is SVT11215SGB.

Running Windows Pro 8.1 (64-bit) now and I have experienced the following:

1. randomly, if I restart Windowns the machine will go to the "VAIO" screen and stuck there. After 1-2 minutes, I hear the fan running loudly but the screen will just stay and nothing happens. Then, the machine will be very hot. The only thing I can do is to manually close the machine by pressing the power button and turning it back on. I have updated BIOS R0280V8 but still have this problem.

2. I use a mouse bluetooth with this machine. Whenever Windows switch mode 'Sleep' after period of inactivity for a long time and I wake up the PC, bluetooth does not work. "Already patched in.

Greetings and thanks for your message. Unfortunately, we are unable to help customers outside the United States. We recommend contacting the Sony Support Center in your area at http://www.sony-asia.com/section/support for your computer model of the Asia Pacific.

  • Sony Vaio Tap 21 HARD RAM - how - disk update

    Hello

Start a new thread to facilitate research.

Update was made on a 21 Tap Sony VAIO (Asia, HK version) 1 TB HDD 4 GB ram stock.

I've upgraded to Samsung EVO 120 GB n 8 GB of ram. Now, my computer is so much faster and without waiting and hickups. Startup time is around 17 years.

120Gig you get on 40gig left after cloning. For a computer in the kitchen its more then enough for me and I use a Synology nas for centralized storage.

Acronis True Image 2014 has been used for cloning. Please note that you cannot use this program under Win 8 (8.1) to clone your hard drive, it will keep asking you to restart on n all over again. You need to make a bootable usb stick in the program and run it. Otherwise, the program is very easy to use, just follow step by step.

Just install a new HDD/SSD and using recovery disk does not work (not for me).

The 21 Tap opening is easy, just be careful when do you. Please keep in mind that you will void your warranty.

There are two screws one of each side of the vent. They behind plastic covers. Unscrew them and shut down the computer, the screen to the top. The screen is secure w clips and be quiet easy to remove. Use a pick or a cell phone opening tool.  DO NOT USE ANY METAL THING!

Go around the edge of the screen and carefully fold upward so it frees up the chassis. The screen sits like a bakcover on a Samsung phone. Do not go away with you unblocking tools otherwise you may damage some cables, 2 to 3 mm is sufficient.

When you have done that use a suction cup, use my bathroom. Carefully lift up the screen like a car hood, up high "Webcam" and not "Windows key".

    There is quite simple.

Hope everyone understand my bad English

Im not responsible if something goes wrong, you do it on your risk on.

EDIT: I forgot to say that it is a one-handed operation. You have to keep the screen upward with one hand and make the upgrades with your other hand. Lay your computer on a non slippery surface, so you don't slip.

EDIT 2: new links to pictures.

EDIT 3: connector under the yellow sticker is msata.

    Photos

    Hello

His drive regular sata hard, no msata and screws behind the plastic clamp.

Just be Ume when you lift the screen all of the cables are located on the lower edge (Windows Logo). No cables on the sides and the top.

  • Sony Vaio faucet 11 - random touchscreen issues

I bought a 11 Tap Sony VAIO (model SVT11213CXB number) and actually have experienced a similar problem with the touch screen as owners of Duo, but with the mouse cursor goes to the top right (instead of the left) of the display in landscape mode and clicking randomly.

When I bought water from the tap in November, I updated the drivers and BIOS via Vaio Update, ran all the updates of Windows and then upgraded to Windows 8 to 8.1. All updated without problems or errors during the installation. The touch screen seems to randomly occur after the upgrade, but I must confess that I didn't have the tap water well before the upgrade to 8.1. If the question was probably there before the upgrade. I also ran all the patches from Microsoft for the Windows 8.1 "lousy mouse" question and still no change.

After a lot of troubleshooting and research, I narrowed down it to the following:

    Problem driver or firmware 1.)

    IR or RF interference) 2

    3.) related material

#1 seems the most likely in the Duo many owners have argued that the problem has been resolved by installing the N - Trig Duo feel software and drivers.

    http://Forum.TabletPCReview.com/Sony/55222-Sony-VAIO-duo-11-touchscreen-screen-problems.html

But when I run the installer it errors saying that "N-Trig hardware was not detected. I thought then that maybe the update of the modified BIOS 12/17 watered the N-Trig firmware and the touch input was handled only by integrated Windows Pen and Touch. Mainly because the devices and Program Manager installs don't list anything marked "N-Trig. But I went to our Sony store and drivers listed for their display unit is the same as my config. A couple of owners of Duo set out this thread they encountered the same error. The N-Trig support forum suggests that cases where you receive this error during install it to contact the manufacturer of the device. But they only software and drivers for Windows 8 and not 8.1, so this could also be the cause of the error when installing (compatibility mode does not work).

#2: I couldn't really test the theory of IR sensor that I can not understand how to turn off the sensor? It is possible that the sensor could be picking up interference and causing the random input touch screen (the Duo also has the IR sensor?). However, (with the selected hidden devices) Device Manager does not list an infrared device, only devices and printers or Vaio Control Panel? There are drivers that are installed, even if apparently it controls our fine TV using remote app from Sony. I guess I could just cover the sensor with tape, but I was hoping to avoid getting the sticky tape on the cover of my tablet.

RF interference could be a possiblity, but doubtful. The tap water and the Duo have the same power to my knowledge card (I do not use a 3rd party power adapter, I use a Sony supplied with the appliance). However, I tested this theory just now leaving the Tablet unplugged during use and I still encountered the problem. I also tried it away electronic nearby, including my iPhone, but still no change. I thought also keyboard and mouse wireless, the tap water was the issue, but turn it off while the cursor is by clicking at the top right of the screen does not occur. External mouse and keyboards do not solve the problem either (without wireless, wired or bluetooth). I could not reproduce the problem on the touchscreen in the case, sometimes just at random and generally lasts no more than 10 seconds when it does.

I had to move my taskbar to the top of my screen so that it does not close the window of program or browser that I work and instead just opening the window date and time repeatedly.

I really hope this isn't #3 I have not had the time unit and will not exchange it for another and will not bother to send it in for repair. Especially since the owners in other threads Duo have had their screens replaced, only to have the problem reoccur. The owners of duo have also tried a full system refresh, only to have the same problem, so I'm not bothering with this track that I don't want to have to reinstall all my software again, reactivate licenses.

Return to Best Buy holiday window expires on Jan 14, so if I don't get a response from Sony or get this resolved before then I'm probably just to take it back. I'm past an Apple Macbook Air for the tap water and even sold my Mini iPad I wanted a true all-in-one device. I was also counting on exchanging my iPhone against a Xperia from Sony Z1, but I'm hesitant examining the issues I'm having my first purchase of Sony.

Overall I really like the direction that Sony goes with their products and want to stay with them, but I have to admit that the quality of the devices Apple and their response to the questions related to the products is currently unmatched. I hope Sony can deliver the same question, but I'm skeptical that a few discussions about this with the Duo go back to 2012, early 2013 with still no resolution or definitive answer as to why the Support of Sony.

Yes, quite the question. It's probably an electrical interference or software. Out of curiosity, have you tried to test whether or not it engages with and without power cord? This seems like one of the things isolated by a few people then allows to rule that, at the present time. Second would be if you tried to calibrate the screen? There are instructions on how to do it here: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37544/c/65%2C66/kw/37544.

Let me know what happens and I'll see what we can do from there. Sony is a great place to get electronics but hiccups occur. My Duet works well and I didn't so far no problem with the touch screen.

  • X 1 carbon TouchPad 'tap' issue

From a T400 and T430 I used to work perfectly keys touch. Side with keyboards cela an important reason for me to buy premium priced at Lenovos on other areas of activity. And I use the TouchPad almost exclusively in particular places of clients and on the trips, which represents 80% of my work.

With the new X 1 carbon (3448AW6) that I have a very annoying problem with ~ 70% failure in grateful 'tapping', such as mouse clicks. Wet conditions feel bad at the beginning, which is mentioned by UltraNav documentation. A few observation I find that it is pretty much the same in very dry air of winter in Europe.

    Description of the problem:

By tapping touchpad causes the mouse pointer stirring a little left and right, as if there was a small movement - and not tapping. Sometimes it wiggles and also recongnizes look, but most of the time it isn't. With very firm tapping, this can be avoided about 90% - but is not an acceptable solution, the same thing with using the TrackPoint buttons only.

Change the 'touch' sensitivity in the UltraNav settings does not lead to any improvement on the standard parameters, which is surprising. I guessed that the sensitivity would be the reason for all this.

I want my reliable TouchPad behavior of the T4x0 return series. They worked reliably in humid Southeast and Asia throughout the rest of the world. Someone at - it an idea to solve this problem?

    Hi again, ixomon

There is a latest driver that we can try to install it. This driver is the base of Synaptics driver. This driver has helped other issues where the UltraNav driver didn't, so it can provide assistance. This driver is located here.

    Good luck

  • Sony vaio vgn cr220e webcam issues

Update to Windows 7 caused my webcam to stop working.  I think the problem is double.  (1) I don't have the original software.  (2) software can not detect the webcam.

If I go to Device Manager it says my driver is up to date and I have a composite USB device with a pic of a camera.  When I download the software, it tries to bind to the cam and does not work.  Even google video chat will not recognize the camera.  The original software from sony on the site of sony vaio is still formatted for Vista I think what does not help either.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Hi burner_na,

Method 1. Drivers compatibility mode installation:
If there are no drivers for Windows 7 64-bit, download Windows Vista drivers and install Windows Vista SP 2 compatibility mode.

You can find more information on compatibility modes in the articles below:

For more help see the following:

  • The Sony Vaio dvd Tap Bios boot

Someone knows how to get bios screen, or at least start from a DVD on the new Vaio tablet tap handles. I want to clone some of them. There are some assist button, but I think it's like a thinkvantage on lenovo / IBM.

  • Tap simple trackpad issue integrated

You just bought Macbook Air MMGF2HN/A. There the last OS X El Capitan 10.11.5. Having some problems with the only tap water in the built-in trackpad. Sometimes (not often) the single tap doesn't work. For example, I tap on a tab in an application, but tab does not open (and I must add, the app was 'active', he wasn't running in one window behind the other).

In my opinion I don't think that it's a hardware problem, rather, it may be a software problem. But it is, of course, very frustrating for a camera of 2 days.

Open system preferences > trackpad > point & click > check the box: Tap to click with a finger.
