BlackBerry unlocking BB Bold smartphones

I will be traveling in Europe for 3 months and want to avoid heavy roaming charges. I read that release the "BOLD" and using a prepaid SIM card is the way to go. I bought the code to unlock the phone remotely, but in fact this is done because I'm a little scared the implications for security, etc., in the case where something live upward. I'm with Rogers. Any advice on the risks associated with release it? Thanks in advance for any help.

You can use a prepaid sim card, but your blackberry doesn't work as a phone, no mail, no Messenger, nothing, only phone.

And the suggestion of another, why you paid to unlock the device?, if you are abroad for a long time, you can call your operator and ask for the unlock code (and free) to use the phone overseas.

  • Data service no. Fido blackBerry, with the help of unlocked Rogers Bold 9700 Smartphones

    Hello

Recently, I've unlocked a Bold 9700 from Rogers and began to use it with my Fido sim card.  I added a small data plan to my current services of Fido, but I get all the data.  I called Fido 3 times and they do not seem to do anything.  They gave me their APN settings and I enter data manually and not always.

    What could be the problem?

Fido has you on a BlackBerry data plan or a generic data plan? To use the data on your BlackBerry, you will need a BlackBerry data plan.

It is the first place I would check... That said, if this isn't the problem, I would try reloading the software on the device, just in case there is a problem.

Also, have you bought the phone used or has been used under a COMPUTER policy at work? If so, it can help to reset the phone to factory settings.

To reset the phone to factory settings, follow the instructions here: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14202

To reload the operating system on your phone, use these instructions here (using Rogers as the carrier since it's a Roger phone brand): http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Device-software-for-BlackBerry/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-S...

  • BlackBerry smartphones, how can I make my BlackBerry 8800 looks like BlackBerry 8900 or "BOLD"?

UH... How can I make my BlackBerry 8800 looks like BlackBerry 8900 or "BOLD"?

    Thank you...

The smartphone BlackBerry 8800 a software v4.2 or 4.5 for later.  BlackBerry 5, 6 or 7 device software is not available for this model.

  • "New to me" blackBerry smartphones unlocked BB bold 9700 no option of internet email configuration

I just bought refurbished BB bold 9700.  I use Speakout prepaid service and have no data, but I want to configure my yahoo email using wifi.  However, there is no option for the Internet e-mail account in the Setup menu.  Since the menu implementation, when I click on email accounts it automatically goes to the company setting up accounts and nothing else.  When I go to the tips section it says this, 'If you see not this option contact your administrator or your wireless service provider.  Any thoughts?

Hello and welcome to the community!

Legacy of BB devices can't do email (or any other exclusive function of BB) via WiFi only. Even if used via WiFi, adequate data of a carrier plan must be a subscriber to the to enable these functions. You must subscribe to a data plan that allows the BIS to have functions of e-mail, even if you do not want to use it over WiFi.

A more recent device of BB10 has not, on the other hand, this requirement... BB10 devices can do all the functions via WiFi, without any carrier data plan. But your legacy device does not have this capability.

    Good luck!

  • E-mail account to delete Smartphones blackBerry OS 5; Bold 9700

I have a Bold 9700 unlocked running OS 5 I used with a SIM card international of the United Kingdom and then foreign service briefly with a totally different supplier (on a business plan).  I have recently re-established his residence in the United States and am allowing my son to use the BB for now.  We have a new AT & T SIM card which has never had a BB account provisioned on this subject.

I did a wipe securely on the phone.  The phone continues to receive messages from a yahoo.com account.  When I go to Setup-> configuration of personal e-mail and then click on 'back' (to not set up a new account), I get a message "there is no such thing as an email address currently on your Blackberry device"- and yet, I still get messages on the yahoo.com account and can respond, discover records, etc.  When I check the Service books, there is no registration for any book of service not associated with the email account; Indeed, no list of CMIME at all.

How can I delete an e-mail access on behalf of yahoo.com this phone? How in the world he continued to receive emails?

    Thank you.

Updated in case others run into the same problem.

My challenge stretched for a few hours, first with AT & T and then with rising support BB (was helpful and professional, just BTW - took some time).  No one could understand at first how the phone was receiving emails when no e-mail account has been installed.  Turns, it could receive emails but not send.  The question of my previous service provider: Airtel India.

Indian SPs are intensely competitive, and when you request a closure plan, several things happen: (1) it takes several days to kill the service. (2) they call you repeatedly ask if you want to transfer the SIM card / service to a parent, a friend, or convert a prepaid account, but to keep alive where you need (no matter how many times say you no). and (3) the MS maintains the 'active' account even after closing down for a period of 30 days or more - it is so if you decide to return to MS, you won't need to do a fresh install.

My Indian Airtel account was ordered closed three weeks ago - kept Airtel my yahoo.com address active on the BIS servers.  So notwithstanding the fact that I used a card SIM ATT, BB servers somehow "linked" account e-mail on the physical device, and the e-mail was received.  Interestingly, I couldn't send / reply to emails, because no e-mail account has been created on the device - however, the aircraft was always receive emails.

After three factory reset and reinstall, it took climbed BB support to 'kill' the Airtel connection to the device.  They came through in the end!

My problem is solved and this thread can be closed / locked.

  • Smartphone blackBerry 8800 to "BOLD" upgrade

email does not work after doing the transfer using office

If you are using an at & t bold, not unlocked and the United States, go to http://wireless.att.com/blackberrystart and register your IMEI and PIN and sign up here.  You can add all your email addresses, change the signature "sent via blackberry" to be what you want and what the service books sent to your phone for your e-mail addresses.

If you do not use at & t, google " BIS" and who generally back the registration of BIS for most carriers.

If this helped, please mark this thread as solved so you don't know other users with the same problem the solution.

  • Message from password disabled Smartphone blackBerry on BB bold 9700

I downloaded new software on my computer and couldn't remember my password, so I reset my password with BB and was able to connect on the site Web of Blackberry. The password is correct. But when I tried to connect my phone to the computer to download the pictures, the password did not work and the message says the cennot software to connect with my phone. I ended up using all my 10 chances of connection and the message came if I try once more, entire data on my phone will be erased. What should I do?

Hello and welcome to the community!

The password requested by Desktop software and the password you assigned to lock your BB are the same password and have nothing to do with any password you can change online. They are not your BBID credentials, nor anything else... only the device lock password, which only exists on the device and is necessary for you to enter the desktop software.

First thing... If you know your password locking device and how to enter the device, and then disconnect your PC and unlock your BB device normally... This will reset the password attempt counter and prevent the reset.

What I suspect is that you have a mix of different characters in your device password and you may not notice how you enter on the keyboard of the BB. For example, if your password

    • AB123

    and if you enter

    • a > b > ALT > 1 > 2 > 3

    the result will be

    • ab1er

    You must enter

    • a > b > ALT > 1 > ALT > 2 > ALT > 3

in order to close with ab123. Thus, in this example, while on the BB keyboard, you think you type ab123, you actually type ab1er.

On your BB, when you type your password, you should get a moment where each character is indicated in clear before it turns into a *. Watch carefully next time and you will see a surprising result. It will be the exact characters that you type on the keyboard of your PC, because it is in fact your password.

    Good luck!

  • BB in blackBerry bold Smartphones 9790 battery life and temperature

I used Blackberry curve 8520 and not been disappointed until the 9790 bold. Within 5 days, the reduced 1 day-hours battery life.

    It's even worse

1 when the battery life is less 65% is greater than the demand for phone on battery, it of performance and the heat of the battery up to a scary point and die faster.

2 less than 65% the phone take charge and no is not controllable and crashed constantly.

will you please reply as soon as possible because I'm afraid something will happen to me because of the temperature of the phone. I just bought the phone 5 days ago and I can't give it back to the supplier as I bought the UNITED Arab Emirates and now I am in Egypt

There is obviously something weird going on inside your phone.

Let's start with a battery pull.  Something in your operating system does not work correctly if a battery pull he must solve.  Remove the battery while your phone is on, then replace it.

If that does not improve the performance of your phone, it might be a good idea to reload the OS of your phone using BlackBerry Desktop Software.  You don't even have to load a new OS, sometimes just reload the same OS makes the turn.

Try these suggestions and post back with your results.

  • Question of the blackBerry Smartphones Blackberry ID on "BOLD" again.

I changed to a BB BOLD 9900, can't remember the password to my ID and have no idea what the answer to the security question. My camera said go online and I can reset the password with the duty to remember the security question. I can't do it, he wants the issue of security. Now he has locked me twice. Help, please!

    Thanks for the clarification...

I passed to the KB26361 and followed the process, it says. Always BB wants a password recovery question answered.

Well, you used, regarding this KB, the word "process", which is the singular form of the word. However, that particular KB contains multiple processes, so I can't say with certainty if you continued through it to the specific method for failing to provide the answer to the security question, with the 'Note', it contains regarding the absence of having already (in the past) confirmed the BB ID... and, if no, then indeed the security issue cannot be circumvented.

Please specify if you have indeed found and tried this specific section in this KB.

    davcolpitts wrote:

I don't know what it means the Blackberry ID has not confirmed. How can it be confirmed when it was used on the old BB.

When you create a BBID account, you will receive an email, with a link that you must click to confirm your account (in order to validate, for the system, which you are actually available on this email address). But, if you ignore this request for confirmation, you don't stop using your BBID... for various purposes, but this effect (to automatically recover access to your BBID) is indeed blocked unless you know the answer to the Security Question you created originally (as part of the validation of identity, to ensure that you are who you claim to be).

Since you can now connect in your BBID from anywhere (for example, PC/browser), you can now check the status of your BBID confirmation. Until you solve the access to your BBID, you can't do anything with it now. BBID, like all things BB, is very safe... but the human component is critical for safety. When the human component fails, there is only so that the automatic recovery process can do to help... and you seem to be in a situation that is beyond what those automated recovery process can do.

What information do you meed help.

Me? There's nothing I can do about it. Reference:

But, to try to get the human intervention is fully described already in this same post to which I've linked to post you 3 above.

  • BlackBerry 9000 "BOLD" Smartphones shows 1 unread email problem

Yesterday, my 9000 "BOLD" began to show that I had 1 unread email (the icon at the top of the main screen).  The e-mail tab folder EVERYTHING was not a red stars indicating unread messages and when I go to the email app and press U for unread I get the message "No Unread Messages in the list"

Today I received emails 34 icon went to 35 unread, I opened all the 34 for today and the icon still shows 1 unread.  I also highlighted all the emails, them marked as read and then scored as reading and still the icon shows unread 1!

I tried a battery pull to clear the icon but that did not work or the other.

Please can someone advise how to clear this?

    Thank you very much

    Bob

Tips to clear the message unread... try them in the order.

(you probably have a RECORDED message, unread).

If you have a new icon rogue Message on your home screen, or a negative number (-1), one of these solutions could erase or reset:

    Try these options:
The main Messages folder and select today's date, click on the menu button and then select Mark prior opened.
    * Hard Reset BlackBerry now ALT CAP (right Shift key) and DEL (or with the BlackBerry power, remove the battery and reinsert the battery)
    Messages > saved Messages
Messages > view folders, check each folder (calls, SMS and MMS, and boxes, saved missed boxes, browser, phone logs etc.)
    * Scroll at the top of the folder, on the title menu, click or tap to MARK PRIOR OPEN date
Change your theme and see if it persists and return to your desired theme. (Options > theme > select.)
    * Connect to Desktop Manager > backup/restore > advanced. On the right pane is the list of the data on your device. Scroll to the e-mail highlighted messages database, and then below, select TRANSPARENT. This will clear your system of all messages.
    * Clean and reload your OS.

  • BlackBerry OS 6.0 Smartphones and the Blackberry Bold 9700

I'm new to Blackberry, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I read that OS 6.0 will be out soon. I will be able to load it on my Bold 9700 from T-Mobile? If Yes, what is the best way to know when it is available? I will be able to simply connect my Blackberry up to the Desktop Manager on my computer and load? Thank you.

No one yet can answer these questions.

My "thinking" is that OS 6.0 will be released first on new devices. If it is the result of past experiences, you will see probably available for some of the most recent (like the 9700 devices), at some point, but no one doesn't know, and those that do, are not certainly say.

So... my recommendation: check back around here at beginning-middle of the summer.
