Validate the file name extension

Hello
New problem. lol I have a file browse button that allows you to add in a file. I want to be able to see if the extension of the file is XML or PDF or another. I want that they will not be able to implement XML in the field. On validations in APEX how I would approach it when it tries to send the form. Say they put in a PDF file and skip wants only XML files.
Any idea.
Thank you

Try this

Perform a validation for your item to browse file of the SQL type EXISTS.

to put validation text:

SELECT 1
  FROM DUAL
 WHERE SUBSTR(:P4_FILEBROWSE1,LENGTH(:P4_FILEBROWSE1)-3) = '.xls';
{code}

Where :P4_FILEBROWSE1 is the name of your file browse item.

Good Luck,
Tyson

  • Cannot unselect the file name extensions and hidden items

    Nice day

I use Windows 8 Pro. I noticed that all my files file name extensions
are visible, so I went in to my folder and under show/hide display board, I saw that "File name Extensions" are checked
    and "Hidden Items" unchecked.
I then tried to uncheck "File name Extensions", but nothing happens. The checkbox just reappears and I can't delete
the name of the file extensions, so to speak. Also I cannot view my hidden object because when I check this box it displays a check mark
for a split second and then it is still a time unchecked.
I also went in Folder Options in Control Panel, click on "View files, folders and drives" and I checked
him "Hide extensions of known file types" applied, but nothing happens. When I reopen it the Folder Options both of them
    Yet once are unchecked.
If anyone can help me in this matter, it will be appreciated gratefully.

  • The file names changed in wingdings, including the file extension and I can't delete, change them, open, etc. Here are the pictures.

Have (had) a file with multiple files it contains with pictures in each file.  A week ago the pictures were there.  Now, the names are replaced by wingdings as names and file extensions.  When I try to open it, it is not accessible and that the file name, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect.  When I try to delete it, it says that the file name you specified is invalid or too long and specify a different name.  When I try to rename it, it tells me that if I change the file name extension, the file may become unusable.  If I try to change anyway, it says I've specified file name is not valid or too long.  Only tried for the name 1.  I did a restore in the case where a program interfered with that.  However, nothing has changed.  All of the suggestions.

You can download and try to delete the file Unlocker http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtmlwilh.  Although it is not designed for this particular circumstance, it may very well work in all cases, as it has been very successful in a wide variety of situations are not specifically highlighted in the directions (where do not work the normal Vista options).  NOTE: Some antivirus flag programs this program as a malware, but it is a 'false positive' and is safe to use perferctly.  My own software to flag, but several other well-known software products it clean and the warning is included in the documentation of the program.

I wish there was a way to save the images, but at this point, it seems that the only option is to delete because you can't rename files EHF (if this option is available-I hope that work above).  Unfortunately, System Restore does not affect the files of data, so even if a program caused this, System Restore can eliminate the cause, but it would not restore the files to their previous names.

If you have Vista Business, Vista Ultimate or Vista Enterprise, you can be lucky because they retain the files called snapshots http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Previous-versions-of-files-frequently-asked-questions.  It can be used to recover previous versions of files that have been changed or deleted accidentally.  Here's how: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/shadow-copy.aspx.

If you have Vista Basic or Premium of Vista, you don't have a shadow, but there is a free program for you that does essentially the same thing called Shadow Explorer: http://www.shadowexplorer.com/.  I suggest that you download and implement as soon as POSSIBLE to protect you if you accidentally delete or modify a file.  It will not help you in this instance, but it can help save the next time.

I'm more concerned about why this has happened in the first place and prevent it from happening again.  I saw file names change before, but never of wingdings which then do not let you open, edit, delete, or rename.  We will check some of your system files: go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  If you find any these corrupted files, try to post them here.  Maybe we can replace the good files on the disc.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.

If this does not work, then please post repetitive errors in Event Viewer about the name change (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html.

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work - but it will probably not fix your renamed files.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

    Good luck!

  • Cannot install - the downloaded file name extension is .7z and I am not able to open it

    Hi all

Hope someone can help. I just downloaded my Creative Suite, but can't install the program that my computer does not recognize the file name extension ending with.7z of a 7Z file.

    DesignStandard_CS6_LS16.7z

    What's next?

    Mata

You can download the files from the link Atul mentions above.

Under Windows, there is a .exe file and usually a .7z file.

Download the two files in the same folder and run the Exe file to start the installation

If you have additional questions, please see the instructions to extract the files and install your product.

  • How can I have the file name as visible caption on the photo

I have several hundred digital images that I have edited and saved with a meaningful file name.  I would like to produce a slide show and then burn to DVD with the name of the file as a legend, preferably (but not necessarily) without the file name extension (for example, my photo.jpg would show as 'my picture').

I (Pinnacle Studio) software that will import photos or DVD, and I'll create my slide show with Studio, since I am familiar with this software, but the Studio does not automatically create captions.  Re-type the captions for each slide will be intensive work and maybe isn't necessary.  I have a couple of programs that will produce a legend using the file name, but they are old and do not have an option to burn a DVD - only to run the slide show from the software owner.  I also Ulead FT 6 and Adobe PS Elements 6.  I am running Vista and have another computer with XP, so I have the photo editing software that comes with those.  I haven't found something that will prepare a folder of photos by file name as legend I can burn on a DVD.

searching on the Internet I found a few programs for sale that seem to have the ability to do what I want, but I have hundreds of programs, and I don't want to buy another for only this seemingly simple task.  There are shareware/freeware/trialware which will allow me to display the file name as captions for photos and then burn a DVD or create a file that I can burn it with Nero for import into Studio 12 or 14 Studio?

  • Unmasking the exported files file name extension

    Hello

When you export a Pages (PDF, DOCX...) file (.pdf, .docx...) file name extension is hidden automatically, even if it appears in the file save dialog box. As it is for most of the files that will be sent to the employees on a PC, see the file extension name is very important.

Is it possible to force Pages to let these visible extensions?

    Thank you!

    Paolo

It belongs to your PC users own parameters so they have file extensions or not.

On a Mac, just select the file and Get Info (command I) then check the box show the file extension .

There is also a checkbox in the Save dialog to show or hide the extension.

  • Some Excel files download but do not show associated with Excel or seem to have no file name extension.

Some Excel files download but do not show associated with Excel or seem to have no file name extension. If I download these files using Internet Explorer, they open properly. I can add xls or xlsx file and it will open properly with Excel. If I select the file open the 'Open with' dialog box and I If select Excel, the file does not open at all... nothing happens and Excel does not open. The excel in the picture as an attachment file are those where I added the excel file name extension.

Unfortunately, the way that Firefox gives the name of file is more literal and less improvisational than Internet Explorer, you may need to add this extension .xls or .xlsx yourself from time to time.

If you want to do it in the shortest time, you can change the immediate download to ask you where to save the file, which also foresees the possibility to change the file name. If you want to try it, the setting is described here: start-up, homepage, tabs and download settings.

  • How to change a Movie Maker file name extension

I am trying to load a video You Tube and Facebook of Movie Maker on Vista, yet both programs say that they do not support the MSWMM file name extension. How can I change the extension wmv or something supported by these programs without destroying the file?
I already changed the position of file name by renaming the file, but it destroyed and I was not even able to see.

    Hi Linsala,

Try highlighting your video on the collection list and then clicking Save film on top of the toolbar. Go through the steps and it should save it as a wmv.

  • How can I change the file type extension?

    Help please!

I was working in Paint.net and thought that my changes have been saved but I incorrectly saved in Paint.net it as 'nom.1' and making it inaccessible to paint.net or any program being the type of file 'file '.  I then changed the name of "long.bmp", and who seemed like he did to be accessible but Paint.net is still not open it.  On another file that I made the same mistake on, I changed the name to "name2.pdn" that worked and I am able to open it properly.  I tried to change the name on the premiere of "name.pdn" in Windows Explorer, but for this file, it only changes the name "name.pdn" and not the extension.  It's always a ".bmp" file  How can I change to a file real '.pdn '?

  • Cannot right click Windows 7 Explorer of files to generate the copy of the file names in a Notepad or Excel-compatible file. HELP REQUESTED!

I struggled for several hours to restore the service right click that I used to have XP to Windows 7.  I need to save lists of file names such as displayed in the file Explorer. Allowing you to right-click and save files in Notepad. This option has been removed in Windows 7 and anything put in place to restore it.

I have lists of items in the inventory and need to copy and paste the image corresponding to a transfer sheet to allow the server names to match images in article SKU.  The file names are long and typing is a complete waste of time.

I used to be able to find them in the Windows Explorer, right-click on the directory and generate a txt file that I could open in Notepad or Excel.  -Easy.  Now right-click only allows an export in an uneditable image in ONE NOTE. This is useless for me. I can't do anything with an image file - I need the editable data.

Is there a solution?  I need only the file name and extension, not the full path, in a text or spreadsheet document propagation.

I had used the Microsoft solution to install their dose without knowing the final format was a NOTE image file format and not a simple txt file. I try now too write the batch file:

    %windir%\Printdir.bat

or edit it in order to keep the file in Notepad and do not make the final conversion into a single Note.

The problem is that the fix from Microsoft, designed to fix this problem, has placed the conversion file in the root directory and it cannot be overwritten.  I refused the possibility to delete, edit or write the file due to the requirements of administrative privilege mandated by the security of Windows 7 too much.

So if anyone has a solution to every problem - that would help - I am very tired and frustrated and not happy with Microsoft.  Their zealous concern with security made their unnecessary programs for me and have further discouraged me to convert to the windows 10. frustrations and nightmares are waiting for me there I can't imagine.  What I really want to do at this point is to go back to XP.

He ate five hours of my day. I don't have the time to fight like that. I am trying to be productive, but all I got are monumental technical walls and roadblocks - often designed into the system. Frustrating doesn't begin to describe it.

Found a solution on a Web site:

    http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to-print-a-directory-tree-from-Windows-Explorer.html

They said it was for VISTA, but worked for me under Windows 7. You will need to use Notepad to the command prompt and select run as administrator to save the file in the root directory.

    Thanks for the help.

    Cheers.

Yes, you can change the file name of the file BAR, just keep the .bar extension and you shouldn't have any problems.

  • Determine the file name lengths

Is this possible in Windows 7 to determine the length of the file names in an old and its subfolders?

I tried some freeware programs that are supposed to do, but with not much luck.

    Thank you

Sounds like pretty simple job for someone who knows how to write scripts that run in Windows, in something like Visual Basic.  Until this person comes to help here, I will mention that a method I've found is to go to the desired folder, copy the filepaths of the elements there, paste into an Excel sheet and use formulas to deal with the results.

More details: when opening the file (or do a search in this folder), click on organize, click Select all, press on and hold down the SHIFT key and right-click on any file name, click Copy as path, go to an Excel spreadsheet and paste it into cell A2 to display a column to fill with paths.  Because we want to count the characters in the names of files and no paths together, we have a few delicate manufacturing formula Excel.

I did the labels column for cells A1 to E1: entirepath filename extension namelength pathlength.  B2 E2 to cells contain these formulas:

    B2

    = IF (ISERROR (FIND("\",A2)), A2, RIGHT (A2, LEN (A2) - FIND ("|", SUBSTITUTE (A2, "-","|", LEN (A2) - LEN (SUBSTITUTE(A2,"\",""))))))

    C2

    (= IF (ISERROR (FIND(".",B2)),"", RIGHT (B2, LEN (B2) - FIND ("|", SUBSTITUTE (B2, ".","|", LEN (B2) - LEN (SUBSTITUTE(B2,".",)))) "" ")))

    D2

    = LEN (A2)

    E2

    = LEN (B2)

Note that the namelength will include characters from file extension, or at least it did for me: I always keep the setting to display the file extension in Windows.

For all information from production lines according to the formulas, select cells B2 to E2, copy, select the cells on the lower lines of the C2 at the last line with a filepath showing and paste.
