  • Validation in Windows Vista Home Premium at the start: errors and complications.

I was directed to this forum as a last chance for my situation.  I'll copy what I wrote before:

First of all: I can't run Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.

With that of the road, I'll try to explain my situation.  Earlier today, I ran in the hope to get rid of some unnecessary files in disk cleanup. Well, he eventually delete most everything out of my C: drive.  So I ran a restoration of the system to an earlier time.  After the restoration, I tried to connect but received a box saying that my Windows Vista Home Premium product key is not valid.  They gave me three options:

Reduced functionality mode (does not work; see below)

    Enter the product key

Contact HP - do you have this: they wanted $ 100.

Now before to get started by offering suggestions, you need to get more information.

I can't use the reduced functionality mode.  When I click on it, an error with file not found window appears.  The only way I can access my desktop is by going into safe mode, and I can't go in safe mode with network.  So based on this little bump in the road, I was not able to use the tips I found online, because none of those working in safe mode.

Now there is more.  Frustrated, I tried to follow guides anyway.  So I followed the following steps:

    Step #3 game

    (1) open Internet browser

    (2) Type%windir%\system32into the browser address bar.

    (3) find the CMD.exe file

    (4) make a right click on CMD.exe and selectrun as administrator

    (5) type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, click Yes)

    (6) type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

    (7) type: Rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

    (8) type: cd %windir%\system32

    (9) Typenet start slsvc

    (10) type: cscript slmgr.vbs - FLIR (it may take time for this will be complete, please be patient)

    (11) restart twice

Not only that not solve my problem (since I was in safe mode I was refused permission), but it has created a new problem.  Now when I start my computer normally, IM is more given three options (reduced functionality mode, enter a product key, contact HP).

Instead, when I log on, an error pops up saying: "Insert the Windows CD or installation DVD into your computer to begin the process of resettlement." Now, my computer was shipped with windows and everything installed by the factory with the sticker on the side of the tower.  I have no Dvd or Cd.

I've had this computer for almost 3 years and I can not lose what I have on my computer. I have a genuine copy of Windows.  I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now.

    I used these links:

  • I have a serial number valid for windows Vista Home Basic, but my hard drive crashed and I have no way to re - install vista on my computer. I am looking for a download so I can do it.

Basically, I installed windows 2000 on my machine and I can't find a download for windows vista home basic that doesn't have some kind of crack or keygen. I want a legal copy not a hack. I have the serial number supplied with my computer. where can I find this download or get a drive.

Here are all LEGAL for Vista:

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

get a blue screen with same error a few times, especially when on the internet

    Hello

1 have you tried the methods mentioned in the post above?

Please get back with the results so we can help you better.

Method 1: You can also configure your computer in a clean boot state and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 2: Also I suggest you to see the link below, which will help you solve the stop (blue screen) errors in Windows Vista.

  • Error KERNEL STACK INPAGE ERROR on Windows Vista SP2 blue screen

Original title: KERNEL STACK INPAGE ERROR

What can cause a crash with the KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR message in a blue screen.  Ive had just a new hard drive installed.  Running Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2.  Usually occurs when returning from standby or Hibernate mode.

    Hi JerryHines,

This problem can occur if a requested page of kernel data could not be read on the paging file into memory, or the master boot record is infected with a virus.

Method 1:  I understand that you have installed a new hard drive, run the disk check to repair bad sectors on your hard drive

Note: CHKDSK would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.

Check your hard drive for errors

  • Validation or Activation of Windows Vista (OEM) after the replacement of components & reinstalling

    Hi all

I just had on the phone speaking to the people of Microsoft online help. After some discussion and blaming 'SLUI 4' (according to instructions), I am still unable to validate (activate) my legal copy of Windows and the Lady on the phone told me to come on this forum to help! ~ (What joke Microsoft management!) ~ She said she was unable to help because my copy of Vista is an OEM version and she said I need to contact the manufacturer. I said, the manufacturer was no longer in business, so now what? She said to go on the forums. So here I am!

Also, I think the first why I cannot now turn on Vista it's because the PC has had a few different hard disks over the years and during the summer I had to replace the power supply that the original has stopped working. I had a similar problem with another PC a few years ago and it has been easily resolved on the phone speaking with MS online help, but now's done it a lot more difficult for me (using this forum) that I am dyslexic and find writing and reading indeed very laborious.

In any case, I have reviewed the above and tried a few things, but none have worked for me. Then, please, make my life livable explaining what can I do to activate my Vista in simple terms?

Is received the following message when you try to validate my copy of Vista after a clean re-installation:

"The product key you entered is already in use.

Reasons can be: a new power supply & different hard drives have been installed by myself.

    Please, please help!

Best regards & thanks a lot, a lot.

    November 10, 2015.

    Hi all

As indicated, I wiped the hard drive, re-partitioned and formatted just to make sure he was completely clean and there is no hidden bad guys or persistent files corrupted, etc..  I then reinstalled Windows Vista, did a few main, graphics drivers updates, etc and then tried to 'turn on' online.

The bad news is that it still not be accepted and once more displayed: "the product key you entered is already in use.  So, I was a little irritated but not totally surprised, because if there is one thing that I've noticed over the years that Windows operating system are very compatible with their annoying messages! ~ However, this is not the end, read on:

As you do on these occasions, I thought then of what could be done then that I have not already tried? ~ Well I have to say now that my reason to reinstall Vista is not because I have no desire burning back somehow, it is finally to Windows 10. But before I could do I need to install a "Windows 7 Upgrade" I bought in 2010 when my son was in college.

This got me wondering if the message could be related in some way, to upgrade?  Twenty minutes after that, my son came into the room and offers exactly the same thing!  Without hesitation, I installed Windows 7 Upgrade and tried to validate online and hey-presto it worked!

So, for anyone else having similar problems with a re-installation and who have also used a version upgrade of Windows later, is probably the answer ~ if all else fails.  Thus, 14 lb hammer remained in the garage!

I am glade to say that the problem of Vista activation/validation is now resolved, even better Windows 10 is installed.

A big thank you to all who tried to help with this annoyance.

    Hello

Use the phone activation method > do not follow the Auto guests > hang to a real person explain that you have reinstalled using the recovery supplied with your computer disks and Activation does not work.

It is explained in this link

  • I have a copy of Halo 2 for Windows Vista disc and the login screen keeps telling me 'No product valid key'

I bought a copy of Halo 2 for Windows Vista drive during the Christmas holidays and after that I installed the game, valid and registered the product key with the installation program, I load the game to connect to Games for Windows Live and he informs me that "your product key invalid. It seems that through my research on the Internet, I have to request a new key to use my game. I called Microsoft Technical Support, and told me to come here to get answers on how to get a new product key. Apparently Microsoft Engineers could give me a new key from what the woman for Microsoft said.
EDIT: I received a reference number for Microsoft colleagues to use to search for my problem:

EU the link below to download the ISO of Windows Vista. It's totally free.
The site is Digital River. It is 100% legitimate. It is recognized and supported by Microsoft.

The link also teach you how to burn the iso file on a bootable install DVD.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-Microsoft-Windows-Vista-official-ISO-download-links-Digital-River.aspx

Although it says Dell at the top of the page, it applies to both Dell or other than Dell.

Make sure that you select the correct version of bit.

    x 86 32-bit version =

    x 64 = 64-bit version.
