Validity of callers posing as technicians from WINDOWS

I received phone calls from Las Vegas - techwindowscare.com indicating that they get form on my computer windows error messages.  They spoke to me leaving them on my computer then aasked me money or my computer would crash.  I take a chemo treatment, and my brain does not work at height.  I was very much in doubt these people because they sounded like they were all of the India and do not speak English.  My computer store where I take to fix computers told me that it was a hoax, and I got caught.  Ttech sevice insists that they represent windows.  They are legitimaate or I have beeen caught rally and if I got caught, I leave it on my computer, they still have access to my computer?  I've been sick worried about it.  Thank you

The ball is right. Once more, no Windows techies would call you out of the blue. I'm a Windows user for the past 13 years, I have not received all calls of technicians of Windows for reasons either. As a former bank employee, I suggest you to block your first debit and credit cards. . Then reapply a new because there is a good chance that your financial info may have been compromised. Also if you use netbanking, then talk to executives of the Bank. They will help you. You need to change all of your passwords.

Good luck

  • my hp mini 210-1041-nr needs migrate from windows xp to another new.

Hello. I'm new here and I really want to know if you could help me to learn how I could change the OS of my mini 2101041NR hp, because I received a message from windows my pc will not be taken in charge by the essencial windows security because the version of xp won't be supported for this tool. I want to know if there is a version of a new operating system that I use now and how I could replace it. Thank you very much!

Here are the specifications of your computer of HP Mini 210-1041NR. According to these specifications, it seems that your computer meets the minimum requirement for installing Windows 7 32 bit. Please download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to confirm this before installing Windows 7. You can buy a copy of Windows 7 32 bit with a valid Microsoft COA and product key to install Windows 7.

If you have not already done so, please create your personal set of discs of HP recovery at this time.

You must use the version of BIOS F.24 before the upgrade to Windows 7.

Here is the page of PC HP Mini 210-1041NR drivers for your computer. HP provides Windows XP and Windows 7 32-bit drivers for your computer.

  • Can I downgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows XP Professional

QUESTIONS: 1) can I demote a machine Win7 Starter purchased through package of retail full license, never installed, XP Pro OS?  Assume that both are 32-bit.  I was thinking of buying one of these netbooks cheap in Walmart stores that are Windows 7 upgrade option to Windows 8 (which I do not wish to use), and experiment.  If Win7 is proving to be as disastrous as I wait, I want to install a new copy of the new detail of full XP Pro including Service Pack 3 (which has never been installed on any computer), to downgrade from Windows 7. I've never used in triplicate.
The machine is Acer Aspire One with Windows 7 Starter edition, on sale at Walmart for only $228.  They have other editions of Windows, I could buy instead, if the Starter Edition is not eligible for a downgrade.
    2) do you anticipate problems of license?  Do not talk about compatibility, as that varies depending on the machine.  It's just that the installation with MS products is always also annoying complicated and always associated with a licensing problem.  I can't guess at what these problems are, they are never what I expect.  Where the question.
Backstory: I am wary of XP Professional updating to Windows 7, due to the many people experience incompatibilities.  I ran the Win7 Upgrade Advisor, and he has not yet detected what third-party software was running on my machine in his analysis, other than common programs of MS and stuff from the internet.  So I have ZERO faith it will be compatible with my XP software current and material, so 32-bit (which I use now), or 64-bit (which one of my machines can take in charge, but instead, 32-bit XP Prof OS is installed and running).
It cost me about $100K of my time to switch to XP, in 2005; I just went through two own XP installed on two of my other machines.  Recovery was not possible.  Cost me three months of my life, these facilities.  Wouldn't do it again.  It is unnecessarily complex.
So I have to check the effectiveness of Win7.  And if she is not enough justify using, as I hope - I have a lot of detail that new (well, once again) never used XP Professional OS bought in a store, that I can use to downgrade.  ("not OEM, not upgrade or academic, etc. so the full XP license is valid for each packet.)  I understand very well that support ends in April 2014 and don't care if it stops.  What I care about is running my business that threatens to Win7, because it changes the interface and eliminates a bunch of features that have been very productive in XP Pro.
Of course, my impressions have not been tested on a live installation.  ERGO this post.  For me, it's a $100,000 decision, because it is the cost of my time if I deploy Win7.  Sorry for ranting, but I need to explain the reasons for downgrading in context.  Thank you for your time!

I guess I do not understand you. If you have a version of Xp retail packaging, you can install it on any computer you want. Nothing MS or anyone else can say about it.

As others have noted you might encounter a driver for some of your hardware problem is not not compatible wth Xp. The only way to know for sure, or I should say the best way, is to install Xp and discover.

If it was me I would make sure that the computer has a restore disk or a partition to reinstall Win 7 if Xp didn't work. If none of those who were present I would clone the drive hard while Win 7 was still about this. Better safe than sorry.

Finally, I would make sure that I got a usb Ethernet card so that you could make sure you have the ability to connect when the net card driver was not installed with Xp...

    Hi maryellenbailey,

    1. where you downloaded the files from Windows 7?

    2. What is the file format of the Windows 7 files that you downloaded?

    3. what proposals followed?

There is no way valid update from Windows XP to Windows 7.

If you have important data on your computer, you can take a backup of the data in any external device. Subsequently, perform a custom installation of Windows 7.

  • Try to use the System Image to migrate from Windows 7 for SSD for boot upward

    Hello

I have a new computer Windows 7 operting.   I'm trying to migrate my OS to SSD for faster boots, etc..

I first tried various 3rd party applications such as EaseUS Partition Master and Reflect, all futile for unknown reasons.

Now I'm having problems using the built-in tool "Create a System Image" Windows 7.

The Image of the system seems to be created properly and is listed in the appropriate folder.   The next step is to use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to save the ISO file, then use this ISO on the DSS file.

Unfortunately, despite all that I've read to the contrary, the file created by windows wasn't an ISO... it saved as a VHD file.   The download tool cannot copy VHD - only ISOs.

Microsoft technical support suggested that I have post the question.   All the patches?

    Thanks in advance!

What happens when you boot the system repair disc?  If necessary, you will need to enter your BIOS Setup utility and make your optical drive the first boot device.

You have created the system image includes everything: the files of your operating system, your application to the program folder and your data.  Assuming that you have already used your system for awhile and so Windows, your installed programs and files total user more than 128 GB, the image does not fit on the SSD.

If everything except your totals of less than 128 GB user files, then a possible scenario would be to backup all your files from user to some external medium data, confirm that the backup is valid, and then delete the files from the current hard drive.  Then make an image of system of what's left (which is now less than 128 GB) and restore that image on the SSD.  You create a new user profile and then copy your files from backup data on disk 1 to and link to your user profile in the user data (see tip below).

Another alternative, especially if you have more than 128 GB used even without your data, is to do a clean Windows 7 on SSD install, reinstall all your application files, specifying as much as possible of the facilities is located on the 1 TB drive and your profile link to the data of the user on the 1 TB drive.

This trick of sevenforums.com can help with the problem of having windows on the SSD and your data on the disk rotation:

If you are simply wanting to save files HARD disk space in your user folders, you might consider this below in order to access the files in your library with the actually located files where you want to place. This way you won't have to worry about the potential problems that come with mobile user folder locations.

To do a clean install of Windows 7 on your SSD, follow the instructions here to get a file ISO of Windows 7 to the same version of Windows 7 that is preinstalled on your computer: https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-and-office-iso-download-tool burn the image on a DVD (Note: you can not just copy the files, use the built-in tool to burn dvd of Windows 7 or free third-party tool like ImgBurn).  Use the product key from the label on your computer (not the key retrieved by using a key finder program) to activate Windows.  See https://techingiteasy.wordpress.com/2012/04/13/how-to-activate-windows-7-oem-license-using-a-retail-disc/

If this all sounds complicated - it is, and I haven't provided all the details - you can consider getting the help of a local independent computer repair shop (not a chain of stores).  Just make sure you get a real installation of Windows 7.

  • Windows could not get a list of devices from Windows Update. Try again later

Original title: Windows 7 list printers cannot be updated
I installed a windows 32 bit 7 OS several weeks ago on my workstation Futitsu-Siemens and followed the instructions on the HP Wizard to try to install the HP Deskjet 990c printer driver for my HP 6122 printer. According to the HP Wizard, the only way to do is to update the list of printers by clicking on the "Windows Update" button in the dialog "add a printer".  I clicked on this button several dozen times in recent weeks, and every time I get the message "Windows could not get a list of devices from Windows Update. Try again later.

I installed a windows 32 bit 7 BONES of several months on my HP laptop and the printer list updated without a hitch to include many more HP printers that are on my computer Futitsu-Siemens including HP 990c.

    What should I do?

Here's what I found my system which is an Z210 64 HP running windows7. I just updated my Bios to v1.35

What I did to get the update to work once and what I have to do each time to add another printer by using the Update window.

    1. open (Ctrl-Alt-Del) Task Manager

    2. click on tab of abuse, then Services button (bottom-right)

    3. under the name to find "Windows Update".

    4. right click "Windows Update" and select stop. do not close

    5. open the Exploper window and browse to C:\Windows

    6 delete the folder "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution".

    7. go back to served, right click on "Windows Update", and then select start

Now the "Windows Update" button should work. For me I have to do every time I have to install a printer that requires me to use windows update

Looking for what casues the error

at the bottom of a file named WindowUpdate.log located in C:\Windows after that I get the message "Windows was unabel to...» "I have this text below.

  • I received a call today from someone who claims to be from windows

    Hello

my antivirus expired a few days ago and since my pc has been slow and does not start on a number of occasions so update internet security was already a priority, but today I got a call to the United Kingdom from a woman who sounded Asian. My phone reception was poor and I could barely hear what she was saying half the time, but she said he was calling from windows and said that my PC is downloading from several viruses that have access to my personal data and sending it. She told me to turn on my pc so that she could show me where to lay the problem and how to solve it, she said also that I had been sent a message windows or a warning. I told her 3 or 4 times that I had not had my laptop available, claiming that it was in my car of partners before the message finally seemed to sink, she asked what would be the right time to call me back and I said after 18:00 Fortunately, I am familiar with remote access facilities and became suspicious immediately when told she was calling from windows and therefore , I'm not going to follow other instructions later today it must call back - surprisingly seems to have no message or alerts Windows as she claimed - I just hope that others are on their guard against scams like this.
    Thank you
    Kay

Fake phone calls to technical support

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-GB/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

  • Upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and can't read the activation code

I installed PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 my sister with the software, that I bought at Best Buy. The product key for activation is very small and many of the numbers/characters may be different than what I read as. I tried several variants without success. Automatic activation work well? I am not at my sister this last week and won't leave his PC in limbo. What should I do? Thanks for any help!

  • Have I been scammed? -Received a call from Windows saying pirates were trying to get access to my computer

I just got a call from windows saying pirates were trying to get access to my computer and asked me to go to the run menu and type eventvwr and go to security and count the red Xs and yellow triangles, after that I said I was under 18, they told me to wait for their phone call.  They also said that they were in England in the Department in charge of piracy (not the exact words), I was wondering if it was a scam because (don't not to sound racists but) they sounded to the East Indies and I read on some other getting calls of the people of the East Indies and it didn't sound like a normal call center because there was a lot of noise in the background it all seemed a bit suspicious to me.

Fake phone calls to technical support

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .

Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.
