Validity of win7 Pro COA

I bought a refurbished 990 Optiplex Dell computer with Win7 Pro installed however the COST on the system was for Win7 ultimate Home.  I contacted the repairman, and they said they would send another COA for Win7 Pro.  I'm still waiting for that to happen.

My question is how to determine if the certificate of authenticity that they send me allow me to re - install Win7 Pro on this machine if I need at least the (hardware failure, etc.)?  I could do a complete reinstall using this COA but I was expecting a faster method.

Good ideas out there?

What do you mean by How to determine if the certificate of authenticity that they send me allow me to re - install Win7 Pro?

If the COA shows Windows 7 Professional, it is intended for Windows 7 Professional.

You can simply update the product key on the COA:

Press Windows key + R

Type: slui.exe 3

Press enter

Enter the product key and click next to activate via the Internet.

Case of hardware failure, more precisely, the card mother, you will need a new license, OEM licenses are not transferable to a new motherboard.

You should also ask them to send you a recovery in case of failure of the hard drive media or create an image backup of system safety precaution you can restore on a new hard drive:

Hi, I recently formatted my HD and clean installed with an older version of Win7 Pro SP1 x 64 OS, I more than a week now looking online for help, but nothing is. Windows Update appears to hang "search for updates". I don't presume that my Pc is virus free because of a clean install, so I'm not sure that Microsoft stopped providing updates for older versions of windows or not. I also tried to upgrade to OS 64-bit win10 everything works fine with the installation until it reaches "search for updates" which also hangs and does not download updates, I tried Microsoft stand-alone install also but who doesn't either. I also tried running "Microsoft Genuine Diagnostics Tool" results are lower. I also tried to reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on the Microsoft Web site and found a windows "0x80070005" error code also known as "access denied." Something to do with registry permissions I think. A boot minimum, then run the Microsoft fixit would fix the issue im having with windows update.

  • Interoperability of OEM license? Win7 Pro vs built-in Win7

Every year I buy instrumentation include a licensed OEM Windows operating system.   Regular maintenance lab at my installation implies historically harddrive cloning to create identical machines for identical seasons when new provider driver/tools are available.

Until this year, our instruments of the seller have all come with the same OEM Win7 Pro, facilities so we have followed carefully what licenses went with what instruments, but were easily able to quickly deploy updates string tool by doing a manual installation & validation process 1 x and then 'cloning' around the laboratory to wear all the benches in accordance.

The most recent instruments, we bought provider now include OEM Win7 built-in instead of "Win7 pro" our concern is that now our current model of 'cloning' will not work, because we have a pool of # win7 pro licenses and a pool of win7 # Embedded licenses.

To all the instruments of the 'same' for the sake of cloning, us (very probably via OEM Embedded Win7, because the seller cannot provide Pro licenses) us fall under the aegis of the "downgrade rights"? Or do we need to negotiate with the seller to provide a reserve of specifically OEM Win7 Embedded licenses to assign to the laboratory & retired benches our set of OEM Win7 Pro files?

Upgrade to a later version of Windows is not an option because we want to stay with provider supported OS (es).

1 you will need to check the documentation of your purchase, including any contract enabling essential at the supplier.  They have obtained licenses for Windows embedded products they sold to you.

2 they should also provide you with the image of the system that you use for cloning for the new equipment operations.

3 your Win7 Pro existing licenses will continue to apply to the equipment they were first installed on.  As each piece of equipment is retired, his license dies because the OEM licenses are not transferable.

4 upgrade is not really relevant for users of Embedded licenses because the equipment provider, as the Subscriber license & hardware developer, would have to deal with these issues.

Your Windows 7 Embedded products will continue to receive updates until 2026.

You can examine these questions using the link above.

5 you will not be able to make all your instruments, the "same".  They are different.

  • LEXAR Jumpdrive V10 8 GB (among other brands) - are not accessible by Win7 Pro 64-bit

Strange that when unzipped, it load.  About 2 hours later, the light starts to blink all the time and has since been inaccessible (flashes rapidly).  The drive appears by name in the disk drives, with the letter 'F' portable devices and as a "mass storage device" in Device Manager USB controllers segments.

Unit also not always appears in the 'COMPUTER' (workstation) screen, the icon in the task bar appears immediately, but without the eject button (it appears once the "COMPUTER" icon is enabled).  All the controls properties prove "the device work properly", but when I try to open the camera, it shows "empty folder", although a check of the properties of the 'COMPUTER' screen indicates that the disk is full.  I always charge 800 MB of data of my XP (32 bit) machine with "unable to access to" on the Win7 one (NO problem reading/writing on the XP - I even re-not formatted the stick - nada).

I went through most of what I could find here on orders from USB thumb and spent four days trying various "patches" with no luck.  The idea that Win7 Pro might not be able to read the 32-bit files cannot be valid, as I have an OLD 256 MB stick loaded with files of 32 bits of my XP even machine with zero problems.

As in the title, the problem was not itself limited to the Lexar player, but also a SanDisk ULTRA 32 GB and a "Business" Intenso 8 GB - these two "worked" as described above.

All the drivers are up to date, all the "fix - its" have been tried (I was comfortable with)...

Why not Win7 like USB keys except my "small" one?  Seems to be a widespread problem.

    Pete

In my reply of 10 may, I noted that the problem has been alleviated/cured by unplugging the webcam.  There is a driver conflict that can be cured as soon as I update the BIOS and chip set drivers.

Essentially, the problem can be classified as "cured."

  • Win7 Pro with virtual XP

    Hello.

I have win7 Pro and downloaded Virtual PC and XP mode. This worked OK 1st time and then I had to recover the drive hard back to the value by default after losing the startup file. Since then, I can't XP to initialize. A text box appears after the configuration page of the password with the "the virtual machine configuration could not be created. User does not have sufficient access rights.

A .vhd file is then created in the virtual machine folder, but I can't get the program to run. At the register anything to do with this? I uninstalled XP mode and the Vitual PC update several times and they reloaded with nothing will do.

    Hello

Maybe your registry is confused until this topic very well, but is recommended to install the Virtual Machine Manager Configuration Analyzer 2007.
It is a diagnostic tool that verifies the configuration settings for your computer that are important to the performance of Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager.

I also found a page of Microsoft about installing and using Windows XP Mode in Windows 7

  • Satellite L550 PSLW8A can only get OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit to 64-bit?

    Hi all

    I am writing from Australia.

Two weeks ago, I bought a new laptop Toshiba ([http://tinyurl.com/ye6jkuq]) with the following characteristics:

    Model: Satellite L550
    Reference number: PSLW8A-01101F
    BIOS: V1.60
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P7450 2.13 GHz
    RAM: 4 GB
    HARD DRIVE: 500 GB
OS: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (OEM preinstalled)

    My question:
    How can I switch to Win7 Pro * 32 - bit * for Win7 Pro * 64 - bit *?

If I use the recovery disk (the hidden recovery partition) utility to do a clean reinstallation of Win7 Pro, I will give the choice during the process of resettlement of the installation either the 32-bit version or 64-bit?

Or I have + not + get the choice at all and simply be limited to the OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit that came pre-installed version?

All advice or information about how to pass OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit to Win7 Pro 64-bit would be appreciated.

    Nick

    Hello

AFAIK almost all new laptops are available with 32 and 64-bit OS and two recovery images are saved on the HARD drive.
When you start installation HARD drive you should see the option to choose which version must be installed.

Simply start the installation of HARD drive and you will see what menu you will see at the beginning. Not be afraid to do so. Nothing will happen.
Real OS installation starts two steps later. If you can not damage preinstalled OS.

  • HP Pavilion - 27qe touch everything-i: HP Pavilion - 27qe touchscreen all-in-one PC Downgrade of Win10 of Win7 Pro 64 bit

I ordered, from hp store-still in production, a HP Pavilion - 27qe touchscreen all-in-one.  There are 10 Windows.  I would come down to Win7 Pro 64-bit (I can buy a legal copy of win7 and do a clean install).  I understand that I would lose some features like the touch screen, but I really prefer Win7.  I'm looking for info on how to do this?  For example, where to find the proper drivers (determine which and where to download to), BIOS etc.  Drivers listed on hp for this computer are for Win10 only, there is no Win7 drivers listed.  Of course I'd first recovery disks Win10, where I always want to go to the Win10 or if Win7 is not working properly.

Any info/help appreciated.  My wife and I share one our computer at home with Win7 on it.  Me, my wife and probably would be better to use Win7 we are used and as.

    Thank you...

Thanks for the info WAWood.  I decided to nix the idea of decommissioning.  It would be too complicated, as you point out.  Have a good!

  • 750 - 247c envy: wiped my HDD of withdrawal Win10, no boot or partition sector, no mouse or KB install Win7 Pro

I just bought a 750-247c with Win10 desire. Not like that OS, I tried to remove it, couldn't, so I wiped the drive, including partitions, recovery, everything. I then formatted the specification of Win7, no partitions, a 2T HARD drive, I did HD0 and the other 128G HD1, they have all both been wiped and reformatted. I changed the boot sequence to boot from the CD first, active from legacy devices. I understand that installing a new OS to relocate a boot located, etc.

With a newly purchased Win7 Pro disc, the machine will boot from the CD, open the language, the time format and the currency, the small keyboard, but I don't have a keyboard mouse to make a selection to continue the installation. Mouse and KB are USB devices and ports are all enabled.

I've tried everything I know to get this thing up and ongoing delivery, I am relatively computer warned having started several years ato with a Commodore 64 and tons of repair of computers and the configuration in the past. This thing baffled me and I need to turn it on.

    Thanks for the support!

Normally the plastic in the middle of the port part is blue, in comparison to the other USB ports, and those which are marked with SS go USB 3.0.

The SS is supposed to indicate high speed (super). A port with a lightning bolt in the symbol will be a USB high power, suitable for charging USB devices.

    I hope this helps.

  • Win7 PRO can't find PCI Simple Comunication Controller driver

    HP Compaq computer, 7700

    Win7 pro 32-bit

Device Manager displays error in the installation of the Simple PCI communications controller. Repeat the Installation can't find driver. Computer works very well with the error in Device Manager. What need the controller device?

    OK... try this one then.

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3459241&prodNameId=3459245&swEnvOID=4053&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=vc-78668-1

If for any reason any that does not work, try to manually install the one I posted above.

If you deleted it, run it again and then click on your PCI device needing driver. Click on the driver tab, click on set to update driver. Select the 'Browse my computer for software' and navigate to the installation folder that was created when you ran the file.  This file is located in C:\SWSetup\sp34743. Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and I hope that the driver will be installed.

I posted this driver for others on the Forum of Business Support for their dc7700 so I know that it must work.  Here's the thread. You can try some of the other drivers too.

  • HP Probook 440 G3: Problem installing Win7 Pro on Probook 440 G3 - drivers not found

The product was delivered with Win 10 installed but I need to run Win7 Pro.

I photographed the disk before working on it and can restore to Win 10 without problem.

However, when you start the process with a USB or DVD, I am able to choose the country, then be able to click on 'Install now', but I am then asked the drivers for the USB or CD/DVD drive. I downloaded them from the HP site but installation will not find them when searched.

I'm very frustrated and need to get Windows 7 installed... How to repair the unit to 'see' the drivers can be installed in order to continue the installation?

    Hello:

Microsoft Windows 7 installation media is not the native USB 3.0 drivers.

Therefore, add USB 3.0 drivers in Windows installation flash drive.

Intel has on it.  They have a utility that does all the work for you.

Follow the instructions in the Readme link to make a bootable USB flash drive to your windows installation DVD.

    ndows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/download/25476/Wi

Run it, and then tap your Installation USB Windows Media, and Windows 7 should install.

  • Failure of KB974431 update with 8007000D on a clean install of Win7 Pro 64-bit

    Hi all

I just finished a clean install of Win7 pro 64 bit and everything looks on with the activated product key.  I'm applying 50 some important updated via update, but I have one that fails each time, KB974431.

According to this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/27737d55-9c10-44b5-b701-6ba147c78364, another person having this problem had luck manually download and install the update.  But it did not work for me (I created a new thread because his son was in the installation forum).

KB94431 was also causing problems for people who concoct a C004F050 error as in this thread:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/ff57f326-0f1d-412c-a4d0-14de1eaf0836/ although I didn't have this error, I tried running sfc/SCANNOW and he did report that he "finds corrupted files but could not solve some of them."  I don't really know what I should look for in the CBS.  By suggestion of the thread, I installed 64-bit Windows Update Agent and Windows Update is represented nothing doesn't.

I think I have a corrupted file update is already downloaded that Windows is trying to use each time and it fails.   They seem to live in files Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and Windows\Servicing\Packages.  Although I can change the permissions to delete the file in Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (and I've tried it without change of failure), access is denied whenever I try to touch the Windows\Servicing\Packages or its content.

The only installed software were the latest EVGA nforce and drivers for video card, Norton Security Suite and the SoundBlaster last for my sound card driver.

    Any suggestions?

OK, start at the stop of the snap-snap-in services.msc WindowsUpdate service and rename the folder C: \Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution_old\ restart the service. Now look again for updates. You are now able to install.

  • IE seems to be locking up my normally stable Win7 Pro.

I've been running Win7 Pro for a week.  Its been pretty easy & much faster than XP.  I did a full install on a hard drive again instead of an update.  Last night, I added a gadget (Vista clock Radio) and was www.COtrip.org (since the pass was closed last night) using IE.  The computer is locked until this morning (keyboard & mouse were unresponsive).  I had to do a hard power & light.  When I returned to www.cotrip.org, I blocked twice more.  I was installing my email & mobile alerts when this happened this morning, but not last night.

I tried to install an update from windows a minute ago & it failed.  This is a first for me on Win7.  The update was a Broadcom Bluetooth driver for my thinkpad.  The failure code is 800F020B.  Unknown if this is related, but seems a coincidence.

I am running the latest version of Norton AV...

    This gives a whirlwind:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall NAV, LiveUpdate and all Norton Add ons via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #8 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

6 very briefly and very carefully, see if IE8 works better now. [1]

7 do a clean install of NAV 2010 using your product ID & reboot: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

TIP: Do not activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    8. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate until you get a prompt "no update more".

    9 test.

    ==================
[1] or download/install/update, for example, Microsoft Security Essentials (at least temporarily) as a comparison test. Thereafter, be sure to uninstall it, and then do the steps #7 and #8 above.
