Validity of Windows to upgrade to WMP

Bought XP Prof from Dell on laptop for several years; no problems; all updates done.  Recently opened WMP; upgrade to v.11 offered tried and said that my XP is not a version valid.  Impossible to get WMP to open without the Update window... help!

Hello

·        What is the exact error that you are experiencing?

I suggest you to check if the operating system installed on the system is authentic. Run the WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) tool on the system and check if the operating system is valid or not. You must upload it to the system and then run it on the system to search for if product keys are genuine or not. Check the items listed below.

Description of Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA)

  • Windows anytime upgrade, the product key is not valid

My laptop is with pre installed Windows7 professional edition, and I have a new product key WAU (Home premium-> NEC) in hand. When I tried this product key in the Express Windows upgrade process, I received a message "product key is not valid.

Is the installed version must be exactly the same with the WAU product key pack? I think of my installed Professional is an advanced version of Home Premium. Why not the product key be compatible?

  • Windows Anytime Upgrade product key not / not valid

I have a brand new laptop Asus pre-loaded with Windows 7 Starter (the national retail chain bought) and also bought Windows Anytime Upgrade (always from a national chain). Both must therefore be produced authentic.

I spent two days trying to upgrade to Premium; ten minutes after the operation, I was told that it didn't (several attempts). On advice found on the MS Community tried to turn off my antivirus, downloaded the fix CheckSUR, disabled User Account Control, check the hard disk for errors and hidden/disabled MS Services on selective startup. I already have SP1.
All I get now is a message that the product key is not valid (it has not been previously, and I did not). I tried restore and then re - run the Windows updates above, etc., but still the product key is "invalid" and I can't go any further (without option to continue without a valid key).
I have never had the real issues of Windows before I couldn't fix, this completely defeated me - ideas? Thanks in advance...

You could try to reset it to factory State, and then try the Express upgrade.

  • Windows 7 Upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit (valid key)

I have an old computer upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 32 bit, using a Windows 7 upgrade CD long ago. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit using a clean install from a Windows 7 OEM disc I used on another computer, I built. Can I activate the new installation of Windows 7 on the old computer from the OEM disk using the key from the old drive to upgrade to Windows 7 or y at - it another way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit in this case? Thanks for the help.

How to: perform a customized Windows installation

Be careful, this other computer recovery disk may be only for use with the computer, with which he came. In addition, the edition must match the product key you plan to install, if they don't, it won't work.

If its a version of upgrade / full license or OEM System Builder detail disk then you can use it.

Keep in mind, the editions must match.

  • Pavilion p6120sc: Vista to Windows 7 upgrade: how to find the necessary drivers, etc.

Cheap HP Experts, the Vista operating system in my Pavilion p6120sc must be upgraded to Windows 7. The compatibility test of Microsoft said that the current driver for my NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet is not valid in Windows 7. Therefore, I was advised to download the latest driver for this device in advance; but its installation should only be performed after the installation of Windows 7.

Problem 1: what is the right driver for NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (i.e., valid in Windows 7), and where can I download safely to (without viruses etc.)?  -J' did an extensive search on Google but couldn't find an answer I could understand.

Problem 2: The compatibility test also advised me to Uninstall Hardvarudiagnostikverktyg version 5.1.5144.16 (PC-Doctor, Inc.) before upgrading the computer to Windows 7. However, I couldn't find such a program in my PC! Therefore, How can I uninstall it properly? (Is this program might somehow hidden in the HP service package that performs the Test of full operation of my PC once a month? Moreover, would the HP package function test no more if this particular program have been eliminated?)

    You are the very welcome.

You must install this driver before chipset update to W7, if you do an upgrade "in place", because the driver is good for W7 and Vista.

If you make an own (custom) upgrade (not to keep all programs, files or settings), then you must install this driver after you upgrade to W7.

All this driver will do is update the drivers for the motherboard and ethernet (the devices listed in the driver file page).

Driver Ethernet (v73.14 +) tools for network management (v73.16) "Sedona" SATA IDE Driver (v11.1.0.33) WHQL SATA RAID Driver (v11.1.0.33) WHQL RAIDTOOL Application (v11.1.0.30) pilot SMBUS (v4.74) WHQL SMU (v1.71) driver driver WHQL of GPU (v190.38) Physx (v9.09.0428) WHQL Away Mode Driver (v6.0.6000.114) WHQL Installer (v7.57) WHQL.

  • Qosmio X 300 - 15U - key product for Windows 7 upgrade disc

    Hi all
    first post here :)

I have a Qosmio X 300 15U and just bought DVD update for the operating system: to Vista64 for Windows 7 (home premium).
I got it by Toshiba Windows 7 upgrade site.

I installed the upgrade and it works fine, so far.
Only possible problem for the future, is that I can't find product key label Windows 7 attached to the case of paper (probably lost) DVD
I have the DVD (for other series, almost...)

Anyone know if it is possible to make the Toshiba support, send my old Windows 7 key product or a new (only in the case of reinstall...)
It also appears that Microsoft has validated my install via their tool (WGA, I think)
I have to go back to using MS (paid), for such a (simple, for me) case?
    Hope not.

    Thank you very much.

    Bye,.

    Diego

I don't know if Toshiba can send you a new label productkey, you must call the assistance service. But to find your product, you need a key research tool.
Try [link: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/productkeysactivation/tp/topkeyfinder.htm] for a list of these programs.

  • Cannot download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

I can't download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. Everytime I try it says "Connection interrupted", but there is nothing wrong with my connection. I had the same problem when I bought a Zune and tried to download the software necessary to run it (I had to go back because I never solved the problem) now I think, I never seem to be able to download anything from Microsoft, but I don't have an active version of Windows Vista with the valid product key.

What should I do to fix this? I will pass a 32-bit version of Vista to a 64 bit 7 as soon as get the boot disk (I have to wait for the boot disk, right?...) and I want to get things ready. Thank you.

  • Network adapters: Microsoft Windows Mobile remote adapter causes the Windows 7 upgrade to fail.

Network adapters: Microsoft Windows Mobile remote adapter causes the Windows 7 upgrade to fail.

I did everything to prepare for the upgrade. The Upgrade Advisor says it all right. But I get the message that this network adapter is a problem. It does not appear in device menager even under hidden objects, so I can't uninstall or update.

It is obviously a problem for more than two years. Why is there not a difficulty now, or at least a well validated response that meets this situation rather than simply repeat the statement to execute the Advisor (done) or update the driver (which is impossible because the card network can not be found)?

    Hello

    You can try these:

    Step 1:

    a. click the Start button.

    (b) in the search box type devmgmt.msc and then press ENTER.

    c. find under the "Mobile Devices" "Microsoft USB Sync" node. If this is not present, proceed to the next step. Otherwise, right click "Microsoft USB Sync" and choose "Uninstall".

When you connect your USB phone, it should appear in the device under Mobile Device Manager. Education invites you to look out there and if you find Microsoft USB Sync, uninstall it. If she is not there, go to the next step.

    Step 2:

Disconnect, and then reconnect your device. Your device driver will be re - install and launch Windows Mobile Device Center.

  • Can I sell my copy of Windows 7 (upgrade)?

My computer came with Vista, so I bought an upgrade to Windows 7. This is a copy of purchased retail Newegg. But my computer is completely dead, is there a way I can return or cancel my license so I can sell my copy of the upgrade on Ebay or elsewhere?

My new computer is already comes with Windows 7 install, so I don't really need the disks to upgrade.

    How can I do? How?

Edit: For the record, I can't access the old computer, it is quite dead.

The thing is that I am using the new version for about a year (it has been validated), but my computer is dead and it's not as if I can return the license or delete from my hard drive. I want to know that if I sell it, the buyer will be able to post because I'm not on the upgrade and I have no use for him.

In fact a retail upgrade license can be transferred to another computer so so it can be sold and activated on another computer, as long as there is a qualification of operating system already installed and activated legally on the new computer.  Detail improvements are exactly that and are not OEM or at all time options that are restricted are related in that they are installed on the original computer.

Upgrade Vista license policy (don't have Win 7 in front of me right now, but it seems the same or very similar):

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, that this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

    16. PROOF OF LICENSE.  ...

    17 REASSIGN TO ANOTHER DEVICE.

    a. software other than Windows Anytime Upgrade. You can uninstall the software and install it on another device for your use. You are unable to share this license between devices.

    b. Windows Anytime Upgrade software. The first user of the software may reassign the license to another device, but only if the terms of the software license you upgraded allows reallocation.

    18. TRANSFER TO A THIRD PARTY.

    a. software other than Windows Anytime Upgrade. The first user of the software may make a transfer time of the software and this agreement, directly to a third party. The first user must uninstall the software before transferring the unit separately. The first user can keep no copies.

    b. Windows Anytime Upgrade software. You can transfer the software directly to a not third parties only with the device under license. You can't keep all copies of the software or any earlier version.

    c. other requirements. Before any transfer authorized, the other party must accept that this agreement applies to the transfer and use of the software. The transfer must include proof of license. "

  • try to rerun the windows Express Upgrade: 'invalid key '.

I wanted to spend Win7 Pro 64-bit to Win7 Ultimate 64 - bit.  I didn't want to do the upgrade on my main hard drive without experimentation, so I cloned the disc scratching and applied the upgrade successfully.

then I reinstalled my main HD and tried to perform the upgrade.  When I entered my key Ultimate, he said that the key was invalid.

Windows anytime upgrade is a one-time problem by key, or is there a workaround?

    Thank you

    Ken

You guarantee that Windows 7 Professional has been activated prior to perform the Express upgrade?
