  This is due to host on the vCenter server entries. Please try the procedure below

  Connect to the vCenter server, edit the/drivers/etc/hosts file in Notepad

  C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

  Note: If a line does not exist in the hosts file, add it at the end of the text.

  First, centos is not a certified platform. Suggesttion so first use a certified as OEL platform that can be downloaded from the e-delivery site freely. Second suggestion while you make the post please mention exact os and db version.

  We did an upgrade from 11.5.9 to 12.0.6 on TEST. We did the DB Upgrade separately (IE - not as part of the installation). So we have the original home of 10.2 oracle 11i, as well as the 10.2 oracle which was supplied with installation. That is the question:
  
  (1) is question that Oracle Home is used (assuming that both are at the same level of the Group of hotfixes? Will be the future implications if the House of 10.2 oracle 11i is used?
  
  (2) if we use the 11i 10.2 Oracle Home, how we move to another Oracle Home (one that provided installation 12 version)-is this part of the performance of the appsutil.zip?   So yes it is possible.  But I recommend cool vCenter from a facility.  Either by moving your hosts on manually recreate your pools of files/resources etc, either using a script PowerCLI.  This way you will not end up with a bribery scheme.

• Database upgrade fails with Oracle 10.2.0.4 4.0 to 4.1

  Hi all!

  Because we must go 32-bit operating system to 64-bit for the new vcenter Server, I did a complete reinstall of the server today (keeping the database) and went from 2003 SP2 to Windows 2008 R2 x 64. On it is installed the Oracle 64-bit 10.2.0.4, with the 10.2.0.4 client client ODBC (checked as 64-bit, even though she is curiously named sqora32.dll).

  The problem is that the database never upgrade when I try to install vCenter Server 4.1, ends with an 'Exception that is thrown during the execution of sql script. Check the log file, I see that it is process_temptable0_proc_oracle.sql that is causing the error, and when I open the procedure in Oracle enterprise manager, I see that the error is "ORA-12704: incompatibility of character." Given that the database resides on a separate cluster, the old character set is instact. The NLS_LANG to the vCenter server is defined on the same one (corresponding to the database).

  Anyone got any ideas how to proceed from here?

  Since it's CARS, you must first put the grid Infrastructure. Install IM 11.2.0.4 in a new home and have to do the upgrade at the same time. Once the GI is upgraded, you can then install 11.2.0.4 RDBMS as a CAR-install software into a new home. Then call the new home DBUA to upgrade db.

  It sounds simple when its put in this way, but each update needs sufficient tests. I also have a minimum span of two weeks, between IM and database updates.

  Yes, if you are using vSphere 6 key then you will need to use 6 ESXi and vCenter 6.

  don't know if you can get the license keys for 5.5 from your VMware account where the license is attached. You can give a try.

  ESXi update is easy process. It requires unavailability of ESXi host and the virtual machines if you use no shared storage.

  I upgraded 11.1.2.2 to 11.1.2.3 hyperion (Maintenance release apply). When you make the configuration only the "configure oracle configuration Manager" is get broken under Foundation Hyperion.

  I looked in the configtool.log (oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\config) and the failure message is only registered as

  Error connecting to the server.

  Can someone help me solve this problem.

  Now, I want to upgrade a database in 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.2.

  In this case can I apply the set of patches on 10.2.0.1 and then go for upgrade of database using catupgrd.sql

  OR

  I just need to change the ORACLE_HOME in the env variable so that the 10.2.0.1 database will point to 10.2.0.2 HOME and then I can start the

  upgrade using catupgrd.sql.

  You can do either.

  The obvious advatage of the use of 10.2 existing House, is that:

  (1) you don't need to waste time upgrading10.1 to 10.2 when the 10.2 already exists

  (2) If you need to restore the 10.1 House is already there if not you will need to create a backup for this.
