vCenter 4.1 upgrade questions

Hi all

I have a few questions about the 4.1 upgrade vCenter I know someone out there can answer. Our environment is vCentre 4.0 on 32-bit Windows 2003 Server physical and we hope him virtualize vCentre 4.1 on Windows 2008 64 bit. Databases (VC and VUM) are located on clustered SQL servers.

1. What is the impact to use a new server name and IP address to migrate VC4.1 to? According to this article and the comment below, VMware recommend that you use the same name and intellectual property.

http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1022137

Update the configuration files if you re changing IP address or host name of your vCenter server information. You must manually change the configuration files.

Note: VMware recommends to keep the same IP address and host name information to facilitate the migration.

2 use the DataMigration to get the current configuration of the vCentre, i.e. Pools of resources, reservations, limitations, dvSwitch, blah blah, the new server? If not, then it smells a lot migration as an upgrade...

Ideally, I would like to keep the physical server around as an option to restore if necessary.

Anyone got any ideas on that?

See you soon

> Data bases (VC and VUM) are located on clustered SQL servers.

So, not really a problem.

(1) make backup DB

(2) services of vCenter stop, set it to "manual start".

(3) backup SSL keys

(4) remove the server vCenter in the field

5) stop vcenter server

(7) make clean install Windows 64 bits on the new server, use the same IP address and name in which case the old server vCenter

(8) restore SSL keys from a backup

(9) make 2 connections, ODBC, 64 bit for vCenter and 32 bit for MUV

(10) install vCenter, point to existing database

You old vCenter as a restoration, but you need to restore the old DB sauvegardΘ first vCenter.

  • vCenter 5.1 to 5.5 upgrade question

It is perhaps a silly question, but dvSwitches makes me nervous. In my test vCenter 5.5 environment, when I update an esxi 5.1 to 5.5, I improve something related to dvSwitches on the host itself. I don't know if it caused no disruption or not, since I had no VM on this host.

Assuming for the moment, vCenter is upgraded to 5.5 and my esxi hosts are always in 5.1, will I run into any downtime upgrades vCenter?

Upgrade of a distributed switch is an operation without interruption: upgrade a vSphere Distributed Switch to a Version later than with the Web Client vSphere

You can upgrade your vCenter to 5.5 without impact to your 5.1 ESXi hosts.

  • VMware Vcenter 5 upgrade Questions

Right now I have Esxi and Vmware Vcenter from version 4 to version 5.  A few questions:

    1. What is the easier and more average ordering to perform these upgrades?

2 should I have Vcenter loaded on a physical host, or is that to make a virtual machine?  I currently have it as a virtual machine, but think it might be a problem that he won't be available for upgrades of the host on which the Vcenter VM is on.

    1. What is the easier and more average ordering to perform these upgrades?

Make a backup of your DB vCenter, proceed with the installation of vCenter5.  Then, you can use VMware Update Manager to upgrade your ESXi hosts.  However, I would choose to do a reconstruction of working capital. vSphere5 is a major release.

  • vCenter 5 upgrade question

We have all the guests of ESXi 4.1 U2 and just got a new host ESXi 5. Now, we put our vCenter Server 5.0 to be able to access the host ESXi 5.0.

I don't know if we spend our vCenter server to 5.0 who it will be backwards compatible and will be able to manage ESXi 4.1 guests but are there negative side effects or what should I do before upgrading vCenter? And is it just a place in upgrade as if I were starting 4.1 U1 U2 for example?

  • Nexus 1000 - vCenter 5.5 upgrade to 6.0 - official steps?

I tried to find appropriate measures to upgrade to vCenter 5.5 to 6.0, but so far have not found a good guide.

We are already in N1KV 5.2 (1) SV3 (1.5 b) due to security bugs, but now we need to plan the upgrade to vCenter 6.0

    Here is my plan:

1 put level vCenter and VUM - is there a necessary step to reconnect N1K SVS to vCenter after the upgrade?

    2 uninstall ESXI 5.5 VEM

    3 upgrade ESXi to 6.0

    4. install VEM

Does this sound correct?  Or y at - it a document that talks about this?

I looked at the utility to upgrade to http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/Website/datacenter/nexus1000/up...

However, it assumes you are a N1K upgrade while upgrading vcenter.

We only make the upgrade to vCenter.

I have an upgrade question. I received a notification when I connected my computer to the internet that Lightroom 5.7.1 was available had merge to HDR & Panoramic photos. I can't find these. Where can I find them.

It is unfortunate that Adobe has chosen to use the "update" in the notice inside LR 5. It is not an "update". It is an 'upgrade '. Thus, you pay if you want. Also as usual, Adobe directs clients to the CC solution and makes it hard to find perpetual license option.

  • Upgrad question, vCenter Server 4.0 Update 1

    Hi all:

This is my first post, and it's really stupid!  HI HI!

I look at my Server vCenter.  In the help about it says: I'm on the #208111 build.  But apparently the update 1 build # is: 208156 build?

When I download the ISO for the full install of update 1, it says I have to remove my vCenter continuous server rather than upgrade offer.  I found the Patch 1 file that says she is replaced by installing already on the server.

    What I am doing wrong?

you are in the correct version for vCenter4 U2.  The other version number you see includes all modules

VMware vCenter Server 4 and modules

  • Post 5.3 upgrade questions

    Hello

I'm planning and uprade to View 5.1.3 to view 5.3. I have a test environment that has a Vcenter and a login server while my prod configuration has vcenters active 2 and 3 connection brokers. I'm going to test first level to get the sensation but unfortunelty my ins' configuration prod t equal to my test setup which raises a few questions.

    1. If I upgrade the composer in the first window of maint but let see 5.1.3 composer will resume function when the two vcenters are upgraded?

2 when I read the vmware upgrade doc, it seems that once you start the upgrade all servers connection making the env unsusable view to end-users. Is this correct? Is there a way to keep advice works for users, while I upgrade the servers of connections?

1: the upgrade just composer on the vCenter boxes or make some type vCenter also put you?

2: there is no way I know.   The best practice is to stop all services display for each CB in a replica group when upgrading.

  • Post Vcenter 5.0 upgrade installation of SQL

We are looking to perform a new installation of Vcenter Server 5.0.  Now we have only 3 guests and a few VM so we will install SQL 2008 Express to us operational.  Our question is weather or not, it is possible to upgrade SQL after installation.  We are looking at a few options as SQL goes, but we will probably install an instance on a separate hardware and pointing the Vcenter on this one.  We want to just make sure that this is possible.

Yes, you can detach the database and then move elsewhere, or take a backup copy of the database and restore it elsewhere. Then, point the ODBC connection in vCenter for the new home of the database.

    See you soon.

  • El Capitan 10.11.4(5 & 6) upgrade question

I have an iMac 2010 (3.2 Ghz Intel Core i3, 4 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3, 1 TB HDD - 485 GB free) that runs quite happily El Capitan 10.11.3

Unfortunately, trying to upgrade to 10.11.4 gave me the white screen of death white.  No hassle, time machine backup, don't try again, no question of devices attached, even.

Waited for the release of 10.11.5 and 10.11.6 and have the same problem again.  Equipment of diagnosis showed no problems and has even downgrading to 10.11.3 and 10.11.2 and update go here has not solved the problem.

Has anyone struck this problem and solved?

  • Satellite Pro A100-830 - HDD upgrade questions

I'm a complete noob so please forgive my silly question!

I would like to replace my laptop HARD drive, is there any combatibilty issues I should be aware of, or is it just a case of getting a HARD drive 2.5 "?

Is it easy to buy an external and use the internal drive inside the case?

This seems to be the best way to the value of doing. Specific recommendations?
    Thank you!

    Hi magicmat,

Generally upgrade the HARD drive is not complicated, and that's why you only have to remove the cover of the HARD drive on the lower side of your laptop to replace the HARD drive.

Satellite Pro A100 already use hard disks with SATA interface so you have such a HARD drive. In addition, I would recommend a 5400 RPM model because it s quite fast and doesn t a lot of power.

So that s what you need to know about upgrading. Theoretically, you can use the old or an external HDD with an external HARD drive enclosure. Also no problem. :)

  • Tecra M7 memory upgrade question

Hello everyone, I would like to upgrade the RAM on my Tecra M7, which came with 1 GB and is supposed to get a free site available. Since the system's maximum memory is 4 GB, I guess you can use up to 2GB stick into each slot.

My question is: can I have a 1 + 2 GB configuration (with / 3GB in total) or modules should be combined for better performance (1 + 1 GB) DDR2? I read somewhere something memory dual channel working only with identical memory modules, but I'm not an expert so I don't know?

    Any idea anyone?
    RADO

Of course, you can mix the sizes of memory. It s nothing unusual!
You can use different memory module sizes, but you should be 100% sure that both modules supports the same specifications as DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200)

    Hi all

I was wondering, I own a Satellite c855-s5133 and I want to upgrade my hardware to make it faster and more compatible with the new games and programs.

So the question is which is compatible with the model and what can I do to make my computer bettter.

P.s. I've already updated the 16 GB ram, and I really don't like if I'm more do.

    Thank you
    DOCTORMAN

    Hello

To be honest, you are very limited if it comes to upgrade the hardware of s for laptop.
You have already upgraded the RAM. That s OK.

You could also switch from the HDD to the SSD. This performance of the laptop from the read and write process would be much faster. Also the laptop would be faster start and would go a lot smoother.

But to be honest, for purposes of such game pass isn't very useful.

To get better game performance, you need a better graphics card, but the fact is that the GPU upgrade isn't possible.

  • Satellite P305D-S8900: CPU, RAM CIR upgrade question

    Hello

I have a few questions about the upgrade of my laptop.

    (1) can I upgrade the CPU, and if so what other CPU is availible.

    (2) can I put the memmory.

    (3) is it possible to install the CIR in this computer.

    Hello

First of all why do you want to upgrade the processor?
The P300 series is new and is supported by a powerful CPU. You won't see any performance gain after upgrading the CPU.

    > 1) can I upgrade the processor, and if so what other CPU is availible. (1) can I upgrade the CPU, and if so what other CPU is availible.
To do this, see this article from Toshiba
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

    (> 2) can I put the memmory.
This should be possible. In most cases, you can find the info in the user manual.
I think that 4 GB should be possible

(> 3) is possible to install the CIR in this computer.
Using the infrared interface? In this case, I recommend stick USB Irda.
It is easy to use and install.
