vCenter support 5.1/5.5

I have several Netware VMs. Netware is not supported in ESX 5.5.

If I run a cluster of ESX 5.1 BUT I managed with the help of a vCenter 5.5, I'm off support or not?

Thank you.

After several tries, I had success in the process of exchange of certificate VSA.

1 - the DNS configuration was wrong.

2 - certified should be the key (RSA private key format) published the .pem file must be trained using the service certificate + certificate of certification authorities.

Should the permissions SSO gives vCenter Assistant to support or be assigned permissions in vCenter by own vsphere.local domain of SSO should SSO assign through advertising identity source using a service account active directory?

    Hello

SA requires admin access to SSO so that it can implement all the permissions in vCenter (which the SSO administrator is a Director of vCenter normally), then it creates a user of vSA and uses within the SS and vCenter with appropriate permissions. It will not use the AD and probably should not use AD for this. I actually use SSO users for all my accounts of such vCenter service used by SA, vCops, Log Insight, etc, but I use AD related to SSO for all user accounts. Keeps the SSO accounts which is used as service accounts for the separate management of the AD, which means that if there are problems with the AD, I can still manage and use the virtualization system. I even create administrator accounts in SSO.

  • VMware vCenter Support Assistant for registration.

How can I make sure that I am registered to support assistance so that I can receive emails from technical suport VMware.

    Ahmed Salah

    Hello Ahmed,.
I don't know what you mean by "support assistance. Assume that you are referring to vCenter Assistant support.

To receive by e-mail monthly reports, you must do 2 things (as long as you have vCenter Assistant support installed and configured):

    1. Enable proactive Support
    2. Subscribe to send monthly reports.
      1. In a Web browser, log vCenter Unit Assistant support.
      2. On the details tab, enter your email address and click Save.

  • Can someone advise on RHEL 7 comments OS customization support in vCenter Version 6.0?

    Hello

I need to change the configuration of the NIC through customization of the guest operating system, but I have a problem using RHEL 7.0 guest os customization in vCenter Version 6.0 and 6.0 ESXi

Can someone advise on RHEL 7 comments customization OS support?

According to the customization Guest OS Support Matrix (http://partnerweb.vmware.com/programs/guestOS/guest-os-customization-matrix.pdf), Version 6.0 (6.0 ESXi) vCenter supports for customization of RHEL 7.0 guest os but it keeps showing error message as below

Error: customization of the guest operating system "rhel7_64Guest" is not supported in this configuration. Microsoft Vista (TM) and Linux guests with the logical volume Manager are supported only for the recent host ESX and VMware Tools versions. Refer to documentation vCenter for supported configurations.

    Concerning

Are installed and running VMware tools? If so, which version? And you use VM opened since RHEL repository tools or tools provided by VMware?

For customization of open tools for VM and Linux OS, you must make the package open-vm-tools-deploypkg installed, which is not part of the base open VM Tools:

Install the plug-in in a virtual machine Linux deployPkg

  • How many clusters manage vCenter Server?

How many clusters manage vCenter Server?

    I have 8 HOST ESXi 5.1 on a cluster.

and I want to remove 2 cluster HOST to add the VDP Advanced key and form a new group.

    can this change?

I can't found the maximum number of clusters a vCenter can handle, only the maximum number of hosts per cluster, which is 32... but altogether, you can have more than one cluster without problem.

Do a little math, since vCenter supports 1000 guests and each group can have 32 guests, maybe you can have at least 32 clusters... but not 100% on it.

    Ahmed Salah

    Hey, Ahmed.

the SSL error happens because you're looking for the IP address and not the FULL domain name.

To avoid this error, use the-d ssopass switch and specify your server's FULL domain name:

    ssopass d https://servername.domain:7444/lookupservice/sdk admin

  • vCenter service stops

    Hello

I'm under vCenter 5.0 U1 and my database is on a SQL Server 2008 Cluster, use Windows authentication.

Whenever my SQL team switches the server, the vCenter service stops. This causes quite the headache from my backup software requires is configured to retrieve virtual machines via vCenter.

Someone at - he never see cela or know a solution?

    THX

    Mike

First of all, I would like to point out the race vCenter on Cluster SQL is not fully supported and VMware Support on best efforts basis.

I've seen most of the time a manual intervention is required to start the return services after cluster failover

Check the options for high availability of the server vCenter supported

  • Capacity 1.5 IQ of the DHCP server to the static IP = vCenter fails.

I have installation capacity IQ 1.5 in our laboratory on vCenter 4.1 U1

    I have deployed the .ovf

the unit of capacity using DHCP configuration

    Configure the time zone

Configure passwords (for root and ciqadmin)

installation via CapacityIQ page, I set the record with vCenter

I rebooted the client of VIC and the plugin appeared in vCenter and I was able to run reports, etc.

Then I changed the IP address on the host of the server DHCP to static and it snapped communications to vCenter

and the plug-in icon disappeared. via the web page of Caron, I was unable to get communication to work again.

SO, I deleted CapacityIQ unit and redeployed following the same steps.

Now, when I sign up is said a capacity IQ server is already configured and I can 'force' the

record, but it still does not work. (it's a little different as the old "ovf" deployment never said anythign about try a 'force')

Because nothing did not work, I read the manual and tried the console to force registration and "delete."

    using the instructions below:

I logged in as "ciqadmin" (after finding root did not work)

    > register - ciq-admin < IP > vc-server force - user < myID > - < mypassword > passowrd
    > other CIQ is registered in the CR. Unsubscribe it or register with indicator of strength of CLI.

    Yet when I try

    > unregister the ciq-admin

    > VC already unregistered

    It's like I can't force him, and I can't cancel the registration.

We host VMware vCenter support but when I called they won't help me w / CapacityIQ (which doesn't look good).

No matter which deal with this yet? The thing that I should try?

    Thank you

    Jonathan Reininger

    Hi Jonathan,.

First, let's make sure that you properly run forced registration. Here is the command line that you typed:

    CIQ-admin check - vc-Server Force - user passowrd -

    It should read as follows:

    CIQ-admin sign up - vc-Server -force - user -password

Especially pay attention to the two dashes before 'strength', since it is a command line switch. Once you have verified if it works or not, we can dig more deeply if necessary.

Can someone please. Thanks in advance...

It sounds like the usual question of OpenSSL with LibWWW.  Try downgrading your libwww to 6.03.  You can get a little more information here.  If you look around the forums, you will find other references to Perl and problems with libwww SSL libraries.

  • not be able to collect some Logs Errror: unable to connect to the remote server

I'm trying to collect Diagnostic information requested of VMWARE and I get an error message

    Error state HOME

    Complete XX.XX.XX.xx

    Complete XX.XX.XX.xx

YY.yy.yy.yy could not connect to the remote server

YY.yy.yy.yy could not connect to the remote server

Bundle of newspaper has not YY.yy.yy.yy has not generated

    VCenter Server full

    VMware Vsphere Client full

I don't know their reasoning for this, but it seems like a pain in the thigh. Why not just export logs with the vSphere Client? File-> Export-> Export System Logs

    Or

Use the help wizard that will allow you to collect and automatically download newspapers in vSphere?

  • License of VMware ESXi

    Hi all

I want to know if the VMware ESXi can be used situation?

Hi William - Welcome in the community.

    The answer is Yes.

The free version of ESX, I can be uised in production - although you won't get any agreement with her support - so you don't have to rely on VMware etc. communities for support (not ideal for production)

There are a series of oif types of licenses that can be puyrchased - according to your needs.

I think VMWare are happy with thismodel, because once most companies see the benefits of VMware virtualization and save on hardware, etc., most go to buy licenses that include additional features such as vCenter, support, vMotion and so on.

ESXi (free version) has not built DR (like HA), or the distribution of resources (DRS) - If you are quite limited.

In short, although that - Yes is the answer to your question.

PS - Your first install ESXi will give you access to all the functions for a limited time - but once this period runs out, you will be limited to a limited ESXi installation. ESXi is the complete functionility of normal ESX, when it is fully licensed.

  • ESX compatible editions?

    Hello

vCenter standard seems to be the only edition of vcenter supported (not essential, or Foundation).

I can find no requirement for sustained vSphere Edition (Standard, Advanced, Ent or Ent +).

    If someone could clarify this?

    Concerning

    Bernard

CapacityIQ 1.0 supports all editions that include a vCenter Server.  This includes Essentials Essentials Plus, Standard, Advanced, Enterprise or Enterprise Plus.  It does not support a standalone single ESXi Server.

  • vCenter 5.5 U3 supported for SQL 2012 SP3?

is it safe to use a database SQL 2012 SP3, with 5.5 U3 vcenter Server?

To VMware vCenter Server 5.5 update 3 Release Notes release notes mention only SP2. SP3 is released for almost 5 months?

According to VMware product interoperability Matrices, Service Pack 3 for SQL Server 2012 is already supported.
