vCenter trial? Edit: doh found nvm.

IM studying for my VCP and many laboratories in the books requires vCenter server to do. Why is there no trial period for vCenter? How correctly configure vmotion or test of DRS or HA do not have access to the required tools. This does not make sense to me. IM problems with dvSwitches and have no way to put one in place, I took the class install config manage but that's more than a month and only read/memory will not adequately prepare for the test.

Edit: OK so there is a path, it's just not where I expect. Under products and vCenter Server there is no mentioned of a trail. However, under vSphear, he mentions that the trial license includes standard vCenter and heart rate.

This test is emotional me .

The trial of vSphere includes vCenter Server...

  • vCenter Trial - add free ESXi existing Datacenter

I've been running three hosts with the free version of ESXi. We try to evaluate licenses paid to get additional features (vMotion, etc.). I imported the virtual appliance for the server vCenter without any problem. Now I try to add my existing hosts in the data center, which I created in vCenter. When I do this, I get an error "download the file 10.161.30.3 to vCenter License Server failed because the exception: vim.fault.HostConnectFault". Is it not possible to add existing free ESXi hosts to vCenter trial?

Cannot add ESXi hosts permitted by the hypervisor free license to vCenter Server. If the hosts 60-day evaluation period have not been achieved, we can use it in trial mode. Apart from this you can ask for the keys to the assessment of your VMware reseller representative.

  • ESXi 4.1 free & Trial Edition license

    Hello

How will I know if I downloaded and installed ESXi 4.1 free or trial edition license? When I go to Support and downloads I see VMware vSphere Hypervisor, ESXi

and also if I click on vSphere then download I see also VMware vSphere Hypervisor, ESXi, so they are the same version? and which edition is licensed trial? and from where to get the free then?

    Concerning

all vSphere products can be used as a trial.  At the end of the 60 days, you will need to buy a SnS with VMware agreement or provide the license (provided in the registration e-mail) key to use the free vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) located on the link I provided above.

  • The host is licensed with VMware vSphere 5 Standard. The license of vCenter Server edition doesn't support VMware vSphere 5 Standard.

So I disconnected a host to vcenter server and now I get this error message when I try to reconnect to this host.  The host has been previously connected without any problem.  Vcenter servers as esxi are 5.5.0.  Anyone had any experience with this?

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you for sure why it worked previously. Maybe it worked with an earlier version, or hosts have been added while vCenter Server was still running in trial mode. Anyway, if you have a license of Essentials for vCenter Server, you must also license processors Essentials the Essentials version is sold as a kit.

  • Adding an ESXi 4 host to vCenter 5.1 Trial Version.

    Hi all

We have a number of guests in our lab environment running ESXi 4, ESXi 4.1 and same ESXi 5.0. We thought give us vCenter 5.1 a go, so I downloaded the free trial version for 60 days, but the following error when you try to add the host:

The host is licensed with VMware vSphere hypervisor 5. The license of vCenter Server edition doesn't support VMware vSphere hypervisor 5.

The hosts needed to run the 5.1 ESXi hypervisor to appear on the vCenter 5.1 Trial Version?

What if you buy vCenter 5.1, will he be able to manage 4.0/4.1/5.0 ESXi hosts? Or if you want to use vCenter 5.1 you must update all your hosts to the 5.1 ESXi hypervisor?

Thanks for any help, much appreciated!

  • VPC510 - objective 1.1 - identify the editions available vCenter server - cannot find a sure answer

    Hi all

I prepare my self to give the VPC510, I read the official book, blogs and online documentation. But there is always a goal that I can not find an answer for. Maybe its me that I don't know. Can someone help me:

    Identify available vCenter Server editions

    Please?

I know its stupid question sounds, but here is the confusion:

Book: standard - company - company liked

Documentation: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf : standard - plu - the company - company - but: KB VMware: VMware vCenter Server editions and licensing information standard foundation - essentials -

The review notes and blogs: Foundation - essentials - standard - example: http://vinfrastructure.it/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/VCP5-study-notes-EN-1.1.pdf

    Any ideas?

    Thank you in advance!

There is a difference between the vCenter Server and vSphere editions. Also the article you posted was for vSphere 4.

Page 7 of this document has the answer: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf

  • vSphere Enterprise license with vCenter 5 Standard edition 5

    Guys quick question

can I add a vSphere Enterprise 5 (or more) allowed a couple of new hosts (especially need FT and DRS) in conjunction with vSphere standard licenses already in service (and you want to keep) under a vCenter Standard edition 5?

    Thank you

I don't see a problem with running differently licensed hosts on one instance of vCenter server. Due to different features, you will need to place them in separate well groups. With respect to the vRAM, I understand how it vRAM is pooled by license type, then you will end up with two swimming pools.

  • Aspire V5 - 132 - "The OS not found"?

    Aspire V5 - 132 - "The OS not found"?

    the operating system installed?

    If it's windows 8.x

I suggest you to rebuild the BCD (Boot Configuration data) from command line and check if that helps.

1 insert the Windows 8.x installation/recovery media and start the computer using the disc.
If you do not have an installation/restore media, I suggest you download windows enterprise trial edition 8.1:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-Windows-8-1-Enterprise
You must burn the iso file downloaded to a bootable DVD or USB media

Note: You will need to consult the computer manual on how to set the CD/DVD or USB drive as the first boot device in the BIOS.

    2. Once you start using the disk installation of Windows on the Windows 8.x installation window, click on repair your computer.

    3. click on troubleshooting and advanced options. First thing you can try is the auto repair. If it does not help, go to the system restore. If it works fine, and then create a system restore point so that the next time that you are having problems you can always restore the computer to the recent system restore point created.

    4. If this does not help, and then select command prompt. Enter the following commands to four in the command prompt.

    Bootrec /fixmbr
    Bootrec /fixboot
    Bootrec /scanos
    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Once the order is complete, restart the computer.

    Hello

vCenter Service was able to start with the error failed to create the front of SINGLE sign-on: vmodl.fault.SystemError

    Thank you

    Hi John,.

This is due to host on the vCenter server entries. Please try the procedure below

Connect to the vCenter server, edit the/drivers/etc/hosts file in Notepad

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

    # 127.0.0.1 localhost

Note: If a line does not exist in the hosts file, add it at the end of the text.

#) to remove the comment from the line of IPv4.

    1. 127.0.0.1 localhost
      ·  Save and close the file.
    • localhost127.0.0.1.

      • GoTo services.msc and start VMware Virtual Center Services.

  • Local administrators on Windows of vCenter server is automatically granted 'Administrator' role in vSphere

This still applies (5.0 and 5.5).  I might have missed in the 5 documentation site.  I see still ESX Admin workaround applies to 5.5 and wondered about the role of local administrators.

VMware vSphere 4 - ESX and vCenter Server

    It's the 4.0 site doc.

"Host records all selected Windows domain user, or a group through the process of assigning permissions." By default, all users who are members of the local windows Group istrators Adminthe vCenter Server have the same rights of access as any user assigned to the Adminsector role. Users who are members of the group Administrators can log on as individuals and have full access. »

EDIT - I found this... VMware vSphere 5.1

Seems to be the same... :))

The main difference is that before 5.1 and 5.5, the local Administrators group on the server vCenter Server is the default vCenter Server Administrator. With vCenter 5.x with the addition of SSO, installing vCenter, you will be asked which user account or the group will be initially given and vCenter Server Administrator role. Here is the screenshot. This screenshot, after installing vCenter, only the [email protected] has the role of administrator on the vCenter server.

If you upgrade your server vCenter to 5.x since a previous version using a Simple installation, if I remember correctly, you won't see the screen above as the installation will use the existing as the vCenter Administrator local Windows Administrators group.

    It will be useful.
