vCO: write a file on a network share

Hello

I am very new to vCO and unfortunately I do not have experience in programming/scripting.

The question I have is how to write a file/folder on a Windows network share in a scriptable vCO task?  I am able to write a file to a local directory, but cannot write to a network share.

Code:

file.createDirectory ();

I already modified the file js - io - rights.conf to include the UNC path, that I want to write.

I think it's a question that the vCO run the script in the SYSTEM context in Windows, but you allow it on a network share.  I tested by adding and removing the SYSTEM in a local folder.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Mike

You will need to create a service account has network access to this network share. Re-configure vCO Server Service runs with the credentials of this account. After that, you should be able to do what you ask. I had this same use case on a project of the last year

p.s. check out the last section of this site...

    http://www.jlcomp.demon.co.UK/FAQ/UTL_FILE.html

(the section called "sharing Windows and mapped drives")

It may be due to your problem (keep in mind the article is old, but the concept should be similar)

  • The VM cannot copy files from a network share on the host

I get the error "unable to copy xyz123: cannot read from the source file or disk.» When you try to copy a file to a shared folder.

    • The shared folder is located on the machine called VM-SERVER, which runs in Workstation 6.0.4. The folder is shared with everyone having full control. Security settings say that DOMAIN\Domain users also have complete control.

    • Any user who connects to any guest VM on VM-SERVER, which is the host of all the VMS in the Organization, can not access the file for copying, although registration to the directory is there (although slow to come). If the same user connects to any other computer on the network, any computer of VM-no-prompt, then he can access the files on the share on VM-SERVER with no problems.

    • VM' are the guest all configured with Bridged networking like they serve other users on the network. I disable the VMWare adapters. I insert the DisableDos key with a value of 1 as indicated by the FAQ, I restart the VM host operating system and the virtual computer guests.

    • VM-SERVER running Windows Server 2003 R2 x 64. It has 2 1 TB SATA drives, and the action in question is physically located on the D: drive.

    • The VM guest OS are XP Sp3, Vista Sp1, Windows Server 2003 R2 x 32 Business.

    • None of these comments VM are able to access the contents of the files on the share on VM-SERVER.

    • All computer virtual guests are able to access shares located on another server, the primary domain controller of the network that is running Windows Server 2003 R2 x 32.

Accordingly, I'm worried because the concept of the virtual computer for critical business was my decision and up to the exception of this scenario (and a recently resolved USB printing problem) it went well. Unfortunately even a mess can stop production.

Note that I have read the FAQ and tried the suggestions that seemed to apply.  I also looked in the forums and haven't seen a specific question/answer.  If there is an answer out there and you read this point please make me, orperhaps you have another suggestion?  I am open to all theories and possible solutions.

I do not recommend, you delete all file system, because it can cause you many problems.
But in general using unlock you can remove almost anything literally...

It will show which process is the file/folder you want to delete, and even it will remove the process or service holding the file/folder you want to delete...

go at your own risk with regard to the deletion of system files

  • Reading / writing in by vCO using network shares

I'm sorry for the question, but I read this forum, and I am still failing to put in place how to read and write files on a network share.

Can someone give me more explicit instructions? I tried to use the File object, but I don't know how to instantiate in the first place, I believe that my syntax is wrong.

The way around this is to map the network folder to a disc and use the drive letter.
In your case, it would look like this:

    NET use M: \\server\folder / persistent: no
    M:

When you are finished, you can unmount the drive:

  • Problem backup files of MS Office 2007 to the network share on non-persistent pool

I use ThinApp to load MS Office 2007 in a non-persistent pool. Whenever I try to save an Office file to a network share start installation of the application. It takes a lot of time. Any ideas on that?

    Thank you

    Sheph003

Are you sure that the last-born is a factor here?  It seems more that you have not properly packaged.  Have you tried the same operation of the master image?  To avoid problems, the best way to package the ThinApp is using the same basic build vm that you use for your link clones but without all the apps still installed i.e. windows Basic.

For example I have 2 images - 1 is Windows XP only, the 2nd is a progression of this image with installed software that becomes the parent.  Thinapps are packed on a copy of the image 1 running on VM Workstation.  I know that my image of parent and ThinApp image have the same windows build due to the process, I followed.

I don't see what last-born can have no effect on your problem?

  • Windows 7 loses access to the network share when unplug wired connection

With my laptop Windows 7 Pro (64-bit SP1;) docked and thus have wired network (within a domain), I can access shares network very well. A wireless connection is active at the same time. When I detach, Windows Explorer and Office applications get upset some of the time. In addition, this is the case when I anchor. He didn't there has no problem opening a file on the network share when I'm rooted or not anchored, but the transition is not well. Windows launches the error code 0 x 80070035, Windows cannot access , the network path was not found. When it is connected to our wireless network, the machine name is altered by an additional letter. The latter has led to a problem that had to be cleared up by a patch installed by my system administrator, but the problem persisted.

I understand that Windows 7 should be smart enough to pass interfaces for network access, having a preference for a wiring if it is available (perhaps even the connection data rate). Maybe it's too much to expect that the operating system could make this transition, but it seemed that my Vista laptop has done very well. Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you.

Is it possible to create a link to a PDF file on a network through DPS Server?

  • What people are included in "Level 1 Administrator permissions?" when the configuration file and network share permissions?

I'm trying to figure out how to set the level of permissions for my files and folders. But I also understand exceptions to the permissions of level 1 and level 2. I've never used a "network of the computer at work." I've only used a "network of computers at school. So I have only a limited understanding of what means "administrator." At home, when I'm sitting at my computer, which is not connected to a network to work, or school, I'm the 'administrator' on my computer. This is because I created the "user account" through the steps required to create an account on my computer, and I assigned a password to the account. Only, I can read and write to files and folders that I created in the folder "My Documents" from my user account. At least I have change permissions and file sharing, all files and folders in the "My Documents" folder are private (level 1) and no one else can read or write on my files. I have 'full control '.

However, if I'm on a computer at work or at school, even if I am the "owner/creator" of my files and folders, there is another person (my boss or my teacher) for example, which is the 'network administrator.' Presumably, this person has access to my files and folders and share a total control over them. If that's true, how someonewho is not the creator of the file or folder access? If anyone else can have total control over my files and folders at school or work, which keeps an unknown person to access my files and folders on my computer a home. What I mean is this: if I change the permissions to allow someone else to read and write in my files and folders, which prevents an unauthorized person by performing the same steps to access my files and folders? My question is about operating systems, I learn all that is Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista SP2.

  • Backup point-in-time with backup to network share files

    Hi all

    Oracle Database 11 g Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production - on Windows 2008R2 64 bit

I'm still getting hot RMAN backup and that you have configured our backup as follows:

-Nightly rman backup to local drive (ORAFRA) hot and then copy the entire ORAFRA folder on a network share (which will be on the Strip).

It adheres to RPO my company (recovery point objective) of 24 hours, because if my real server goes down I can restore in the previous 24 hours.

HOWEVER, my question is more to be able to make the point-in-time recovery using disaster file sharing network. I guess I can make the point in time at any time prior to my backup complete (using SNA #)... but if I wanted to be able to do point-in-time recovery AFTER my full backup, how would that be possible?

Example - full backup at 19:00 every night. The incident occurring at 23:00. words I can only return to 19:00 or before. How can I configure I can restore, say at 22:00, using network backup files?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes.  You must use the syntax for using backup controlfile recovery and do a resetlogs.

With rman, you might be able to avoid the resetlogs, depending on whether the point-in-time is your real goal (which could be the situation you've lost again them online - or maybe not so rman the controlfile and newspapers archived periodically).

You might investigate databases in waiting, many places decides that they are worth the cost compared to the possible losses.  And even if you do not, the concepts of recovery help to understand these things.

You can also consider, the purpose of backup is resumed and rman is to manage the recovery.  It is really important to understand the concepts, to the point you can do it in your sleep (literally nearby, here), but it is also important to understand the tools.
