• How is the character limit 256 on the applied file names?

  I understand that a file name can be up to 256 characters.

  It seems that the 256 characters includes the total number of characters that make up the complete chain of the folder associated with the file names.  Is that why when I get to the folder (for example) fifteenth in the folder tree that I have run out of characters, even if the name of the file, I'm trying to create has only about 20 characters in there?

  If this is the case, is it possible to adjust the number of allowed characters?

  If this is not the case why is my system not allowing me to use more than (for example) 20 characters when I am in a long series of files?

  256 character limit applies as well the full path. So, if you have a long series of records, it does not accept the name of the file.  You will need to either move the files to shorten the path, or rename the folders to shorten the chain for the path name.

• Alternative names not getting not created

  Hi friends,

  I created an item, the link, the set of elements and then ran the process of mapping to generate. I am assuming that the process to generate will also generate another name automatically defined for the element. Is this correct? If yes the game another name is not created for me. Any ideas why this is not created.

  On a different note if the game of the other name is not created then can we create one manually and this work as well as that is created by will generate the mapping process

  My EBS is 12.1.3. Kindly help.

• Accounts-character limit

  Can someone advise what is the character limit for accounts?

  I noticed that the documentation mentions this is 30, but when you check the area under views it shows 80 and we can add an account liked 30.

  If the field has been changed to 80 are here all other conflicts he might encounter if I go beyond the limit of 30? or they simply updated the doco.

  Hi Nick,

  Yes, the account name may be longer than 30 characters in 11.1.1.6. The 30 character limit was the limit old 10g but has been extended to 80 characters.

  This limit is set in the database tables and can go to 80 characters in 11.1.1.6.0.

  SQL > describe documentaccounts;

  Type VARCHAR2 (80)

  80 characters by default and is related to the limit of the OS because the account name is used as part of the file name.

  Documentation has not updated this information to newer versions.

• IPad Client for View 5 supports Subject Alternative Name (SAN) certificates?

  Does anyone know if the iPad App to see 5.0 Update for subject alternative name (SAN) certificates?  I tested a SAN certificate on a view Security Server 5.0, and it worked great for all the FQDN in the certificate when you use the view Windows 5.0-based Client.  However, when I try to connect using the iPad App, it seems to trust only the common name (CN) rather than additional complete domain names in the SAN certificate.  The nice thing about SAN certificates is that you can buy 1 certificate with a whole bunch of domain names and use the same certificate on multiple servers.  But this seems to break the view iPad customer.  Can anyone confirm that this is a limiation of the iPad App?  This should be corrected in a future release?  Or are we stuck buying individual certificates for each of our servers?

  I had this same problem.  I get mine from DigiCert, and they offer duplicate certificates.  I had a duplicate with my FQDN View Manager like CN first and installed.  After that, I was able to use it on the iPad.

• Character limit to the custom calculation Script?

  Hello. I have a document that has a text form field. I want to run a custom calculation script which basically says if field 'Number group' = xxxxxxx, so the 'Group name' field should = ABC company.

  I have a list of almost 575 group numbers and names that I need to put in the script. And I have the script works fine, but I'm guessing that there is a limit of characters for the field script? It doesn't let me put my complete list in there.

  Any suggestions on how to work around this problem?

  Yes, there is a character limit for internal JS Editor. The round it is to use an external, such as Notepad.

  Do go to Edit - Preferences - JavaScript and select "Use the external JavaScript editor" and then select the application you want to use.

  Don't forget, however, that you must close the external file each time that change you it if you want to update in the PDF file.

  Hi Brian, yes there is a limit of only 100 characters. Your e-mail name should not exceed more than 100 characters.

• Cannot right click Windows 7 Explorer of files to generate the copy of the file names in a Notepad or Excel-compatible file. HELP REQUESTED!

  I struggled for several hours to restore the service right click that I used to have XP to Windows 7.  I need to save lists of file names such as displayed in the file Explorer. Allowing you to right-click and save files in Notepad. This option has been removed in Windows 7 and anything put in place to restore it.

  I have lists of items in the inventory and need to copy and paste the image corresponding to a transfer sheet to allow the server names to match images in article SKU.  The file names are long and typing is a complete waste of time.

  I used to be able to find them in the Windows Explorer, right-click on the directory and generate a txt file that I could open in Notepad or Excel.  -Easy.  Now right-click only allows an export in an uneditable image in ONE NOTE. This is useless for me. I can't do anything with an image file - I need the editable data.

  Is there a solution?  I need only the file name and extension, not the full path, in a text or spreadsheet document propagation.

  I had used the Microsoft solution to install their dose without knowing the final format was a NOTE image file format and not a simple txt file. I try now too write the batch file:

  %windir%\Printdir.bat

  or edit it in order to keep the file in Notepad and do not make the final conversion into a single Note.

  The problem is that the fix from Microsoft, designed to fix this problem, has placed the conversion file in the root directory and it cannot be overwritten.  I refused the possibility to delete, edit or write the file due to the requirements of administrative privilege mandated by the security of Windows 7 too much.

  So if anyone has a solution to every problem - that would help - I am very tired and frustrated and not happy with Microsoft.  Their zealous concern with security made their unnecessary programs for me and have further discouraged me to convert to the windows 10. frustrations and nightmares are waiting for me there I can't imagine.  What I really want to do at this point is to go back to XP.

  He ate five hours of my day. I don't have the time to fight like that. I am trying to be productive, but all I got are monumental technical walls and roadblocks - often designed into the system. Frustrating doesn't begin to describe it.

  Found a solution on a Web site:

  They said it was for VISTA, but worked for me under Windows 7. You will need to use Notepad to the command prompt and select run as administrator to save the file in the root directory.

  You want to access Web pages of the ISE by different names. My devices or the sponsor-Portal is a good example for this. To access by the native name of one of your ISEs would be friendly to your users. If they can access this asmydevices.example.net and sponsorportal.example.net, it is easier for users. But to not get a cert warning, you must have all the additional names added to the certificate. These are the "other names of the subject' or without. Another method to achieve the same is to use a certificate with wildcards.

  I do solution dot1x with web auth on switches cisco 3750.

  Once the wired customer put in the web authentication status (after dot1x and mab) and goes to a website, he receives a certificate warning. This is because as the switch cisco selfsigned certificate.

  I want to use a verisign certificate to resolve this error, but I can't find a way to generate a CSR on a switch. I only found a guide how to request a certificate from a CA on the local network, but it is also not a solution, because the customers with the help of web authentication, won't the internal certification authority.

  The document below is really for IOS SSLVPN, but the part of the certificate must be the same:

  Search for the 'Annex B' and it goes into the creation of a trustpoint and then a section for the self-signed and another is to generate a certificate request to send to an external certification authority.

  Once created a trustpoint command to actually generate the CSR is "crypto PKI enroll."

  Also, you can use something external to the switch as OpenSSL to generate the CSR and private key and then use it to request a certificate from your Verisign CA and then import the cert/key pair in the IOS device.
