Vectorization

Hello
I've recently upgraded to Illustrator CC and I can't find the trace options. Is there a new way to may a photo into an illustration using Illustrator?

Thanks in advance!

Hello

You will find 'Trace Image' in the object, as well as Windows menu. Please see the image below and the link how it works:

  • Vectorize an image using Labview

    Hello world!

So, I work with a 3D cutting machine (Roland MDX - 15) and I'm supposed to design a program that can load images and burn them on a piece of wood using Roland MDX - 15.

What I've done, is to create a program where you can draw a picture using the tools of sketch of Labview and the machine will sculpt.

The machine is capable of carving the image using vectors (she follows lines point by point).

Now, I have to do the same thing, but an image that I have load in Labview. Therefore, I need to vectorize the image so that the machine gets a set of lines to draw. A program that is already it is Dr.Engrave (see youtube if you need to understand what I need).

So, anybody know a 'simple' way to transform an image into a set of vectors?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello VGans,

I assumed that when you talk of tracing any edge detection method would be allowed to help you get started.

If it is a false assumption, then let me know.

    Keeping this in mind:

Already taken a peek at the "IMAQ CannyEdgeDetection' VI?

This could be a good starting point for tracing purposes.

Can you let me know if that's what you're looking for?

  • Thickness and Type of racing > vectorize

OK, so I'll try punching text from an object of single-color to a simple t-shirt design. Basically, the object is a white circle, and the text is CHRIS. The word CHRIS needs to be cut out / transparent so that the t-shirt shows thru. (Red = shirt white circle + red letters, = black shirt white circle + black letters, etc.)

Pretty simple to start. (1) draw the white circle. (2) type of text. (3) adjust the line width of font to text Select PT 5 very thick (4). (5) choose the text command > vectorize.

However, the blue outlines are for the basic text (0 pt) race blue contours do not include the additional line weight (5 pt).

Then... How can I get the blue outline to include additional line weight. (In other words, how can I move the blue outlines features outside?)

    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards

    Chris

Thank you very much for the quick responses, everyone.

I finally found a way to do...

    (1) draw the white circle. (2) type of text. (3) adjust the line width of font to text Select PT 5 very thick (4). (5) type > vectorize. (6) object > path > Outline Stroke Pathfinder Panel (7) > unit (maintains the outside contour).

    Thank you once again.

    Kind regards

  • Newb needs help with vectorization

I use PS and AI CS5

It is a newb here so keep it civil please!

I want to take my scanned sketches HAVE so I can use the "live trace" function to smooth out them and vectorizes them.  I used to do that all the time that a couple of years ago, but I forgot the process, anyone know?  It went something like this:

I think that I would first scan, > put in photoshop > can do something, > change the file format and > put somehow GOT.

From there on, I remember you need to > select white background and > it separate lines.  Then > I would like to use the function "vectorization.

I meet problems that HAVE her does not seem to recognize the saved PS file formats in (except pdf) and I can't cut and paste that I get an error "cannot export Clipboard because it is too big" and when I I don't remember how to select things and even less how to separate the line of the background art - I don't see even the "function of vectorization.  It's like forgetting how to ride a bike.

Anyone able to help?  It would be much appreciated!

Thank you, Monika, I think I found the problem.  My seems to be damaged and will not play many file formats, it turns out that when I reinstalled my CS5 collection a year or two ago I have not activated the have correctly.  God knows why just illustrator would be like this, but for all of you who have this problem, I'm fairly certain that it is because the AI is somehow passed to the 'unlimited trial' mode.  Seems to be easy to fix, just with a reinstall.  Maybe there is an easier way, but it should work.

Congratulations to all for your help!

  • Vectorize

HI, how could I vectorize an image created with Photoshop mixing app for the iPhone?

    Thank you

    Hi ariannap70410916!

I'm sorry for the very late reply. You have a subscription to the CC? You can send your Mix on your desktop and use Illustrator CC (a desktop application) to trace the image function and it vectorize. It will not keep all its details. Or, you could trace your hand using Adobe Illustrator image shoot (a mobile app). You can then send it to Illustrator CC as a vector.

Let me know if that helps!

  • "Vectorize" does not not to change the individual letters of the text. Help, please!

I am trying to change the individual letters of the text using "vectorize" and then separate the letters. When I do this, illustrator doesn't add anchor points the outline of the letter. Instead it treats only the letter as a square image of base and I can only adjust its size. Help, please!

Make sure you click first if nothing is selected, and then select the anchor point specific, if you select the letter or the line you will get different results from what is selected.

  • Since Acrobat DC: Can vectorize fonts when I save my file in PDF or EPS format?

Since Acrobat DC: Can vectorize fonts when I save my file in PDF or EPS format?

    Thanks for help.

Really your question does not apply to Acrobat, but rather the creation of programs such as CorelDraw. As a general rule, an export/backup PDF with all fonts embedded. It is the most reliable workflow. Use resulting from these PDF files (or EPS files) with embedded fonts always gives you the full loyalty of the fonts used initially. Describing the text gives out bloated, low quality text. But if you want outlining when the PDF was created, you must do these Exhibitor in your authoring application.

    -Dov

PS: There is a correction of preflight for text describing in Acrobat Pro DC if you already embedded or installed fonts on your system. We generally do not recommend this high quality, reliable workflow.

  • How vectorizes an image without loss of quality

I'm trying to "Distort the free" the the eps image, HAVE, but it must be outlined first, I think.

How I vectorizes an image without quality loss?

As you can see here, this yellow image will distort free.

Considering that this image will not distort:

    collect plus business rates.png

They are both the same file format, but as you can see one of the images has many elements, but the other does not. I have to convert the second picture?

    Thank you

    Simon

    Simon,

If I (put) understand, you can cheat as follows (guides are your friends, telling you when you're withoin magnetism remotely):

    (1) ClickDrag with the Rectangle tool in the opposite corners of the placed image (Smart Guides say anchor);

    (2) give the rectangle nostroke/nofill;

    (3) group the rectangle and the image;

    (4) distort the as you like.

  • Can no longer "Vectorize" after deformation of text

I was able to create outlines after deformation of text last week. Now, vectorize under the Type menu is greyed out after I deform the text. How can I get it ready to send to the printer without create outlines? Why this feature would just stop working?

With the help of Ia CC

    Thank you

When sending a PDF file the text should be automatically converted text outlines.

But of course, you could do it via extending the curvature or flattening of transparency.

  • Drawing vectorization technique

I'm new to Illustrator - so apologies for what is probably a basic question! I'm scanning of simple components on a technical drawing. Here's the line drawings - closed contours (for example, the outline of the cross section of an airplane wing). I try to use Illustrator to convert the vector jpg scan form - save the result as a .dwg file. I am so that import into SolidWorks where I'm trying to extrude the shape of the part before 3D printing.

In Illustrator, I use vectorization to create the vector representation. However I find that the vector representation seems to take the form of a number of vector representations. segmented. So, in SolidWorks I can obviously not extrude the component.

Are there additional steps in Illustrator should I use to clean up/unify the vector representation? Your help would be greatly appreciated...

Vectorization is usually a REALLY difficult interpretation of the object. Best practice would be to trace it with the pen tool. I understand that that's intimidating if you are new to the program.

  • Batch in bridge CC re-trace vectorization when files are opened in Illustrator CC

    Hello

I use CC bridge to live trace a batch of images. After I ran the process (Tools-> Illustrator-> Trace of Image with a custom tracing Preset and record in .ai format) on a batch of images, I open them in Illustrator CC and they were all automatically re-traces before I could see them. It seems that the Illustrator is re - run the vectorization I applied in Bridge. Save the file under a new name doesn't make a difference.

However, when I saw trace a file directly in Illustrator, save as .ai and re - open, the file opens fair and does not get automatically re-assigned each time.

I can do to prevent the re - trace the images that I traced to the bridge of Illustrator? I have a few trace files and want to use Bridge to batch processing them, if possible.

    Thank you!

The follow-up is "live". So, he will be re-made every time that you open the file.

If not, you've probably expanded track, which will not happen when tracing via the bridge.

  • I'm trying to vectorize an image but struggling to get the right settings for the CS6.

Hi all, I'm trying vectorize an image, but im struggling right now. I would like to get the same effect as this: http://fav.me/d4p907m. If someone knows how its done or if I'm close to having the right settings?  http://i.imgur.com/5Oka65P.jpg (my attempt is the one of the far-right, the cs6. The one on the left, in Paint.NET, is the desired result. Thank you for reading.

You will need to change this image in Photoshop before tracing. Then vectorize with 6 to 8 colors.

But you'll still need to edit I subsequently. There is no way to get the eyes in this Green using autotrace. It goes the same for lips.

You must also consider the piece manually.

You need to save/export a graphic software that has the ability of vectorization. Acrobat didn't like.

  • Vectorization Anti-Aliasing?

I am trying to import some QR codes in illustrator and then using vectorization on them to convert them into vectors. The funny this is that even if the image source files are perfectly clean all the way up to 3200% magnification, all forms are perfectly numbers of pixels, and all angles are perfect of the 1990s, they come out of the own vectorization.

Some, not all, the lines are a little teensy swollen and blurred. I thought that this could be a problem with it does not line up for the grid of pixels correctly so I tried snaps to the pixel before tracing. I tried with the 300 and 72 ppi image sources, which were perfectly clean in photoshop. I tried the formats PNG and JPEG formats for the source files. in my trace options, the blur is set to 0, as is the path of fitting. I still can't come out clean. The only conclusion I can draw is there some kind of Anti-Aliasing going on but I can't find a way around.

    Any ideas?

Nothing wrong. You don't understand how to work these algorithms and using a wrong workflow. Simply rebuild the QR code by drawing a sqaure around the whole area, and then convert the object into a grid with lines / columns, delete the empty boxes. It takes 2 minutes.
