Version OR USB-5132 / NI-VISA

All,

I try to use NI USB-5132 Digitizer.  Looking through the material on downloads, it seems that I have NEITHER-SCOPE using this product; I therefore downloaded NO-SCOPE 3.9.7 and tried to install only to find the following error message:

"Version not supported NI-detected VISA
A version of NI-VISA, which is not supported on this operating system has been detected. You must cancel this installation and uninstall the old version before continuing. Visit ni.com/frinfo and enter the Info Code CleanVista for more information. »

So I followed the instructions and it says I need to uninstall the software OR... I would just install another version of NI-VISA instead reinstall waste products OR I have.  No one knows the version of NI-VISA used by NO-SCOPE 3.9.7 or where to find this information?  I am using windows 7 32-bit, LabVIEW 2011 SP1.

-Bill

Greetings,

I find that the typical reason users come to this error message is an upgrade of the operating system. When our Setup program detects that a version of our software which is not supported on the current version of the operating system is installed there don't try to remove it and provides instead that error. This can happen if, say, a user upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 without performing a clean install of the operating system. The simplest solution:

  • Go to the control panel
  • Select Add/Remove programs
  • Choose National Instruments software
  • Remove NI-VISA.
  • Install a new modern version of NI-VISA.

With the outdated critical version removed safely, modern Setup will work fine.

Thank you

    Is this possible?

Thank you very much for all your comments!

    Gators,

Any device that you can find in the PCI form factor that is able to acquire quickly enough for your application will work for you. The material has nothing to do with your ability to process and display data on the fly. How to write your program to acquire and process data will be the determinant of whether you will be able to track the incoming data. I would recommend that you look for in producer / consumer performs a loop to process the data. The PCI-5102 will not be able to acquire fast enough for your application, I recommend the PCI-5114 or PCI-5112 for your application. I also recommend to take a lot of memory board for the card you purchase as you go to acquiring data at a fast speed for a long Aussie time.

  • external reference for USB-5132

    Hello

I have a few questions (I hope) General on the use of an external reference on our USB-5132 digitizer clock.  We want to block for the other oscillators in our system, which are currently locked to a single reference of 10 MHz.  If I connect our reference of 10 MHz at the entrance of PFI1, my questions are:

1 is now locked 5132 to our system?  Or, is it necessary to specify in the installation software we want to replace the internal reference of the 5132 and rely entirely our external reference?

    2. in order to have the best possible of locking, do we need to tell the 5132 sample at a frequency which is divisible by 10 MHz (for example 20 MHz, 10 MHz, 5 MHz, 2 MHz, etc.)?  Similarly, we are worse off if you want to try to say, 13 MHz?

    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Best regards

    Penny

    Hi Penny,

You need all three. The ' sampleScopeSession.Timing.SampleClockTimebaseRate = 1.0e7; "is the Source of SampleClockTimebase rate. The only piece of code that you won't need is the 'sampleScopeSession.Timing.SampleClockTimebaseMultiplier' because your device does not support RIS.

  • trigger Auto USB-5132

I have a few USB - 5132 s that I am incorporating in montages of test which will be controlled by LabView application basically, I need them to run in auto trigger mode, just like a standard of digitization "scope. By that I mean to set a threshold and use trigger dashboard, but in auto mode. In this case the ' scope retriggers continuously, and when there is a real trigger event, the display syncs upward. " So if you have the game to relax in the center of the screen position, edges that meet the trigger criteria align to Center; Otherwise, the signal is displayed without taking into account this kind of alignment.

The NO-SCOPE Soft Front Panel application can do that, then I know it's possible. But I can't sort out how to make myself in LabView. One thought I had was to pretend: essentially set up to trigger normal edge and in the case of a timeout, then simply use a software to obtain new data and update the display. But I do not know how to set the timeout to trigger.

    Any ideas? Thank you.

    Andy,

There is a NO-Scope property that you can use to allow automatic release.  The property is called trigger modifier, and it has two possible values: None (normal trigger) or Auto-Trigger.  Also, there is a property that is read-only called automatic activation, which will tell you if an acquisition was triggered automatically or if a real relaxation has been received.

  • Why can't get information from frequency of NI USB-5132

    Hello

I use NI USB-5132 and try OR Scope example measure a library.

I wonder why I can't get information from the input signal frequency.

    Thank you

In the flexible Panel, you need to adjust the time/Div and, possibly, the Volts/Div to get a consistent result. Make a note of the settings.

Based on what you used in the soft cover, you must change the parameters of the VI until you see a signal. If you don't see something here, then obviously you can not perform a measurement. Try other examples to see if you can capture at least the waveform.

  • USB 5132: error-1074135022?

    People-

I just USB-5132 / s, trying to use NO-Scope in BT 8.5.1. What I want to do is simple: read records from 2.5 M to 20 Mhz clocked internally into two channels PF1 as source of relaxation, positive edge. Here's my little VI and the error generated to "reading." Simple, right? But what I am doing wrong?

    TIA

    Alex

    Hello Alex,.

One of the problems in that you run is that your device does not support several record acquisition.  The example that you try to run using this feature.

"" "An example VI that you could run with this device would be the niScope EX Acquisition set up, found under material input and output" Modular Instruments ' OR SCOPE(High-Speed Digitizers) ' General. This example is set to acquire one record and then run again, the acquisition. By changing this example, you should be able to get what you need.

  • USB-to-serial VISA read problems

    Hello

I'm trying to control several mass flow controllers attached to a hub series Alicat BB9. The hub is then connected to the computer via RS-232 series. The computer on that what is done is not a serial port, so an adapter series / usb is used. When it is plugged in, the computer (XP) recognizes the series / usb and requires a driver. I installed a driver from the manufacturer of the adapter, downloaded from the internet. The same driver is used on another computer (Vista) without any problem.

I am able to verify that the device is installed and operating correctly via the Device Manager. I am also able to see what the device COM port is turned on. Opening OR measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), I am able to see the COM port listed under serial devices. I am able to validate the port settings and open a VISA session with the device. However, any time I try to read from the device, what happens to expired. I get the error xBFFF0015. I have for the parameter timeout at 5000 and 10,000 without change.

When you run a VI that is used in the laboratory to control the same configuration, I can trace the error to a VISA read Subvi. The returned 'buffer' is not a value and will raise an error. I can plug the USB key into a laptop that has the same VI and it will run without problem. The Subvi "VISA read" return a value when running on the laptop.

I'm under LabView 8.5 and 4.4 of VISA.

If anyone has a suggestion that could get this to work I would appreciate it a lot. Also, I am a graduate. student who is working on this issue and my understanding of LabView is not terribly large, so dumbed-down responses would be nice

    Thank you for your help.

    Connor

Thank you for the follow-up. However, I was able to solve the problem already... It was simply a driver update that solved my problem. The driver being used is "Prolific usb-to-serial" and version 1.. I upgraded 2.0.2.1 and it works fine now. I thought I had updated to the most recent before and apparently I had not... kind of delay. But thanks anyway!

  • The use of reminders with a USB connected instrument VISA?

I have a 34972 Agilent connected by USB to a Windows 7 computer. I'm using LabWindows/CVI and VISA drivers.

I can't find a way to set up a callback that will respond to an alarm on the Agilent event, IE. the Agilent is configured so that certain combinations of signal to generate an alarm (it could be any other event of the instrument-it ends up in the STB registry, similar to that on a GPIB instrument) and I want that my program LabWindows to respond to this event (for example to run a callback routine). With GIPB I ibnotify() etc, but I can't find the equivalent on this combination (USB/VISA).

    Any ideas?

    Hi HDJ

Have you seen this documentation on how to make VISA event management?

    Events in NI-VISA VISA

    http://www.NI.com/support/visa/vevents.PDF

At the bottom of page 4 there are some things to consider when you use the callback mechanism. Most important is that you need to install a handler function, viInstallHandler(), before activating the viEnableEvent() event.

Also, you should notice that she is allowed to have a reminder per session.

Agilent also have som of information on usage of the event and the reminder here (page 46):

  • Installation of the minimum runtime for the program using the driver USB of NI-VISA personal

I have a LabVIEW 2009 application that uses a driver for a USB device, created using the wizard of the Driver NI-VISA.  What my minimum installation of runtime needed to understand when I move it on a non-development machine?

On my dev machine, I went to MAX and given my new camera USB one alias of VISA.  I think I'll meet trouble if my deployment includes no MAX on TIME machine.

Right now, I guess the minimum is LabVIEW 2009 DURATION, NOR-DAQmx Configuration (including MAX) execution, duration of NI-VISA.

If not, is there a method that avoids having to configure an alias altogether?  It would be nice to not not need NOR-DAQmx, I use not any material that my USB device with driver custom.

    Thank you!

Not sure why you consider same installation DAQmx. You can install just MAX, the VISA duration and your harware MAX configuration. The installerallows of LabVIEW allows you to export the configuration, and then you select the option to import on the deployment computer. You will also need to include the installation of the inf file you created with the wizard.

  • Code sign VISA raw driver USB for Windows 8

    Hi guys,.

I wrote a LabVIEW program that communicates with a measuring using NI-VISA (class raw USB) USB device.
With the development of Driver NI-VISA Wizard, I created two .inf files of drivers (for XP/2000 and 7/Vista).
It works like a charm on my computer (Windows 7, 64-bit) and on the computers running Windows XP and 32-bit versions of Windows Vista and 7.
I also have to work on 64 bit versions of Windows Vista and 7 using "disable driver signature enforcement" before installing the driver.
Once the driver is installed, it is listed under "devices USB of NI-VISA" in the Windows Device Manager. After that I can reactivate the driver signature enforcement, the unit will continue to work, even after a reboot.

Alas, in the 64-bit version of Windows 8 is not as simple as that. Yes, you can temporarily disable driver signing enforcement, but not on computers that use 'secure boot' or UEFI.
I know that there are ways to disable booting UEFI's secure, but I don't want that on our customers computers. It seems wrong, and could introduce a large number of security problems.

The next logical step would be to sign the device driver. Our company has a valid kernel mode code signing certificate and we signed the other drivers with it in the past.
The problem is that I don't know how to sign my device in the NI-VISA database driver. According to the .inf file it uses WinUSB.sys, a Microsoft USB generic driver (part of the Windows Driver Kit, I think).
Winusb.sys is already signed by Microsoft and that I could replace the signature, but that probably won't work without some tweaking inf and generate a new catalog file.

Can someone please give me some pointers on where to start? As a reference, I have attached one of the inf files for this post. This inf file works on Windows Vista and 7.

It is even possible to create a signed driver based on NI-VISA raw?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here's a knockout who described workaround.

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/36DB8D6AC385052786257A940066A421

What you have written, you need to generate a catalog (.cat) of the inf file (as described in step 1 of the KB) and then sign the .cat with your certificate file, the same way you would sign your other components. The inf and CAT are always distributed together. The inf file contains information about the cat file that has the signature, and the cat file contains the signature information. Since you have already been distributing the components signed with your own certificate, I'm sure you can understand the process, but please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • GPIB-USB-HS and USB-8451 communication issues - appearing only in VISA

    Hello

I recently started a new job and have had communication problems between my adapter GPIB-USB-HS, my VISA or MAX-Labview and USB-8451 I2C/SPI interface.  I installed LabView to 32 bits, OR-488. 2, the driver for the 8451 on my windows desktop and VISA 16.0 7.

In the windows Device Manager, the 8451 appears as a device USB of NI-VISA and Gbspecifications FOR-USB-HS presents itself as a GPIB Interface of NOR.  Two of these instruments are recognized NI Max so but communication Gbspecifications FOR add-in adapter (and connected instruments) fails and he can't find the instruments and the self-test fails with a hardware error unknown gpib (-37052).  The watch also neither device VISA Interactive Control.

The ready light is lit on the GPIB-USB adapter and the 8451 flashes green as if nothing is wrong at the end.  I uninstalled all the software of NOR and reinstalled, and I run MAX as an administrator.  Is there possibly some computer settings I could neglect or need to change to open a communication?  Any other ideas on why I can't communicate with devices?
