versions wag160N

You can load the firmware version 2 for a device with version 1?

NO it's not possible to download a firmware Version 2 on your router Version 1. As its specific hardware. If you try to load a firmware version 2 to version 1, so it could corrupt your router and your router will stop working. If its best to load the firmware version 1 on your router.

Another time in the digital display.

For centuries now, I was building RPM using the model. It just dawned on me that I could use the chroot simulacrum and build the image of firmwar i386.

It worked because I got a bin firmware out of the process. I have not yet tested however.

    How I did it?

    yum install mock

then set up an i386 env

    mock - init - r fedora-8-i386

Then, you can connect to the chroot use model - r fedora-8-i386 shell

Directories live somewhere like/var/lib/mock and you can add missing rpms using

    mock - init - r 8-fedora-i386 - install RPMNAME

check using model for more information

make a model - clean - r fedora-8-i386 when done to pack immediately. Be sure to move the firmware into normal space before you do that!

Everything what I need to do now is to determine how to add telnet or ssh takes, and I'll be on stage closer to useful modem/router.

  • WAG160N, Windows 7 download problems

    There are 3 phones home

    -Acer, Vista 32-bit

    -Lenovo SL500, Win 7 64 bit

    -MSI VR330, Win 7 32 bit

    All laptops connects via WiFi.

Acer with Vista has no problem with the download. I can download 1 MB in gmail, flickr, friendfeed.

The other two with Win 7 cannot download files + 1 MB in gmail, flickr and friendfeed.

    Nod 32 installed all 3 a.

Lenovo is my main computer. I disabled the firewall, Nod32, the modem firewall, but nothing has changed! As Vista can download there must be some compatibility issues! With the help of ethernet also does not help.

Should I upgrade to Vista just to keep the WAG160N?

    I don't think so.

    It is a ridiculous problem.

I have enough problems of connection of wag160n and intend to return it and get a lot less another modem of brand.

Today, I wanted to follow a different path and started to uninstall suspicious software, one by one:
    (1) uninstall the IE8, nothing has changed
    (2) Unisntall the flash plugin, nothing has changed
    (3) uninstall the Nod32, PROBLEM SOLVED!

So, I learned that the disabling of anti-virus software does not stop.
I'm glad that this problem is related to a 3rd party software, not the hardware or the operating system.

    NOD32 version: 4.0.468.0

  • WAG160N will not connect to NAS

Laptop connected wireless to WAG160N, running Windows 7.

Desktop computer Windows XP connected by cable to the ethernet port on WAG160N,

I have a storage device (Vantec Nexstar Lx Ultra) network connected by cable to a port ethernet on the WAG160N.

Both machines have Norton 360 Version 3 Prem

The Office takes up the NAS no problem.

The laptop cannot pick up the NAS at all. I tried juggling setting Norton but don't really know what Im doing. The strange thing is, when I plug the phone in via a cable to the WAG160N then SIN comes and works without any problem at all.

There on the WAG160N that need to be changed to allow a laptop that connects wireless to connect to the NAS?

Since your laptop are you able to Ping SIN? If Yes, then your, click Start - RUN - type laptop computer "\\NAS IP" and press enter and when you are prompted for the user name and password, type the NAS username and password, and click OK... and he will show you the folder that you shared on your NAS, right click on it and select 'Map network drive' and below check the "Reconnect at logon" box and click Finish.

Once its done, it maps the drive on your computer and you should be able to transfer the file to your NAS.

  • Problem with wag160N router wireless

Hi all. Sorry for the typos etc I am new in the forum :-). Please, if the subject has moved to another subforum do it.

So, here's the problem: last week, I bought the WAG160N wireless-N adsl2 + modem router (version 2) and yestreday I formatted my laptop 2, so today I decided to install a new one.

I work 2 hours on it now, but still I can't find a solution. I started with the first cd, as required by the guide. Everything works well until the installation wizard step that attempts to connect to the router. At this point, he's looking for 5 minutes and then he said that he is not able to communicate with the router and wonder to check the connection again. I connected everything as it should (the gray wire of telephone jack to the socket of the router that says DSL, cable - ethernet - yellow of Gate 1 of the router ethernet for the laptop and then the AC/DC to the router and power.) I click next to the installation wizard, then he said to the power on the router... I do it and it checks then 5 minutes and again, he says that can't find it and tell me to double check and the story goes like this. I made 6 - 7 times but nothing. I also used the netwotk magical Wizard that was installed to fix the problem (because it recognizes that there is connection problem), but is not able to set in! What should I do? The ISP said that they don't sell Linksys products for their stores (I do not know the ISPS work on other countries, here they sell routers, adsl packs ect in their store) so they can't provide me with support. Can someone help me? Its the first time I use a linksys for me product and I don't know how to install it without the cd.

I use windows vista pre sp2 on two laptops.

I must also say that I have no problem with the ethernet connection the baudtec my ISP gave in the pack, that I bought when I activated my ADSL (2 years ago). IM connected with it now to view the topic.

Sorry for my bad English and im sore right now that I can't think of what other info you might need, post and I will answer you.

    Thx for reading.

    Hello

Connect your device directly to your pc via ethernet cable.

Try to find the ip address of your device using the arp - a command

Try to ping your router/adsl with address (192.168.1.1) ip of the device. u should get a response, if no response then in your pc check the LAN connection properties and enable DHCP.

If you get always no response to ping the device, try and set an ip address in the range (192.168.1.1 or whatever your ip devices). Now, try to configure the device to cd Wizard help.

    Correct me if im wrong.

This is because it is sometimes cached in your browser or Cookies and how your Internet connection is trying to load the Page, it is simply a Bug in the browser Google Chrome and probably will be fixed on a new version of the browser.

Fix this bug in browser, it's easy because it's because of 3 different things.

    * The first thing to try is go into Options and clicking Reset to default values and refresh the Page or F5 shortcut key to refresh the page you are on Google Chrome.

    * The second error 324 is to simply just restart your Chrome browser.

    * Sometimes, it can be your Internet connection, the cause of error when browsing websites in chrome so just restart your Internet connection.

I hope this helps you solve this problem.

  • Continuous WAG160N dropouts of the internet.

I've owned the annex WAG160N has since a few months now, and it worked perfectly...

But recently, the unit suffers from dropouts to internet every 10-20 minutes of use, with the light RED internet light and "forced" LILY as an indication, and I need to the manual reset the device to restore the connection.

I called the provider (TRUE Internet Co.) and it seems that everything is fine. My computer is a laptop running on Windows 7 with Intel WiFi Link 5100 as a WLAN module.

The firmware of the router is 1.00.15 out of the box, I tried flashing it, restore to the factory settings and reconfigure the settings, the problem is still there.

  • What version of Annex A or Annex B?

I havce a WAG160N is always firmware version V1.00.16 andf I want to update to the latest version.  I saw on http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-eu/support/gateways/WAG160N that there are two versions to download - annex and the Appendix B under the terms of version 2.0.

    What to do?

Thanks (in advance) and I'm sorry if this question was asked before.

    Darren

    1. you can't Flash firmware for hardware v2 on a v1 router. If the label under the router WAG160N then it's WAG160Nv1 and the latest firmware is v1.00.16 for Annex A and v1.00.15 for Annex B.

If the label says WAG160Nv2 then it is a v2 and the last v2.00.20.

You can't Flash firmware on Router v1 v2 or vice versa. It shouldn't work best, but can potentially destroy your router.

    2. Annex depends on your ISP, depending on whether you have DSL over ISDN or ADSL over POTS. In Annex B of Europe is mainly in Germany. Read the wikipedia on the annexes to the ADSL article for further explanation. If in doubt, ask your ISP.

I think that annex that a model has an RJ11 plug for the ADSL connection, while Appendix B has a RJ45.

  • Fall WAG160N WiFi... help please!

    Hi all

I wonder if anyone can help me? I have used Linksys products for years without flaw until a few months ago when my router linksys faithful (wag54G... I think) suddenly developed an incompatible wifi connection. No problem connecting ethenet, but wifi would be nice for a while then die. The wifi network would be visible for a while on my network connections tool, then disappear! Fearing that the router is kaput, I bought a new WAG160N which worked perfectly... for a month. This has now developed the exact same symptom, and I think now the problem could be environmental? The router is well ventilated and it is only used for web browsing, etc.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

    I use Mac OS x 10.6.

Carrot Hi, thanks for your response. I study your suggestion, but I had the same problem with iphones, blackberry, a MacBook and a windows pc. I've since updated the firmware on my router to the latest version (.15 I believe) and everything seems to work very well.

Updates to the firmware on the router appear to be the way to go!

I will present if I have additional problems.

  • WAG160N Firmware

My current firmware version is 1.00.09.  I looked to see if there is a newer version upgrade, but help wonder if my hardware is at version 1 or 2.  I can't find it on the sticker attached to the bottom of the router.  I can establish this is Appendix A, but I don't see a version number of the material.  I noticed that the latest firware for both versions of hardware is different.

    Thank you.

    Best regards, Scott

OK, I may have a solution here.  After messing around for a few hours last night put totally and completely frustrated after my attempts to update the firmware and causing all my wireless devices to not be able to connect I came to the conclusion that firmware update attempts have not succeeded!  I rang the guys to help tech Lynksys for more help.  In any case after the usual diagnostic process as soon as I mentioned, I got a Mac they said right away that you cannot update the firmware from a Mac!  It will work perfectly with a Mac, but you just can't update the firmware using a Mac.  Not sure if this only affects the WAG160N or other models, but it seems now that I have to borrow the machine window a friends to update the firmware on the router and I'd be back in business.  There you go - I guess it's my fault for daring to be different and which deviates from the crowd of Windows!  In any case, I will update once I have completed this process comes to close this thread.
