Very slow to connect to the router WRT400N

I use a Vaio laptop, running Windows 7, which seems to take a period of unusually long connection to one of the two wireless networks configured on this router dual band.  It connects so don't get me wrong, just about 45 seconds to a minute.  My other laptops seem to connect right away, so I'm not sure it's a router problem, but I would like to know.  Any help would be appreciated.

On your windows 7, remove all wireless network profiles and try to connect again.

This doesn't seem to be a signal problem because when the router is found that I get a signal strength full 5 bars. Connection to the laptop the router with a cable shows that no problem also that the connection and internet access is no problem.

    Hi Potter (maybe Harry?)  ;)

You can easily find what WiFi card has been installed in your laptop.
More details can be found in the *-> network adapters Device Manager *.
Check this out and you'll know what driver WLan is required!

This error is known to me, always happens if you n t unpack the BIOS package correctly!

What you need is a WinRAR or WinZip program.
I prefer WinRAR and it helps to unpack all of the BIOS update.

  • Windows 7 Dell computer laptop connects to the router, but the internet connection is spotty/slow

I recently installed a new Comcast wireless gateway, which includes a built-in router.  My Ipod and Ipad work perfectly with this new router connection.  My Dell laptop, however, connects to the router without a problem, but it surfing the internet very slowly and sometimes can't access it at all.  The router connection remains strong during these periods of power failure, however.  I don't get online no problem when I connect directly to the router/modem with an Ethernet cable.  Network troubleshooting does not detect a problem, I have released/updated my IP address, and made sure I had updated drivers.  The issue still [persists.  Any input on what to try next?

    Hello Scot,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

The description of the problem, I see that the Internet connection is very slow on the computer.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. We are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

Maybe there's a chance that some network settings, start services application or a third party or a security software restricted it to connect properly and is responsible for the internet connection is slow.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and see if it helps.

    Method 1

I suggest you try the procedure described in the following Microsoft Article and check if it helps.

Internet Explorer is slow? 5 things to try
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/Internet-Explorer/slow-five-tips-to-boost-performance

Warning: Reset the Internet Explorer settings can reset security settings or privacy settings that you have added to the list of Trusted Sites. Reset the Internet Explorer settings can also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the reset Internet Explorer settings.

    Method 2

If the problem persists, I suggest you to follow the steps described in the following Microsoft tutorial and see if it helps.

    Wireless and wired network problems

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/network-connection-problem-help#network-problems=Windows-7&V1H=win81tab1&V2H=win7tab1&V3H=winvistatab1&v4h=winxptab1

Why is my Internet connection so slow?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/why-Internet-connection-slow#why-Internet-connection-slow=Windows-7

    Method 3

If after performing more high question method persist, try to perform the clean boot and temporarily disable security software and then check the speed of the Internet.

Step 1: Perform the clean boot

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us

Note: See "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as usual after a repair.

Step 2: Temporarily disable security software.

    Disable the antivirus

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attack.

    Method 4

Since then, the issue is not resolved by disabling the security software, Windows Firewall could be the next possibility. So, I suggest, temporarily, disable the Windows Firewall and check if the problem persists.

    Refer to the following steps:

    1. Press the Windows key + R, type firewall.cpl , and press ENTER.
    2. Click turn Windows Firewall on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Click turn off (not recommended) Windows Firewall under each network location that you want to stop trying to protect, and then click OK.

    Caution:

You should not turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall is enabled. Turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers. You must reactivate as soon as you have completed troubleshooting.

For more details, you can see the article mentioned below.

    Enable or disable Windows Firewall

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

  • LaserJet P1102W: Hp p1102w, connect to the router

Printing wireless Dell desktop (Win 8), Dell (8 Win) laptop (Win 7) Dell laptop and rarely with the iPhone 6 and iPad Air.  All are physically within 30 feet of Cradlepoint router MBR95 that is filled to the voice/date Arris TG862g with ISP Comcast modem (20 to 25 Mbit/s on average).  Printing can be VERY slow with documents of modest size.  The printer is physically next to the router that has a USB port.  What should I do to use the HP printer cable to connect to the router to print non-wifi from PC 3?  (I assume that this configuration will solve the slow printing problem.)  And, if so, I'll be able to print also wireless of the iPad and the iPhone?

Looks like your choice on this printer is wireless or USB. It seems not to be an Ethernet connector. USB would require that you want to run the file and printer sharing. Unless your router has a USB connector supported of printer.  You say id has a USB port, so now, you should check this one supports the printers.

Wireless... the printer must be at least 6 feet from your router.

  • Very slow wireless connection

    Hello

I am owner of the Dell Studio 1555 and I Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini Card on my Board. There is a problem when I am connected to my router and Internet runs very slowly. The signal strength is excellent, I use WPA2 encryption. There is no problem to connect to the network, I had just to configure the ipv4 as IP, the door parameters and so on because the automatic setting didn't work. So I run my firefox and google charges pretty okey but slow. It is then impossible to surf because the download speed is something like 1 kb/s. When I plug in the ethernet cable so it's all good. I tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing has changed. I use windows vista. I also tried connection in linux ubuntu system, but same problem occurs. My friend uses a wireless connection of the router same and everything is going well for him. How to speed up the connection?

    Best wishes

    Simon

If you connect the laptop to the router (or the modem) with a cable? If it gives a high speed, you may need to change the channel is using your router. It's probably 11. Replace 1 or 5. Can significantly reduce the interference from other wireless devices connect speeds.

  • 9.3.4 disabled wifi on an Ipad, but it connects to the router. Just don't download at all

IPad was working fine, but I've updated to 9.3.4. Now Wireless does not work. Shows connected to the router, but nothing happens, but say unable to connect to the server, error trying to access the internet or by mail. Also turn continuous flashing VPN gray to green, then again, but we have never set up a virtual private network. Don't know if it is connected. Have you tried

1 disconnection / reconnection to 2 routers that work very well for other devices

2 reset wireless via settings > general > reset > reset network settings and then hang up again

3 airplane mode on, wait a few minutes, then shut off again

Overall, the router will connect to any time, we put the password, but there is no transfer of data. 3 other devices work fine with the router. Don't know where to go from here, or if it is possible to back out from the upgrade. Anyone else having this problem? A research increase the same problem.

    Thank you

Anything that causes the problem is not specifically 9.3.4, which fixes just a security breach. Have you tried to restart routers?

I have another laptop with a USB wireless network too and that works very well.
I was able to connect to the router via the ethernet card.
Been on Netgear, and the router works well.
    Any ideas, anyone please...

    Hello

I guess that your laptop uses the map Intel 2200BG wireless.
You will find a lot of questions and problems with this card intel.
Mainly the graphics driver update will solve these issues.
You can also check the power save mode settings in the properties of the wireless card. Go to the Device Manager, choose the wireless card and go to properties. In the second Advanced tab you should find the Power save mode option. Please switch off (off)

I put t know where you download the driver, but you must use the latest version on the Intel site.

  • Satellite Pro P300 - very slow WiFi connection

Toshibe Satellite Pro P300 with built in the Atheros AR9281 wireless.

    Running Windows 7.

    ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

    BIOS 2.5

All the latest versions of the drivers installed including the driver Atheros 8.0.0.225.0 wireless.

    Wireless is annoying...

Sometimes fails to find the router (Belkin 54g, connected to the Modem cable Motorola (Virgin B/B is the access provider, 10 Mbps)).

When he finds, connects ok, but sometimes it is impossible to browse web pages - just behave as if there is no connection.

Bit torrent works also very slowly (in general 0.5Mbit / s depending on the number of peers etc.). Not a port forwarding issue with the router - using utorrent that indicates that the relevant port is open.

When I connect to the router with an ethernet cable, everything works a treat - much faster and rock solid connection. uTorrent has no hit 10Mbit/s problem at all.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much...

    Alan.

    Hello

You should first check if your BIOS is up to date.
If an older version of BIOS is installed then you could update the BIOS.

It is also advisable to update the installed WLan driver.
Here, you can check the available WLan drivers:

  • Cisco Connect connects to the router E2000

I got an E2000 router, set up and works very well for years. Today, I tried to connect with Cisco Connect, I want to establish a network of separate comments (by the way, if there's a way to do this through the web management interface, please let me know!). However, the software is unable to connect to the router; the progress bar gets to 25%, and then eventually times out. I tried several computers on network, cable and wireless, with the same results. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I solved the problem; I activated the setting "Allow users to set up" in the "Administration" tab, as well as utility access Web via HTTP. I don't know which of these settings did the trick, but I was able to connect and configure the network invited (even from a PC wireless).

  • Unable to connect to the router (BEFSR41 V4.0)

I have a Linksys BEFSR41 (Version 4.0) wired router and I am not able to connect to it. It has been in storage (the top of a closet shelf) for the past two years and when it when it was still used it worked like a pro.

I used the downloaded from the site Web of Linksys router configuration utility to install it, and when it gets to the final stage, he says that it cannot connect to the router. Try to go to 192.168.1.1 translates into a (very long) network timeout.

I have reset the router several times (retained in the for more than 10 seconds reset button) and have had no result. All the lights on the front of the router work normally.

I already checked and I'm set up to get the IP addresses of network automatically rather than assigning a static.

    Any help appreciated,

I tried several times to install this router wireless MO # BEFW11S4.

I get an error message that Setup Wizard cannot connect to the router!

I pressed the reset on the back button each time, it is turned off, check the cable connections between the modem cable to the router, then router to the computer.

After dropping out of the router and connect the PC to the top with the modem, the PC is then connected to the internet once more.

How to solve problems, or isolate the problem as a bad router?

  • Printers HP B110a cannot communicate with the laptop, but both will be connected to the router?

OK, here's an interesting problem that has been banging my brain for hours, one of my friends has a HP Photosmart all in one printer B110a. Now I can get the printer to connect to the wireless router, no problem. Can I also have the phone to connect to the router, the problem is that the printer cannot communicate with the laptop. The router brand and model is the Linksys wrt54g

Now, I took my friends laptop home and tried to see if she could detect my wireless printer model different on my router which is a TP WR340GD I went in devices and printers, and went to Add a printer and Add Printer wireless, it instantly detected my printer via the wireless network. There is no problem on the side of the laptop. I am sure that any firewall on the laptop was turned off when I tried the connected printer.

So now I have my friends printer here with me and decided to try and see if I could detect the HP Photosmart printer All In One Printer on my laptop on my TP WR340GDwireless router. Yet once, it worked perfectly and it has detected the printer and works wireless without fault.

I'm down now to the conclusion that the problem is with my friends router Linksys wrt54g I'm gone in the settings of the router, change the wireless channels, changed security between WEP and WPA/WPA2 and AES AND TKIP wireless and this does not solve the problem.

I can access to the Photosmart B110a: the Web server integrated in a browser ONLY if I have the laptop to the router physically connected by Ethernet cable when trying to access my router from a friend, but I can access through wireless on my router. The problem is probably something very simple that I forgot, but I was more all I can think that I tried to reset harder than the printer cleaned the network settings on the printer as well from the display of the printer menu.

I'm really lost now, someone at - it suggestions?

Hey pcwizard, ok, I checked the router settings and Mac filtering turned on, so I decided to reset the router, it restored to factory settings. Re-Setup wireless and once again I tried, still had no luck with the laptop to communicate with the printer.

in any case, I decided to connect the cable from the printer to the laptop and took the USB to wireless Assistant. As I reinstalled it the printer using the wired method.

He told me that the rules of traffic incoming and outgoing firewall stopped communication between devices and assign port numbers 427-9000 etc.. However, I had turned off all firewall, Windows and Norton 360, which since then, I've replaced with a better anti-virus software.

I went into the settings of the router, port forwarded the application numbers, tried again and is again no luck. I'm usually pretty good with computers, but it was really annoying me. So I went and had a coffee and a brainwave came and I decided to see if my laptop could detect and connect the printer to the router. As soon as I tried it, he finds and the printer has detected immediately.

Then I thought there must be something on my laptop to friends who may be at the origin of the problem, when I looked, I noticed that my friend had the old software Vodafone Mobile Broadband running in the background which was connected to the router.

So I closed and turn it off and tried again adding printer. SUCCESS now detects it and the printer is now communicate and respond with the laptop. I'm guessing that the Vodafone Mobile Broadband have a built-in firewall blocking the communication. However it is strange because it worked without problem on my printer at home, so I wonder if some how blacklisted broadband Vodafone IP address of the printer at a time on their router.

I'm so happy, it's finally done, a lot of hours and work, and after all this time it was * beep * Vodafone.

in any case Pcwizard I thank very much for trying to help, no doubt has given me a few ideas.

    Thanks again!
