• vFoglight storage is extremely slow!

  I'm under vFogStorage (v 1.6) on a virtual machine (vSphere 4.1U1) with 2 vCPU, 6 GB of RAM and 4 vDisk (on a Netapp array with 17x15K SAS drives). The virtual machine itself works well, but vFogStorage is extremely slow and unresponsive for moments.

  I tried using the console installed on the server of vFogStorage and also with the help of the office of the administration remotely.   Currently, there is no associated action alerts vFoglight storage 2.0.  You will need to add the Email action to each of them.

• Need help to create a storage report/monitoring

  vFoglight V 6.1

  So our storage has been really slow lately by some of our virtual machine crawl. Whenever I talk to our team of storage, that they speak for EMC and the answer is BUY new more fast/drives or take VM off the LUNS are getting slammed. Well that's fine, but now I have a few LUNS with more space free 300Gig because they can not will not try and work with me to find a solution.
  I need to create a report and monitor my LUN so that they show that last year the "slowness" was getting worse. Just storage model reports show stats 'space' unless I'm not totally see models of storage performance.
  Y at - there someone here who can lead me in the right direction to create reports of storage/performance problems? Is there some sort of pre canned reports, I do not see or a 'cartridge', I'm missing here?

  The reason why you get n/a, it is that the data do not exist. Queue length data are only available once we deployed agents OS like VMware does not provide this in a meaningful way (I am happy check if you can show me otherwise) monitoring. Disk latency information should however be available but only for the host ESX 4 and vCenter 2.5 U4 and later as this was the point where she became exposed.

• cartridge storage?

• Device Setup - switches and arrays

  I'm trying to configure vFoglight Storage for the first time. I have managed to add the VCs, but cannot configure switches or arrays.
  1 cisco switch receives an error during validation.
  Error 1: Connection Refused: the host refused connection socket on the specified port: usually indicates one of the following values: bad port specified by the user, the application that is supposed to be listening on port isn't listening, port is disabled (e.g. a firewall).
  I am specifying port 23. I can telnet to the switch from the same server using the credentials provided.
  2 Clariion CX4-480 receives an error during validation.

  At this point in the product, it is only for a server with a local US configured when the server is initially created. I don't know when we will have the support of other regional settings.
  If you create a new server and set up initially for a US language it must install and works without a problem.

  Why not wait for vFoglight storage? You give VM in Hardware info!

  Finally, there is a patch for 3PAR berries available which solve this problem by answering requests for SCSI. There are two tasks, one for P37 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 P24.

We manage the ESX 4.1 u1 so we have the VIB:s last support VAAI etc.

  You are right. I got the message of support XIV support VAAI was held for a few weeks because of a problem with it.

  It would also mean that there will be a 10.2.4a or even firmware. We had improvements planned for February 25, but was asked to wait until March 15 for an updated firmware.

  Someone knows how can I make areport of all virtual machines with RDM which will include the managed path LUN id. IS this possible with Vfoglight?

  It is not possible to do with vFoglight. vFoglight storage that offers visibility deeper into physical storage could achieve this functionality in a future release.

  I would like to know if anyone has used the SSD-Fibre channel SAN in the virtualization environment, if so I would like to have some feedback on performance and other factors that are both Pro & Con.

  Some tables also make better use of than other SSDS.  3Par tables can move data between levels based on real models of IO observed.  I know that some EMC bays can use as a second layer of cache.

  You should contact the supplier of your table to discuss.

  I'm running on more than one host ESX 3.5 U5 and connected to a San for 3Par, HP EVA 3000 3Par is instruct change me my default value 80, maximum of 200 Scsi.ConflictRetries (referenced in this article VM: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1020366 ) until my OS SAN upgrade is complete next week.

  I am trying to determine if there are negative side effects to this change. How this will affect my HP SAN?

  Increase Scsi.ConflictRetries will not have the negative effects of your San.

  The option is used to set the number of attempts THAT HBA is to acquire the lock on LUN for every write operation done to the SCSI.

  About 40 GB of storage used on my mac - makes no sense that I do not use this computer for films or images - just for internet and writing. We already have a projector comb with the hard drive. Any ideas before support again. Very curious.
