vga and hdmi to a monitor connection

My question is, hang both HDMI and VGA will harm my computer new HiDef screen.  I want to connect two computers to a single monitor.   An old Emachine has only VGA output monitor and my new Dell has HDMI and VGA.  There are programs on the emachine that does not work on the new 64-bit Dell, and I do not have space for two monitors, so I want to connect both to a single monitor.  If I only use one computer at the same time it will damage the nice new monitor - I don't want to do that.  Thanks for help.

If the other computer is DISABLED, then this should work. Even if it is not it will not damage your screen.

  • Latitude 6430u - cannot simultaneously VGA and HDMI output

We have just received our first batch of 25 Latitude 6430u (2 lots more on the way), and we were surprised that he doesn't at the same time a VGA and HDMI video output. GPU Intel HD4000 said that it should be possible. Someone successfully obtained several monitors working with this device? We lack Windows 8 Enterprise with Dell drivers.

    Sigh,

It seems that the 6430u uses a LVDS connector instead of an eDP, so the Intel HD 4000 can't handle 3 independent displays. LAME.

  • SL300 and HDMI. External monitor goes black for 2 to 5 seconds then picture comes back

    Hello

When you use the external monitor with my SL300, the screen off for 2 to 5 seconds, then reappear. It does this perhaps once every two days. Sometimes this happens much more often. And then it's very annoying. When the image reappears, the HDMI signal indicator (monitor is BenQ 2400W) is displayed in the screen.

I tried different cables without change. My PS3 connected to my screen via hdmi cable and it works fine.

Any idea what the problem might be?  I think its my SL300 signal loss but wanted to see if anyone else had this experience?

    My hardware:

    BenQ 2400W (1920 x 1200)

    SL300, Intel graphics version

I "solved" this problem by using the following cable HDMI to DVI instead of HDMI-HDMI cable:

    http://www.DealExtreme.com/details.DX/SKU.2703

Every single HDMI-HDMI cable gave these power cuts. According to Lenovo support, it is probably a driver related problem.

  • IdeaCentre K450 'no signal' with monitors (VGA and HDMI)

I bought a K450 (of Jack online of lenovo, handed to nine) in December. I have an Acer H226HQL 21.5 "monitor at the same time and put in place all at once. I used the VGA cable to connect the monitor. Everything worked perfectly until a few weeks ago. I went to wake the computer and the screen remains black. I pressed the power button to turn off completely and turn it on again, 'no signal' stil on the monitor. I tried to use the HDMI cable with the acer and the old monitor of 8 years of my last office (with VGA cable) and still no signal. Checked the power strip, it works fine. I am at a loss!

I ran updates on firmware for everything, including the graphics, when I put the computer. I would check on the firmware for the graphics card, but it is difficult to without a working screen. In addition, do not know if this is relevant at all, but it was running windows 8.1.

Is there anything else I can do to fix this?

    Thank you!!

  • How can I use two DVI and HDMI outputs for monitors?

I have a 55 inch LG TV connected to my PC via an HDMI cable. I recently bought a HP 2311 x flatscreen monitor and want to connect using DVI.  But when both are plugged into the PC automatically turns off the DVI output, and switches automatically to use the HDMI that my TV is turned on.  Is it possible that I can have the two outputs working both on my pc?

  • No signal found by HDMI or DVI monitor. Monitor detects the VGA signal very well.

That is the problem. I used to get a signal from the HDMI cable or the cable DVi on my old monitor.  Then, the signal was there sometimes, and then it isn't.  Now my new monitor does not have an HDMI or DVI signal.  He finds the signal to the VGA and that works.  Any ideas?  Myself and a few others have no idea on how to solve this problem >

    Hello, billiardsnut

You use a DVI or HDMI adapter?

Assuming you are using a straight DVI-> DVI or HDMI-> HDMI Cable, try to turn off the computer and turn off the monitor, connect the DV or HDMI, then turn them both.

Some video cards will not dynamically change on its own, following the steps above will generally establish the proper output.

In addition, since you mention on your old monitor that it is intermittent, it might be that the digital (DVI/HDMI) port on your graphics card is a failure.

  • HP2311 VGA/DV-I wide LCD monitor

Can I connect my old computer HP315 VGA and my new p6733w/DVI at the same time? I'm loading files from the old to the new thanks to an external hard drive.  I would like to be able to switch between VGA and DVI on the monitor and each computer show on the screen, not at the same time.

Yes, it's what the input switch is for. Cannot connect the computers/etc for all entries, then press the button on the front to pass between them. Conduit is a puzzle, and you have not!

  • Monitor connected via HDMI to VGA connector does not

My Pavilion p6598uk has an ATI Radeon HD5450 with a DVI and HDMI output. I have a monitor connected to the DVI output via a VGA Converter thing, it works very well. I am trying to connect a second display on the HDMI output using HDMI cable to VGA. This does not at all. It is an OLD monitor (10 years) but works ok if I plug it into the DVI/VGA Converter.

Monitor just says no: «No sighnal video» I tried 2 different cables and my drivers are up to date.

Is it possible to connect an old (not HD) monitor to the HDMI output? If so, what am I doing wrong? Would this work if I bought a new HD TV to use as a monitor?

    Windows 7 64 bit

    All solutions gratefully received.

You cannot convert HDMI to VGA without some serious gear digital analog conversion. You cannot use a device simple passthough like you can do with a DVI-I/VGA cable adapter. You will need to use an HDMI cable and a monitor that has a HDMI or DVI - I/D connector.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium does not start and an external monitor connected via DVI to HDMI Cable

I have a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop computer with a NVIDEA GeForce 8400 GS video card.  This video card has the following outputs: DVI, VGA and S-video.  When I connect it to my computer via the VGA port to PC to my Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR4 monitor port, the machine starts perfectly.  If I connect via a HDMI cable to one of the HDMI monitor DVI ports, the screen displays the video BIOS, but turns black when the operating system begins to load.  If I connect another monitor to the VGA port, yet once the machine boots fine, but if I connect the monitor to the computer and the Sony Bravia, once again the machine does not start.  The strange thing is that if I boot with only the connected computer screen and then plug the DVI to HDMI cable, then Windows 7 sees the Sony Bravia monitor very well, and I can extend the desktop.  If the machine mode 'sleep', both monitors work very well to wake up the PC.  So, if the Sony Bravia is connected alone or with the computer screen, the machine does not start (the screen will display 'go black' when the OS starts to load.)  I tried to run Windows in Mode safe, but he won't either.  I have all the updates of Windows applied and have installed the latest drivers from nVidea so.

    Hey Chris,

First of all, about climbing, is not a technical support; This is a community forum where MS moderator and contributors are involved.  Now to your question ~

It's very strange that the PC does not start when this unit is connected, but works fine when connected after the fact.  I've seen several cases where a hardware configuration of uinsusal will prevent a PC to boot.  I think that the culprit may be DVI to HDMI Cable that you are using.  If I were you, I try to connect the PC to a DVI monitor and see if it boots normally.  Also, see if the monitor can prevent another PC to start when it is connected directly via the HDMI.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

  • How can I restore signal from my Mac Pro to my Viewsonic monitor, connected by VGA?

I have a Pro Mac OSX version 10.7.5 running. Trendy top is a monitor 24 inch Viewsonic, the only monitor connected. Last week, everything was fine. I stopped him all night and the next morning, when I tried to start, there was no signal from the Mac to the screen.

The screen displays a 'No Signal' message.

I checked the entry on the monitor, and it is correctly set to PC.

The computer starts normally. I can hear him do his thing.

The monitor starts up normally. No flashing or spots.

I tried restart, disconnect the monitor from the computer, just stop and unplug it, then reconnected. I tried to plug the old monitor (using VGA connection) and start again, with the same result.

I tried to recall the NVRAM (found the instructions on this site) and it made no difference.

It would be appropriate to get a HDMI cable to connect the?

It seems to me that if the computer does not recognize the monitor, try another cable wouldn't make any difference, but I'm really an 'end user' at this stage and would appreciate any advice.

Please help I really can't respond directly to google

    Hello era Kantoku.

NO it used to work and its not backward compatible.

HDMI is a pure solid digital signal and analog VGA . A passive cable will not work for this conversion.

You need an active adapter specifically for the digital conversion analog.

This adapter has received good reviews on Amazon. Look for something like this...

  • Problem of two - VGA and Displayport monitors

    Hello

We have recently purchased a number of machines Thinkcentre M58 and have problems to make two monitors to work with these machines. We are setting them up with a monitor to the VGA port and a 2nd monitor connected to via a Displayport adapter Displayport to VGA dongle.

The problem is that the 2nd monitor on Displayport don't wake up. MESSAGE appears on the monitor 1, and when Windows has loaded, only the 1st monitor displays a screen, while the 2nd monitor remains in mode 'sleep'.

In display settings, it is possible to activate the 2nd monitor, how he wakes up and the user can continue to use both screens. If the user stops or restarts the machine it takes to manually activate the 2nd monitor whenever they connect.

The same thing happens on Windows XP and Windows 7 computers, and I also tried to use a number of different instructors, who all have the same problem.

Someone else had problems to get the 2nd monitor on the Displayport works correctly? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    Phil

Make sure that you set the main display on the displayport device and then connect your vga port.

  • HP 251-a123w: I have a Setup dual monitor using VGA and DVI - D ports?

I want to connect my HP 22uh monitor to my office using a DVI - D to DVI - D configuration.  Then I would like to complete a Setup dual monitor by connecting an Acer X193w monitor to my office using a VGA VGA configuration.

Is this possible?  Two ports on my desktop computer can be used at the same time to support dual monitor?

I see that the cables double monitor are in the form of Y and I thought that maybe a single port may be used simultaneously.  If someone knew this information then it would save some time & money on experimentation...

Monitor HP 22uh was bundled with my new desktop PC and I cleaned the Acer to my now deceased Vista system.  It is in very good condition, would like to add.

According to the technical specifications of HP for your PC, both of these jacks can be used at the same time.

    Good luck
