VI3 - VMware vCenter Foundation of Vsphere 4

Hi all

I bought the VI3 with VMware vCenter Foundation, and now the infrastructure is ready for installation.  The server is compatible with vSphere 4 and I m thinking that it is better to install the vSphere 4.

My question is: I have the license to use the VMware vCenter Foundation 3, what is the upgrade path to Vsphere 4? Where can I check if I have the right use vSphere VI3?

Where can I check if I have the right use vSphere VI3?

If your product is under SnS you have the new license code for vSphere.

Check under License Web Portal to see if you have the new series.

    1. is VMware vCenter Server 4 Foundation for backward compatible product vSphere with VMware ESX Server 3.5?

2 If no, then is it a similar product of VMware, which is compatible with VMware ESX Server 3.5?

    Please notify.

VMware vCenter Server Foundation 4.0 can handle up to 3 vSphere or legacy hosts.  If you need to manage more than 3 guests, you should definitely consider vCenter Server Standard edition.

  • vSphere installed... what VMware vCenter?

    Hello

After a day or two fiddling with the material, I finally got updated vSphere environment

and I Win2008R2 installed on a virtual machine and a Linux Server installed on another.

[LongStory short: motherboard does not support the CPU.]  Bought the new motherboard and

that solved the problem of 2008 R2 cannot be installed on the

    machine.]

Va-the < http://*LocalIP* > on my browser, I see that I need to download VMware vCenter.

I click on "Download VMWare vCenter" and I am led to this page:

    http://downloads.VMware.com/d/

There are 10 + VMWare vCenter products and which confuses me.  Which one

the "Download VMWare vCenter" refers to?

BTW, vSphere 4.1 is released.  But there are references to vSphere v5.0 (with a new

    authorisation scheme).  When released v5.0?

    Thank you

    Ed

    Hi Ed,

So what you're saying is that what follows is identical: vCenter operations, CapacityIQ, Lifecycle Manager, Site Recovery Manager, Director of the lab, Server Heartbeat, Configuration Manager?

No, it is certainly different products. I understand you asked what link you can download "vCenter Server.

And in order to install the vCenter , I need also a SQL Server?   In an earlier thread, it was mentioned that SQL Server Express is installed if I hadn't SQL Server (which I did not)?

During installation, you can decide whether to use an existing SQL Server install SQL Express. The recommendation is to use SQL Express only for environments with up to 5 ESXi servers and/or 50 virtual machines.

vCenter Server can be installed on a Windows physical system or a virtual machine (it is recommended to install in a virtual machine). To access and manage the "VirtualCenter Server", you need to install the "vSphere Client' on the client system and connect the vCenter Server with it.

    Thank you

vSphere Client is a client software to manage all the infrastructure via vCenter Server or stand-alone ESX/ESXi server.

vCenter is a dedicated management server.

Our web customer support is for vSphere 5.5 only. Please make sure it's the version of vCenter that you run.

"If you are on 5.5 check if there are two plugin files in C:/ProgramData/VMware/vSphere Web Client/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity /" If there is, we have seen that removing the oldest file and restarting the blank Server fixed this issue.

  • VMware vCenter living is no longer working with Acronis Backup Advanced, Help!

Hello everyone, I hope this ad in the right area of im, I'm looking for some advice on what could be causing my question about integration using the byproducts, I am struggling to find something on the net that relates exactly to my problem so have resorted to forums to see if anyone has tips or ideas , like im fresh out of them now!

    • VMware Client & Server Version 5.5.0 - (VMware vCentre Server Build 1476327)
    • Acronis advanced backup (Version 11.5 - update 5)

Since November the synchronization / VMware vCenter integration between the 2 products above seems to have stopped working correctly, which means that any change in the location of the VM machines in the VMware customer environment is not reflected in Acronis more.

For example, when you move a virtual machine to a folder on a particular data center to another folder in the same Datacenter, this change should be so reflected in the Acronis, what is happening is no longer.

In addition, when a virtual machine brand new is created in vSphere and is placed in the appropriate Center of data/file structure, this should (and working correctly until November) fill with Acronis 'vcentre' host Group that has the folder structure equivalent to pick up the plans for appropriate backup etc, but this happens is no longer, instead , the only way that you can see the new VM is under "all Virtual Machines.

In addition, when removal of vSphere VM, also not being properly reflects Acronis more, when go in "All Virtual machines" these deleted machines are still show while intoxicated. But these machines no longer exist in vSphere, this shouldn't show Acronis more. Without doubt, this is connected to vCenter integration issues.

Here are the steps I took to try to solve this problem

    • Disable/re-enabling integration with the server vCentre.
    • Restarting the Server Service on the management of Acronis Acronis license server
    • Reset all motors of unloading and the virtual machine.
    • Acronis and vCentre servers restarting.
    • A reconstruction complete the Acronis server and all subsequent config, etc. backup plans.

After the last point (reconstruction of Acronis) integration has worked for a few days, then it stopped working again!

If anyone has any ideas or possible causes, could you please let me know.

Here are a few details of what was the root cause of the problem:

Each VM in vSphere contains a list of parameters such as:

    InstanceUUID

    locationID

    guestFullName

The problem arises because some of the virtual computers contains a copy of the values of these parameters (name, value). Thus, in order to update the database of AMS, we execute the SQL query with these settings, but when 2 or more of the virtual computers contains the same parameters, the SQL query fails > This is why the changes were not reflected and it was not possible to update the vCenter folder structure.

The developer removed then duplicate values enable and disable the vCenter integration, by doing this it was able to resolve the problem.

  • What is the use of Vmware vcenter device? and when it can be used? is it free?

Hi guys - when can we see VMware vcenter device an option? Is it free?

Is that it is contemporary with the linux version of VMware vcenter windows version with Sql express?

When we use this? Why not to choose windows VMware Vcenter license version if it is available for free? (up to max. 5 hosts and VM 50 s for how long we can use this in our environment)

    Kind regards

    Abhishek Singh

According to me, there's no difference between vCenter through windows & device licenses.

You will get vCenter license (as a whole) and now its your choice to deploy vCenter either on windows or deploy the same form of appliance. Once deployed, you must apply the license.

If you opt for the vCenter Foundation, you will get the same set of features you deploy the VC under windows or as an appliance. It is the same for the standard vCenter license. If you deploy on windows, you need windows license as well.

  • I did a stupid thing: I suspended "vmware vCenter Server Appliance" and now I can't connect to it more

    Hello

First some info on our system. We have a group of three hypervisors and a few terabytes of storage on two devices of Synology. VCenter Server allows us to control everything. This vCenter is accessible via a dedicated ip address. Then I opened my 5.5 vSphere client on my workstation, check the name and credentials of the vCenter and hup I can admin everything.

Now, what I did with my sleepy head? I suspended the so-called "unit of vmware vcenter server. And my vsphere client lost my connection with the server vCenter Server immediately.

    I can't ping this address ip-plus.

I'm afraid that ssh is disabled.

Installed on virtual machines seemed well-oiled, I can access it by using RDP. So no worries for employees using them.

So I would like to be able to restart this device "vmware vcenter server" but I don't know how to do it.

All useful ideas would be nice.

And Yes, it's a really stupid mistake.

    Thank you

Point your client vSphere host your vCenter ON VM's.  You can then start the VM vCenter.

  • Activate the VCA Mode of VMware vCenter Server Appliance

    Hello

I'm pretty new on vSphere.  I have two hosts running esxi 5.1 what one of these hosts running the "VMware vCenter Server Appliance' with vSphere version 5.5.  I currently have a single cluster containing all the VMS as well hosts and the SAN.

I try to activate the EVC mode, but when I try it tells me that the host is not allowed because there are powered on virtual machines.  I can turn off all the virtual machines except the vCenter device and I still get the problem on the host that has the device on it.  If I turn off the unit, I can't use vSphere to activate CVS.

How can I activate CVS when vSphere does not work?

    Thank you

    Jeff

    Hi Welcome to the communities,

This one is a bit complicated

    You have:

    1. turn off all VMs on Host1 (while vCenter device is on Host2)

2 bring Host1 on Cluster, select CVS clustered.

    3. put all the virtual machines on Host2 (also vCenter device)

    4. connect on Host2 directly to vSphere Client Windows

    5. remove the vCenter inventory unit

    6. connect on Host1 directly to vSphere Client Windows

    7. the data store when the appliance and add it to the inventory of research. Power on

    8. connect the device with Web client or vSphere vCenter

    9. move the second host in the cluster

    And you're done
