Video codec support

I am new to video editing so any help is appreciated. When I go to play im Premiere Elements, it says that I don't have the right compressor/decompressor (codec) installed. The title of the video is M4H00325 .wmv (1) if it is of any help. I had a company named IYogi 'fix' my computer and since I had problems with the download and look at pretty much everything. Thanks for the help.

What the video from your camcorder, turning into a WMV?

You should not be captured this video with Windows Media Player.

You should use first elements get the media / Hard Drive Camcorder to download the video to your computer. He should then edit easily in a project that is set up for the camcorder JVC - GZ.

Media Player cannot play, need to video codec not installed.  What codec?  Where do I get it? How to install it?

    Hello

The video codec that is required to decode and display the video can not be installed on your computer.

Today, there are hundreds of audio and video codecs in use. Some were created by Microsoft, but the vast majority of codecs have been created by other companies, organizations or individuals. By default, the Windows operating system and the player includes a number of the most popular codecs, such as MP3, Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video.

    Method 1.
How to determine what codec is installed and how to install it automatically?
    a. to determine what codec was used with a specific file, play the file in the player, if possible. When the file is playing, right-click the file in the library, and then click Properties.
    b. on the file tab, look at the sections of video codec and Audio codec.
Download and install the Codecs by going to the PLAYER tab and check.
    c. connect you to the Internet and Download Codecs automatically.
For more information about codecs, see the articles below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/codecs-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2.
If you know the name of the codec or its ID (called a id FourCC for video codecs or a WaveFormat identifier for audio codecs), try the search on the Internet. Often, you can go to the codec manufacturer's Web site to download the latest version of a codec.

  • Update the video Codec - Windows 7

I have windows 7 and you must update video codecs, specifically WMVideo Decoder DMO, version 6.3.9600.17238

I currently have version 6.1.7601.18221. According to me, the filmmaker uses this codec to encode the videos that I do. I think this codec is making my videos much darker, so they should be.

Where can I download these codecs?

    Hello

Please keep us updated on the status of the issue and apologize for the delayed response.

I would like to inform you that if you know the name of the codec or its ID (called a id FourCC for video codecs or a WaveFormat identifier for audio codecs), try searching the Internet using your favorite search engine. Often, you can go to the codec manufacturer's Web site to download the latest version of a codec.

I am unable to play the video file and get the error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer."

Can someone help me how to solve this problem. Thank you

May be that the video file format is not compatible with Windows Media Player.

    Options: -.

1] download and install VLC Player. It's free and supports file formats more than WMP.

2] download and install the codecs

Personally, I prefer VLC Player-if you have that then not need to download and install the codec of any third party.

  • Remove video codecs for wmp 12?

Anyone know if there is a way to remove video codecs for wmp 12?

    Hi Jds1966,

    1. why you try to uninstall the video codec?
2 are you face any problem of video playback?
    3. you receive an error message?
Yes, you can uninstall the video codec to your computer.
First of all, try these steps below:
    a. go to tools.
    b. click on options.
    c. click the Plugins tab.
    d. here you have the plugin displayed in each category.
If it is not displayed, then we you must uninstall the software that makes the codec installed like nero, roxio, divx, quicktime, etc.
You can also determine what codec was used with a specific file, play the file in the player, if possible. When the file is playing, right-click the file in the library, and then click Properties. On the file tab, look at the sections of video codec and Audio codec.

Then you can uninstall any installed codec and install that you need to do the job file.

If you have several codec for the single file to work they can clash and cause problems.

I currently have Windows 8.  However, when I try to play a seminar online on the internet, I get the following message is displayed:

Windows Media Player can not play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer.

Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this problem?

    Please and thank you!

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums.

I understand that you are not able to play a Webinar on the windows computer using Windows Media Player 8.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

1 you get an error code or the name of the codec to install?

    2. are you able to play other files with Windows media player?

    3. What are the file format of the multimedia files that you are not able to play using Windows media player?

    4. are you referring to the video file saved using Webinar?

This problem is caused if the file format is not supported by windows media player.

Codec compresses or decompresses media files. Windows media player uses codecs to play and create media files.

See the link below for the types of files supported by windows media player.

  • Export to AVI with WMV9 video codec

I installed the codec WMV9 on my PC and be able to export with MMV9 codec avi files using virtualdub.  I would do the same thing using Premiere pro.  However, when I chose the format avi, WMV9 codec does not appear on the list of the available video codecs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First doesn't support wmv in an avi wrapper.

  • Best video codec without loss of prerenders of cartoon with alpha

Hey guys.  I have done a lot of research on this but still can not find a satisfactory solution.

I have hundreds of comps I prerender and re - use on a regular basis.  These compositions are simple solid colors, cartoons, character animation.  They contain a LOT of space, with the image composed of only a small part of the frame.  This is necessary for all line up in the end.  I must be able to decode these prerenders on Mac and Windows, but it's OK if they can only be encoded on the Mac.  I need for a fast codec for decoding, but I don't like how much time it takes to encode them.  I don't like which is the container, but Quicktime seems to be the best container that supports the AE.

After many tests, the only reasonable formats, that I could find were:

    ProRes 4444

    Animation

I tried DnxHD, PNG (Quicktime), PNG (Image sequence) and all other variants ProRes (with a separate film for alpha).  DnxHD does not work because it does work to fixed sizes and peaks out at 1920 x 1080.  All other variants ProRes do not work because they do not have alpha, and when I use a separate ProRes for Alpha rendering, there are artifacts on the edges.  PNG to QuickTime is much too slow to decode, and the files are larger than the Animation.  Using image sequences is a pain to maintain and seems to be slower as well.  I wish I could try codecs like HuffYuv and Lagarith, but they are not supported on Mac.

ProRes 4 x 4 would be perfect, but I have no need of 16-bit color.  Animation is the fastest codec, but produces files that are too big.  75% quality, it produces smaller than ProRes files, but introduces artifacts.

I was wondering if there is a 8-bit with alpha codec that anyone would recommend for this.

Also, I wonder if using a single, very long Quicktime files are faster for AE to use that much more short Quicktime files.

    Thank you

    Bryan

You must take another look at PNG... the video codec of QT, in other words: it indeed does support alpha channels!  In general, the size of the files is a bit smaller than the Animation, is a 10-bit codec.  As Animation, there is also no loss.

I can't speak to the length of the file.  It depends on what is happening in the animation, and how you plan to use.

  • Firefox, HTML5 video and support.

I have a video I put on one of my sites. I intend to launch tomorrow, regardless.

Video works fine in Internet Exploder 7 and 8, because I put a Flash object there after both first source descriptions. But the following code will not work with Firefox:

    < video width = "640" height = "480" controls >

    < source src = 'path-to/new_movie.mp4' type = video/mp4"; codecs = "avc1.42E01E, mp4a.40.2" ">"

    < source src = 'path-to/new_movie.ogv' type = video/ogg"; codecs = 'theora, vorbis' ">"

    < / video >

I understand that you have to first show the .mp4 or mobile browsers (which I checked) not loading not video. And I got it taken Firefox supported the free Ogg Vorbis video.

I get a grey box in Firefox (version 9.0.1) with a "loading" symbol (that never stops).

Should I use another 'wrapper' or codec for Firefox? Anyone know?

    That is the problem.

My necessary .htaccess file a few lines of code. All other browsers read file .ogg very well, although those with the video .mp4 support saw this and we were happy.

Here's what I had to do.

    Open Dreamweaver.

    Look at the remote server.

Download (or 'get') the .htaccess file.

Opejn the .htaccess file in Dreamweaver (mode code only for these types of documents, of course).

Add the following three lines of code to the .htaccess doc:

    AddType audio/ogg .oga

    AddType video/ogg .ogv

    AddType application/ogg OGG

Download or 'put' the file on the remote server.

Instantly, Firefox could see. Ogg video. Without that, it does work in Firefox. I have no idea why all other browsers will play the video in Ogg and Firefox won't unless you do this. The folks at Mozilla was told that a "text" file has been handed over, but apparently Chrome knew just what he was.

My Fire Fox download video in support not detected on you tube. It is always shows only the first video that i was downloaded.pls help

I don't think there is much you can do about it outside the use of workaround to reload the page until this problem is corrected.

There is this bug on this problem:

I don't know if other extensions download suffer from this issue, as well, so you can try a little more try the website of the add-on and if possible use a different format like WebM, if they are available.

Also note that not all videos are downloaded and registered correctly. Some may have a size of 0 bytes and fail to download, so, best is to check in downloads of the toolbar Manager in the drop-down list to make sure that the file size is correct (i.e. neither 0 bytes, but a more likely size).

YouTube streaming makes changes to the code and the way its web pages work, so extensions can fail at any time.
