View files and directories on a remote system (RIO) on a host (PC)

Hello

Please assume that we discuss software based on the example of standard project "Labview FPGA control on Compact RIO." The host is an initiation LV14 ongoing fall of running PC, the remote system is a sbRIO-9636 having a USB HDD and SD card. The objective is the control of the process. The control process is not relevant to the question.

That question is on the implementation of the following functionality: the user operates a host running a user Labview vi (UI Main.vi) the interface locally on the host computer. Part of this vi should offer the user built in dialogue (some express vi or another) or custom dialog (a vi to measure on request). The dialogue should display the directories and files on the remote system that is running RT Main.vi and it must allow the user to select a single XML file on the remote system (which contains generic configuration information). The file name is passed then to the remote system and the remote system will act to open and fill out a few configuration variables.

I'm sure that a widely used solution exists for this problem but I have not found the right words to type in my favorite search engine and yet to produce the result. I propose the following:

(1) the user clicks on a button "select config file" Main.vi UI

(2) the place of event loop UI Main.vi a message on the main message queue of the UI based on the event value caused by the modifier key

(3) the UI Main.vi enqueues message loop a separate message on the stream from the network "user interface control flow '.

(4) the Main.vi RT, RT loop - UI Commands.vi Subvi receives the message from the stream and places it on the message Main.vi RT queue

(5) the message Main.vi RT loop performs some functions to read disk, directories and filenames of the RT system structures

(6) name of file and directory (5) data are converted to a variant and went with an appropriate message in the network of RT writer stream

(7) the Main.vi UI periodically reads the stream network of RT writer (it's in the 'monitoring loop') and place the message received (6) in the queue of messages in the user interface

(8) the message queue of the user interface main filled the main façade of the UI with the data

(9) the user selects the directory and the file they want and click on an ok"" button.

(10) the causes of button click ok the event loop of the main UI to place a message in the queue of messages of UI Main.vi due to the expectancy value change on the ok button

(11) the places UI Message Loop a message on the stream from the network "User interface control flow" with the selected file name of the selected file as the data (stored as Variant)

(12) the RT Main.vi, RT loop - UI Commands.vi Subvi receives the message from the stream and places it on the message Main.vi RT queue

(13) the RT Main.vi message loop opens the XML file and populated the appropriate variables with the configuration options that are there.

The user must be able to cancel the dialog and avoid using a configuration file, but I have not delt with it here.

Now for the questions:

(1) is this a logical approach?

(2) are there any suggestions for a better way?

(3) all links to pre-written code that will allow to me impliment all or a part of this with minimal effort (I am referring to dialog bit rather than the forest of streams and events network as these structures still exist and have a lot of custom code in them)?

Thank you

James

I do something like that, but as the interaction of the user on the host, I keep the Configuration files also on the host.  This saves a few steps:

  • Host opens VI of dialogue saying "Choose Configuration file", pointing to the location designated on the host.
  • The user selects a Configuration file.
  • Host bed data packets to send to remote files.
  • The host sends Message 'Configuration' with the previous step Configuration data remotely.
  • Remote control receives the message and any Configuration configures automatically, possibly to send message 'I'm Ready' return home.

All I/o file consists of the host, and only a single host remote message must be sent.

  • sharing files and attributes Office offices remotely

I use my xp remote desktop to connect to three win 2003 Server DW1 and DW2 DW3. Because they all have enough similar content that it can become a bit confusing, so I thought I would use a different color for each office. But then I found that when I open them again, they all had the same color of desktop as a last that I've changed. Then I noticed that the names of computers changed in Solution Explorer, for example DW1 was now called DW2 etc. (but the remote window showed always DW1). So I thought I would put a text file on the desktop of each titled "It's DW1.txt", "it's DW2.txt" etc. But then text files started appearing on the machines incorrectly, for example DW1 was now a text file "TIS DW1" as a text file "is DW2" and DW2 had only a file called 'it's DW1 I tried to connect the machines using IP addresses instead of names, but they always do the same thing. It's as if all three machines somehow share files desktop and attributes. Any idea what goes wrong?

  • Deleting the hidden files and directories draining

My son recently gave my wife his old office.  His run of Windows XP.  I went in the BACK to see what he may have left on the disc and found a lot of directories for games that have not been completely uninstalled.  I don't know what method he used to remove the games, he said it was deleted, I'm guessing he used the method of the program change/remove, but am not sure that I found a lot of directories with files hidden in them.  For example after you type dir /a in c:\my games\mah jong adventures, I found this... 2009-09-10 05:55 listed.  How can I get rid of this?

Very good, thanks for the info.

  • Owner and area of my files and directories not me

I am running Windows 7 on my computer, on which I am the only user.  When I create a directory or a file, or change a file, the owner is "Administrators" and the domain "BUILTIN" instead of my name of owner and the domain.  I wrote a program to change the owner and the domain (which does), but if I change a file, the resulting file has incorrect owner and the domain.  I have two questions: 1) why this is happening and 2) how can I fix this?  Thank you.

When I create a directory or a file, the owner is set to anyone who is owner of the parent inherited from the location you save to.  Then go to a higher level before take you over (for example, the C:\Users\ken folder) and then apply to all children.

Note: do not do this on your entire disk. If you change a system folder or the files used to update owner, any compromised site you visit can exploit your privileges and, since a change of ownership is no longer necessary, can change the files system without your knowledge.  Boom, instant compromise and infection, no action required.

  • Loss of all control files and two independent of the system tablespace data files.

    Hello

Loss of the controlfile and 2 data files: February 25, 2010... 15:00

    Database: in Archivelog mode

Backup: controlfile and all (6) datafiles on February 20, 2010 and all archive logs are available up to the failure

    -Wanted to recover.

Even if the controlfiles are restored from a backup, as long as the archive + online redo logs are available, you can make a FULL recovery.
At the end of the recovery, an OPEN RESETLOGS would update the controlfile with correct information about SNA sequence # and headers of files.
(Of course, the RESETLOGS would mean a new incarnation is created and log sequence numbers start from 1 - if you perform a backup as soon as possible after the RESETLOGS).

  • SMU remote system do not read file .lvm

I try to get my remote system (SMU remote system) to send a signal of analog voltage by reading a file .lvm.

I have a project in real time implemented, and under my remote system, I have a VI that is supposed to give a signal of analog voltage.

The implementation of VI begins by reading a file position (.lvm). After that, it is connected to a DAQ assistant.

I'm already sure that everything is connected properly, and that it is the right channel. The reason why I'm sure is because in the DAQ assistant window, I can click on "run" in order to send a test signal. I am able to capture this signal to test with an oscilloscope. Therefore, I am sure that the system is all set up correctly.

Finally, I don't know if it's important, but the measure file he was reading is located in my host. I don't know if I deploy when the VI to the target, if the measurement file is sent to the remote system with the VI.

I was wondering if someone could help me please.

    Thank you

    Leon

    Hi Leon,

If I understand correctly, you are trying to read a file .lvm waveform data and send this waveform through your SMU system. What devices are specifically using (chassis, modules...)? What exactly happens when you run the VI? You see errors? If so, what are the codes that come with these errors? Additional information on what the file .lvm would be also useful. What are the functions you use to play the .lvm file?

    Kind regards

  • Files and Settings Transfer duplicate directories/folders

After upgrading to a hard drive more, tried to install XP from old hd install disc; used easy transfer and also some other recov ery program and ended up with duplicate files and directories source of confusion.  for example several folders My Documents; the old HD and newly created the new hd.  How can I fix the problems?  I have several duplicate files, it's a mess.  Thank you, pdoyle1.

    Hi pdoyle1,

    1. you can try to use disk cleanup and verify the results. Link: Description of the tool in Windows XP Disk Cleanup:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310312

    2. If you have the original data recorded (old hard drive), then I suggest you to format the new hard drive and copy the original to new hard drive data.

You can also use some third party software that are available to remove duplicate files. You can use your favorite search engine to find the software to delete duplicate files.

Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • Re: Qosmio G - hidden files and folders is not displayed

Hi people, I have a few hidden files and folders, which I was able to access the front and I used to click on the "organize tab" display, advanced settings, display the files and folders to hide or show hidden files.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem, I just can't access my hidden files and folders, even when I go through this method.
someone help me please as soon as possible...

    Thank you

    Hi aaz911,

First of all, it would be nice of you if you post information on your laptop model and the operating system. This must be done always to get a detailed response.

In any case, I never heard of this problem, but make sure that all files will be displayed:
Start Windows Explorer > tools > Folder Options > view and enable the following options:
-Files and folders hidden: display the hidden files and folders
-Hide protected operating system files (this should be disabled > unbranded).

In addition you will find these missing files by using Windows search?

If this isn't the case, I suppose the files are deleted from someone or due to a virus. :(

  • files and lost dfirectories

I got in trouble for awhile, especially intermittent very slow.

Now, I've lost a whole directory tree and all the files inside. I got a program FCAD DCF directory off the coast of the root. All my drawing files were in subdirectories off FCAD. Now, FCAD executable file has been moved to the directory CLICK off of the root. The Office FCAD icon has been changed so that it points to the directory of CLICK. By clicking on the icon FCAD desktop FCAD program runs correctly, but all THE drawing files have disappeared.

This program was running then it happened. I've been modifing a drawing. When I went to save the drawing updated, the directory because he had disappeared and all subdirectories FCAD. I have a save as and save this file, but everything else has gone, including all the designs I have made or updated since my last backup. It's more embarrassing, because I don't keep an independent record of changes, so it is difficult to remember what changes have been made since my last backup. There are a dozen of hundreds of files and subdirectories. All files have a. FC7 extension.

This seems completely bizarre, but it happened. Move the executable file in a different directory AND change the desktop icon seem impossible, but it happened. I use this program every day and have reviewed and updated some files today.

I guess that these files are still there. Is there a way to go through the reader and the search for lost files and directories links so I can access these files or something else I can try?

  • I want to transfer files and settings from XP to Windows 7

I have win xp 32 bit on my computer, I want to copy or down load my files and exhibitor with the operating system for which is the easyest to do, so I can do a clean swept my harddrive and intall win 7 pro and then reinstall my files and setting.  What size should be USB key or drive hard exturnal.

I'm looking for help thanks Brian

    Original title: easy transfer

Until you do, make sure that your existing computer can actually support Windows 7.  If it's an old computer, it cannot.  You can get a rough idea by running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

If you have a computer of 'brand', go to the website of its manufacturer and check if Windows 7 drivers are available for your model.  Although Windows 7 has a large number of drivers built in, you may well need to install specific manufacturers drivers once Windows 7 installed, especially if you have a laptop.

  • Cannot change show Hidden files and folders option, continues to come back to hidden

Original title: activate the hidden files and folders. -Registry problem! Windows 7

I had a meeting with a virus, which had a game with my registry so that I cannot view hidden files and folders. Whenever I click on "View files and folders hodden" and then click on folder options, it is by default to "do not show hidden folders and files". I've been browsing around, find people who give advice and I have seen some changes, but it STILL keep diverting back to do not show.

    I am running Windows 7 Profesional x 64

There are a few default values and checked in 2 subfolders in the shadow folder.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden

Any help from people who know a little more about the registry that I do, would be greatly apprechiated.

    Thank you.

    Nick.

P.S. is there a tool to repair/reinstall just a specific part of the registry? aka. Replace the folder hidden by default?

    Hi Nicolas,.

Try these steps and check the result.
Step 1: Check if the following registry value exists.
    a. Click Start, type regedit and press to enter.
    b. look for the following registry:
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
    Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
    c. click the SHOWALL folder in the left pane and check if the CheckedValue element is present in the right pane and if the value set on this is 1.
    d. If CheckedValue element is missing in the right pane, and then right-click in the empty area in the right pane, click New-> click on the DWORD (32 bit) If your computer is running 32-bit Windows, 64-bit by clicking another value.
    e. name the item that you created as CheckedValue.
    f. double-click CheckedValue element and type 1 in the value data box, and then click ok.
    g. close the registry editor and restart the computer.
    h. turn on hidden files and folders to see if it works.
Important: Modifying the registry incorrectly will cause serious damage to the computer. Back up the registry until you make changes.
Step 2: Online virus scanner and check the result
    a. visit the Scan of viruses online
    b. click full service scan and complete the scan.
    c. restart the computer once the analysis is complete.

Hi Mr. Bennet Martin! Thank you for your response to my query. Articles somehow helped, but just to let you know, when I go to 'Share with' option, for some reason any is that I've only got 'advanced sharing. Anyway I always tried to navigate and wander through the dialog box, and here are the steps I'd like to share:

Local disk > share with > Advanced sharing > sharing tab > Advance sharing button > check the box "share this folder" > permissions * > click Add a button > click Advanced button > click on 'Search' > select NETWORK > CLICKED OK

Once the NETWORK is added, I clicked on all the check boxes under permissions to "allow".

He FINALLY solved the problem! I can access my own files on the same laptop when I go to 'Network' on the left side of the pane. Now the other laptop can also access all my files on the selected drive. Thank you for all your help Sir and I hope that this can also be useful to others! God bless you!
