View: Non-persistent Desktop with persistent user data

We need to have a non persistent desktop which has a small persistent area (separate drive?), where the user profiles are stored.  Our goal is to have the stay of software/OS in a non persistent state but allow for user profiles to be created/saved on the computer.  Did someone do something similar to what could be useful in pointing me in the right direction?

Thank you!

Not persistent are ment to do exactly that.  As suggested must be addressed on a profile management system, you could probably get by with roaming profiles provided that you keep some controls tightened on them.

Alternatively, you can use a pool of persistent by using user data disks and use the "Refresh OS disk on logoff" setting set to 'Always' or 'all the X days '.  That mimics a non-persistent pool without the need for some other profile management.

  • Preselect country, title etc. with the user data

I have a page on my Web site for user account information, name, address, e-mail, etc.. And I managed to use modules such as {module_homeaddress} so that their saved information is displayed in the form field using the value = "" function. " I wonder if I can do it with drop-down lists for the country and the title etc. At best, I did < value of option '{module_homecountry}' > - select this option to change - < / option >, but it isn't look great and is unclear what is recorded.

It goes the same for newsletter subscription boxes.

    Thank you.

    Hey Liam,.

Fastest thing - put details screen to update on a page, look at how he runs the country from the drop-down lists and filling based on CRM input

  • View the Sessions available with affected user 5.1

Hi, someone knows how you can automate removing assigned users of the Sessions available?  Wehn a users uses a session it is moving towards the office.  When they disconnect from the Session will be available but leaves to name as a user assigned to the desktop?

    Thank you

    Chris

It seems that you have accidentally set up a specialized pool when you want to place a floating pool. Pools dedicated train a 1:1 for VM user mapping, but floating pools allow the re-use of any free virtual machine within a pool. You will need to delete the existing one and create a new floating pool.

Run us a Java Application (banner) and when you fire in Firefox it shows 2 application prompt, both applications are trusted publishers is not a matter of trust. Because they are non-persistent desktops that our end users bring each time that they restart it. Whats odd is that we have been able to ignore these warnings with IE using strategies of group two, one to be saved in the "trusted publishers" request certificates store and another to add the URL of the application to IE Trusted Sites. I'm not sure how to work around this problem in Firefox

I enable the Java Console and turned on a high level of forest exploitation, and when I got one of these application guests I clicked on the option "don't show this new editor applications and the location above. When I did that the Java console displays the following...

I know I'm grabbing at straws here but y at - he called a way to manipulate the contents of the file "trusted.certs" to the user with a logon script via group policy so that Publisher/App/location is always approved?

    Thank you

So... my grad last idea is to deploy the trusted.certs file in the default profile on your master image and test to see if this file is available in-house for new users. Do you know how to copy a user profile in the default user profile in Windows 7?

  • Slow connection, non-persistent desktops... of roaming profiles?

OK everyone I have a good, we use view 4.0.1 build-233023 and when we use no sticky Windows XP Pro 32-bit desktop computers, we run into the question of a slow connection during the period where Windows applies the user 'custom settings '.  The delay is not terrible, but it will cause colic.  I'm assuming that this delay occurs because the user does not have a profile on the newly created virtual machine.

We experimented with roaming profiles AD and so far there is no help.  Does anyone have ideas to avoid the "custom setting event?  We would really like to non-persistent work stations, like those persistent management is not really feasible in view 4.0.

    Thanks for the help everyone!

I had this problem and it took me about two months to get my picture gold until I was satisfied by the research, the trial & error and much rebuilt.

I used a combination of non-persistent computers, folder redirection, of roaming profiles and I have disabled all the tricks of custom setting (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/238441) and now my pictures are very alive and work perfectly for my environment (school).

I suppose that you have set records in your goldy and optimized it for sodomy.  Because before I did that my image has been sluggish on login.  The performance difference between my old image and the new image is like night and day.

    Good luck!

  • Non-persistent desktops take ten minutes to connect

A customer reported issues using the IBM Notes client with view v3.1.

Workstations are configured as non-persistent, and they report problems loging in.  When the user connects, there are data that are copied into the virtual machine that contains the personal information of users for Notes, as their address book and other items.  Because these data are copied to the Journal, there is a delay, sometimes up to ten minutes, before the user is currently connected.

Has anyone seen this problem with Notes or any other application that is based on user profile information and might have some suggestions? Thanks,-Jeff

anything that uses a roaming profile may affect the time of connection.  For us, Exchange, all the .pst files are stored in the my documents folder, which redirects to the home folder on a network file server users.  Therefore, they use any machine, they still have access to their information.

Be considered for what it is worth, I have not used the notes in a long time, but I believe you can also change the settings of the client connection notes, so redirect the names.nsf anywhere.  This will reduce your connection time because the file will not be copied locally whenever a user logs on.

My advice would be to seek a GPO that would redirect your my documents folder and see to update on the heavy notes client connection parameters.

  • Any way to get the files (not apps) for non-persistent floating desktop?

    Hello:

We are currently running a pilot to replace our training labs, with the offices of pool floating non-persistent.  Currently, we are trying to find a way to simply deploy a file folder in the end user's desktop folder.  I tried to watch using Thinapp, but that seems to work only if there are executable files.  In our case, we just have a folder of files Excel & Word we want to have on every desk in the pool.  Is it possible to do, without having to use a part 3?  I was looking at possible ways to do it, but so far I only found ways to do it with the Windows user profile.  It is an option, but we would like to do this at the level of the office pool instead.  Basically, just like Thinapp works but just copy or synchronize files rather that install applications.

I was wondering if anyone else has found a way to do it.  Thanks in advance.

I would probably put the files in the image as the 2nd post mentioned. Another option would be to use some kind of startup script to copy from a network share. Have you looked at the volumes app?

  • View 3.12 decommission persistent user, then reconnect the question

    Hello

I have a pool of offices with the following, automated, persistent attributes, the linked clone, 3.12.

We have a number of users who have persistent assignments to a number of virtual desktops.

Some of these users left the Department if I unnassigned them from the computers so that new users may be affected, I used the command vdmadmin.exe L d & lt; desktop_name & gt; u & lt; user_name & gt; -r.

Everything worked well, new users joining the pool and they have been assigned automatically for desktop computers that I had unnassigned by previous users.

Then some former users who had been returned to the Department, unnassigned now when they try to connect to the pool a number of questions arise:

    1. If a person is currently connected to their originating port, then the user gets an error message saying that it is y workstations none available in the pool, even if there are a lot of available workstations and new users can connect to and assign these workstations.

    2. If the person is connected to their desktop orginal then the former user is saved in their offices of origin, even if it is already assigned to another user. This translates to 2 users who connect on the same office persistent (not recover).

    for example:

original user has assigned to the x Desktop

user an office unnasigned x (via vdmadmin.exe)

new user b assigned to the x Desktop

user a logs back in: If user b is connected to the x Desktop = error message unable to connect, if user b is not connected to the office x = user a connected to the x Desktop

user b logs in: If the user a is connected to the office x = error

message unable to connect, if user a is not connected to the office x = b connected to user

    Office x

Anyone know how to remove the user from the allocation of funds without deleting workstations? Course the vdmadmin command removes only the user desktop, not the user's desktop.

    Thank you

You are right.  It seemed to have misread the article, thanks for the clarification.   I noticed in the vdmadmin.exe L d < desktop_name > u < username > command - are-was not in front of the L.  I guess that was left by accident in the post which returns an error message from the command line.    Have you tried assigning users a different office in this pool by using the command line?  I wonder if they began after these assignments instead of logging in desktop already assigned.

  • Client workspace in a pool of non-persistent offices?

The customer of the workspace can be used in a non-persistent office pool? A couple of concerns I have with this:

-l the location of the data cache. I don't want to synchronize whenever I log on a fresh desktop computer. I can change the path to a shared House on the network for example, but is it possible during installation or via GPO?

-When a user opens a session one computer desktop with a client of the workspace, the office is bound to the user in the workspace of Horizon. This obviously gives problems when a user opens a session to a new non-persistent desktop whenever the user opens a session. Desktop computers will be linked to multiple users and users will have several related jobs. How can this problem be solved?

It can, but it is not optimized for this use case right now...

In Horizon 1.0 data will have sync if you install the Agent Horizon on a VDI desktop. No way around that. So at least synchronize only once file, you can redirect the data folder of the 'local' Horizon to a network share or a persistent disk. There is a registry key for this:

HCCU\Software\VMware, Inc. \Horizon Data\Folder (Reg_SZ) = a folder on a mapped drive, such as a home player or something else that is persistent.

There should be no problem with that connects several computers. You are right, there is a long list of features, but there is no limitation, so everything should work.

We are working on many improvements for future versions. This kind of feedback is crucial to decide what features will be implemented when. Please, keep the feedback coming.

Not sure where your problem is, but there are some things that I am not comfortbable with your current code.  This is a replacement code.  You can give it a try?

    The major changes are:

    (a) in the settings, we do not create a new object of Configuration, we update the existing object.  Also note that StoreConfiguration.getConfiguration (); should never return null.

    (b) in StoreConfiguration, I tidied up to account for what was happening in fact of suite and there is never a single _data object (Configuration)

    (c) in the Configuration, the hash table is more static.

Apart from a bit of as, these changes reflect the fact that static may not be a singleton.  If you are referring to the Configuration of two different processes (a background app started at the beginning of time and a leading user interface component started with an alternative entry), you won't see the same object simply by using a static.

Sorry, none of the code has been compiled, but I hope you understand intentions.

  • How to enable the redirection of disposable files to 'redirect available on a non-persistent disk files "?

    Hey you,.

I have a floating pool using View Composer linked clones

with disposable files Redirection is "do not redirect disposable files", I can

switch forwarding files disposable to "redirect the disposable files to one.

non-persistent disk "?  . If it is possible, how

    to do?

    Thank you.

Available disk options cannot be set during the installation of the pool.  If you have an existing pool that has not activated it then I think you need to create a new pool.

  • AppStack converts full Clone somewhat "non-persistent".

    Hey guys,.

We have a strange problem when using appstacks on our complete clones. When an AppStack is fixed (not accessible volume writable!) everything is reset after a reboot. All the files that I saved locally in a session went after a reboot...

It s as I mapped an accessible volume in writing and he did not in place after a restart.

The problem exists with all AppStack.

See the horizon Version is 6.2

    AppVolumes version is 2.9

I hope that you have an idea!

    Kind regards

    eyesonly

App Volumes when used in a persistent environment will not be persistent user changes after a logoff or reboot. This is normal in Volumes App 2.x versions. If a persistent environment is desired in conjunction with Volumes of the App requirements must be met.

Support to the persistent endpoints (physical or virtual) is only given under the following constraints:

o instead of volumes Constant network connection is necessary.

o updated Automatic for any process level system or applications (Windows Update, Office Updater) should be disabled.

o updated the operating system should be planned with the agent App Volumes disabled or arrested and executed as a user without allocation of volume.

    To stop the service:

    Net stop svservice

    Net stop svdriver

    Perform updates

    Restart endpoint

If the deactivation of the service:

Departure of sc config svservice = disabled

    Reset

    Perform updates

Sc config svservice = auto start

For the user "tricks" add an accessible Volume writable

you will get the error like "" /var/log/.vmssyslogd.err: unable to write the newspaper "that's all." then you will have loss the logs after this time. in order to configure it in drive clean. FYI: this always used to use diagnostic logs, it is important

  • Best installation of the USB driver of practices for non-persistent clones

    Hello

are there best practices using non-persistent clones and USB driver?

Client A connects to a linked clone and connects a drive USB flash or something else.

The installation of the driver is horrible slow on Windows 7:

    • New device found...
    • looking for a driver in driverstore...
    • installing the driver software...

Tested now and it took more than 8mins.

After installation, the appliance is ready and can be used. But after disconnecting from the desktop computer updates and each driver installation must be run again at the next connection. We have disabled the Windows updates and specified do not search Windows Update for device driver locations. (Policies-> models-> system administration / Installation of devices-> search order specified for the device driver source locations).

Clues, why it is so slowly installing drivers and how to prevent the reinstallation of drivers every day

    Thank you and best regards

    Well,.

We have set. VA was the problem...

We excluded analyzes the demand for processes drvinst.exe.
