Virtual machine with Redhat - how to extend the file system

I have a virtual machine with redhat.  the machine was created with 20 GB of space.  I changed the settings and gave him 30GB.

/ Dev/sda watch now 30 GB

But/dev/map/VolGroup00/LogVol00 shows that the 20 GB.

How can I get the file system to extend with the other 10 GB of space?

Thank you!

With a lot of attention.    I just went through something similar myself.  This web site has been very useful: http://www.linuxnetadmin.com/2008/01/how-to-add-disk-space-with-lvm-on-linux.html

The website above describe the steps when adding an additional drive, but the steps for extending on a new partition on the same disk should be similar.

Take a snapshot first in case things go very wrong.

    I would like to help with the following.

    Using the GET - vm to return all the virtual machines in a table or a table, but with a number of index against each of them. Perhaps even the number of its position in the matrix or $myarray [0]. I am struggling with the best way to go, be it a table to 2 dimensions or an object, but then how do I get the numbers in there.

    The reason for this is to present a list of virtual machines with a number on the side, to which the user then enters the number instead of having to type the name of the virtual machine.

    Ideally resembling:

    The following script will give you a list of virtual machines with a number on the front, then you can type the number, choose the virtual machine you want to start:

    $VMs = Get-VM
    $VMsArray = @()
    $VMs | ForEach-Object { $VMsArray += $_.Name }
    Write-Output "Here are the virtual machines to choose from"
    Write-Output ""
    For ($i = 0; $i -lt $VMsArray.Length; $i++ ) { Write-Output "$i $($VMsArray[$i])"}
    Write-Output ""
    $SelectedNum = Read-Host "Enter the number of the Virtual Machine to Power On"
    $SelectedVM = $VMsArray[$SelectedNum]

  • VM simulator - how to access the file system.

    I was wondering if anyone knows how to access the file vmware playbook simulator system.

    I don't want access programmatically, I covered, for access to the file system to copy files to the Simulator in shared directories.

    When you connect a playbook on the USB, it shows up as a drive, and I would like access to the same playbook vm dir structure to copy files for testing. for example if your s app access the pictures on the camera, I would like to copy some images for the test. Any ideas?

    TIA - dave

    Search the forum for more information on using 'ssh' to access the Simulator and more specifically help 'scp' or 'sftp' to transfer files to. You will do this in the files under/accounts/1000/shared, and if you're on Windows you will probably be to install PuTTY to do this. Feel free to ask for help more once you have dug through it all.

  • How to extend the c: (System)?

    Hey,.

    I have a little problem now a days.

    A day before yesterday I saw free space on the C drive is around 15 GB, today it is around 2 GB and down by mbs infrequently.

    I did not install a software or a game. Instead, I have removed a few apps today, but did not win a lot of space.

    I run diskcleanup one done every possible thing but no progress.

    Now I wonder if I can extend C: drive using other partitions.

    If I can, how to do?

    Can I extend drive C: using hard disk secondary?

    I need urgent help

    Concerning

    Annick

    You really need to know what fits all your disk space and cope with this.  Add more disk space will simply allow any malware program potential, you have been infected with more space to use up.

    Try to download a parser of disk space and know exactly where your disk space is used and free it up.  Two freeware programs that I use are "SpaceSniffer" and "WinDirStat".

    SpaceSniffer: http://www.uderzo.it/main_products/space_sniffer/

    WinDirStat: https://windirstat.info/

  • Create a virtual machine with Maximum carrots ESXi has?

    I someone told me that VMware does not support to create a virtual machine with more than 50% of the available cores has your host. For example, I have an ESXi host with 2 CPU each with 8 cores. I have therefore 16 cores on my host. I wouldn't be able to create a virtual machine with 8 cores to be supported. Even if I am able to create a virtual machine with 16 cores? Is this person crazy me

    This is completely untrue, there is no such limitation. If your license allows, you can use vCPUs as much as your physical host has available threads and as the VM virtual hardware version allows.

  • Cloning of virtual machines with snapshots

    Is it possible to take a virtual machine with snapshots, and then copy the individual vmdk files that make up a set of 5 shots manually and create a new virtual machine, so that all of the snapshots is all kept - and if it works what are the possible caviats / traps?  When you use just the cloning tool, it includes all snapshots.

    Hi TheVMinator,

    As mentioned in the kb, it is not recommended. But if you stop your virtual machine, copy the complete folder and then save the new VMX, it should work.

    The only problem that you have is a corruption of the sequence of disk. In this case, you can try to fix it or make another copy of the original VM. But you will not damage your original machine.

    Good luck.

    How can I get the version of VMware View Agent running on a virtual machine with powercli or view Powercli?

    As much as I know there is no cmdlet PowerCLI for this, but you can use the Invoke-VMScript cmdlet and interrogate the Win32_Product class.

    By running the following. You can add a Where clause to return only the Agent of the view

    Get-WmiObject-class Win32_Product | Select the name, Version

  • How to clone a virtual machine with the drive?

    Hello

    Previously, I used VMware Workstation and has a mastery of "clone". Now I use the reader and I would like to clone my current VM and there is no special orders. Simply copy the directory would probably not there a lot of information such as DNS name, etc. that are likely to be changed. Is it possible to clone a virtual machine with player or do I Workstation?

    Many thanks in advance,

    In my computer a full clone is nothing more then is not a copy that was made unique in the process and the players of VMware capacity but there is nothing stopping you from manually making a copy and then manually by making the changes to make it unique.

  • Is it possible - installation of a virtual machine with Server 2008 on a disc and use the other drive for storage

    I have a Dell power edge server with 2 Configuration of disks 1 TB in raid 0

    I can install a Win Server 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2 on a VD without problem, but I do not see the other disk of TB in option within Windows Server to be used as storage SQL only.

    How can I get the two disks to appear in Windows server?

    what I want is:

    First Dell 1 TB drive VD = Server 2008R2 and SQL on C:\

    Second VD Dell 1 TB drive = D:\ like disk storage

    do I have to configure the Dell VD another way or is it possible

    Thank you

    You basically configure the virtual machine that you want on all the available storage (do not forget to keep free space, for example snapshots). -As I understand it - is so that ESXi does not see the storage! This is often caused by the RAID controllers not taken in charge or the RAID issues. Please check if the RAID controller is supported as well as the configuration. BTW. Why do you want to configure RAID0? If you want to create two virtual disks on warehouses of separate data anyway, simply present to ESXI as two separate disks/volumes.

  • Create the virtual machine with the ISO mounted CDROM

    Community of hell!

    Working on the vmcreate.pl script to add the creation of CD-ROM with iso data store, I got stuck on the error

    ' Invalid device configuration: ' VirtualSCSIControllerOption.numSCSICdroms '.

    I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, or this option but may not understand how to deliver this.

    I created a cdrom as follows (below test I create any CDROM, no iso file to reduce the number of layers):

    my $ BPPRR m_backing_info = VirtualCdromRemotePassthroughBackingInfo->new)

    deviceName = > ' '.

    exclusive = > 0,

    );

    my $description = description->new(label = > 'CDROM', summary = > 'cdddrom');

    my $connectable = VirtualDeviceConnectInfo->new(allowGuestControl = > 1,)

    connected = > 0,

    startConnected = > 1,

    ( State = > inmates ' / ' );

    my $ BPPRR m = VirtualCdrom->new(backup = > $BPPRRm_backing_info,

    connectable = > $connectable,

    controllerKey = > 0,

    deviceInfo = > $description,

    key => 1,

    ( unitNumber = > 1 );

    VirtualDeviceConfigSpec->new(device = > $BPPRRm,

    operation = > VirtualDeviceConfigSpecOperation->new()'add'));

    Did anyone have working example to create the virtual machine with CDRom?

    Andrey

    If someone will find this useful I followed this route Re: vmreconfig.pl add the device CD/DVD fails if the virtual machine created with vmcreate.pl

    and also I found good examples of what I need to in VMUtil.pm in cmd vmsphere libraries.

  • Impossible to deploy the virtual machine with customization.

    Hi all

    I have a model Winodws 2008 R2 Std and Ent.  I use to deploy virtual machines with the model using the Customization Wizard.  All of a sudden since 2 days I can't provision VMS with the wizard of customiation.  Earlier, there seems to be no problem with the customization, but when I turn on the virtual machine, I see errors, attached is the screen shot for your reference.

    After the error 2 the vm keeps restarting without end time.

    I don't know what is the cause.  Please help me with the problem.  Let me know if you need additional information.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey there,

    Have you tried to get the Microsoft Windows product key? And maybe the password in the profile customization.

    If this does not work, try using a new profile customization.

    Let us know how things work!

    See you soon,.

  • Average throughput of the network to a virtual machine with PowerCLI

    I would get average network throughput for a virtual machine with PowerCLI including all e-cards, the virtual machine has for the last week (not including NFS or storage of traffic-related).

    How best should add this report:

    Get - vm myvm | Select name, numcpu

    Thank you!

    Try like this

    Get-VM | Select Name, @{N="Avg Network Throughput MBPs";E={    [math]::Round((Get-Stat -Entity $_ -Start (Get-Date).AddDays(-7) -Stat "net.throughput.usage.average" |    where {$_.Instance -eq ""} |    Measure-Object -Property Value -Average | Select -ExpandProperty Average)/1KB,2)}}

    The script takes the aggregate value for all NICs for (the one where the Instance is an empty string).

    Then we take the average and converts the Kbps, Mbps.

  • URGENT! After installing 6 Fusion and creation of new virtual machine with Windows 7, I get a message "VMware Fusion cannot enter the unit". WHAT SHOULD DO?

    After purchase, installation and activation Fusion 6 with the license key, I had a library of VMS showing 2 Boot Camp partitions. It's strange that I only have 1.
    I tried to activate them but received a message that it is out of date in 2 cases. (see annex 1)

    I started a new virtual machine with a Windows 7 installation disc directly on my HD. I have provided a way to do this and followed the instructions of Fusion to the screen.

    Apparently, everything went well and after several restarts, the installation appears to be over (see annex 2) I tried to open and run the installed Windows 7. I had however a window with the following message:

    "Pending the unit.

    "VMware Fusion cannot enter the unit. Please wait until the unit starts automatically, or interact with the virtual machine below. ' (see annex 3)

    Here Windows 7 seems to start but after a while with the home screen and of the Øresund finishing this window closed and open a new window called library Virtual Machine on the left showing the partitions of Bootcamp and the Virtual Machine Windows 7 x 64 and in the middle gray a representation of what is supposed to be the Windows 7 desktop. (see Exhibit 4). When I opened the settings button a window with different setting options pops up. This mark means to me that Windows is installed but the final opening isn't the case

    When you quit Vmware Fusion indeed Windows seems to be close (see part 5)

    What is going on? What has gone wrong? What should I do? I don't know how to solve the problem.

    I should f.i. remove the virtual machine from Windows 7 and is free automatically made partition on my HD as the reboot with the Windows installation disc? or y at - it another way to enter the UNIT?

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance

    Your virtual machine is running. It is in the unit - which each windows gets its own window of Mac - and you have no application Windows running, there is no visible windows. You can start a Windows application in the start of Fusion menu in the menu bar at the top right, or turn on the Windows task bar on the view menu and start applications from there. Or use the view menu to switch to the Single mode or full-screen, which puts all of your Windows desktop in a window separate from Mac.

    You do not have two partitions to Boot Camp on your Mac, you have two virtual machines named "Boot Camp partition".

    The message about it being unable to enter the unit arrives while the merger is pending for the tools begin to run, because the tool is necessary for the unit.

  • How to list virtual machines with associated vmdk files

    Hello.

    I have a folder vmfs and file vmdk with names that aren't like any virtual machine name (probably because that rename the virtual computer name).

    How can I find what VM is?

    Thank you

    Hello, biokovo-

    You can use the standard Get - VM and hard to find names of VMDK VMs-associated cmdlets Get-disc.  Or another, much more quickly elsewhere, would be to use everyone's favorite: Get-View.

    Since you know the path of the data store for the VMDK, you can check the property LayoutEx of virtual machines to find the virtual machine that said the file property with the name of the value as the games way to store data, as:

    $strVmdkDatastorePath = "[mydatastore] somefolder/somefile.vmdk"Get-View -ViewType VirtualMachine -Property Name,LayoutEx.File | ?{$_.LayoutEx.File | ?{$_.Name -eq $strVmdkDatastorePath}} | select name

    Where the path of the data store's format, "[datastoreName] folder/somefile.vmdk.  Yes, including the square brackets around the name of the data store and a space after the "]" (before the first character of the name of the folder).

    How does do for you?  (must be straight fast)

  • SCSI driver is missing in the virtual machine. Driver is missing in the provided website. Instructions on how to install the driver (once you find) are missing.

    I get the text following error encrypted every time that I boot Windows XP in VMWare Fusion, since I've upgraded to version 4.02 a few months ago.  So I upgraded to version 5.02 hoping the error would go, but he didn't.

    When I try to start it, it says "he has at least a virtual SCSI device installed on this virtual Windows XP computer.

    Windows XP does not include the drivers for the card SCSI BusLogic VMware Fusion uses virtual SCSI devices.
    To use these virtual SCSI devices, install the VMware driver in the virtual machine. "Download the driver of"http://vmware.com/info?id=43"."
    Once I have to dismiss the message, everything seems to work properly.  How can I make this message disappear?

    I tried to go to the useless link that is provided (http://vmware.com/info?id=43), but it takes me just for a general download for all VMWare products page.  Then I tried searching for "SCSI" but it does not have the driver, I'm supposedly dedicated research

    After doing a bit of searching around, I finally found a driver called "vmscsi - 1.2.0.4.flp ', I connect to my virtual floppy drive.  Once I did, my virtual machine wouldn't boot (I get the error "NTDLR is missing.)  I then unplugged the virtual floppy drive, and now my virtual machine starts again.  I then re-connected the drive floppy and discovered the following content:
    Disk.Tag
    Txtsetup.OEM
    vmscsi.cat
    vmscsi.inf
    smscsi.sys
    OK... Now what?  No installer?  What the hell am I supposed to do with it?  I tried a double click on all of these files and have no significant results.  When the pilot is supposed to go?  No instructions? -What VMware calls "support"?

    The VMware Tools GUI has been removed because it has now integrated with the Virtual Machine settings, however you can still use the command line.

    C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools>vmwaretoolboxcmd help
    Usage: vmwaretoolboxcmd  [options] [subcommand]
    Type 'vmwaretoolboxcmd help ' for help on a specific command.
    Type 'vmwaretoolboxcmd -v' to see the VMware Tools version.
    Use '-q' option to suppress stdout output.
    Most commands take a subcommand.
    Available commands:
       device
       disk
       script
       stat
       timesync
       upgrade (not available on all operating systems)
