VirtualCenter on SqlExpress vs Sql 2005 database?

We currently have our VC2.5 database on SQL2005 Server (there is one instance alongside many other instances of sql).   The problem is that our Dba is very strict and has locked some of the roles that are required for the update of the dbases VC and Update Manager (if I understand correctly, there are some roles must be defined with administrative privileges to enable update Mgr and VC updates to work properly).

Our database of VC supports about 100 servers and we will have more than a total of 200 servers.   My database, I tells me is currently to about 500 MB.  So with the growth, I see that the database will exceed the capacity of SQLExpress.

I think it may be better to place my database of VC on SQLExpress and coexist with server VC, and then I can manage both to avoid any problem with our dba.

So the question is: can I put my VC on SQL Express database?  Are there problems?

other that the 4 GB limit I can't hand over limits.  Permissions required during upgrade DB on the server vCenter high are only temporary for the MSDB.  You are showing your DBA this KB?

In addition, you may wan to watch the calculator of virtual data center just to make sure you will be ok

  • Possible corrupted sql 2005 database tables

I ran a backup last night using BackupExec 2012 and he pointed out that the Master, Model, MSDB and about 4 other databases are corrupt and it cannot be verified. I ran a full backup on Sunday and it came back fine, but today it is said that the databases are corrupt. How will I know if the database is truly damaged or if it's just a mistake in BackupExec. I think that the backup task might be the problem and not the database but I want to assure you that corruption is real.

The database is currently in place and works right now, but I don't know what will happen with a reboot. There is an integrity check Saturday on the Master and MSDB that came back good so I think I have a good backup, but don't really know if what BackupExec tells me is correct.

Which tables should be in the database?

It is a manual solution for this problem, but you must have Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to it. If you have it, you must follow the steps below:

Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio on your system.

Now, click on the button new query.

A new query page will open. Write scripts SQL (below) on the page:

    EXEC sp_resetstatus [autogrow];

    ALTER DATABASE [autogrow] DEFINED EMERGENCY

    DBCC checkdb ([autogrow])

ALTER DATABASE [autogrow] SET SINGLE_USER WITH IMMEDIATE RESTORE

    DATABASE of DBCC ([autogrow], REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS)

    ALTER DATABASE [autogrow] SET MULTI_USER

    Now, click on Execute.

You can now see the file is not marked as Suspect.

  • Connect to MS SQL 2005 via JDBC Driver

I have an application in which I use Java for elements of database as abstract objects and handle most of the processing on the server side. This is done by creating a Java via CreateObject() object. The Java then connects to a MS SQL 2005 database using the JDBC 1.1 driver.

The following tutorial explains how to set up: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=ded4216b. It loads allows you to create a Data Source, just like how you normally would in "ordinary" ColdFusion applications Then, using a few simple Java, I am successfully able to connect to the database, interrogate and get results. Connection code is attached.

As you can see, I'm still passing all the connection parameters to the database class constructor. My question is: how would I go about connecting to the database by simply using the Data Source name, as you would, once again, in "ordinary" ColdFusion applications Is this possible at all?

    Thank you!

It works, thank you very much. Here's my final code:

    Application.cfm

Then I can pass the reference to the basic connection of data in instantianting objects of the other classes, so that they can access the database.

    For example:

Once again thanks a lot everyone!

  • Cleaning of the space of SQL Express 2005 database; Sound to its fullest.

    Hi all

Here's a question I need help. I have a vCenter Server, which has a database of maxed out of 4 GB on SQL Express 2005. It won't let me restart the service for vCenter Server if I restart the computer. Fortunately, I somehow got it upward after the restart, but not until I spent 3 hours on medium with HP/VMware. I went through the Article (KB1025914) showing the script that cleans your database, but it has not cleaned enough space to work. Now support tells me that I need to truncate the database, but I have to call Microsoft for support because they do not support problems with SQL even if it is a database of VMware and VMware the data that I need to clean all the partners. Go figure!

After that go through all of these reasons, I realized that the table that uses my space is the dbo. Table VPX_EVENT of the 1.2 GB and dbo. Table VPX_EVENT_ARG to 995MB. I was able to come back in vCenter and I found that my database retention policy has been set to never delete for events and tasks, and now I have put in 90 days. Although it has not cleaned all the space in the database, I guess that's my question is. Can someone give me any indication on how I can clean these two tables? I want to delete all events and tasks that are more than 90 days from these two tables, which should give me should I want to shrink my database of at least 50%.

    Thanks for the help.

After you change the setting, it will remove the events, but the size of the DB's not going down. You will need to run a full backup of the DB to truncate the logs. This will be relase little space but not automatically, it will just remove balls and add instead of whitespace. You can reduce the database and then you would see the size of the DB down. In SQL 2005 Express, you may need to run the cut several times, as I've experienced it won't shrink until the 3rd or 4th attempt.

  • Database of SQL 2005 with Site Recovery Manager

    Hello

I want to install Site Recovery Manager.  I have a few questions about the configuration of database.  In my for the database installation steps

    I have the following:

    -

For Microsoft SQL Server, the database must be configured as follows:

1 schema name must be the same on behalf of the user, and you must have a default schema for the user account

2 bulk insert of administrator privileges

    3. If Windows authentication is used, install the SRM service on a host that shares the same domain as the database server

    4. If SQL Server is installed locally, you may need to disable the network setting shared memory on the database server

    -

I have almost 0 experience with SQL 2005.

How to make sure that the schema name must be the same as the user name? My username is "vcadmin".

How can you "Bulk insert administrator privleges.

    Thank you all...

I'm not an expert SQL 2005 is... DB2 is my thing ahead of VMware

    CREATE SCHEMA vcadmin

    AUTHORIZATION vcadmin.

    GO

will create the scheme of vcadmin with vcadmin be the owner. In SQL Server 2005, each user will have a default schema, and if no default schema has been assigned to a user, they will be part of the DBO schema.

the format for the granting of insertion block is:

GRANT ADMINISTER BULK OPERATIONS TO VCADMIN

You can also just do your username VCADMIN the owner of the database when you create the database.

    see you soon

  • OBIEE 10 G can connect to a SQL Server database (2005)?

We have Oracle BI already running. We also have a SQL Server database running. Now, there is requirement that requires to connect to SQL Server and directly send some books SQL on SQL Server and retrieve the result and display it in the answers. I know that the normal procedure should be set ETL to load data from the SQL Server in OBIEE and from there, the report can be built. So I'm not sure it's doable?

Do the same thing using the online mode. so that you can add a connection pool to the RPD, which is located within the BI server.

    Hello Steven

I'm assuming that you'll upgrade TMS to the latest version as well (13.2%).

Longer if you follow the procedure documentation and check all the prerequisites and requirement conditions everything should go smooth.

Please check this link, in particular page 16:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/Telepresence/infrastructure/TMS/Install_Guide/Cisco_TMS_install_guide_13-2.PDF

Also, I highly recommend to install TMSPE that uses the database SQL instead of the OpenDS.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/Telepresence/infrastructure/tmspe/Install_Guide/Cisco_TMSPE_Deployment_Guide_1-0.PDF

Please note that you must upgrade your VCS so at least 7.1.

    I hope this helps.
