  Hi all

  Had a rather strange problem today that I couldn't solve with serial ports not appearing is not in MAX (and thus be inaccessible to LabVIEW). In the windows Device Manager, it shows 4 COM ports, and I checked with an external program that they work properly.

  -Run the installers / MAX as an administrator (this forum works for the local administrator account)

  -Checked that NI-VISA appears under the Max software

  -Fixed MAX/NI-VISA

  Is there something else that could cause the COM ports not to appear in MAX when they appear (and work correctly) in Device Manager when a reinstallation of the NI-VISA / MAX solve?

  I found the solution - it turns out that the serial ports are available for LabVIEW, just do they not appear in MAX because installed just the runtime does not display devices by MAX.

  3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall Norton 360 ( LiveUpdate and all Norton Add ons) via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

  4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

  NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

  5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

  TIP: Do not activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

  7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate until you get a prompt "no update more".

• [Solved] pc with xp home edition as the operating system does not start after installation of SP2 via automatic updates

  Hello everyone. After formatting my hard drive I reinstalled windows xp edition sp1 family and then installed the latest version of windows update agent. I have the auto update set to download the updates automatically and notify me when they are ready to be installed. Initially, he found 3 updates that I installed and rebooted.   I was finally able to solve this problem. That's what I did.   Step 1: Locate the stand-alone file by inserting the device model number
  a. visit http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx
  in the search box, enter the model number of the perimeter search of the driver.
  c. download the right driver for your windows and install it successfully on all computers.

  Note: If there is no available stand-alone file, I'm afraid you'll have to visit update of Windows on all computers and the installation of the update done or contact the device manufacturer to obtain the driver.
