conhost.exe is in my msconfig file, but I can't find the file on my computer.  What is it? (In Vista, the most recent version)

Nice try at a recovery of Mr. Smithers, but a clear reading of the issue and a quick answer, that's what is needed.  I always run virusware and malware.

From what I've determined, conhost.exe does not (or should not) be on a Vista system. And, if you read my question, it is not on my system, only in my msconfig file, so I just disabled this line.

Win7 Ultimate not use or need conhost?

    Hello

Yes, the Conhost.exe file is needed under Windows 7.

It was included in Windows 7 to fix a few problems that appeared in Windows XP and Windows Vista.

You can see a good explanation of these issues and the reason why the conhost.exe is necessary in the following article.

What is conhost.exe and why is it running? :

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/4996/what-is-conhost.exe-and-why-is-it-running/

If you are sure that the Conhost.exe does not appear in the folder System32, perform the following test.

    1. click Start and type cmd.exe in the area of Research .

    2. in the results, right-click the Cmd.exe file and select run as administrator . This will open a command prompt window.

    3. leave open window command prompt. Right-click in the taskbar and select Task Manager.

    4. in Task Manager, click Show processes from all users at the bottom of the window.

    5. make sure that the process tab is selected, and check if you can find one instance of the Conhost.exe file in the Image name column.

  • Qosmio G30-126 - appcrash Vista Bright.exe

    Hello
My Qosmio G30-126 bought he's 1 year provided with driver for Toshiba graphics card. For this driver with Vista is not software NVidia pages. If I asked for XP they said that Toshiba is selling laptop with Vista. Troubles were with flashing light and noise from time to time until arrived first update for Toshiba graphics card (November 2007). The sound was better, but while working, the display was on horizontal pieces. While there I find upgrade for Microsoft's NVidia graphics cards. I have download and can do scroll BUT better: the display came on the vertical pieces if I do not work. They have active air, this means that it is a little Flash.

I have the laptop still under warranty for the next 3 years.
But when I was talking about this disorder to allow Toshiba service just after childbirth, they said "it's normal with Vista" :D

I like solving problems like this...

APPCRASH is a normal window in my place. In recent weeks, it came with light control button... It is also the problem of Vista. I see on google (appcrash Bright.exe):(seulement Toshiba produit avec ce...)

    Who can answer?

    Hello

Are you using Vista or XP OS on this Qosmio G30?
You said something about XP. So I m not sure what operating system you are using now (Vista or XP)

    With regard to the bright.exe;
I think that the bright.exe belongs to one of the programs in the package of added value of Toshiba Vista (but I'm not 100% sure).
The VAP is a software package from Toshiba and it exists ONLY on Toshiba laptops ;) (maybe that's an explanation why you can only find it on Toshiba laptops)

In any case, question you seems to be a software related issue and the solution is most often a new update and installation of updated drivers.

As I said it is not clear to me what graphics drivers you use and generally what you have installed on your laptop, but on the page of the European driver Toshiba you can find all the drivers for updates.

Your G30-126 seems to belong to the series of PQG32E. The area of G30 PQG32 you can find all drivers for XP (MCE = XP) and Vista drivers.

So, what to say, depending on your operating system, install the most recent drivers / tools

    Goodbye & good luck

I can not open all of my antivirus software to see if there is a virus and to remove this virus. can your help please?

    Hello

Use above message for intense and thorough check for malware.

To restore the ability to run any .exe programs.

1 make a Restore Point so that you can come back if necessary back although probably not required.

  • What does this error message "a problem has been encountered a problem of personalized treatment tools manifest file (C:\Windows\system32\MSCFGTLC.» (XML)"and what can I do about it?

For about a week now that I get a lot of 'freeze' and try to eliminate contradictory processes that cause my Vista Home Premium 32-bit w / SP1 system to "lock" onto me.

I tried but can't do a restore effective because none of my points of store go back enough to solve the problem.

So I try a "clean boot" as described in article http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/331796.

My system has installed significantly since turning off half of the services non-Microsoft configured to run at startup.

But every time I launch msconfig.exe I get this error message-"a problem when processing custom tools manifest file (C:\Windows\system32\MSCFGTLC. '"). XML ".

It is not stop fiddling with the boot configuration, but I don't think I should get this error. Any ideas on what it is and what to do about this?

    3. To order invites, the following line and press ENTER: sfc/scannow (Yes there is a space after sfc)

  • How to disable the console (conhost.exe) host

For Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 whenever you open a console program, the system opens another process called conhost.exe, to apply windows themes and activate the drag & drop feature in this console window.
As much as I themes disabled, that I never use drag & drop in the console windows (I promise you :)), which each of this process takes at least 2 MB of RAM and, more importantly, according to sysinternals process explore each conhost.exe process has more than 2500-3000 switches context per second (thus reducing the performance of the entire system) I would like to restore the old behavior of windows Vista/2008 and completely disable the conhost.exe.

    Hello
On my computer, there are a number of icons in folder with a square in the left corner and inside room is a blue arrow pointing upwards to the right.  Although I can remove access is denied to those folders.
I created a network to move files from my old computer to this one so that they can have something to do.
What is this icon, and if I can delete the folder?

What part of "leave alone" was unclear? ;-) Seriously, just leave them alone! You can hide them by checking the option hide hidden files in Control Panel > Folder Options. Even though I like to show hidden files in Windows XP, I hide in Vista (unless I'm troubleshooting) because otherwise things seem to be so messy. You can do the same thing. • Do not see the correct path - what is this AppData and VirtualStore?

original title: necessary response! Very urgent!

Hello!! I did my project College recently! The topic is SHOWING cloud computing storage! the project is (briefly) to store a file downloaded by the administrator in the server (TOMCAT) cloud. Now, as soon as I upload my file in the server I can't find in the expected path

    -C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\PROJECT
But instead I find in the following path
    -C:\Users\PALAKOTI\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\PROJECT\cloud\cloud.txt
    Why is it like that?

What shud I do to find the path, I expect to?

What is this AppData and VirtualStore?

You shouldn't be writng txt files in the Program Files folder.

As a compatibility feature, Vista virtualizes these files in your user folder. It was intended to allow the old XP programs that require administrator privileges to run correctly for use on Vista.

The file virtualization is explained here:

The calendar on my bar side Gadgets does not always.  What causes this and how can I open it?

    Hi SusanMagill,

    1. what happens when you open the calendar gadget? You receive error messages?

    2. are you facing problems with the Windows Calendar gadget?

This problem occurs because of an error in the Windows Sidebar calendar gadget.

    Step 1:

You can read the following article and see if it helps:

How to restore the sidebar of Windows?

    Step 2:

Try to rename settings.ini and check.

    a. make sure that the gadgets are completely closed (check in the Manager of tasks for sidebar.exe).

    b. open the browser, go to %localappdata%\microsoft\Windows Sidebar.

    c. save the file settings.ini in somewhere else.

    d. Rename settings.ini settings.ini.bak (or something else), it will regenerate the file. You need to add your gadgets back.

    e. open gadgets, it must be resolved.
