Vista constant system freeze

I have a lenovo laptop under Vista.  About two weeks ago the system started to freeze, apparently at random. Nothing works except a hard stop.

First of all, I tried several restore points go as far as possible.  This seemed to cause the accident to be a little less frequent.

The I deleted Norton Security Tools.

I made every check disk, the solution, the available cleanup operation.

I ran memory diagnosis and there is no error reported.

I cleaned all the startup files.

Just today, I started working on the event viewer and he registered several errors 100, 101, 103, 106, 108, 109, 200, 203, 400 by the number of days.

I can't find enough information about these being of no use.

I suspect a motherboard-intermittent problem, but want to be sure, that I'm not missing something.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Chris

Hi Chris and Alisa Riser,

  • Did you the latest changes on the computer?

Method 1

First of all, I would say that you uninstall the Norton product, using the removal tool and check if it helps.

http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docURL=20080710133834EN&LN=en_US

Method 2

If the previous step fails, see if the problem persists in safe mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Restart the computer to return to normal mode

Method 3

If the problem does not persist in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is at the origin of the problem in normal mode.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Hello

    ·        What are your system specs?

    ·        How you try to install windows vista on the system? After the start of the desktop?

    ·        What is the exact error message that you experience when the system hangs during the installation?

I suggest you to disconnect all external devices that are connected to the system such as (printers, scanners, etc.) and see if the problem is resolved.

This occurs mainly, if the system (hardware or software) is not compatible with the operating system that you are trying to install on the system. I suggest you to format the partition in which you try to install Windows Vista, and then check if you are able to install the operating system or not.

  • Portege M800-106 the system freezes when I connect a device via USB

When I connect a device through a USB port, the system hangs. This happened with any device even something that has been used before. Example - if I turn on the printer /plug in my Blackberry to synchronize the .laptop just going so slow that I have to do a reboot with the devices still connected to get the system working again. Running Vista. Any help please?

    Hello

You see yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager? Maybe a driver isn't installed properly in the system freezes.
In addition, I would try to remove the USB ports in Device Manager. After this restart your laptop and USB ports will be recognized again.

Have you tried a BIOS update? If this isn't the case, you should do it. Before you begin the update, close all running programs and make sure that you are logged on as administrator.

Last but not least try to reinstall Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc. It only takes a few minutes and then you have settings to factory again! :)

  • Microsoft Windows Vista Home Permium freezes to the logon screen or gets stuck

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Permium freezes to the logon screen or crashes on the black screen with Copyright Microsoft Corporation with the load with six green bars moving through bar. It will start in safe mode. I ran the auto repair (recommended) when starting after being forced to stop. After it says its full it restarts and remains stuck on the black screen with Copyright Microsoft Corporation with the load bar with six green bars that cross so I force disable it again.

I had no problem with this computer, he got in last seven. It was working fine yesterday and then the without wire came out, so I restarted the computer to find the connection again as I had done several times before. That's when it froze on the opening of session and password screen. Who started this cycle of freezing or stuck on the black screen with the loading bar permanently running.

    UPDATE:
Start safe mode then made the instructions on the clean boot. Not checked, all iteams he says and rebooted and it worked. So I went to the next step to select only half to refine the list. Restarted and when at the loading screen for a little over 30 sec - 1 min (which is more short than the time it took to work initially after the first stage of the boot with all unchecked), but it goes to a completely black screen that has not happened before. So now, a little lost, or do I have to keep trying to refine?

    Hi Greg,.

It will not harm the computer to run it in a boot environment.  Some programs do not work properly because they were probably responsible for their own services and rely on them to work.  You have disabled all non-Microsoft services, and things like printers and software can be difficult.

Click Start, then options type power and press ENTER.  Let us make sure that the system is not configured to sleep.  Go ahead and put the power plan to High Performance, then click on change Plan settings below.  There will be a framework for "put the computer to sleep".  The value than ever.

If it continues to turn black in clean boot mode, you may have a hardware problem.  One thing you could do if it's a desktop system and really need to use it now, it is the lid of the machine and aim a fan in the box.  This will help if it is overheating.

Please complete the steps to diagnose the problem with the boot when you have the chance.

  • Vista operating system. I get an error report "can't find printable HTML article.

Firefox returns the error report, "Could not find printable html section" when you click on the printer friendly button. The printer friendly option work in Internet Explorer. Vista operating system.

The developer of the page made a typo: the button is pressed by a script that seeks the printable element, but on the page, this item is marked printable - and JavaScript required an exact match.

As a solution, you might set the font using the web console of Firefox. However, it would be wise to complain on the site if they did this on every page.

To open the web console: Ctrl + Shift + k

To correct the fault of typing, type or paste the following text at the side of the > and press ENTER:

    document.getElementById("printready").id = 'print ';

Then click the printable version button to bring up the page in print.

You can close the web console using the X on the toolbar or by pressing Ctrl + Shift + k new

    I hope this helps.

  • After the memory upgrade in Satellite A100-1401E the system freezes

The laptop was initially delivered with only 512 MB of RAM.

I installed 1 GB of RAM Kingston (part No. KTT533D2 / 1 g) into the remaining free memory slot. However, whenever I turn on the computer, the system freezes within minutes and I have to re - start.

Is it because there is an uneven amount of memory in the 2 slots? I have 512 MB in each slot or 1 GB in each slot, etc.?

    I would like your advice.

Have you tried to change places and put 1 GB of RAM in slot A?

  • Satellite A210-1UP - every few minutes the system freezes

    Hello

    I just installed windows 7 32 bit on a satellite A210-1UP

Every few minutes the system freezes and then continues as if nothing had happened.
No error or blue screens are displayed

I would like to know if windows 7 can work without problems on this system?
That is the version of the bios recommended to run windows 7?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards
    Stijn

    Hello

Yes, you can run Windows 7 on the A210.
I ve got an A210 and installed Win 7 32 bit.
It runs correctly without big problems.
I have collected the drivers Windows 7 and install it on the system.

Some missing Toshiba Software, that I could find in other series of satellites; for example, L500.
Here I chose ve the VAP and Support utility Flash memory card in order to get the FN and the multimedia to work keys.

PS: I no has not updated the BIOS as it was not necessary; everything is ok.

  • Re: Serial number down would work with the other Windows Vista operating system

First of all sorry for my English.
    I have one question.

My hard drive is broken with my recovery partition.
If I download windows vista and install the system with my original serial number on the laptop, this will work or should I activate it after installation.

I hope it's the same number that the front is installed on my first installation.

    Hello Marcin

I doubt that the serial number that is placed at the bottom of the device works with another Windows Vista operating system. But it s worth a try
You could test it I heard it's very rare cases it was possible

In any case, if your HARD disk is damaged and it of not possible to create a recovery DVD using recovery software Toshiba disc creator, then you must contact the ASP in your country for assistance.

If the warranty is valid the HARD drive should be replaced just for free. If you need only the recovery DVDs, then you can order it here:

  • ABC causes system freeze

I would be very grateful if someone could please tell me how to troubleshoot the cause of a system freeze.

After that a BSOD caused by the premature elimination of a DVD of my d: drive, a program that I use frequently, ABC, was originally a complete system to freeze any moment, I try to run... it is Exact Audio Copy, a program that allows you to burn a cd, content analysis of files for loss/lossless music.  The only way to address the gel is through reboot cold.

Here are the steps that I took so far... and maybe this will give you an idea:

    1. I uninstalled, but when I tried to re-install it ALSO caused a freezing of the system.

    2. in Safe Mode, I was able to reinstall them and run the program without problem.

    3. after the installation in Mode safe, but chasing after systematic startup, the system froze.

So, I assume that there is a driver conflict...

EventViewer does not seem to grasp the issue... nothing showed up.

Are there other ways to understand the question?

I am running XP Pro SP3, all the installed updates, on a Dell Vostro 220 s computers.

Thanks a lot if someone can help me with this.

    Pter

Just note if EAC still causes crashes while all other programs/processes are not running. If this is the case, then it has a bug or there may be a problem with one of your drivers. If there is no blocking, systematically add pack programs/process until there is a blockage. Essentially, you need to use the process of elimination until you isoliez the villain.

Start by adding half back and then see if there is a blockage or not. You'll understand!

  • Download XP Home on computers than rn on Vista operating systems

I bought a Lap Top that runs on the Vista operating system.  I have my work on a Dell under XP Home machine and want to put the whole package of XP on the Lap Top which has Vista.  I was told that it was impossible, that it can only be charged on a unit of Dell.  I have the XP original software still sealed and never loaded on a computer, so I don't think I would be breaking the laws.  The company I worked for arrangements made with Dell for employees who worked at home to buy hundreds of computers and had them loaded with all the software that they require.  This is the package of XP Home and Dell sent the discs sealed to buyers.  I was one of the buyers and have a new series.  The problem is that it's going to work or Vista shot of it.  I am a novice and you worry mess up Vista and everything I have on the computer.

Someone, please ME SAY it IS OK AND HOW to LOAD it.

Windows, any version, does not come with spreadsheets or excel from MS Office, which contains.
Win is an operating system only, it contains no other software
If you want to MS Office, or any other software, you must purchase it

The recovery disks provided with your PC by PC manufacturer are related to this PC, you can't use them on another PC, no, you can't use your Dell disks on anything other than the Dell pc, they were provided with

The only thing that you can transfer from one PC to another are your data files and all commercial versions of the software that you have purchased

If you buy a PC with MS Office, while the desktop version is also related to this PC, it has been installed previously on and cannot be transferred to another PC.
You cannot transfer commercial versions of the software that you have purchased a new PC

In your case, it would seem that your old Dell PC, available with Windows XP home also had MS Office, none of them can be transferred to a new PC

And no clip has not transferred to winxp home of your Dell to your Compaq, which would have been impossible
