Vista crashes frequently after the update of last Tuesday (May 8, 2012).

My Vista computer has been completely stable for several years until that I installed the latest update. Now it's the gel with an disk activity but the cursor is frozen and the Task Manager are not available. Once it bombed just completely and the hard drive must be recovered.  Any ideas on what could be wrong and how to fix it.

The problem now seems to have resolved itself.  We checked the newspapers anti-virus (avast!) and there was a huge spike in activity when problems are happening.

I noticed that when avast! is active, it picks up the computer for a while - with the mouse, the keyboard and the Task Manager refused to function.

Usually, it's only for a few moments, is not a problem.

There was a continuous activity of avast! After that the Windows updates were first applied. The symptoms were exactly like the momentary avast! I have known "purchases" from time to time. They were only minutes not moments. These are the problems that I have for the first time.

The disc has been restored. Updates reinstalled without problem and the computer is now back to normal.  Thanks for looking into this and for your advice.

  • Windows Vista crashes due to the update of windows

I just reinstalled Windows Vista 32 bit on my Lenovo PC after experiencing problems due to a virus. However, during the execution of that Windows update, I started noticing problems because my computer would freeze randomly. Neither the mouse nor keyboard would allow me an entry stop properly or to restart the computer, so I had to cut the power, whenever this happens. on the way back - turn on the computer, I noticed that the operating system is trying to update something and fails or succeeds every time. I know not why this problem occurs because I have a decent amount of DDR2 RAM (2 GB) and have even stopped to try to alleviate the problem of automatic updates.

I don't know, but maybe it's one of several cases in the latest version of Skype 7.0 is not able properly to interpret data from the BIOS. At least, that was the issue with the cases already reported with this error message:

A fix may be available in one of the next versions of Skype. In the meantime, the solution is to uninstall version 7.0 and install the 6.21.0.104 previous version.

After testing mode safe mode with networking, I suggest that you make sure that your NETWORK card drivers are up to date.  You can also see if there is a firmware upgrade for the router you have.  Alternatively, you can perform a clean boot to see if other software can interfere with your system.  Also, make sure that your security software is up-to-date.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • After the updates of windows, the computer stops responding with a black screen at startup of the system

Original title: Windows XP does not start after the update, no error message

Has made no changes to the system, but the last thing that happened was an update of Windows security on stop.

Now when I boot, the BIOS p.o.s.t. shows good HDs, good DVD-Rom, RAM, but Windows never starts, goes just a black screen, HDs are not accessed.

-F8 does nothing, can't use the last known good Config or Mode safe

-Change boot order in the BIOS to boot from the Windows XP DVD, hoping to get the recovery console, but the same thing: black screen, no attempt to spin-up DVD or HDs.

-Removal of mobo battery to reset the CMOS, no joy.

-Checked and re checked all connections inside.

-Stripped devices and added one at a time, no joy.

-Traded-in an old video card in case it was difficult to generate the higher res gfx, no joy.

I was construction/upgrade / repair my own PC for 3 decades and can usually solve the problem and fix it myself, but this one me completely baffled.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Cougarific,

We recommend that you repair your Windows installation in according to method 2 of this article and check the result.
See computer stops responding with a black screen when you start Windows XP

Note: When you perform a repair installation, it restores the current installation of Windows XP to the version on the installation DVD. This requires you to reinstall all updates that do not appear in this version of Windows XP disc.

Reset of the controller management system (SCM) on your Mac - sometimes it's a matter of simply resetting your iMac SMC. Open this article and scroll down to "Reset the SMC on Mac desktop" section and follow the steps there.

How to test one question in another user on your Mac account - use this article if restarting in safe mode did not help.

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - if your keyboard does not always work as it should, I recommend you save your iMac to ensure that your personal data are safe. It is always better "to have" a backup for a backup "need."

On OS X Recovery - if you have reached this point, you encounter the same problem in a test user account, that would mean it is a system-w. Start your iMac into Recovery Mode and reinstall the operating system.
