Vista Home and Quickbooks
QuickBooks works on an older XP Pro machine but do not work with Vista Home OS. Cannot save new work with it and can not send information to Quickbooks. It won't save new work added to Quickbooks to the thumb drive either. Internet and electronic mail works with Vista Home out of Quickbooks App. Tried to uninstall and reinstall Quickbooks records, but it won't always work.
I need to get Vista Ultimate for this to work?
Above is the Vista of QuickBooks compatibility page.
See if your old version is listed as Vista compatible, or you need a patch.

This response does not answer your question immediately. Just my suggestion for an alternative...
You lose a lot of time and money ventually, using DVD.
Less than $100 you will get a very good external hard drive, and you can make a backup of files into it.
In the long term, it is less expensive than the purchase of DVDs and a pain to store.

can I take a copy of OEM Vista Home and install it in VirtualPC after upgrade to 7
One of my computers came with Vista 64-bit Home Premium edition. I've since upgraded to 7 and have defined as a dual boot so I can support others using Vista.
Is it possible to extract the installation of the "recovery partition" files on my system and instead to install Vista as a virtual machine, so I can get rid of the dual boot and free space hard disk Vista care? I can install applications on the virtual machine if necessary.I have VMWare and Virtual PC installed.
So, to summarize, I have 3 questions.
1. is it legal to use a preinstalled OEM copy of Vista like that, or is it considered using it on another machine? I use it on main technical terms on the same machine, he came, but with Winodows 7 as OS these days.
2. will I have difficulty to activate? It probably allows to detect the hardware like VMware or Virtual PC instead of a gateway DX4200 something (I forgot and don't feel like diving under the desk to look at).
3. How can I go about extracting the installation files to do this? I really need instructions in the procedure.
It's mostly a question of «how to make a Vista installation from the recovery partition CD»Hello
your OEM license is related to the hardware in your computer where it was installed at the factory
a virtual machine facility is different from the normal resettlement that is required for the Activation of the OEM license
Contact Gateway for how to make recovery disks
This isn't their recovery process, Microsoft
You should find information here:
http://support.gateway.com/s/software/MICROSOF/Vista/7515418/7515418asi.shtml
_________________________________________________
and if you use a vista license to upgrade you cannot use this license vista to reinstall vista anywhere else
It is part of the upgrade and is related to the installation of upgrade
__________________________________________________
and installation on a virtual machine is counted as a facility
on the same machine a license = one Installation is still the rule

If you experience problems with the Office updates, try to manually download the same and install.
You can search the individual updates here:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspxHe just put in the KB number and then perform a search.
If it always creates a problem disconnect from the internet and then try to install the updates, and another thing, you can try is turn off UAC before downloading a first update manually. See: (Guided Help: settings to adjust user account control in Windows 7):

I get this problem too-it is spent as I don't know how many times whenever I stop and start at my office. Mr Fixit works only once. Real frustrated too that I think I have an external DVD burner instead. I find that this usually happens after a few updates of windows.
Did you do the installation of updates of MSUpdate pilot error?

want to remove network and start over, vista home prem
Have a Vista home prem (primary) machine and am networking with XP (secondary) machine. I have a wireless set up and, subsequently, a small business network. I would like to erase and start over with a cable from my router network cable.

My lap top has vista home and I tried to install Win 98 on a drive. I get messages saying that it can not be installed. The installer on the disc advises to install using MS-DOS. However, the file of course dosen't address install on a computer with vista home. I am not able in the BACK. I'd like some simple instructions to install it if it is possible.
You need to do using a Virtual Machine (Finally, there are other ways, but this is the simplest and the best option). http://www.dnncreative.com/Tutorials/DNNTutorialsforAdvancedUsers/VirtualPC/tabid/394/Default.aspx.
Once the virtual machine is configured, see the follwng on how to install Windows 98 on it:http://www.vistax64.com/virtual-pc/174999-re-installing-windows-98-a.html.
I hope this helps. Keep me in the loop.
Good luck!

Downgrade from Windows Vista Home Edition to Windows XP Pro Dutch on Satellite P200-15N
Not knowing where I really should put this... I put it in this part of the forum too :)
So:
Hello
I bought a new laptop with Vista Home and two Partitions... I would like to install on the second partition "Windows XP pro" (with official key & SP2 included)! But when I run the XP Cd I get an error that the HD is not recognized... So I searched on the forum here, to see if there is a possibility of passby he...
So what I did:
(1) I download the "Intel storage drivers" of->
http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21(2) I used the Floppy machine, to create a floppy disk with the necessary drivers (also from the above site)
(3) I downloaded a copy of freeware "Nlite".
(4) I also downloaded the additional drivers on the "Toshiba" site itself (Lan, storage,...)
(5) I did a "Xp Pro P200-15N" card and put all the drivers... Including the Exe I downloaded from the link above named "iata76_cd.exe"...
(6) I have made a new Win XP bootable CD with "Nlite" & added all the drivers that I downloaded and followed the procedure given by "Nlite". He made a new bootable CD (with all the drivers and .exe and .inf, etc...)
(7) then I boot my laptop with the CD, but it always gives an error on sata drives... (that it can not be found...)
So my question is... What I'm doing wrong and what should the other drivers I download to make it work? I have an external USB floppy drive... If additional drivers must be added... So I hope that there is someone can help to Ho...
I install XP for professional reasons. Things Vista Home can not handle...
Hope I got a respons soon... CZ, looks really URGENT...
THX in advance and sorry if there are errors in my writing (I still am of Belgium)
UPDATE *.
The method above does not work for me... So took my USB floppy drive and put the drivers on it (hit 'F6' at the start, added the drivers found on the link above, it install it)...
Then I could also choose a partition...So far so good... He asked me if wanted to format it or not... I said ok...
Then, when he wanted to start the copy, I got:Insert the CD-rom or the floppy disk with the name
Driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager
In station of A:* Press ENTER when you are ready...
And I do not know what I do... CZ hitting enter doesn't do anything: s
So what I'm doing wrong, it becomes really ANNOYING and frustrating... I did everything they said in the link, in fact the method with f6, but still now reaction: s... Everyone?
Sincerely,
FrédéricThanks for the latest info!

Event id 1101 on Vista home difficulty Viewer
I have Vista Home and my computer crashes at least once a day, so I check the event viewer and I see that I always get this error http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc727052 (WS.10) .aspx whenever my computer crashes. I'm looking around and I read somewhere that if something with the verification fails the computer crashes (shuts down... something like that). I looked for a solution, but none of them work... like the secpol.msc and one bunch of others. Is there a solution that works?
Hi Allen412,
Welcome!
Yes, you must exit Safe Mode to perform the clean boot.
Perform the clean boot and was able to keep your computer under observation for a day the problem occur randomly.
Check out the link below to perform the clean boot in which article speaks to a few services and check which service is causing the problem:
