• Vista Home - no password, password reset disk or Vista DVD. What are my options?

  We have inherited a nice new PC which has Vista Home on it.  However, we did not inherit the Vista DVD or password reset for the PC disk password.  So, we are stuck and cannot get the machine to allow us of past the sign on screen.  Unfortunately, the PC came from my wife who is now deceased mother.  Are there options for sure this PC will again?  Or if it is enough to buy another disk of Vista and re - install?  Thanks for the pointers.

• SP1 is not not a proposed update after RESTORATION COMPLETE (?) so I can't access SP2. 5 years old HP 530, 32 bit Vista Home Basic, with original discs.

  Not - or at least not likely (but the drivers, firmware or software updates regular for the device using Vista may helo).  The ratings are based on this device using the disks appropriate for your version of Vista device and it.  How it works in Windows 7 (if it works in Windows 7) is from THESE drivers and the operating system (and other components on this computer).  Even if you can and did move to Windows 7, there is no guarantee that you would get all the numbers even better less significantly better numbers - although it is certainly possible amd I know that it has been the case for others who have updated.

  The best place to check the updates of device driveer (or firmware or software related, if applicable) is either the manufacturer of the computer if it came with the computer or the manufacturer of the device.  Their websites should have the links and downloads and they will be the most recent and the best available (better that what you could get through Microsoft - in fact, I suggest strongly you never use the drivers supplied by Microsoft and always bring manufacturers directly. What is the most recent will be available to give you the best possible results (before the upgrade of the unit such as adding more RAM tp the video card if your system and it can accept more RAM).

  You cannot use Windows 7 device on a Vista machine drivers.  Not only which won't work (if it allows even the facility) and will not improve ratings but that could seriously damage your system or device.  Please take my word on it and don't even consider that it.

  Just check out the manufacturers for updates of device (drivers, firmware and/or software) and keep your system up-to-date with the latest available, and that's the best you can do.

• I would like to make a "Inplace - upgrade or install" as says here from Vista Home Premium

  The Jinx is that none of the instructions here apply to my PC. When I put DISC factory in AutoPlay opens and it is treated as if it were a Photo DVD. No windows installation to install. When I type in the Drive: \setup.exe search box I get nothing even with F instead of the car. When I open it I not gives me the choice to run only: STARTUP records, hp, PC-Doctor 5 for Win PE, preload and SOURCES and text files I can't open. It's like a lot of things with this PC crap. What is true for all other HP, Dell or some brand running Vista, it has absolutely nothing to do with this PC...

  I got the Microsoft Vista discs. They are Windows Vista Home Premium, a 3 DISC set, 2 recoveries and a Suplemental. I said it's a great PC, but I spend more time trying to run or to solve problems that I actually get to use it. And now he has a lot of things are going on I never heard talk of and I wanted to try the thisRESTORE procedure that would leave my stuff alone so I didn't have a waiste that extra day and a half to put it all back to gether. It's another backup of thing does not work on what I have to transfer everything to my other drive so I don't have to use 30 discs REWRITABLE for all my stuff.
